Pavilion HPE-H8-1221: will be a job of it Gigabyte Nvidia geforce gtx 980 with the mother of HP H8-1221.

Nice day

Looking to upgrade my Pavillion H8-1221 son with a better graphics card, currently it is running an EVGA geforce GTX 660 and we are looking for upgrade to GTX 980 it.  I was wondering if this will require an upgrade mobo as well or is the OEM card sufficient to manage this card.

Thanks much for any help.

SonicRising, welcome to the forum.

I don't think that the video card will work on his computer.  980ti GTX requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  The only BIOS update that is available is to win 8.  You will need to update in 8 Win.

Regarding the upgrade of the motherboard, HP has their motherboards manufactured to their specifications.  Therefore, you must buy a Board that has holes that will correspond to the accessory in the case.  In addition, connectors can be owners, and may not correspond to those of the species.

  • Intermittent outages Desktop HP Pavilion p6510f - 25 Antec 430 WATT power & NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650

After installing a video card and a new PSU (Antec 25 430 WATT power & NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650), my system has become unstable.  It worked fine for the first 3-4 hours, then had a BSOD (blue screen of death) with kernel_data_inpage_error 0000007 a and later a 000000F4 of critical failure of the process.  I did all the tests mentioned on this page but also removed and replaced the cmos battery:

    * 1137.html http://www.faultwire.com/solutions-fatal_error/kernel-Data-InPage-Error-0x0000007A-

All the tests passed and no problems have been found, and yet the system still does not work after 3-4 hours of use.

So, I removed from my system and restored to its original settings.  He seems to be back to normal now (but we'll see how long).

This experience has demoralized me.  This is because I heard other people having difficulties trying to upgrade their systems.  Looks like he has about a 50% success rate, unless you know what works from past experiences.  I think that the only way to get a system that now has good graphics is a well tested game box (PS3, XBOX or Wii).  Are there any recommended or possibly well tested configurations for this type of system that could give me the quality of a GEFORCE GTX 650 without result in a blue screen or instability for my computer?

Because this computer comes with ATI and AMD parts, I guess that maybe to get an ATI or AMD graphics card would work?  Whatever the graphics card, the 250W power that comes with this system would probably need to be replaced.  Are there any power supplys that recommend or possibly tested?

I realize there are a few questions in this post, but I have a more.  Is there any motherboard of analytical tools to enusre that nothing went wrong with the motherboard?  When the blue screens are produced that it seemed to make strange noises from the drive as he stole it and after the reboot it would sometimes fail to recognize the existence of the hard drive as well.  Given that all the hard drive passed (I also ran SeaTools), which leads me to believe that power is great, but I fear now that if I upgrade the power it will only cause more problems.

The machine was only 2 years old.  It of a shame that it worked so well for so long and then brought by a poor diet.  It is a 750 GB Seagate Barracuda hard drive.

I went back to the power supply and the video card, cut my losses and buy a 1 TB drive.  I cloned the old disk (on fortunately he was still working) and left on for more than 24 hours.  The system is now on his feet and works as it should.  Who will be last and only attempt to upgrade.

  • HP Pavilion HPE h9-1100 Phoen: computer hangs during startup after installation of 970 GTX

    The problem:

So here's the deal. I bought a new EVGA GTX 970 and installed in my office (after you have uninstalled the drivers for my old AMD GPU). When that I start it freezes on the BIOS screen. Press a button and the screen goes black; It is still frozen. Fan works in beast mode, until I turn it off.

    What I tried:

    • I checked for if sure it was well installed in the x 16 PCIE slot and connectors double checked.
    • Checked to see if my motherboard supports UEFI (it does)
    • Using another monitor using vga instead of as before display port.
    • EVGA called and suggested they updated my BIOS on HP site (I think I'm already on the latest version)?
    • Called HP and they said I have spend $250 to have a technician to work on it. (I'd rather not pay nearly as much as I paid for the card to install it if I can avoid...)
    • Remove the battery on the motherboard for 5 minutes then replace and powered with the new graphics card.

None of these things had No effect. (with the exception of the money payer which I have not yet made). I put the old card (Radeon 7670) back in and it started late.

I'm kind of grasping at straws at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to install the card in HP h9 1300 t friend (he also recently installed the same card) it worked fine, if the card is not defective. Then we installed his gtx 970 in my computer. Same results as before. Startup freezes on the bios screen.

Sure that I narrowed down it to a compatibility problem with my motherboard. I ordered a new one, the ASRock 970 M Pro3 AM3 + / AM3 AMD 970 + AMD SB950 6 x SATA 6 Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (bite). I'll post here once again with results once it arrives here in a few days. I cross my fingers.

    Hello

The level of the BIOS of your PC is not compatible with the video BIOS in the NVIDIA GTX 970.   You need a BIOS to version 8 HP which is not displayed for your PC.

BTW - A replacement of the card mother not HP will require a new license of Windows.

  • How do we install a nvidia geforce gtx 260 for a HP Pavilion p6620f?

I opened my computer case and I can't find the two connectors 6-pin which requires that the video card.  What should I do?

You will need to purchase a new power supply as the Corsair CX500 which has the 2 PCIe power connectors on it. Alternatively, you may be able to find an adapter that changes to a PCIe molex connector, but it is not really recommended.

Everything in the desktop computer is the same, except that I replaced the power supply with a Corsair CX600. As is all other compatible with the motherboard Angelica 2 graphics cards? Thank you!

    Shadgam, welcome to the forum.

New after the 640 GT video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of the standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.

I see no reason why the GTS 450 (see card) is not working on your computer.  Your motherboard has a PCI Express x 16 (Gen.2) slot.  You can always call the manufacturer's Technical Support to make sure the card you have chosen will work.

  • HP Pavilion HPE h8-1222

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion HPE h8-1222 gaming PC.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit which is the operating system supplied with the appliance.

So far, I tried to play 2 games on this machine.  One was Skyrim and the other is The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings.  Both work very well on the mediocre graphics settings but when I try to change things all the way up to my frame rate drops to about 10 frames per second.  With Skyrim, I thought that maybe my system was not good enough to play even if I radically exceed their recommended system, but now with The Witcher 2, a game that is one year, I should certainly be able to play with the beams graphics.  What I found browsing the web, it's that he is and has been for some time a update for the graphics card Radeon 7670 with the delivered machine.

What I learned in trying the update, is that Radeon 7670 is an OEM for HP device.  Someone suggested that it is a rebranded 4850 (I think), which explains the poor performance.  Whatever it is, although it would appear there is no update for this card on the HP website there is a floating around the world that could solve all my problems.

My questions are, did someone knows if there is a way to get a driver for this card which will install (that I found when I can't install google (said windows it can not find a better driver installed even when I point to where the driver is)) and secondly does anyone know some if this graphics card is a propper 7xxx or has HP it marks so as to mislead?

Any help that anyone can provide would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello

7670 Radeon has a bunch of 64 GB/s memory bandwidth, which is the same as the ATI 4850.  You can see this table if necessary for ATI video cards.  Note the absence of the 7670 located on this site. The 7670 is DirectX 11 rated and the 4850 is only DirectX 10.1.

This site does not have the full results of the 7670 but there not the 7770which is a model at the top of the 7670.

Your last message mentions the Radeon 4890 is 125 Gbps and is rated to DirectX 10.1.  The new AMD Radeon 6850 is faster than the 4890 and is designed for DirectX 11.  The this comparison between the 6850 and the 4890.

The games you mentioned both take advantage of DirectX 11 where the reason to reference this feature.

  • Can I put the radeon performance low hd 7450 to graphics Nvidia on Pavilion HPE h8-1234

I use Nvidia video cards to upgrade my graphic instead of sticking to the Radeon card that my processor AMD based Pavilion HPE h8-1234 Office came with?  Would be to use 2 monitors (24 "and 22").  Computer used for photoediting (Photoshop CS6, LR4) + HD video playback.

Windows 7 64 bit, core AMD FX 6120 6, 10 GB of RAM.

Are there problems in the sectoral approach get the computer up and running again?

    Thank you!

    Hello

A video card with certain powers, such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 it in the office, I use, requires a minimum of 450 Watts and two PCIe 6-pin power connectors to operate. The specification of the manufacturer of a video card will specify what power is needed and how the PCIe power connectors are needed. I usually install OCZTechnology, Corsair or PC Power & Cooling brands that are well known in the enthusiast PC and professional circles IT. avoid no-name brands to avoid disappointment.

This means that the standard 300 Watt power supply of your PC is not just enough.

The video card that is currently in your office is a low-power video card that requires minimal power to operate, but unfortunately also doesn't have a lot of video processing power.

You can find the video that will show you how do it if you feel comfortable enough to make yourself. You can also pay to have done by a tech in a store, if you think you need.

It is strongly recommended that the PSU have the following specs or better. ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2. These specifications ensure that the power supply will have connectors that requires your PC.

Due to the limited space in the case of an OEM PC like yours, it is also suggested that food being of modular type.

  • Upgrade the video card in Pavilion HPE 380t

    Hello

I want to upgrade the video card in my HPE 380 t, currently it has geforce gtx 260, I want to install a geforce gtx 560 ti or 570.

I have 2 problems with the viability of this. 1. space. and 2. Food. Has anyone successfully completed a similar upgrade on this system?

Plug current sys is the following.

    • Intel Core i7 - 930 quad-core [2.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 + 8 MB of cache N3 shared]
    • 12GB DDR3 - 1066 MHz SDRAM [6 DIMMS]
    • 1 TB hard drive 7200 RPM SATA 3 Gb/s of 750Go
    • 1.8 GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
    • LightScribe 16 X MAX drive DVD +/-R/RW SuperMulti

    power of 460 wt

About the food, the psu calculator gives me the following recommendations

I need my current configuration 529W!

    with a gtx 560 ti , I need 513

    with a gtx 570, I need 577W

    This raises a few questions:

    1. How can my system running on a 460wt power if the power supply calculator recommends 529w (nvidia reccomends a PSU 500w for the gtx 260 which is installed on my machine?)

    2. how the song gtx 560 ti could possibly require less energy than my current gtx 260?

    3. could I move to one of these cards without replacing the power supply? (I'd be willing to lose the dvd/rw drive, this falls 30w)

    4. what someone has updated the PSU in a HPE 380 t? Looks like there is a little extra space, but not much?

About the video card itself, I am concerned about the space, I looked inside of the case, there is a decent amount of clearance around the gtx 260, but I'd love to hear from someone who has tried to replace this card.

    Specifications for standard cards are:

    gtx 260 courses:

height: 4,376 inches, length: 10.5 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 500w

    GTX 560 ti

height: 4,376 inches, length: 9 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 500w

    GTX 560 ti super clocked

height: 9.4 inches, length: 11.8 inches, width: double slot

    GTX 570

height: 4,376 inches, length: 10.5 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 550w

bang for buck the 560 ti superclocked is the best deal, unfortunately they are also the most cumbersome...

    All advice appreciated!

    Hello

The difference will be the distance between the power supply and the optical bays can be annoying.  Open your PC and do some measure and see if a thumb causes less issues.  Don't forget the extra cable lengths.

Tip: When you install the new power supply, remove the front cover, lock the optical drive and slide if forward to facilitate the installation of the power supply. Do the PSU upgrade before you get your PC stable before installing new video card.

These "how-to" HP articles should be useful.

The OCZ has a bus verses double 12 volts the Corsair with a rail.  There is always a debate about who is best. Both have advantages and disadvantages.  I prefer implementing the only bus.  The really big PSUS, all seem to have several buses. The material of the size of the bus which had to bear the whole of the amperage on a bus would be rather substantial with very large power supplies and there are other reasons.
