I can't control the brightness

Go into the BIOS and check to see if the action keys is enabled.

If the action keys is not enabled, you will need to hold down the Fn key to increase or decrease the brightness of the screen.

To identify the drivers, you will need to enter in the Device Manager, right click on an unknown device and then click Properties. Which will open the properties of the device window. See the following image.

Copy the string and use as keywords in a Google or Bing search. The result will tell you what its manufacturer and the model of the device. You can also post here in your thread and I or someone else can help you with it.

  • Pavilion DV7: How to make windows 10 talk to external monitor?

    I changed my Pavilion DV7 (product # ww185av) from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Since then, the laptop appears on my external monitor (HP x 2511).

    The screen remains black.

Laptop computer connection and monitor worked very well just before the switch.

If I P-window and choose "duplicate", the laptop tells me that I don't have the optimal resolution and it changes the screen resolution of mobile, but the external monitor stays black.  Somehow, I found once a "detection" option to get another monitor, but windows cannot find a second monitor. I tried to re-allocation of places the connection htmi several times.

I suspect the video driver, because my laptop wonder is no longer on whether I want to change GPU when I plug/unplug power supply.  I suspect that it is running low power GPU, and he never liked talking to the screen when executing that GPU.  But I have not found a panel that allows me to spend.   My video drivers are updated according to windows and hp advisor software.  Some HP site says that HP does not support windows on machines more than 10 2 years, one of which is mine.

Any thoughts on how to get the laptop to talk to the screen?  Should I just go back to Windows 7?

The expert event is over, no one offers a 'plan B', and my Windows 10 grace period is exhausted.

I came back to Windows 7 and my monitor works fine again.

  • Webcam on HP Pavilion Desktop, 64-bit driver, Windows 7 works intermittently

My webcam has started gradually and over many months.  I was with Vista.  Took me to upgrade to Windows 7, 64-bit, in the hope that it would solve the problem.  I have run programs troubleshooting and followed the suggestions that initially appear to work and then there is a noise of "Ding-Dong" carried by the computer (sometimes several times) and turns off the webcam.  Now with Windows 7, I get a #43 error signal saying that the device is disabled.  It works well or doesn't work at all.  Sometimes, it works when I turn on the computer, sometimes not.

I get the error message as soon as the webcam is stopped.  (The computer beeped a two part when he does this, if I have open registration page, I can see the webcam icon to a green check mark disappear.)  Sometimes it bounces and off several times before you stay off.  The webcam is often (but not always work when I first boot my computer.)

My computer: HP Pavilion Elite 9517c, now on windows 7, 64 bit but the webcam no longer works when I was using Vista - I was hoping that the upgrade would solve the problem

Webcam: model CNF8215, HP webcam, now in port #0003 Hub_0005 (I tried to change USB locations and even the cable, but none of this makes a difference) provider: Microsoft, the hardware ID: USB\VID_03FO & PID_B116 & REV_6457 & MI_02

I tried the sites above, but the webcam appears not on the lists of programs - this is the frustrating part - when the webcam is not working there is nothing to show problems and then when it stops working it is referred to as a "unknown device does not" and I can not find it or any what prgram/device related to it.  It still appears in the list of devices with a yellow!  I did all the troubleshooting suggestions and also updated the drivers of HP. I have not tried to uninstall the webcam when it works (it's what you're suggesting?)   Could you be a little more specific on how I would reinstall it if that's what you're suggesting.  Thank you very much!

  • Pavilion Elite HPE-180 t, windows 7 64 bit started to stop the sleep mode.

Pavilion Elite HPE-180 t, windows 7 64 bit began to stop in the past few weeks.  It seems to happen from the sleep mode.  I leave the computer for more than 20 minutes, and when I come back, it is turned off.  When I start again, I have an error message and be able to start in safe mode.  I start in normal mode and I get an error "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" without solution.  I also see an action center say error - consider sending additional information about a problem with the ATI display driver (graphics card is ATI Radeon HD5450 1 GB).  When I click for the solution, says that this solution could not be downloaded.  I've updated my drivers.  I haven't added a new hardware or software.

    Thanks HardBeatZ (HP).

I did as you suggested and I had to uninstall several times because the device picked up previous ATI vs the generic drivers.  In any case it still stop with the blue screen of death when waking from sleep mode.   Then I went back and installed the latest graphics driver from the HP site for my system. I still had a few stops.

Then I went through all my devices and checked for latest drivers.  All said that the best version is already installed.  Then I noticed that my HP bt500 bluetooth USB 2.0 adapter had only a driver available for windows 7 32 bit (I have installed 64-bit).  I used a keyboard and bluetooth mouse.   So I unplugged the adapter and have resorted to the USB keyboard and mouse and closures of blue screen stopped.  It seems that the network card was originally wake up from its sleep.  I also disabled the reactivation of LAN in the properties of the network adapter device.

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option, if you came to laptop with Windows 7, you might consider is to create your own installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version - i.e. Home Premium.) Professional etc. - initially supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

You may need, additional drivers and software are from here.
