Patch Oracle DB

On Oracle 11.2.0.4.0; Power supply 11.2.0.4.20 applied.

I received an email from support Oracle on January 2016 patch. I understand there are several versions of the patching - CPU, PSU, SPU, etc..

(1) the vendor of the application that connects to Oracle DB recommended follow PSU. How can I know which one is the CPU or PSU?

2) I have access to Oracle Support. No indication on how to make the determination on the Support of Oracle? Is Doc ID 161549.1 the correct documentation to follow?

On the Doc-ID 161549.1 it shows 11.2.0.4.21 and patch number is 22064588. However, if I click on the patch, there are replacement - 22272976 or 11.2.0.4.22 and / or 22310544 or 11.2.0.4.160119?

Edit: I found the Patch updates and security alerts what Oracle Critical Patch Update - January 2016 link which link to Doc ID 2074802.1 which connects Doc ID 854428.1 (for Patch Set Updates); that connects to Doc ID 756671.1 (to the database). In Doc ID 756671.1, it shows 11.2.0.4 current Patches recommended as 22378146.8 and others not listed above.

Don't know what I'm missing.

Please advise!

Thank you.

For Windows, see MOS 161549.1 Doc - the most recent available is 11.2.0.4.160119 as you said in your original post.

  • Patch Oracle database

    Hi all

    11.2.0.3

    AIX 6.1

I'm new to this company. My boss give me the task of applying all the patches that are not yet implemented in our databases that is recommended by Oracle, and

put our database to the latest patch available in the MOS.  It is mandated by the auditor company to our database for the latest patch

especially the security patches. My boss said that all the unique patches of GDR, PSU, must be applied. Where can I find the inventory of the latest patches

MOS? How many types of patches of the database is there?  What do you mean by GDR, PSU and exceptional items? What do you call the patch 11.2. 0.3.5? it's one-off/GDR/psu? I also download patch 11.2. 0.3 and I find that it is 5 GB in size? I get the right file?

    Thank you very much

My question is where can I download or find these quarterly patches generated by oracle? Is an email sent to members that the quarterly security patch is already available? What file should I download it from?

Where you think you can download the patches from? You should be knowing this now since you've spent a lot of time on the forums already. Patches are distributed to My Oracle Support and needs a CSI valid before you try to connect to this Web site. If you are a valid customer, you would E-mail of MOS. For the folder in which you have to download it since then, many do not leave a file but a MOS Web site.

According to the oracle documentation. If a patch has been applied, all bugs that are corrected with this patch could reappear after that another fix is applied. It's what we call a conflict situation. OPatch detects this kind of situation and will raise an error when it detects a conflict.

OPatch can detect the following conflict types:

    Superset of bug
    Subset
    Two copies
    Conflict of bug
    File conflict
    Combination of conflict... etc.

  • patch Oracle

    Hello

IM new in oracle application, fixes and im planning my 10.2.0.1 database patch however im having confusion on what it to patch. I found there are different types of patches when I checked myoraclesupport. (Group of patches and patch)

There are also CPU (critical update) and the PSU (set of updated patches) and recommended patches.

For the CPU, I already understand the idea for this type of task.

My question is how will you know if the patch is a power supply? It is classified as a group of fixes in myoraclesupport? or is this patch?

Right now, I have only an idea that the next patch below will update my 10.2.0.1 to their respective versions.
    10.2.0.2 group patches 4547817
    10.2.0.3 5337014 group of patches
    10.2.0.4 group patch 6810189
    10.2.0.5 patch 8202632 group

    Thank you

Power supplies must use version patchsets.

For example 10.2.0.5.3 power supply can only be applied after the database has been patched to 10.2.0.5 patch group.

The recommendation is upgraded to the last group of patches / PSU (10.2.0.5 and 10.2.0.5.3 in your case)

  • Database Edition Downgrade EE to itself with Patch Oracle

    Hi Super Pros,

I'm planing a downgrade from the edition of Standard Edition to the Enterprise Edition with application of the oracle patch.

I had done some research on this, but I don't have a very clear explanation. Oracle Support, I learned a Doc ID: 139642.1. In short, what he said to have to reinstall the oracle s/w and select standard edition and do an import of the original data, it is also the solution presented in other forums, but they added that I arrived to remove the schema that was used by the features installed on the Enterprise edition. Since this schema is not used and if they are imported into the newly created with standard edition DB will face many invalid objects. But even if I do a recombination I would need to remove the unnecessary schema.

    A brief highligth is

Ø export database complete removal of features EE installed or supporting diagrams / database more cold backup of full in case of total failure.
    Uninstall Oracle S/W & O database
O reinstall Oracle S/W with Standard edition
    O apply Oracle Patch
    O create the new database/Tablespace
    Ø import data original
    O recompile invalid data
O apply the original settings and activate database with the log mode Archive.
    Stable overall O & Handover.

Let me know if it will work fine?

Your suggestions and experience, is required.

    Thank you
    Anto.

The level of export of schema backup will be all grants and privileges in the database originating the export dump.
