    Hello

Drive smart error 301 indicated fall drive hard/failed hard drives

If you have recovery disks, no need for product key, insert the disc after replaced by the new fair SSD & insert the recovery disks to reinstall everything, including the recovery partition.

You can also order HP recovery discs

You must ensure that the size of the SSD is equal to or greater than the size of the previous HARD drive to perform successfully the recovery discs recovery.

If you have not created recovery disks, you can create one - http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418

    Hello

Big question. Factory reset disks will allow you to bring the laptop to original settings.

If the hard drive is bad or you replace it for a reason any (like changing for one SSD), you can use the same media to reinstall the OS.

    I hope this helps!

If this is the case, it is a disk failure short self-test and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

  • Pavilion g4: hard drive 301 error

I had a hard drive error 301 in my hp pavillion series. I understand that the hard drive has failed. I had replaced with a new one. I would like to know if I could always back up my old hard drive or to recover my files if I run it in a disk hard slave in another pc? Is there another way I can get back my old files?

    Thank you

    DAY

If there is any life left in the drive, it is usually possible to recover some of the files. The simplest method uses a hard drive USB enclosure or a card. Then you plug it into a usb port on a computer to work and can browse the disc hard as internal hard drive. Copy files to the hard drive of the host computer.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119tx HARD drive upgrade question

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119 notebook tx. I am facing a SMART hard disk error and I need to replace it with a new hard drive. It currently has a capacity of 640 GB 5400 RPM HDD Toshiba. All I want to know is can I replace it with a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM (with SATA 6.0 GB/s)? May be I have to 5400 RPM (with SATA 3.0 Gbit/s)?

    Hi kiranmanju

After some reading on this subject, I think I'll go with MistaB.

SSDS and hard drives are treated in the same way by the operating system, and they are easily interchangeable. So no, you shouldn't have any problems during the installation of a faster 7200 RPM drive to replace your current drive to 5400 RPM.

There are only a few things you need to know when buying a compatible disc:
    (A) interface: the vast majority of readers is SATA, and it is what you need
    (B) 2.5 "or 3.5": the first is for laptops, the latter is for desktop computers
    (C) drive height: most of the hard drives 2.5 "are 9.5 mm, and it's what fits most laptops. Some high-capacity drives are 12.5 mm

Other than that, the rest of the variables are related to performance.

but I can't guarantee anything of it now. I don't really know why then the user's Guide for your product just omitted part of 7200 RPM if they do not harm anyway. I recommend that contact HP technical support for more details.

    Thank you

  • Hard drive error code 301

Can I replace/recover my hard drive after receiving the error message "drive smart error 301"?  I have a PC laptop HP G72-253NR, product # LG583UA. I received the error message and now when I turn on my system it will start not and will be automatically forwarded to the Startup Repair. Then, I get the message "a hard drive problem prevents Windows to start."  This leads me to believe that my hard drive failed completely.  My laptop is no longer under warranty and I need a quick inexpensive fix. Help, please.

    Hello

The Smart 301 error would indicate the drive is defective and must be replaced - which is also consistent with the startup error.

Your laptop is considered to be coming with a 640 GB hard drive, but whereas there is little or no difference in the cost, you can just as easily install a 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - the player on the following link is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 50 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • Start up and boot problem. Hard drive error. HP pavilion laptop Home Premium. Windows Vista preinstalled. No cd came with it.

Nothing new added to comp. Got the hard drive error message and followed the instructions to fix/repair. All translations tried (almost every test suggested/memory/hard drive, etc.) could find NO problem with the memory or hard drive.  Once I have pass the problem to boot/start the computer works fine!   Crazy!  Any sugg. would be appreciated.

    Hello

    ·        Since when are you facing this problem?

    ·        What are the fix and repair that you tried to solve this problem?

    ·        Outside this disk verification error, do you get any other error message?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to do a scan of the SFC. File system (CFS) Auditor verifies that all Windows 7 system files are where they should be as they are by default and not corrupted, changed or damaged.

    ·        Click Start, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator.

    ·        Click on continue or provide administrator credentials if prompted.

    ·        In the command prompt window, type the following text, and then press ENTER:

    ·        sfc/scannow

    ·        You should see the following message on the screen:

§ Begin the analysis of the system. This process will take time.

§ Beginning verification phase of system scan.

    ·        % Of verification complete.

    ·        Once the scan is complete, a test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved or not.

For more information, see the article mentioned below.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to set Chkdsk to run when the system restarts the next time. Follow the steps mentioned below to set Chkdsk to run when Windows Vista reboots the next time.

    a. click on start, then run.

    b. in open, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

    c. use one of the following procedures:

Procedure 1: To run Chkdsk in read-only, at the command prompt, type chkdsk, and then press ENTER.

Procedure 2: To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume: / f, and then press ENTER.

Procedure 1: To run Chkdsk in read-only, at the command prompt, type chkdsk, and then press ENTER.

Note: If one or more files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message is displayed:

    a. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    b. Type O, and then press ENTER to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

Procedure 2: To repair errors, locate bad sectors and recover readable information, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume: / r, and then press ENTER.

Note: If one or more files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message is displayed:

  • SMART Hard Disk Error - replace hard disk?

A couple of days, I got an error when I start my computer (HP Pavilion dv6-6071eo), saying "SMART hard disk error" followed by a message telling me that SMART disk check has detected and imminent failure. He told me to my backup files, and then press F2 and do a hard drive test. On the last row, it displays "Hard Disk 1 (301).

I tried to run the hard drive test, which does not instantly. I also ran the BIOS hard drive test. It meets the short test without problem and then stopped quite some time after the long trial began with the error "Disk Hard 1 full 305. My computer has also been slow over the last week.

From what I've read so far, it seems that I need to replace my hard drive. Is this correct? If so, it would be a suitable replacement (functional): http://www.dustinhome.se/product/5010151237/western-digital-black-2-5-320gb-7200rpm-sata-300-16mb/#i.... Also, would it not interesting (and possible) upgrade to an SSD for reduction of noise and heat, which is a problem with this laptop (and several other portable simular at HP) compared to other laptops.

In addition, it might be good to mention that my warranty has expired.

Have you checked to see if there is a free space left on the hard drive? A complete hard drive will make the system work very slowly and it may also keep the system working properly if it is fairly comprehensive. The fact that you take the short test means that there is nothing major to mechanically wrong with the drive. Just right-click on the icon for the main C:\ drive likely "computer: and select 'Properties'.» If the disc is not actually full, then I suggest to replace. If you can afford a SSD, Yes, there is no doubt that is the way to go. There is nothing wrong on one ssd, other than an occasional fight to install it. I have been using SSD for awhile and I had installation problems we often see reported here, but do not be discouraged, we are here to help.

  • Drive SMART 301 error

    Hello

My laptop (HP Pavilion dv6-3175ee) shows a 301 SMART hard disk error and it is extremely slow and hot.

    Help

The best is an SSD, but you would mortgage the farm to get a 1 TB SSD. I suggest a 7200 rpm or a hybrid disc like here:

    Hybrid 1 to $120

    750 GB 7200 RPM $90

Either will be a considerable improvement on the Toshiba 5400 RPM you have.
