PERC H200 RAID driver

Buenos dias,

Estoy mirando comprar a servidor para the tests, y queria choice esta controladora PERC H200, pero leei as bajo VMWARE EX 4.1 no rinde muy nice, alguien a tenido the experience?

MUCHAS gracias

The H200 controller does not support BBU (battery write cache stamped) which is absolutely necessary for disk performance on ESX (i) with local storage VMFS data warehouses. No matter what controller you get make sure there the fallback option.

    Hi all

    I have a DELL PowerEdge R710 with a controller RAID PERC H700.

I try to install Windows 2008 Std 64 bit, but I can't find the driver. Even for the site web at support.dell.com. Can someone help me.

    THX in advance

Even if you use a driver of 2008, it should at least recognize it, then you must be using the wrong driver or something wrong :)

If you are installing 2008 R2, make sure that you use this file:

If you install 2008 x 64, make sure that you use this file:

With one, you must first unlock the .exe (right click on the .exe, properties, unlock), unzip / extract the files (run it and make a note of the default location), and then copy the 4 files on a CD, USB, etc., then when Windows tells you that he is not all hard disks, click on the link drivers load below to load the drivers from the media you have chosen.

  • T110-II w / Perc H200, using consumer SSD RAID1

We just took in a T110-II with controller Perc H200 RAID addon

We want to use it as follows:

    2 x SAS k 10 600 GB HDD RAID 1 (DATA)

2 x SATA SSD 120 GB RAID 1 (START of the OS)

Now the SAS 10 k in car I am able to create the RAID 1 volume, but when I try to create the SSD RAID 1 volume he always tells me that there is a problem writing in non-volatile memory.  The menu of the controller goes on a 'lag' super slow mode.  Requires a reboot, but then it get stuck at the 'screen of boot... '. ».  The only way to return to the menu of Perc H200 is to unplug all SSD.

The SSD that I use ARE consumer Kingston KC300 level I also bought from Dell.

    What I am doing wrong?

Question 2: The firmware to start for the H200 said that it is 7.15.xxxx is that correct?  Cause, I'm looking at the technical support from Dell and the version number of the firmware is much smaller.

What is listed as the firmware version in the newspapers during the process of our PERCs controller initialization and controller is generally not what we call the version of the firmware. He is usually listed as the version of the package by the controller.

  • PowerEdge T110 II/PERC H200 drive Expansion Question

We have a server PowerEdge T110-11 with two 600 GB 15K SCSI disks in a RAID 1 configuration via a PERC H200 controller.  This server is used in a production environment.  We want to add an extra internal drive on the server, but the readers (or reader) not be used for archival purposes.  Check-in will be only done periodically at defined intervals.  The plan of production a need for speed and redundancy of the RAID/SCSI setting.  The drive to check-in will not.  I don't know what is supported by the PERC H200 beyond two units SCSI that we have.  How would you recommend that we do that?  Should we buy two SATA drives and use them in a RAID 1 configuration as we have for SCSI drives?  All readers are saved on a Dell RD1000 disk cartridge system, in a way.  I don't know if we need RAID for this disk to archive, because it will be backed up regularly.  Others grow here to use an external USB drive for archiving, due to their very low cost.

Thanks for your suggestions, you can offer.

    Hello.

Support-T110 II up to 6 hard drives. It wouldn't hurt to implement these drives in RAID 1 or RAID 5 (for more than 2 disks) configuration just in case of failure before the archive is saved. If your archive is not so important, you can set the drives in RAID 0.

  • BSOD drives when adding T110 ii with PERC H200 and SBS 2011 or Server 2008 R2-

Bought the server next in November 2011

    PowerEdge T110 II

    RAM: 16 GB (4 x 4) 1333 mhz UDIMM DualRanked

    RAID: Map Perc H200
    Drive: 2 x 600GB 15K RPM SCSI 6Gbps 3 .5in - RAID 1 Mirror SA
    SBS 2011 standard x 64 (works on Win 2008R2)

SBS 2011 installed without a problem and the server works perfectly since December 2011.  Backups occurring twice per day to a USB attached hard drive external 1.5 to and OS patches applied on a monthly basis without problem.

Company need more storage so it wanted to add 2 drives more (same spec as to purchase). I thought to try to turn the RAID 1 pair in RAID 10 set in order to keep the simple logical configuration (a single large logical volume which now seems to be 1.2 TB in size instead of 600 GB) - could get but not really someone to describe if it could be done for non-destructive way that requires not the complete system installation/restoration - so opted for just add the 2 new drives as a RAID extra 1 pair in order to not reach a stable, boot, partition operating system running on the current RAID 1 pair.

Contracted for the Dell technician to come out to install 2 new readers, be clear that the service was not complete until I had an extra pair of RAID 1, appearing as a usable operating system.

Technician arrived, installed readers, set the new RAID pair in the H200 configuration utility, rebooted the system and when the BONES began to load had a blue screen BSOD. Technician then disconnected drives newly associated (the level of the cables) to see if the system would boot - BSOD again on restart (both of now get us this "pleated" feel if you know what I mean). Then went into the raid configuration utility, removed the new raid 1 volume (which, by the way, is appeared above the one existing in the list - which is not very intuitive that one that has been added is Volume 1 and the existing old is Volume 2 in the utility). After the triple-checking that we had the right volume (it showed that 8% initialized over the other which was complete, as well as the corresponding drive port numbers), we have REMOVED the new volume (at this point I don't remember if we had replaced the cables for the readers to perform this action).

At startup the system rebooted normally - we were all so relieved, don't talk over retries at the moment.

Talk to Dell there seems to be a problem with the PERC H200 firmware or drivers. Has not affected the config initial of a single pair of RAID 1, however caused problems when you attempt to add another pair. Escalation of Dell support said that has happened several times with Windows 2008 (which comes from the SBS 2011) systems. They recommended that the firmware update and the PERC H200 card drivers.

I turned to the technician and asked when we could plan the updates of the firmware and driver and told him that they wouldn't do that (not sure that I blame the poor guy, he was sweating bullets after the BSOD 2nd).  I explained that we have contracted for installation services which included ensuring that the pair of extra disk appeared also usable for the operating system and he said that I needed to talk to Dell that.

You wanted to post information on issues with PERC H200 BSOD when adding disks on Win2008 (or SBS 2011).

Waiting for response from Dell as to who will come on-site to complete the installation.

Any info about the question to know if the update of the firmware/driver will solve the problem or if I can do with reliability a disk 2 RAID 1 for a 4 disk RAID 10 conversion without having to reinstall/restore system would be appreciated.

There is NO migration route TO or FROM a nested RAID levels (10, 50, 60) on one of the PERC H series, so it goes from 1 to 10 of RAID is not an option (without backup/replace/create/restore).

Firmware release notes do not indicate that a large part is added (although the "bugs" may be enough):

-Addition of Support for > 2.2 to SAS hard drives

    -Small bug fixes

I have not seen/heard talk of this problem (I don't have a H200), but it is possible that an update of the firmware can change the way it handles the new disks, newly configured RAID arrays, or even how it presents to the OS.

Do you know if the technician checked to see if the original VD was marked as boot VD?

  • RAID 1 on PERC H200 showing the two failure predicts hd

I have a Poweredge R210 with Raid 1 on a PERC H200 controller.  I ran the task of consistency check on the disk virtual and got a bunch of error ID 2350 reading the newspaper of alerts:

There was an error of irrecoverable during the rebuild disk media or recovery operation

-they have been saved to disk 0 and disk 1. Is it possible to rebuild the mirror on that?  Both hard drives are showing "failure foretold" in OMSA.  From what I can tell, replace a hard drive at the same time does not work, as resynchronization will fail.

    Ashevis,

You are currently able to boot on the table? If yes then we run a Dset on the server to check the log of raid controllers. It might actually be a punched tape of parity. That's when the bad blocks of failure provided are rebuilt on the remaining good disks. That is what can cause both be showing predicted failure. Now, it may be also that readers just hit the threshold at about the same time and scored them both. We will be able to say that, with the controller log.

If it's a punched tape of parity, then you will need to recreate the table and the operating system and restore from a backup. No doubt.

If it's just that they are marked and then he would have a chance of recovery by rebuilding each, but there is always a risk of failure pred transfer of bad blocks, during reconstruction, the new disk. What causes a puncture.

So, in summary, that the best course of action would be to backup the data, recreate and do a restore.

  • PERC H200 on SBS2011 RAID configuration

    Hello

Is someone can you please tell me if there is a management tool of Windows OS database for Perc H200 Dell RAID controller? I spent hours searching the web and the Dell Web site looking for an other than the utility based BIOS configuration utility (which sucks). I want to be able to check the status of my RAID1 mirror without having to stop the server. Seems reasonable. I was always able to do on the HP kit.

There are many mentions of Dell OpenManage, but when I downloaded and installed it tells me that it cannot be installed on a domain controller. Obviously nothing I can do about it on an SBS system.

Is there another utility of Windows, I can use?

This information must be so easy to find, but Dell support site is poorly organized, so I hope someone out there can help you.

    Thank you very much

    Paul

Not really hard to find... you just know what to look for.

    OpenManage Server Administrator:

    ftp.dell.com/.../OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-WIN-7.2.0-6945.exe

Download and run to extract, choose custom and ensure that storage management is installed.  Add yourservernameoripaddress:1311 to the Intranet Zone of IE.

The supported version may depend on the system that you are using this, but this latest version should work on most, if not all, who can have an installed H200.

  • PowerEdge T310 - PERC H200 RAID1

    Hi all

Bit of a newbie when it comes to RAID configurations in servers and wanted to ask a question.
We have a server with a raid Perc H200 controller and 2 x 250 GB SATA HDD, which has the OS and 2 x 500 GB SATA HDD data/file sharing, both configured in Raid 1
to provide redundancy. My question is, we want to replace drive HARD 2 x 500 GB with 2x2TB readers.
I'll be able to replace the first 500 GB drive with the largest one, reconstruction can replace the second disc. The new 2 TB HARD drive will always appear as a 500 GB and if so, what can do to increase capacity.

    Thank you

    Charles

If you replace each disc and wait that he rebuild, your table will always be 500 GB, and there is no way to use the extra space.  You will need to backup your 500 GB RAID 1, remove the drives, insert larger disks, configure RAID 1, restore the data.

  • SSD compatibility w/PERC S300 RAID?

We have an old PE T110 first generation with a PERC S300 RAID controller and 4x250GB drives. However, because the controller is older, there isn't much documentation about SSD compatibility. Does anyone at - he had success the upgrade of any server/workstation using a PERC S300 with an SSD of any kind in a RAID 10 configuration?

Finally, I don't remember what type of connector is on the existing disks and am a little confused about the difference between SATA and SAS. What normally comes stock with this system and which would need if I moved to SSD? New cables? Anything else I need to know?

    htc2010
is it not reasonable to assume I could just as easily swap on each drive in the Bay, one at a time, with a SSD?

You cannot mix SAS and SATA drives in the same array. Also, you cannot mix HDD and SSD. If SSD does not support the S300, then he cannot know the difference between a SATA SSD and a SATA HDD, so it can work, but 1) I wouldn't rely on it and 2) just know that real RAID controllers, it can be done.

In the end, I don't know if she will achieve your goals. The reason why I asked is because you could just add the SSD as a new VD, then move the files of database, etc. on to improve the speed, but it sounds like a lot of work for little return. I just invest in a backup recovery solution, good. If it can work in a virtual environment?

  • R210 with PERC H200 will increase the possibilities for HD

I have a PE R210 w/PERC H200.  The RAID configuration is RAID 1 2 HD.  I was looking at options to increase the storage capacity.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I read that it is not possible to extend the VFD by improving each hd one at a time to rebuild the RAID VD, then its extension to occupy unused space in HD.  There is no other HD slots available on the R210, along with options to do I have if I want to keep the current VD but increase the storage space on the server?

Backup, replace the disks with the biggest, configure RAID, restore from a backup.

  • PERC H700 RAID 5, 3 disks, 1 Reporting failed and 1 predictive failure

    Hello:

I have a PowerEdge T410 with a PERC H700, RAID 5 with 3 disks.  The controller reported a failed drive so I replaced the week last with a drive of new/refurbished.  Now only 1 week later it reported another drive has failed and the drive replaced as predictive failure.  Looks suspicious, i.e. I am doubting the controller card.

I think updating the firmware of the controller first, but not sure if I should replace the faulty drive first, i.e. If updating the firmware could cause table failure.

Also, if I install OpenManage on a virtual machine (host is ESXi 4.1), OM sees the controller?

    Thank you!
