Pavilion 550-035z: replace a DVD drive in my desktop PC
Hello
I am wanting to upgrade the DVD player that came with this PC. It is mounted vertically, thinner than the standard. I am eager to find a player more rapid combustion. The current DVD's HP TSST DVDRW SU-208 HB SATA.
I'm looking for what kind of model?
Thank you.
Dean Mieras
Models that in size 9.5 mm are 6 x or 8 x burn. Reading is 24 x.

Hello clevermom,
I understand that you are looking to replace the optical drive of your desktop HP TouchSmart IQ504. The optical drive you are looking for is no longer provided by HP, but I don't have any information that will allow you to get elsewhere. The optical drive is '8 X SuperMulti Slimslot SATA interface DVD-ROM optical drive - 12.7 mm height form factor, read all medai CD-ROM and DVD-RAM discs,' and I fouhd several available on internet by searching by part 467613-ZH1 number.

To replace the DVD drive with the second HARD disk on the pavilion DM4-2000
Hello
I would like to remove my laptop DVD drive and replace it with an SSD. It seems that the DVD player does not use the standard format of pins SATA for hard drives, rather than use a slightly smaller connection. Is it possible to connect a laptop SATA drive this in any case and if so, how?
Any help appreciated,
Tim
You need a car adapter. Your laptop uses 12.7 mm optical readers and you need this card:
https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-01/
Here is the Service Manual:
See Page 45 for replacement instructions.
You place the additional hard drive inside the adapter, then swap the front to make look it good.
If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

replace the dvd drive pavillion 1157
The DVD in my HP Pavilion p7 player - 1157c is having a problem reading the CD/DVD, once they are placed in the drawer. That's what I've done so far:
- I reinstalled the cables although they were not cowards.
- Uninstalled the DVD driver and restarted the computer and Windows 7 64 b reinstalled the driver.
The drawer will always open and close and makes normal sounds when you first insert a CD, but it stops after a few seconds.
After that these things did not work, I decided to buy a replacement for the CD/DVD drive last night and went to install it this morning but it seems that the power supply works in the way and I can't get the DVD player. Y at - it something for the old DVD out without removing the power supply? I'm usually not mechanically challenged but this has me confused.
Thank you very much
Hello
The optical drive can be removed at the front of the PC - see the guide on the following link.

Satellite M30 - error message after replacing the DVD drive
Virgin, excused my English ;)
I have a satellite m30 and I replaced the DVD-cd-rw drive in series with a SLIM NEC ND-6650 DOUBLE LAYER, DVD time bios gives me error
0203: failure IDE #2
Is it possible to remove this message?Hello
As far as I know that this message can not be eliminated and it happens every time if you want to use the drive is not compatible. Always is it that all readers may not work with all models of laptops.
In this case, fundamental problem is the pin assignment. It is not the same in all players.
Good bye

Hey guys,.
I have a pc hp pavilion touch laptop 14, which has been having a defective hard disk that the operating system was not start and the system test indicated that the hard drive contained errors.
I replaced the hard drive with a new one and before installing the hard drive I formatted with a win installation 8.1. I thought the laptop would just start normally to win8, but gave me a screen saying:boot device not found please install an operating system on drive hard drive (3f0)
The hard drive is new and I did not not how its gives me this error!
In addition, this laptop does not seem to boot from a cd to format!
Any ideas?
Thank you
KarlHey BHK6,
I found out what was wrong! It was so simple!
I just need to make the boot inherited from the bios, like that he started directly from the hard drive and does not need of any software pre installed HP to start.
Thanks for your help anyway

Replace the DVD drive with lightscribe on Satellite M60
Is it possible to buy a lightscribe for the M60 dvd drive replace a normal drive. I have a lot of videos that I made more certain that I bought and I transfer them to DVD, it would also be useful to label the disks that hold backups and plans that we use. I prefer the direct info disc rather then print the labels and stick them onto the disc printing. I can do the work myself if I get hold of the drive and the driver.
There is still a lot more left life warranty Toshiba in the machine and I am reluctant to update. I have two other M60s in my office and they gave very good service.Thank you Russell.
Hello
If you take the risk that your warranty would be voided and you find a compatible player then do it. Sorry, but if I were you, I would buy an external USB-DVD/RW lightscribe capabilities. It s fast enough and he would support lightscribe that you need.
It's the only option I'd choose, but I would´t screws my machine during the warranty only for some purposes "DVD-labeling"...
Welcome them

CD-ROM error at the start after replacing the DVD drive - Qosmio F20-574
OK, so I have a Toshiba Qosmio F20/574 and I am trying to replace the factory DVD player (TEAC DV-W28E) with a Liteon DS-8A1P (f/w CX12). With or without a DVD Im reader get a CD-ROM error at startup. The only time where what I don't get, is when I start with the factory DVD player.
Here are the things I've tried...
-Cleared CMOS memory
-Remove the bezel to ensure his grip at bottom
-l' utility EEPROM set the drive to slave.
-tested the portable player in another
-uninstalled the factory dvd player via the Device Manager and tried to boot with the new dvd driveHere are the things that I found bizarre...
-in the BIOS (BIOS 1.30 ACP) under IO device, it shows the hard drive and cd, but it is not listed by name, his watch only the IRQ of the primary and secondary IDE controller (integrated drive HARD IDE primary (1F0H/IRQ14), CD-ROM (170 H/IRQ15) secondary IDE). This does not change, even if I start without a DVD player.
-There is no update available for this laptop BIOS. It is a Toshiba of the Japan and the Ive tried using Qosmio F20 BIOS 1.40 to another region, but this does not work.
-I can't find a firmware for the Liteon DS-8A1P (CX17) updateI can't think of anything to try. I really need help! Any ideas?
I'm afraid that you are using the optical disc drive not compatible and there is nothing you can do. Check it please s user guides document for your model of laptop and you will find a list of all compatible ratings.

I am trying to replace the hard drive on this laptop. I got all the screws that I see but there is always something on the left side cover (but not on the corner). This is a clip, or have I missed a screw? I thought that the keyboard is equipped with detach, but that doesn't seem to be the case
I have marked the area here: http://i.imgur.com/nL2Uicy.jpg

To replace the DVD drive with the second HARD drive on the Probook 6570 b as for the BIOS setting
After you replace CD/DVD player with HARD drive in the Bay of correspondence, I had a problem with the BIOS. After starting, I received a message 'there is not a boot manager' and CTRL + ALT + DELETE. So is that posible F9 and start to use Option manually hard. Please tell me what I should do to fix this problem.
Thanks for your advice. I remember what I had to do in the BIOS. I had to choose the Boot Option and excludes "Boot from Bay upgrade". That's all. Of course subsequently followed "save all".

HP Pavilion p7-1234: functional CD/DVD drive will not boot Clonezilla disk recognize
Have three HP p7 in small desktop running Win 7 64 bit. (Avast free version)
None of them will recognize a bootable Clonezilla ISO or Zip, whether on CD/DVD or USB.
Measures already taken:
BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD
In turn the BIOS configured to boot from USB
Have used any compatible version of Clonezilla downloads based on my operating system and the processor, including the generic i686 ISO and Zip. (and makes bootable USB drive)
CD/DVD and USB function perfectly well otherwise. Able to access the other disks and USB media with no problems.
Also able to see the Clonezilla ISO when I look at the CD/DVD drive.
It starts simply what whether Clonezilla.
If someone has encountered this, I would like to share your experience.
Thanks for your time.
One rookie mistake.
Problem:
Bad, I carved the Clonezilla ISO to CD/DVD disc.
Solution:
1. download the ISO Clonezilla appropriate for your computer, on your desktop.
2. place the disc in the CD/DVD drive
3. "right click" on the Clonezilla ISO on your desktop.
4 Select "Burn Image" and follow the default values. Now you have a proper boot Clonezilla disk.
Next:
1. make sure the BIOS is set to CD/DVD is bootable.
2. place Clonezilla disc in open the tray of the CD/DVD drive.
3. restart the computer and close the CD/DVD tray
4 put your finger on "F9" key and now wherever the blue HP screen appears, press "F9".
5. boot Menu loads.
6. move arrows down to the first line indented under "ATAPI CD/DVD DRIVE...
SATA2 or SATA3 will be according to your system.
7 hit ENTER.Clonezilla immediately, boots and loads.
I hope it works for you.
