Pavilion dv7-4070us Fail short DST (failure ID PKVV5g - 5525T 4 - XD003G - 60QN03)

Hello

Last year, I bought the laptop from HP Pavilion dv7-4070us, running windows 7 64 bit. Everything was fine and dandy until recently. These days I only watched youtube videos and TV shows, when one day I turn on my computer to find that it remains on the splash screen of Windows 7 for an abnormal amount of time. This happened to me once before, but for some strange reason, (FYI: I'm tech savvy, so this question was a little weird) it was set the last time. However, unlike last time, the issue has not been resolved, the loading times still takes like 5 min or more. More when I run the diagnostic system test, the hard drive failed the short DST with the id of the fault: PKVV5g - 5525T 4 - XD003G - 60QN03.

In addition, I ran the (samsung "collaborates" with seagate) drive hard seagate diagnostic with the same result, short failure of DST, but generic long and short generic and chip is checked and passed. So I was wondering if anyone had this similar problem and how did you resolve the situation. Again, the only thing I've done recently is only go on internet to see youtube and television series/films, only changes would be updated to windows. Another think I really have not tinkered around with the system.

Searching high and low, it seems that I might have to replace the hard drive. However, I hope to not have to do it because the warranty just expired a few months ago. If someone could please answer or help I would appreciate it a lot! Happy holidays.

PS. If you need more information, just ask. Thanks again!

Failure of the DST is always in my experiences of time to replace the hard drive. Better, download your backed up files soon because sometimes the failure comes quickly after this notice.

    Hello:

The short DST failed normally means that the drive HARD must be replaced.

You will need to file a claim to HP warranty service, when you get back from the Peru (if you're not going to be gone too long).

It is perhaps difficult. A failure of this type ID normally means that the hard drive has indeed failed. The boot failure certainly does not validate the error message.

You can try to remove the drive and placing it in an external enclosure to try to recover your files from disk via another PC.

To use your laptop, you will need to replace the hard drive with a new one.

If your laptop is still in warranty, you can Contact HP to make arrangements for a replacement hard drive was sent under warranty (at no cost to you).

  • G6R14UAR #ABA: Hard Drive short DST failure and not able to connect to the computer.

I got the error code 68FN60 - 7M 3801 - RXPR6K - 60R803. I can't connect through an infinite loading screen when I turn on my computer. If I really need to make a new hard drive and is not just another Windows 10 update problem, I know not how to save all my data on my hard drive and put in a new without damaging the PC in the process. I need it fixed as soon as POSSIBLE because I have to find work that is recorded thereon.

Generally replace the HDD is pretty simple. Loosen a plate on the bottom, remove the old hard drive, install the new hard drive. Boot from recovery media to install Windows.

With regard to the recovery of files from the hard drive old-if there is any life left in the drive, it is usually possible to recover most of the files. The simplest method uses a hard drive USB enclosure or a card. Then you plug it into a usb port on a computer to work and can browse the disc hard as internal hard drive. Copy files to the hard drive of the host computer.

  • DST short on a HP Pavilion dv7-6343 cl

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6343 cl with a failure "short DST.  After doing a quick search, I see the same problems, and the solution seems to be to install a new hard drive.  Am I right on this, and if so, how is the best way to do it?  I have to get a new OS also?

A DST short means that the hard drive is dead or is dying. While it's frustrating, it is common for all computers, hard disks (HDD stands for hard disk) to fail.

In response to your question, no, you should not get a new operating system, it means that you need to get the HARD drive replaced. If you have a Dv7 you have at least 1 year if it is a guarantee of 2 years on this subject, so you must call 1-800-474-6836 (1-800-HPInvent) and talk to technical support of consumer laptop.

They will make you jump through a few hoops troubleshooting to get an "error Code" what the tech says exactly what type of your HARD drive crashes was well-known.

From there, the process is fairly painless, they can send you a new HARD drive and the Windows disc and the original schedules there without cost to you. (Warranty covers this kind of thing)

Or if you ask if you are not comfortable replacing yourself (it's pretty easy) to send a box to replace you with a shipping label prepaid to have HP HARD drive and reload windows on it.

Just because your HARD drive has failed does not mean you need to buy windows again, you already have a copy on your computer, it just had a failing HARD drive. Which are all replaced by your warranty.

    Good luck

    Hello

The error code 24 characters ( 0K2B3L-6QL80X-MFPX1A-6-0UD03) is a faliure of the short test (DST) disk Self and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

    Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 62 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery media to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this process is detailed on the following link.

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop: Short DST check failure hard drive?

    I've had this laptop since around to last August and so far he has played normally without any problems. However, this morning the phone became unusable as it would freeze whenever I tried to open anything after the start. Because I could not activate McAfee security, which I do have but have had disabled for almost a month or two because he slowed a little games I rarely use all dangerous Web sites, I have activated the diagnostic system and quickly an error is found with the DST Hard Drive, with the UCWFXL error code - M 7, 7834 - MFPWL1 - 60VM03. I'm not entirely sure what this question means, but I clearly have to solve in order to make use of the laptop again. Since it is a problem of hard drive, this means the hard drive needs to be replaced? Don't assume that someone could tell me what measures should be considered now? Here are the tips from system, in case it is necessary;
