Pavilion DM4 - 3000ea Beats: question memory Pavilion DM4-3000ea

Hello

I am considering upgrading my laptop 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM. The current RMA is 1333 MHz dual channel. If I have 1600 MHz RAM for the upgrade, this laptop would automatically run it at top speed? He mentions 1600 MHz RAM in the maintenance manual, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience of this please?

Thank you very much.

This manual also covers the third generation processors and motherboard chipsets 7 series that will run at 1600 mhz memory.

This manual is not for the dm4-3100 Series your DM4-3000 series. The chipset of your motherboard is theoretically capable of performing memory at 1600 mhz, but who has not implemented by HP.

Two questions really, even if they may be related.

    1. I have an A10 (XP / IT with a Celeron 2.2GHz processor & 256 MB installed RAM) that runs now very slowly - extremely laborious. Do all the usual things (defragmented, spyware scanning, virus scanned, registry cleaned with a utility, etc.). Is that need more RAM? Or is there another solution to try first and if additional would be a good idea...

    2. .. do I need to install matched pairs of modules SODIMM or can I take one of the 128 MB chips and put in a 512 MB, or just have a 512?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I don't know what makes your computer to run very slowly. If it is software related, my only other idea is to reinstall the whole system.

About RAM: Upgrade memory will definitely increase the speed of your machine, and I think that, as you have only 256 MB, it would be a good idea.
When upgrading you must use memory good type. I think you need PC2100 DDR - RAM. You can combine the modules you want up to a maximum of 1024 MB.

    Good bye

    Hi team,
When I open a preview to CHANGE, it gives me the warning below. Can you please let know your thoughts.

  • Pavilion DV6-2140ED: Pavilion DV6: 10 Windows does not start after the upgrade memory (4 GB-> 8 GB)

After I upgraded the RAM in my HP DV6 from 4 GB to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB Kingston KTA-MB1333 / 4G), Windows no longer starts. I get a blue screen and it keeps restarting.

I think that the memory specifications are similar to the Samsung M471B5673EH1-CH9 original memory: Ghz 1333, non - ecc, 1.5 volts, case latency 9 etc.etc.

    It's a laptop DV6-2140ED HP with a processor Intel i5 - 430 m and Intel mobile chipset HM55.

The bios detects 8 GB and it also passes the check/test of memory. As far as I know that I have also installed the latest bios firmware: F.1D. Reinstall my Windows 10 64 bit does not work either: with 8 GB I also get blue screens, after I try to boot my Windows 10 bootable USB drive.

I read other people having the same problem, but I have not read a solution yet. What can we do about it?

Please see this discussion.  You buy a very specific memory for any HP laptop with Mobile Intel 5 series chipset.

  • HP EliteBook 8440p: memory modules RAM that actually work for HP EliteBook 8440p?

Hi everyone again. I scoured these forums and others and can't find a definitive answer to the upgrade of my RAM memory.

    My system:

    HP EliteBook 8440p

    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 M640

    Professional Win7 64 bit

    133 MHz bus clock

    BIOS: HP 68ccu, worm. F.11 (2010)

    Dual core, hyper-threaded (4)

    (?) Mobile Intel QM57 chipset

According to Belarc Advisor, I currently have a 4MB of RAM Samsung under the keyboard module. The second location is empty.  First of all, more memory RAM is not sold in the UK? I know that the computer is capable of 8 GB and the Kingston modules, I just tried to install were 4GB each.  Sticks of Kingston are 8 GB (2 x 4), PC3-10600, CL9, 1.5V, 204 pins SODIMM modules and they do NOT work on this laptop even if they should.

Has anyone found the secret of exactly which modules memory will work with this specific model of laptop? It is issues of density? Problems of tension? Am I missing a driver. I have to sing the thing while I install memory?

Seriously, any help at all will be appreciated.

    Hello:

Please read this thread, and I posted the memory you need to NewEgg if you live in the USA/Canada.

The 8440p uses the same memory as the 6550 b.

  • Satellite A100-906 - WinXP Pro home renovation

    Hello!

Is it possible to upgrade pre-installed WinXP Home Pro on Satellite A100-906?

I tried to upgrade installation but Setup reports that it can not copy installation files, the strangest thing that he couldn't copy _different_ files when I tried to install from different locations, - CDROM, the image mounted on the installation CD and the directory with the contents of the CD WinXP Pro facility. The installation disc is ok for you, no errors on this subject.
When I chose ignore that error, Installer refuses to continue with the upgrade after rebooting. The 'missed' file names seem random, like "auhpstkb.sys", at least, I couldn't find all the pages with these names on Google.

I have not tried to reinstall clean, only tried to level currenst installation (which I have a lot of things that are already installed and do not want to reinstall it from scratch), but so far without success.

    Any comments on the problem?

    Hello!

Please, follow you had a tip for the copy face me problem recently several times during a WinXP and Win2000 clean and repair facility.

Note, that the installation machine should to during the installation procedure be torn temporarily out of all hardware audio devices incl. extra. PCI-devices, USB devices, questionable memory sticks, etc., because they can disrupt reading the CD installation-leading to errors on the copy of important system files.

OK, I know, it is not so easy with laptops, as with desktop computers, so you could start with some of the easy rippings. And, if nothing else helps to continue with the laptop open and heartbreaking continues by a technician, who believe and agree with this suspicion of mine...

  • Power light blinking XPS 8900

I bought my XPS8900 a few weeks ago and immediately upgraded the memory up to 32 GB.

Everything worked fine, but then I decided to upgrade the video card to an EVGA GeForce GTX970 SSC.

This card requires a 6 and a power connector 8 pin that does not provide the power supply Dell stock. So rather that to return the video card, I have improved the power supply to a Corsair CX750M, I've read that other XPS8900 users have had success with this machine.

As others have pointed out, this PSU is a tight fit, but I could get installed it. As soon as I turned on, my trouble started.

The case and CPU fans spin, I hear the rotation of the drive upward, and I can open and close the dvd tray. So I know that the power supply provides at least a power. But I get no video, and on the top of the box, the power LED flashes amber model.

I tried to go back to the video card and power supply dell stock, but still have exactly the same problem.

I also tried unplugging the power cable and power for 30 seconds button. But still, the power light flashes orange model.

I know there is no beep codes for the 8900 XPS and the sequence of flashing orange light power is used to diagnose the problem, but I was not able to locate any reference to indicate trends.

The power light blinks a 2-7 model and repeats.

    Anyone know what this means?

    Follow-up:

I had ripped all with no luck. Well, everything except the improved memory. He had worked, so I don't think that it would be necessary to remove it. But I was wrong.

I went back to the memory of stock and the blinking orange light problem disappeared!

Then I reinstalled the new memory, and it worked too!

So I guess it was just that the memory should be seen.

Not sure if the model of 2-7 means 'Question' memory, but this would be my guess.

Since the 8900 XPS does not support beep codes, I hope that Dell will eventually publish what mean flashing light patterns.

    Hello

You will find what is connected 2960 on gig1/0/51 on the switch. It could be the loop of packets in the network.

Provide output 'show cdp neighbors' 2960 switch.

Also is you can update a topology diagram to know what devices are connected to 2960 on gig1/0/51, gig1/0/16, gig1/0/34, gig1/0/27, gig1/0/25 etc...

  • Support CPU

    Hello guys;

Just finished installing my first ever ESXI (ESXI 5) and in the client console, I see that there is only a maximum of 4CPUs available for a virtual machine. Now, I know, it's a limit defined by VMWare, but I want to know is: what is the total number of partitions to my host?

To explain, when I install vmware player, he will show me available for use 8CPUs, but in ESXI, I do not see anywhere 8CPUs.

I have a single Quad core Intel CPu and Intel VT is enabled in the bios.

Other thing, would you please send a link on how to copy the existing virtual machine to ESXI ab?

    Thanks in advance.

Since you have not yet entered the key, because it is still announcing "Evaluation Mode" which does not apply. Historically, the evaluation mode has been licensed Enterprise Plus (everything is at your disposal). Once you apply a license key, and then you get these features. You have two physical processors installed on the server?

I have not, yet, installed ESXi 5 on my host, since I need test with my SAN/NAS iSCSI communication before committing. I could do it via a nested virtual machine or Workstation 8 on my main work... You may have a flaky CPU slightly in the box, ESXi don't like simply not where other operating systems are ready to deal. ESX/ESXi has been known to reject material that the other operating systems accept/work with, even if it is compatible.

Just for laugh, pull down the image of complete diagnostic flash drive, install to a new flash disk, start the server from that and run it on a loop for a day or three. Who must collect all the material problems. I would also like to run memtest on the host for at least 2-3 days. Who's going to flush out the questionable memory sticks in the host. I had this discover memory that was just bad enough to cause problems with ESX/ESXi, but no other operating systems. Replacement of the memory before it is actively used is usually the best choice. As a result, a 'burn-in' memtest for at least 4-5 days is now SOP for me.

  • The best way to solve this problem (internal vCenter, ESX host external)

The issue is that we have our virtual Center and our production ESX hosts on our internal network. We have another site of emergency in a remote network, but welcomed a public address with a firewall in front of her.  When I add the host of my vCenter she adds in fact very well and works for 1 minute, then disconnects. This is because the heartbeat may not respond to the virtual Center.  The emergency server will be 3 VMS host, 1 e-mail box, 1 website and 1 backup domain controller.  I only know the basics of networking, so I don't know what would be the best idea of tests.

I will apply to network engineers after that I know that would work well.

I should create a nat device for the server vCenter and which will resolve the heart beat question

I should have a set up reverse proxy, then change the esx host and change the internal address of the vCenter to the public address with proxy reverse?

Should I make the address pool which esx host has (about 10 external and public addresses) available to route between our internal VLAN?

Y at - it a sugguestion different with a better description would you recommend to solve this problem and better my future goals with the 3 virtual machines, that I intend to host on this server.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thank you

Is it possible to Site 2 Site VPN? If Yes, then it would be much less complicated. Put ESX in DMZ with public IPs is not a good idea in terms of security.

  • Pavilion DM4 - 3090 Beats Edition - could not retrieve the BIOS update failed

    Hello everyone.

I was trhe proud owner of a HP Pavilion dm4-3090 Beats Edition until two days ago, when I updated my BIOS, but I was unable to power on the laptop again. The system simply feeds the button WE and the Wifi (F12), HARD drive turns a bit, DVD player makes a noise and powers of fan on any USB flash drive connected to power system; but only for a period of 1-3 seconds.

This process is repeated every 2 to 3 seconds.

I have vain tried to restore the BIOS from the HARD drive (the HARD drive has not changed, I have still the partition HP_TOOLS in), with key combinations: Windows + B, Windows + P, Windows + Esc, Esc + Fn, Fn + B, Fn + P, four arrows. I also tried to do this via USB flash drive (with UEFI tool provided by HP), put some BIOS downloaded HP in the root and the current, New records and previous USB drive, once again, in vain. The laptop seems forever trying to read the USB key, just it under tension and that's all.

So my question is if you please tell me what I do wrong and also, is there is another way to try to get it back.

Thank you very much in advance.

Resolved to send to a third party service for a reflash BIOS.

  • HP HP Pavilion dm4-3002ea Beats edition, the strange fan noise

Hey guys first post so sorry if this isn't the correct procedure to indicate the problem or the right section!
I have a HP Pavilion dm4-3002ea beats edition laptop, bought about a year and a half (so out of warranty).

Now, the problem of the half that I have is a terribly strange fan noise coming from the laptop ONLY when it was hibernation, it is Purring away while I'm typing on it now, fan works fine, no overheating or issues like that, I can game, leave it on for hours etc its perfectly fine. The only problem is in hibernation it! I always put in hibernation in order to keep all my work of University ready to leave when I'm back on it, with all my tabs and such always opens on the sections, I need. It is very good that he hibernates without problem. Its when I go and turn it back on, it makes a vibration noise which I assume is the fan for about 15-20 seconds (?) as his recovery after hibernation and then is perfectly fine once more. He never did this noise after the sequence of the hibernation, or when I restart it. It's awfully strange and something I want to just make sure is not a real problem that I need this laptop for my university work. I can only assume, is the fan that makes noise, but it could be the HARD drive maybe? Not too sure on this one. He never blue screens etc, the HDD works fine so I'm really at a loss here! Any advice would be appreciated.
Also I tried to clean the air fan, but I did not dare in disassemble correctly yet because it looks pretty complex of youtube, resembles access sick fan have to jump off the keyboard and the back which is a lot of effort. But if it goes bad opens and take a peek! I would like to know what it is, but I don't want to tinker with the bowels, as I used to do with my old laptop so its something stupid that is easily fixed! Also I always Hibernate it instead of closing it down, but being quite computer should not do lasting damage, I'm good? I mean he puts just the data disk HARD ready to be accessed the next time I turn it on? But hurt close more if this will help!
Another quick problem which is pretty stupid because it is a HP Beats edition... half the speakers do not work on the right side of the laptop! Ironically, good! I'm not too fussed as its plugged in speakers on my desk, most of the time, but still it's pretty boring, as well. It creaked and went off one day and then he jumped several times on but now seemed to give up! The other side works well, reinstall all drivers etc to make sure that it isn't is not material, so I guess a loose cable? Pretty stupid, really, but still I guess another reason for me to break open and get to the bottom of this! As laptops out of warranty and I don't really want to take to a store of the laptop, in the hope of an old House of the noise of the fan if possible challenge! Speakers aren't that big a deal as always half works very well.

    If necessary, these specifications:

    HP Pavilion dm4-3002ea
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Intel i5 2450M 2.50 Ghz processor

12 GB of Ram (I have added 8 gb on ago about 6 months so the amount)

    750 GB HARD drive.

    Congratulations to all!

    Hi Jack_DM4

If I understand correctly you are updated, but we have still the sound issue only with the laptop not on devices so it looks like that the speakers on the right side of your laptop may be missing and vibration is still ongoing with the fan, but only when it starts first to the top that looks like a balancing problem.

These two problems are hardware related but will not cause any damage to your computer. The speakers can be replaced if you choose by contacting HP here parts store and you place your order of new speakers and their replacement. If you are under warranty I would get fixed under warranty.

The problem of vibration is just the fan rebalance itself when it starts first to the top once it gets to the speed of the passing air forces hovering in the centre of balance so he and when he settles down if imbalance. If you can deal with noise very well, otherwise you can order a new one from the link above HP parts store.

If you are still under warranty I would strongly suggest that you get the notebook repaired under warranty as you may void the warranty if you open the notebook. If this is the case

I think it would be best if you contacted technical support HP for repair options.

Link US support for contact options for portable computers purchased in the United States.

Link to American support outside of the contact options for laptops purchased outside the United States.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums and please feel free to re-post if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great day!
