PC on the USB backup

I have a Trojan horse on my computer and I was told to backup with a USB key, put the disc on another computer and run security in this regard. Reinstall Windows and then the USB. It also backs up Quicken?

You back up your entire computer, if it is infected.

You back up your files and SCAN them before putting back them in your own computer, in the case of an infection in them.

And no.: Programs must be reinstalled.

See you soon.

Hi, is it possible to copy (or backup) the content of my (NMH305) mediaserver to a USB HDD connected directly to the media server? I tried the utility 'copy' in the file browser, but it will not copy in files on a connected USB device (by clicking on the "copy file" button does nothing).

Is the USB key to your aid in format NTFS or FAT32? If it is in NTFS format, then it could be the reason why you can not write to the USB plugged into the USB port of mediahub. Some linux-based devices do not work well with NTFS format. Try a FAT32 formatted drive into the USB port on the mediahub.

  • MacBook retina cannot find the USB hard drive when it is plugged again

    Hello world

I have a MacBook retina 2015 computers and a hard drive WD elements USB3 that I use as a Time Machine backup when they travel. The drive is plugged into the USB - C through one of the Apple dongles and when I first start the computer, the USB is mounted and that it appears on the desktop. He does everything very well.

When I want to take the machine away, I eject it, wait for the secure message and then physically disconnect the drive. However, when I go back and reconnect the drive, the Mac did not see it. The reader will be able as the light comes on and I can hear it turn. Just, it is not mount and is completely invisible for MacOS.

I checked all connections, even used another dongle - no luck. A disconnect does not set, and I tried to reset the NVRAM. So far, the only solution is to reboot the Mac, afterwards the player reappears - at least until I need to unplug it again.

Anyone got any ideas what is underway and if there is a fix?

    Thank you very much

    Mike.

    Hello, Mike Richards2,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

This is I think understand that you are not able to see an external hard drive when it is ejected, and then reconnect the computer.  I have some suggestions that I hope will help you.

It is important to try to isolate what is responsible for this.  The first thing to do to help isolate what is causing the problem is to start the computer in what is called Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

    Start in safe mode:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.
    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

Once the computer is running in safe mode, see if you can duplicate the issue.  If the problem does not appear, go ahead and try to reboot normally again.  If the problem has disappeared, it may have been caused by a problem of file or directory of cache fixed by booting in safe mode.

If the question comes up, you'll want to check the login items.  Follow these instructions to remove the connection:

OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible connection points

Remove the connection, restart the computer and see if the problem persists.

  • retrieve the time backup machine for new ssd internal

I had to replace my internal HD on a 2012 end iMac, so I went to SSD.

I had saved my first system and files in Time Machine before that.

What is the process of a) formatted internal SSD new and b) recovering the original of external backup Time Machine?

As I have to reseal the iMac just to make it work, I don't want to have to open it again to play with the new SSD!

Hope that you already have a boot USB OS X in hand disc (I always have a copy must have on hand).

Plug the USB into the USB port and Time Machine,

by key pressing 'option' as soon as 'chime' begins.

You can choose the selection of the boot drive.

    OR

If your SSD does not start on her file (e.g. blank) - it should start automatically via the USB.

    (a) - Yes, using "disk utility" - in the menu bar superior, to partition the drive (GUID) first

    (b) then choose 'continue' to install the OS X - at the end, you will be asked few options - recover via Time Machine.

After the restoration, you can run a few updates so that the system will work like the old set up.

Most of the software should work, but somehow, some software required "activation key" again.

Those notorious - Rosetta Stone (language). -J' had to communicate with them, uninstall the old drive first.  Microsoft Office can be too fickle.

Make sure that OS X are the same version (you can't have 10.11 on Time Machine, try using the boot USB 10.10 disk) targeted installed OS X must be the same or more recent than the OS X version of the time Machine.  For example, if your Time machine backup contains 10.10, then you can either use drive start USB 10.10 and 10.11 for the restore process.

  • Installation of OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 via the USB port on the new world Mac?

    Hallo!

I have submitted a similar question pertaining to the installation of Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.3 via USB drive in the section "Mac OS X 10.3 and more", so if you saw that please also answer here.

Here's the situation: I have an iBook Clamshell G3 233 MHz 265 MB SRAM 16 MB of VRAM with 1xUSB port 1.1. I need an operating system installed and the only alternative for Mac OS 8.6/9.2 or OSX 10.1 - 10.3, who is eligible for this machine is PowerPC Linux, which I can only install a copy CLI (Command Line Interface only) of Ubuntu, I strongly prefer not to use. I tried all the methods of creation of the copy USB Installer, I mentioned in paragraph three of this post:install OS X 10.0 - 10.3 from USB on Mac New World? for Mac OS 8.6 and 9.2 disks as well. I have the installation disk OS 8 detail (8.6 green disk with large 8 and photo inside the loop at the bottom) as well as the installation of retail 9.2.1 universal disc (with the big orange 9 on the label), however the CD - R drive is completely shot, as mentioned in the above linked post it can read the disks, but it cannot initialize a boot drive and takes an hour to recognize / + 20 minutes to read a disk sector so the direct installation of disk option is completely.

While unlike the case in the post above, I can actually get my 9.2.1 installer USB disk copy to start, the copy of 8.6 installer refuses to even be recognized in the boot selection menu (Option at startup) and when I boot the 9.2.1 USB install, I get the notorious "the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the not so copied original media on another drive." message.

Once again using my CD player - R is out of the question. I did so that the image is "locked" before writing the USB disk, set permissions for image for 'r - r - r -' and formatted the drive as 'Mac OS Standard' (HFS) before writing, and I still got the message. Here are the best: I've used "ResEdit" on a separate Mac OS 9 installation to remove the 'xboo' resource that checks for the media type of the program "/ System/system files", copied the contents of the installation CD to a folder, replaced "/ System/system folders ' with the amended version, creates a new. Master image CDR CD size 665, 8 MB , the size of the original drive, moved the folder with the copy of the installation disk for the installation of OS 9 separate existing, blessed the 'File system' directory, moved back, filled with the contents of the disk image (including the program updated the 'system'), disassembled the new image, 'locked', set its permissions to "r - r - r" - and wrote directly to HFS format USB drive using sudo dd if = «» image path"of = / dev / 'USB drive number' fixed permission on the new USB installation disk, and he successfully started the installer to OS 9.2 modified in menu selection of boot HOWEVER, at the start of the poster Installer always the same message:" the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the original media, don't if copied on another drive. " Even if the function to manage this scenario has been removed, and all permissions are set up correctly.

I'm doing something wrong? It is even possible in ANY scenario to install Mac OS 8.6 or 9.2.1 installation disk backup direct, or via a USB disk/Flash Drive? Or do I have to buy a new iBook CD - R drive and a Torx T6 screwdriver to replace it just to reinstall Mac OS? Like I said before, we will find more details on the methods tried in the variation of Mac OS X this post link above, so for more information or overview Setup OS X with a USB drive instead of Mac OS just reply to this post. Any help or suggestions are appreciated, and I need an operating system installed on this machine outside the only command line Linux evil. Thank you!

Mac of this generation will only boot from the internal drive, CD or Firewire.  I just heard rumor a few PPC Macs can boot from USB and it is probably for some OSX version.

The devices are all compatible. Service pack 2 is installed, and all the hardware drivers on the toshiba have been updated... again, same problem.
The toshiba is about 2 months old and have had this problem since I got it. First I thought it was the drvers, but I cleared of all (?) other options but the USB ports.

    Hello

Believe me, that's not easy to say what the problem may be. It is important to see if the problem occurs because of hardware or software may be. I recommend you to backup all your data and reinstall the unit using rescue media. On this way the unit will be factory settings and will be clean preinstalled. Test your USB devices and see what happens.

Try to use some standard like USB stick or external HARD disk parts, because in this case, you must not install any drivers please. If you use other devices like USB webcam with own software and drivers, it is possible that something goes wrong, but what. On this path, it is not possible to say.

  • How to upgrade the already encrypted files on the USB HDD with new XP Recovery certificate

I backed up the files encrypted in My Documents on a USB drive on which these files are also encrypted state. My computer crashed so I reinstalled the operating system. I wanted to send records encrypted USB HD to my computer or tried to copy projecteurDu and paste them into My Documents. I could not do this because I got "an error occurred in the application...". access privilegesDo i., access is denied. "I created a new recovery certificate and put in place a recovery agent. From there how I update the previously encrypted files on th USB HDD with the new recovery certificate? I'd appreciate a step by step procedure. Can I select the USB drive in the command line and run cipher/u on this drive or make the command/u of encryption on the computer without connecting to the USB HDD

Sorry to say that my bet is that you never gain access to these files again.

When you created the files encrypted, Windows creates a key for decryption to access these files and stored, encrypted in your certificate store.  When your system crashed, the decryption key has crashed with it.  Without this key, you will never have access to your encrypted files.  If you have recovered from a backup image-style, you should be able to access these files.  If you've recovered by installing Windows from the installation disc, then you have created a new and different installation with different Secure ID (SID) and a certificate store empty.  A recovery agent will only retrieve encrypted files that were created after that recovery agent was in place - as a new certificate.  What you really need to do, it's your old certificate to restore the backup that you created when you started using EFS.  The following article is mandatory for anyone using the EFS file system.  Special attention to the paragraph entitled "why you should back up your certificates.

"Best Practices for encrypting file system"

If you do not have a return to the top of your certificate, then things look dark.  There is a program called "AEFSDR' whose 'professional' version comes through what has not been overwritten on your hard drive in search of remains of certificates that could be delivered together to recover.

    Good luck

  • Problem with the files not showing (after changing the USB mode)

I have a sansa fuze 4 GB. version V02.01.09A. OS: Vista Service Pack 1. My rocket was working fine until about a week ago, when it stopped charging. but after installing the new norton 360 sansa is more appeared in my computer or Windows media player at all. I tried updating the driver but it says that the pilot was already up to date. I tried other USB ports again (front and rear), did not work. I decided to change the USB mode and it has finally started to load again in MSC mode.

now, for the problem I currently have and, when I click on sansa via my computer and go to the music folder, it says "this folder is empty". I unplugged and watched in my music list, and all the music is there. I tried to put a new song on the player, disconnected, and when looking through the songs of the player the new song is here. I reconnected it, the new song is in the music folder, but the other songs are not listed. In addition, I have a microSD card that is listed as "o" in the car, all the songs I had on this appear, but not those on memory internal to the sansa.

How can I get again list all music files in the folder?

Note: I do not sync as it has only some of the songs I want on my sansa. the way I add songs is to copy and paste to the folder of the sansa player

Okay, I don't know why or how, but it works now in MTP mode. I saw you are solutions, but I decided I'll just change the mode before trying to have ideas. until I reconnected it I also removed the microSD card, and it worked perfectly (make a backup of my songs). the problem could have the sd card in all this time?

  • When you try to restore the system using the system image, Windows 7 does not find the USB HDD.

I have 3 computers backed up with their images of system on an external USB drive.

However, when you try to restore a computer using system image, Windows 7 fails to find the USB HDD.

I think it would be probably due to the fact that the WindowsImageBackup folder is probably not in the right place or a superfluous folder. Here's an example of how my disk backup has arranged record...

    Root for example E: /.

I realize that the WindowsImageBackup folder should be at the origin, so I moved this computer folder #1 a less E:\

However, restoration is unable to find it and can't even see the USB HDD.

Can anyone offer advice on what I can hurt?

Original title: restore the System Image

Thank you all for responding with your advice and suggestions but the failure has been a bit of my doing (?).

When I went to another port for the USB, everything worked fine! Simple solution, that I should have tried first - duh! :-)

My USB 3.0 4TB drive was originally on a port USB 3 (which was either missing or not recognized by my Bios) and when I changed my old disk ports USB 2, everything has worked well!

    Thanks again, all...

  • Therefore each SATA in my Win7 x 86 device listed as an ejector device when I'm ready to eject the USB device?

Just at the moment where I thought that my Windows 7 Pro 32 bit environment worked perfectly, one day, I was ready to eject a USB device, I plugged, I saw ALL my devices SATA appearing alongside my USB items which have been plugged, including my C drive!

Why is this?  How, all of a sudden all my readers (internal and external) appear as removable safely disks in my Win7 32 bit and not in my Win7 64-bit (yet)?  And how can I fix this problem so that my SATA devices are not among my USB devices?  One SATA device should be listed; and this is my backup of Master, plugged in a socket of SATA_A1, for which the SATA_A2 is shared by the eSATA plug.

Here is a little information about my hard drives and the ATA channels to which they correspond:

    B: System reserved / F: 64 - bit Windows 7 - ATA Channel 0

[Simple walk; reserved my win7 system 64-bit is not hidden to prevent my win7 32-bit access it.]

    X: Master Backup - ATA Channel 0

[No misspelling; my Device Manager is showing TWO ATA Channel 0 s in the list of ATA/ATAPI IDE controllers.]

    C: 32-bit Windows 7 - ATA Channel 1

    [The main reader.]

    ATA Channel 1

[Unknown as of yet what this ATA Channel 1 corresponds to.]

    Primary data G: - ATA Channel 2

    [For additional storage.]

    Secondary data H: - ATA Channel 3

    [For additional storage.]

    D: Blu - ray - ATA Channel 4

    E: DVD Burner - ATA Channel 5

Now for my Win7 64-bit, Disc C installation (which is my first hard drive) represents my 64-bit Windows 7 and partitions B and F (for my second hard drive) my 32-bit Windows 7 with its partition system reserved for B.  Everything else is the same, but...

... In my Win7 64 bit environment, my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers list has only 2 ATA channels; 0 and 1, no duplicates.  I haven't checked for correspondence of these channels, but I'll bet that channel 0 belongs to Drive X and 1 channel belongs to the C drive.

How is it that, in my environment 32-bit, an ATA channel has been assigned to each disk in my machine, and how to disengage and remove the assignments without losing access to all these readers?  I don't have this problem before, and I can't determine when the problem first occurred.  I can't uninstall ATA channels 2, 3, 4 and 5 of my device manager, afraid that the corresponding drives disappear from my Explorer and becomes completely inaccessible.

UPDATE:  He finds that, for some unknown reason, my SATA AHCI controller has been replaced, which displays all my readers as removable.

First thing I did was make an update, I think it was almost a downgrade, to the standard AHCI driver provided by Windows.  All readers always displayed as removable.

Then I did an update; This time, instructing the Device Manager to search for the driver accompanying DVDs of the card from my mother...

... And here!  After a restart, only displayed as removable drives are X Drive and everything I plug into the USB ports.  In my device manager, only ATA 0 and 1 (no duplicates) channels are displayed.
