Pavilion dv7 1245 dx boot problem

Hey everybody,

Just FYI, I have a dv7-1245dx with a VISTA OS and hard drive of 320 GB.

I was unable to boot my dv7 for about a week when (I think) the hard drive crashed while the computer is running. I ran the disk hard main self test and received 301, 303 and 305 errors but there always going the SMART control - so the hard drive is shot. System memory is 100%.

I want to be sure that there nothing else wrong with it before you buy a new hard drive. I tried from a disk external drive with Windows XP is already installed, but just at the point where it begins to show the loading Windows screen, he flashes a BSOD and restarts. Is there anything else I can do to diagnose what is wrong or it's probably just the hard drive?

Also, what are the brands of hard drive are compatible with the dv7?

Thank you.

Hello

The errors you mention in your message, it seems the hard drive failed - this is by far the most likely, although it may be related to other problems, for example the Sata controller on the motherboard, hard drive replacement is definitely the best place to start.

An example of the type of HARD drive that fits your laptop is on the link below.

Hard drive 320 GB

A test of futher you can try to check your laptop is to create a bootable Ubuntu CD.  You can run this OS directly from the CD (that is, there is no need to install on the HARD disk).  The guide and the download is on the following link.

http://www.Ubuntu.com/download/Ubuntu/download

Although the operating system running from a CD will be slow, it should show if everything works (apart from the HARD drive).

Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Hello

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • Pavilion dv7-4285dx: cannot BOOT/POST/VGA external and internal LCD is dead (cracked)

I cracked the screen of my HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx so bad that I can't read anything on the subject. I'm trying to start to an external monitor to the VGA port, but never to get a signal.

I tried the key switch monitor, but that does nothing. I tried to unplug the LCD internal of the motherboard - not different. I tried a CMOS reset by removing the laptop battery, remove the CMOS battery, cut the power and hold the power button / stop for > 1 minute, then by restarting with external LCD just attached, but STILL no video on the VGA port.

The video card is OK, because it starts with Windows and then I have the video on the external monitor.

Although it is good that I can use the monitor to post once Windows starts, I need to have the video when the BIOS starts to change.

Does anyone have another suggestion how I can get the BIOS to detect and display external VGA at boot time?

    Hello.

    I can't start bluetooth on my Pavilion dv7-6140eo with W7 (32 bit)

Device Manager do not appear, only the unknown device.

I was trying to upgrade the driver of all HP possible, but always the same.

    Hi, Philippe:

What wireless network card model is has your model?

Who determines what bluetooth driver you are installing.

This is probably the driver that you need for the unknown device:

This will install HP 3D DriveGuard, which offers protection for internal laptop disk drive if the computer accidentally falls or suddenly hits another object. This package is available on mobile phones supported with supported operating systems.

N ° all what you need to do is physically swap posts. The method varies a bit between generations dv7 different but basically you remove cover license plate and Exchange readers, for one another. If you give us the exact model, we can probably find illustrated instructions and maybe even a video.

    ====================================================================

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

    A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

  • Skype on Pavilion DV7 Vista and Win7 problem

I have problems with Skype 5.1 - when I try to open it a message appears 'Skype has stopped working, check online for a solution and close the program, etc.'. Nothing is displayed when clicked. I tried searching for virus & update drivers without success. My DV7 was initially running Vista so I decided to do a new install of Windows 7. To my surprise, the problem with Skype persisted, so I can only assume it is hardware partner. I've updated the Bios without success.

I found a partial solution - start Skype in Win 98 / ME compatibility mode. Skype opens but the video & audio quality is poor. I have Skype installed on 2 desktops with Vista & Win 7 & it works perfectly, so the fault must lie with my HP laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: if I disable video IDT Audio Device Codec drivers Skype works well (in Win98 / ME compatibility mode) without sound. This suggests that the audio drivers are the cause of the problem - there are several posts on this topic. I tried to install an older driver (6.10.6225.0 instead of 6,10 6276.0) but the program crashes still after a few minutes on a call for the use of the CPU to 85-90%. My machine is the DV7-2030ea with a processor AMD Turion 2.2 GHz, 3 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 graphics & AMD HD Audio. Someone else had this problem?

Tried Skype 5.2 - reluctant to install & video out does not work. Decided to return to 3.6 (360216). Only works under Win 98 / Me compatibility, but No problem with the gel etc even mode after 30 minutes. Anyone with problems above with DV7-2030ea or similar machine spec, I would say:

    (1) use Skype 3.6 instead of a newer version.

    (2) run in Win98 / Me compatibility mode.

    (3) if the problem persists, replace IDT HD Audio Codec drivers with those of Microsoft.

  • Pavilion dv7 - 4263cl: hard drive problems

Long story short, OS could not start windows with a missing BOOTMGR message, recovery disc, not work, ordered new HP recovery disks.  To cover, I ordered a new hard drive to replace it, with the same characteristics but a 1 Toshiba to.

OK, installed the hard drive and used recovery disks at HP, but when you restart always get BOOTMGR missing error message.  Make a new recovery disk for windows 7 64 bit internet and serious on a bootable CD.  It starts, but found recovery does not list an OS system on hard drive.   Did the hard restart more once, install hardrive checked again, the cables and connections.  Took another installation of the HP recovery discs and also led a bootable disc that was to fix the problems with installing a new HHD and activation of the HHD working properly. Working always nothing. Get the same message.  Cast recovery manager got into the prompt orders and done a repair of the bootrec nothing / new. Checked the directory and found at the bottom of the list that it lists zero OS System.  So, how can I get my hard drive formatted to accept the installation of the OS? Any ideas to try, I have read and tried all the messages, I could very well on this forum.   Thank you...

Thanks for the reply, yes my hard drive failed and I installed a new one, but after using the purchased HP recovery disc though HP, showed that a black bootmgr error saying screen was missing.

Found on the HP disks partitioned hard drive, with windows on X:\ but was again start-up C:\ which was just a recovery image.   X drive was not complete, he lacked all the drivers and could not activate or change and C disc drive letter. I didn't know how to do this in the command prompt.

Fixed my problem with a windows 7 installation no disc not the recovery disks that came from HP, if all goes well, they will work to reinstall all drivers to the laptop, but we'll see.  Used (computer repair) on the installation disk and it repaired the bootmgr.  Thanks anyway...

  • HP Pavilion dv7/entertainment - Ethernet connection problem

The computer was always well connected to wireless networks, but I moved to a new place and can't get my computer to connect to the internet. I ordered a former gateway wireless via amazon but sent back because I thought that the antenna did not work. However, now I am trying to set up internet via an ethernet cable and cannot.

I tried two different cords ethernet without a bit of luck. Google research, I determined that there should be LED lights next to the port (?) Ethernet on the computer, but there is not all the lights on with a rope. I have tried countless attempts of troubleshooting and many "patches" of others, but nothing has worked. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software of all the network/internet conncections via the HP Web site. I can't get the internet to work!

I am currently connected to the personal hotspot that produced my phone, but I can't sustain that without exceeding data limits cell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, thanks for your answer!
After all a lot of trouble, I have established that BOTH the router I purhased and the Ethernet cord I was good did not work properly! (The antenna on the router is malfunctioning and was working as the Ethernet cable when at a specific angle, which is why it seemed to work at first, but not after other attempts). I have since been able to get a new router and an Ethernet cord and am happily connected to Internet.

    Thanks again!

First, take out the HARD drive and put the screws to the right to maintain and replace the HARD drive and reboot again. It could be that the missing screws causing the HARD drive vibrates too and make the heads and causing the HARD drive having problems.

If you do not, use another PC to create a rescue CD Windows 7.  Download the ISO relevant among the links below.

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Windows 7 64 bit

You must use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  One time created, or if you already have this, typing away at the esc key when you launch Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Insert the rescue CD.  Select boot options (usually f9), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.  You can also get a prompt to "Press any key to" continuous - it if requested.

When loading, select repair your computer and choose the command prompt.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup
