• VMWare - Virtual Eve Snapshots

  Is there sort AppAssure export to virtual waiting so that I can chose to start a snapshot before?  AppAssure seems to add each new point recovery in the VMDK is not that I can return to a prior backup, unless I did manually in Vsphere - but can only start from the most recent export to virtual pending.

  It's fine if I was recovering from equipment failure, but if I get a virus that may have existed before this did not help much.

  AppAssure currently does not have features to allow the selection of a specific snapshot as part of the virtual intelligence process.  Virtual Eve is intended to provide a loan from an instance of a server to the bottom of the last recovery point exported successfully.  More information on the object and the purpose of virtual standby can be found here: software.dell.com/.../virtual-standby-in-the-real-world-with-appassure-technicalbrief-29891.pdf

  In order to work with your needs and requirements in a virtus events, you will need to run once the point of recovering a specific server virtual export and create the virtual machine with the Export Wizard.

  I'm working on vSphere client 5.1 (vCenter Server 5.1). Trying to export a virtual machine for distribution model. When I go to file-> export the template OVF..., I get the following error message:

  Can't export virtual machines: unable to connect to the remote server

  Remote not sure what/who he is not able to connect to. If I connect vSphere Web Client and navigate to the same model (or all other models), under 'All the Actions of vCenter' I don't have an option to export to the model of the FVO. But if I use a VM machine instead of a virtual machine template, I have the ability to export to the OVF, but it is grayed out.

  Am I missing any customer authorization or plugin for vShpere?

  Discovered that vSphere server had some modifications made by HIM to resolve the violation POODLE. HE had to set the ip address of the machine where export OVF will be performed. Which allowed the connection to establish vsphere client and perform an export of the FVO.

  go to the Plug-Ins - manage Plug-Ins.  Do you see the converter plugin?  Don't forget, it's by the customer, then you must download and install the plug

  All the world has noticed that since 5.4.3.106 update 3 virtual pending cases are not removed from c:\ProgramData\AppRecovery\MountPoints on the database server.

  @Emte - there is 1 problem found 3 update when it came out.  The patch was released Friday and was fired Monday. It is no longer available for download on any Dell site. The issue was that, when the hotfix has been installed it stopped recording in the AppRecoveryPM.log file on the agent and anything but a point that has been saved in the AppRecovery.log file on the kernel.  There is no problem found with the features of the patch, simply logging.  It has been republished two days later, with the same exact man and meta info.  There is no way of telling apart patches.  I can assure you that the patch which can be found here - support.software.dell.com/.../download-new-releases is the right.  The patch number is P-001517.  I recommend logging on your heart and the agent.  If you attempt to start or stop the basic service and no entries are saved in the file indicating is the kernel start or stop, and then it's the old patch that has the problem.  In this case, please uninstall it and download a new copy from the support site and install it.

  I would like to request a feature to be able to export 'Virtual Network Settings' from my computer.

  Whenever I have install or re-install VMWare Workstation on a computer, I have to reconfigure my virtual network settings manually to match the configuration of static IP address I set up on my guest VMs.

  However, if I was able to just export the virtual network settings (and then import these settings into a new installation), I would be able to save time of configuration on each of my computers/workstations and thus avoid manual effort either myself or to inform my colleagues on how to configure their virtual network settings to take in charge the VMS the comments.

  Run the command with cmd - a started with "run as Administrator"?
  Did you change directory in the installation directory WS first?
  The command runs without any messages.
  The output should be a 8 k file - just tested again on Win7 - 64 running WS 10.0.2

• the virtual copies exported under Win7 seem to lose changes

  When I export virtual copies in LR5, everything seems fine.  The library grid displays the new copies of the original image with the various changes I did to develop.  This also applies to the folder view brief LR5 appears at the end of the export.  But, when I later discovered the same folder as the computer Win7 utility, or any other editor, these files all the same appear as the original!  No obvious changes.  So it turns out I missed a step in the export process to 'fix' the changes in the virtual copies to the new files?

  Are you sure when you did export, you have selected the type of file or JPG and not 'Original '?

  We had a server running gladly watch exports virtual Hyper-V, and then abruptly stopped, export and complaining saying she needed of more space to complete.

  Drive E had about 30 GB free (at the time) and the incremental backups between work and default were about 2 GB.

  I have since deleted the virtual Eve, because sometimes I saw Appassure get confused and rather than wait for a response from support (see below), I did export it to create a new.

  It says that I need 26 GB of free disk so cannot start.  I mounted the backup from before she failed and after and they have the same size, in fact, some readers have less actual data on them.

• Export of W2008 R2 to HyperV (running on server 2012 R2)

  I guess I'm missing something here, but here's my problem.

  I protect a Server 2008 R2 with a partition EFI SRP.

  When I set up to export to HyperV (running on 2012 R2 server) I get the prompt on the fact that I can't export a server EFI based virtual machines to generation Type 1, however 2008 R2 cannot run on the machines of type generation 2.

  The result is, these machines are unable to boot and my virtual eve has no value.

  Virtual Eve to ESXi performs without problem.

  Does anyone have a work around, or a process, I can follow to get this working in this State.

  Open a ticket, but laying here as well.

  It's Microsoft limitation.

  Available only for generation machines in Hyper-V UEFI firmware support 2 but 2008 R2 guest OS is not supported for machines of generation 2.

  Following Windows guest operating systems are supported as the 2nd generation of virtual machines:

  R2 Windows Server 2012

  Windows Server 2012

  64-bit versions of Windows 8.1

  64-bit versions of Windows 8

  Just in case someone stumbles across this, the answer is Yes.  VMWare Essentials includes the correct license.

• Director of the laboratory - cannot export to ESXi host (SMBMount unsupported)

  I had this problem since the liberation.  This is my environment:

  Director of the laboratory of 4.0.1

  vCenter 4.0 Update 1

  ESXi (3 guests) 4.0 Update 1

  Shared storage: EMC SAN with NAS volume on gigabit ethernet.

  I opted to use on ESX ESXi VMWare's future, as far as development.

  My problem is this: when I click to export a configuration of Lab Manager, it fails with "Error in export."  The details of the message are:

  * Error export the Configuration.

  vCenter Lab Manager cannot find that any suitable host connected to the "NFS Datastore" data store for this operation.

  Host 'ESXi1' is an ESXi host and does not support smbmount.*

  I installed ESXi being under the impression he was supposed to have all the same functionality as ESX.  Now, I have myself screwed... my users will sometimes have to export configurations to test booting the VMS of USB dongles (as there is no USB transfer directly to a virtual computer that it's time to start).  If at least 3 times a week I have to export virtual machines, one by one, to a network share, which is quite tedious and quite annoying.

  Is on the timeline of development?  I noticed that the 4.0.2 has been released, but by its requirements (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager402.html#newfeatures) it does not support ESXi 4.x, which is strange because the requirements for Lab Manager 4.0.1 (http://www.vmware.com/support/labmanager40/doc/releasenotes_labmanager40.html) list ESXi 4.0 as a host in charge.

  Can someone please shed some light on this issue and maybe get it on the development plan for the next version of Lab Manager?

  We don't do generally no update notes version after a product has been released.

  In addition, it is not specific to Lab Manager, ESXi does not support required... orders so Lab Manager is just stating the restriction of resource pools provided.  As far as I remember, ESXi did not support smbmount (or mount-t smbfs) since its inception.

  There is an add-on called FEBE, and it allows you to export virtually everything that Firefox offers (including modules) as installable files.

  So basically, you can take the range of extensions and export them in another Firefox profile.

• Suspension of consistent application on Windows Server 2012 invited with U2 ESXi 5.0

  We lack ESXi 5.0 U2 (build 1254542) and we are going to have problems making consistent application paused on our virtual machines that are running Windows Server 2012.

  We use Acronis vmProtect, and he throws warnings on our VMS in 2012 on the SQL Writer is not not available.  I contacted the Acronis support and they said that it is a problem with the suspension of consistent application.

  I checked VMWare Tools is installed on the client, and I tried to reinstall it.

  Is there something else I should look for consistent suspension with applications working on Windows Server 2012?

  What do I need to run ESXi 5.1 for this to work?  (Or could I just install the latest version of VMWare Tools manually?)

  If I have to run ESXi 5.1, 5.0 to 5.1 ESXi licenses are worth?  (We have the 5 Essentials license Server vCenter).

  If I have to run ESXi 5.1, must I also improve our vCenter Server installation of 5 to 5.1?

  Answer to Q1:

  on the application of a snapshot is to be able to return to exactly the State of the virtual machine in which the snapshot was created. In order to do this, all the (content of the disc, memory,...) must be restored. One of the reasons to come back to a snapshot may be an update that did not work as expected.

  Answer to Q2:

  P2V installs the converter on the source machine agent.

  The Client Plugin is no longer necessary. It was part of the vCenter Converter Server which was provided as a plugin for vCenter Server. With vSpehre 5 the converter is not supplied with vCenter Server, but provided as a separate application.

  For a P2V conversion, it demanded to have a source and a target to which the source machine is converted as a virtual machine.
