Paviliondv7-6163us QA668UA #ABA: memory

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-6163us QA668UA #ABA, I bought new 4 years ago.

I want to max out my factory memory 6 GB to 16 GB.

I'm sure I'll need two strips of 8 GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory.

What I don't know, is the memory modules to look... I don't want to buy the wrong speed, or something that does not work.

Thank you!

    Hello

    Thanks for the update provided.

I'm glad that the issue is not related to the material.

After reviewing the details of description /, for sure this looks like operating system problem.

Unfortunately, the only option left is to format/reinstall/recovery.

Yes, please use your recovery disc to complete the process.

If so, this is the Manual:

    Your manual

    This applies to you:

Supports up to 2 GB memory max on-board system (for models equipped with processors E1-6010)

'edge' means that memory is soldered to the motherboard as it is the processor... a configuration very low end. You can always resume and get something else?

Sorry, but in many cases, retail dealer does not completely understand what they are selling and people buy these laptops low-end only to be legitimately disappointed in their performance.

  • DV7-6163US: Memory Maximum RAM Support for DV7

I have the Pavilion DV7-6163US with Intel i7-2630QM processor 2.0 GHz. It has 10 64-BIT OS Windows with factory installed 6 GB of RAM. I wanted to update my RAM and therefore verified the CRUCIAL Scanner and it says its 2 GB on a SLOT and 4 GB on another location. It is said further maximum memory: 8192MB.

I checked the documentaition of the laptop and it has two contradictory statements.

1 place that supports up to 8192 GB of RAM. and in another place he says

    Supports the following configurations:

    • 16384 MB total system memory (8192 × 2)
    • 12288 MB total system memory (8192 × 4096 + 1 × 1)
    • 8192 MB total system memory (8192 × 4096 or 1 × 2)
    • System memory total 6144 MB (4096 × 1 + 2 048 × 1)
    • Total system memory of 4096 MB (4096 × 2 048 or 1 × 2)
    • Total system memory 3072 MB (2 048 × 1 + 1024 × 1)
    • Total system memory of 2048 MB (2 048 × 1024 or 1 × 2)

So I intend to add 8 GB X 2-16 GB of total RAM. If my system will support it?

    Hello:

Here is the link for information and options to upgrade product for your PC.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01412768

Yes, you can install 4 GB of memory (maximum is 2 x 2 GB memory PC2-6400).

If you have a 2 GB chip in your PC, simply add another.

It is the memory that I use:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820220279

You can move to the 64 bit OS now because the specifications of your PC it comes with 2 GB of memory, but it will work better with 4 GB of memory.

Here is the link to the guide of upgrade and maintenance of your PC. This will give you advice on how to install the memory modules in your PC.

  • J9M24UA #ABA: updated memory HP 15 laptop computer

    Hey all,.

I just got a F024wm 15 HP smart touch screen laptop. Model #J9M24UA #ABA, 8.1 for Windows 64-bit.    I want to know the maximum Ram I can use at the top of this tower.

It has a 4 GB Samsung 1.333 Mhz chip in there now. It has two bays, but it is blocked by a wire Connection.

    Thank you for your time.

I got it to use with my AR Drone 2.0. There simply not enough memory to open the control prorgams.

This isn't a memory slot. You have the Baytrail by Intel processor which is a bargain procvessor and laptops have a slot unique meory. The other place that resembles a slot can go is not enabled. The only upgrade is to throw out the existing 4 GB module and install a 8 GB module in its place.

Max is 8 GB. Check the configuration of the gollowing document:

  • K7X03AV #ABA: adding memory

I will soon receive my new PC HP Envy 700-515xt.

    Data sheet:

    OS: Win 7 pro x 64

    Motherboard: MSI Kaili 2

    Memory: 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz [1 DIMM]

Processor: 4th generation Intel Core i7-4790 processor image [3.6 GHz, 8 MB of shared cache]

    Video: Onboard Intel graphics card

At the time I ordered it I don't give to much thought, to be honest I didn't know, the memory capacity twin platform processors.  I don't know if the motherboard has dual channel capiblity.

What I've read, it is better to have two Dimms of equal value to take advantage of this capibility. I have now, I wonder if adding an additional 8 GB memory DDR3 - 1600 MHz would be useful or if it is even necessary.

The use of my compuuter is pretty basic with some basic photo work but not all game.

    My questions:

The motherboard above there two-channel capabilities?

I see a significant improvement by adding another 8 GB of RAM?

If so, how can I know what manufacturer of RAM to buy?

    I would appreciate your opinion

    Thank you

    Stan

    Hey Stan,

Yes, the card mother Kaili2 a support dual channel memory.

Unless you run applications that use a lot of memory, then 8 GB should be enough. Review graphs under the resource monitor W7 on the memory tab, and in particular 'fouls hard. "  If you encounter a lot of hard holes while you might need of more memory. You must also consider the amounts of memory allocation.

If you believe that you have need of more memory, then see the tips below.

Your first consideration should be Support HP or HP sales during the consideration of upgrades or replacement of memory. If you want to consider other manufacturers of the best way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the leading manufacturers of memory. I would recommend that you try the tools of these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston andCrucial. Once you have determined the DIMMs that you need, then contact commercial or technical support to check that you have selected the correct DIMMS. If you buy directly from manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.

  • Problem of memory on p7-1451 product # H3Z32AA #ABA Pavilion A10 26 GB of memory (16 GB nine)

I got a new computer for Christmas. P7-1451 A10 processor and 10 GB of memory running Windows 8. I have 25 years as a service technician. I bought and installed 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) in the memory of housing 2 and 4 which gives the total of 26 GB system. I do a lot of video recode and editing so wanted as much memory as possible. However, the system has decided it must place all 16 GB in the reserve of equipment. Now the system is memory hungry when I conducted a heavy load video (edit-recode) see attachedment... http://i1276.Photobucket.com/albums/y468/ur122/OFFICEPC/memoryassignment_zpsd30354cc.PNG

Well, the problem and the cause was discovered. I have over 22 years as a technology service/construction and with all that experience, I am not mistaken most. Well, not as much as I use anyway. Here's how it went down. I spent the better part of 4 hours, check the memory specifications go into my new computer. I was very careful to make sure that all aspecs of memory has been a perfect match. Memory, I chose to buy was not the cheapest but is what I regarded as a great buy. And when I installed it, it appeared in the bios as being correct. Also, she functioned as dual channel ect. ect ect. It also showed in the resource monitor as working as it should. But he had been placed in reserve of equipment for some reason any. All the 16 GB was devoted to the material? However, when the system was put under load, the 16 GB new memory simply disappeared from the system. When placed under load, there is a system crash from memory, they told me. Even if it was a perfect match and showed in the bios and the resource monitor, it wasn't an exact match of the installed memory. No one can explain what was different, but I know now that it wasn't the good memory. I talked with people, I bought it from and they agreed that it was the same thing and should work, but agree now that it was a difference that they cannot identify. So I sent the brief to the United Kingdom (bought on EBay) for credit. Years, I bought memory from Crucial.com in Idaho (State of) and so I sent them an E-mail asking info about new memory for the p7-1451. The next day, they sent me links to what I needed and directed me to a small program that would run on my computer and direct me to a game perfect memory for my system. They guarantee it 100% on all memory their match Department software or tech. It is what I should have done in the first place and saved a lot of work. Yesterday, the memory arrived. I bought a pair of sticks of 8 GB and one 8 GB stick to go with the 8 GB that came with the system. I removed the key to 2 GB factory completely. I placed the pair where the sticks Go 8 & 2 original. I placed the original 8 GB stick into the open slot and paired with the key of 8 GB that I bought. This gave me a total of 32 GB of memory to the system. I pluged it in and turned on and WALA 32 GB showed in the bios mode dual channel. I welcomed the system starts and went at once to the resource monitor and there was all 32 GB of memory and arranged as it should have throughout. Apparently, all memory is not equal even if all the specs show it as being the same. Crucial was the best memory on the market for years. Yes, it was more expensive, but it was a perfect match (guaranteed) by Crucial. Total cost for memory with shipping was $ 140.00. The memory I bought originally was $83.00 PLUS delivery charges. The former said: "you get what you pay for" ensure that rings true here. At full load, (re-encode a video, make an overall picture of the HDD, playback of Netflix in HD) just slows down the system at all. I'm now a fan of HP p7-1451 solid, they rock gentlemen. It is a screamer with the video card of 4 GB instead of start, the memory is all there for use. See the link below for the layout of the memory under load - its amazing.

If you get the error, buy one with the same characteristics as the bad.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP technical support for a replacement of the faulty memory Strip guarantee.

Hello wdh, you could try to go to the ORB start and in the run box, type msconfig. A small window should open and display the Startup tab, click the Advanced tab and make sure the maximum memory box in the right corner is not checked.

Close out of this window, restart the system and then see if the correct memory is displayed.
