Performance advantage Express vs extreme

I currently have an Airport Extreme 6th generation attached to a distance from Airport Express generation via an adapter of current line. It is configured as a roaming network.  Everything works fine.  Comcast provides approximately 85 Mbps when I test the speed of the Airport Extreme WIFI, 35 MB/s during the test of the Airport Express.  After finishing College girl I inherited an Airport Express 5th generation.  I see a performance benefit if I swap the remote Express with the extreme?

After finishing College girl I inherited an Airport Express 5th generation.  I see a performance benefit if I swap the remote Express with the extreme?

Probably yes. Since you have a roaming network which depends on Ethernet connections, and the 5th generation extreme ports Gigabit Ethernet 100 Mbps ports on the Express vs.

  • CS 6 install performing some Expressions Encoder

    Hello

I'm on a PC Windows 7 SP1 and you just install CS6.  I use Microsoft Expressions encode to make all my .wmv files and it has always worked well, but after the 6 CS installed when I try to load a Quicktime (no compression, h.264, dnxhd, etc.) in Expression encode the file has a green to him as it lacks the red/blue channels of the file (see the attached image.  Also if I try to use Adobe Media encoder with a quicktime to create a .wmv didn't encode the parameters available for.  Is it some with windows issue me) dia codec and Adobe CS 6 at present?  I can not find discussions about this, but is a huge problem for me, as many customers force me to do .wmv.  Clues to this conflict could happen here?  I am running Windows Media Player 12 and Expressions 4.0.4 free version.

    Thank you

Problem solved.  It turns out that my color in the NVIDIA Control Panel settings have been put out of wack.  What's weird, is that he was only doing the Windows media playback and nothing else.  Thanks for the quick response, however.

  • Is it worth the upgrade 4th Gen extreme 6th Gen with multi-Express configuration?

I have a 4th gen extreme and 3 airport base express (2nd generation), each set up to expand, all connected to speakers of different sizes for listening to music.

Everything is on a floor, not a big house, 920 square feet.

I recently updated my Comcast service to 250 extreme.  Connected by ethernet, last night and got the 275 - ish down.  Pretty amazing.

I have actually never connect by ethernet, everything is wireless.

I have a recent Mac in the room more far-of-router, when I do everything.  A 3rd generation Apple TV is also in the farthest room.

I got a refurb had 6 extreme Gen this week to try to take advantage of the extreme service 250 (I know that I won't do the same ethernet - connects, but...

I am on the fence about the 250 thing).

Implementation of the 6th gen extreme proved to be impossible - it just would not be put in place and I kept getting "unexplained error', whether on Mac, iphone, or ipad.  All new.

And I'm pretty good with this sorta thing.

So I thought, forget it, I'll return it.  Probably defective.

    My question is:

With the multi-express in place, it is useful to make the new ac-router with "n" 3 express on the network?  Or should I just keep the low extreme, 4th-gen my extreme internet service 250 etc..

    Thank you!

If you want to quickly get wireless, the only improvement will be a direct connection to the AC on 5 GHz router which means close and staff.

The express will get no improvement because they are Wireless-N devices... and are perfectly adapted to the existing EI Gen4.

    My question is:

With the multi-express in place, it is useful to make the new ac-router with "n" 3 express on the network?

    The answer is no...

Unless you can get the router AC in a place that the computer connects to the it's 5 GHz directly... which means the same room or adjoining room, perhaps.

You need to run ethernet (or even EOP adapters are not up to 250mbps) to a location near the Mac.

  • Why the extreme to express signal is broken

I have an Airport Extreme b, g, n, ac cable (ethernet) to my router Verizon Wireless. The router has been updated by Verizon end of last year and works very well. From there, I have an iMac with 802.11 b/g/n/ac cable into the extreme as well. I have a Windows pc in another room wired with ethernet to the extreme as well.

At the back of my house, I have an Airport Express b/g/n I used to extend my Airport Extreme signal for the past 18 months without any problem. I had problems of signal with the Express and it seems to re-defining the Express worked, but the image of my signal has changed my Airport utility on my iMac. Previously, the signal was solid from the far down to the Express, and the image on my iPhone 6, at the launch of my Airport utility has been broken from the extreme to the Express.

Now the images are reversed where my iPhone has the solid signal, and my iMac broke the line signal. Someone knows why? It works, but the lines threw me.

A dotted line between the terminal of the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme indicates that the Express connects to the extreme by using a wireless connection.

What do you want?... or... the Express linking to the extreme by using a wired Ethernet cable connection?  If If this is the case, there should be a continuous line between the Express and Extreme.

What device do you have used when you reset and reconfigured the Express... the iMac or the iPhone?

Did you completely turn off the iPhone, has waited a minute or two and then he fed up and checked the AirPort utility again this way?

  • Speed degrades with Airport Extreme

    Hello

I have an Airport Extreme and need to extend the wireless range to improve the signal - so I added an Airport Express.  Setup was simple and I had no problems.  Firmware is up to date on both units.

When connected the intensity of the signal is full, but overall wireless performance decreases over time. I have a 100 GB cable connection.  Sometimes it will get between 75 GB and 100 GB, but most of the time that it is of the order of 20-29GB.  When the Apple Express is connected it can go below 10 GB.

I had the supplier go out and check on the signal of the street in my house and they claim that the signal is very good.  I have read several posts suggesting to change the channel of 2.4 Ghz 11-to-1, so I did.  5 GHz running at 149.

Should I reconfigure the network so the Express is the main unit connected to the Arris SB6121?  Then set up a WAN to the extreme? Or any other suggestions?

    Thank you

Extend wireless will slow dramatic wireless... that is part of what extend wireless because of the design.

In addition, the Express is a slow device... It is not in the same League that the extreme... its absolute maximum speed by ethernet is 100mbit. So it is hardly usable as a primary router.

I doubt, exchanging the roles of the express and extreme will help even if we can solve another problem.

The airport the last extreme IE height Gen6 model is not compatible with SB6121 cable modem. There is nothing wrong with any of them... they do not work together. If you just test the express... but are not wireless extend with the extreme... Use ethernet or ethernet EOP (called homeplug United States) on the power adapters... which may or may not work... but when they are far superior to wireless technology extends the installation program.

Is be another post down 3... It is a common problem.

  • Airport Extreme Gigabit Ethernet and Jumbo frames

    Hi all.

Can anyone support me kindly about Gigabit Ethernet & Jumbo Frames with Airport Express?

I currently have and use a 5th generation Airport Express and you want to buy the QNAP TS - 453 Pro NAS. In any implementation of storage NAS, Gigabit Ethernet, the frames extended as matching Ethernet card well, are all very important to achieve broadband performance, so my questions are:

    5th generation Airport Express

    • Are the NETWORK Gigabit NIC Ethernet card?
    • It also works with extended frames (QNAP NAS supports 4074, 9000 and 7418 bytes for MTU)?
    • QNAP can trunk NIC (if more then one) with the following options:
      • IEEE 802.3ad (dynamic link aggregation)
      • Balance-tlb (Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing)
      • Balance-alb (Adaptive Load Balancing)
      • others (mainly for failover)

Is 5th generation Airport Express enough or should I think about moving to the 6th generation?

    Thank you.

You mix up the terminology... Express and Extreme are totally different.

The title is correct... Extreme... your question text replaces by Express... they are only 10/100... and gen only 2 of them.

    Any airport extreme Gen2 - Gen6

    Use the Gigabit ports.

    Do not support jumbo frames

    Do not support pairing.

  • Airport Express

I have an old airport express (used as an extender) and a Comcast cable modem. In order to get a signal on my iPhone (AT & T), I had a microphone AT & T cell. I can't use the microphone cell as there is only a single port ethernet on the modem. If I buy a new Terminal Airport Express or extreme, either will work as an Extender of the internet to my computers iMac so that boost the signal of my iPhone?

If they both work (see above), port (WAN or LAN) must be connected to the extension of the computer and that for increase of cell signal? Thanks for your help.

I have an old airport express (used as an extender) and a Comcast cable modem.

Extending Terminal AirPort Express? What is the brand and model of the cable modem supplied by Comcast?

If your modem is a simple modem, an AirPort base station would work. For the extension, the 'old' AirPort Express should be a 802.11n model if you want to do it with a wireless connection between base stations.

By "restart my iPhone signal" If you are referring to his cellular signal, then no.. Only the MicroCell can do that.

  • Is Airport extreme dual band

I have a double router band nighthawk netgear as my base station to the floor and I put my Airport extreme downstairs as a wifi extender told me that if my airport extreme is only single of the band will slow down the network of hole. Is this true?

We need the model number of your AirPort Extreme to tell you whether it is simple or double band. The model number is at the bottom of the airport... starts with an 'A' followed by 4 digits.  An example would be the A1143.

Then, it might help to understand that Apple uses proprietary technology to Wireless "extend" a network that is designed to allow only Apple routers extend the signal of another router from Apple.

When wireless routers expand a network, there is always a loss of about half of the potential speed on the network. Nature of the beast with a wireless extension.  This loss can be avoided if the routers connect using a wired Ethernet connection.

You don't specify how the airport will connect to the Netgear network, so it would be useful that you could clarify on this.

It is very unlikely that an airport could not Wireless extend the signal from a third-party router. If your airport is an AirPort Express Terminal, it can probably 'join' the Netgear network so that it will work for AirPlay or allow a remote USB printer to connect.

But the Express (or extreme, if that's what you have) not connect "extend" the network when he "joins", then wireless near the airport unit will always be all the way back to your main router.

So, it might be a good idea to check the settings of the Express using AirPort Utility to find out exactly what it is and is not on your network.

  • Cannot find the Airport Express Airport utility

    Hello

I have a firmware running extreme Airport 7.6.7. 6.3.6 and one Airport utility Terminal Airport Express (model A1392). I have access to my system on a Macbook pro. Also have the app on my iPhone.

My Airport Express and extreme talked to each other and have been broadcast on the Airport utility. However, I had to change my wifi password and the network password. After that, the Airport extreme restarted. After the reboot, my Express was no longer recognized by my network. The Express has a light orange and blinks repeatedly. I can't connect to the express to address the issue of amber light.

I have read many posts on the forum. However, I still have to find a solution. How to connect the airport utility to the Airport express?

Thanks for any help, you can make it,

You have changed the password for WiFi on AirPort Extreme... but... the AirPort Express Terminal was previously programmed to connect by using your password in the "old".  The Express is lost, unable to find the network at all and doesn't know what to do.

You can help the AirPort Express by doing a hard reset on the AirPort Express to clear the old network settings and passwords, and then configure the Express again to connect to your network 'nine' with the 'new' password.

After the back if you don't know how to proceed.

  • express error airport; No DNS server address

    OSX El Capitan

    10.11.6

    MacBook Pro mid-2009

Coupled with Airport Express Airport Extreme.

Time Warner Cable improved the internet in our area and it took a new modem. At the new modem and Airport Extreme works with it, having to put the modem in Bridge mode.

However the station Airport Express a few classrooms is now always flashing orange and the error says "there is no DNS server address.

If I refresh the DHCP lease it will go green, but less than a minute he keeps flashing orange.

    What should I do?

The way this is supposed to work, it's that your main router obtains the DNS server address of an upstream (on the ISP network) server. The wireless access point or router (router in bridged mode) next level gets its the main router DNS addresses. All subsidiary wireless access points get their the next upstream router DNS server address. Your Mac gets these addresses from the router or wireless access point when it gets its IP address.

It is possible that you may need to turn off all routers, then feed their place in the order of the modem to the outside. But once that happens it is likely to have on them.

If no joy in doing that, don't use the Admin user on your main router to see what should be these addresses, write them and enter them manually when you need it.

  • Question extreme airport

I have a problem with my AirPort Extreme, it keeps me internet kickoff I have reset the router no chance. I have two Airport express one extreme and a time capsule

I hard wire my modem and it works

What do I do next was seen the problem for weeks?

    Problem comes and goes

    If bought may 2015

We need to know what you know about the network.

If it's a gateway, it is filled?

How everything is connected... and how can I run all of your Apple routers?

A power failure may cause these routers pass the configuration of evil...

I have reset the router no luck

Did you remove all apple routers... and then use a single... If this still does not work, try the following.

Do not replace the entire network in service until that track down you the culprit... all apple routers should be able to work when it is connected to the modem... Reset each factory and his test ride.

    What model is the TC?

    This model/s are the Express?

    How are they related?

  • Airport Extreme cannot get dhcp network

    Hello

My main router connected to the internet and to act as a DHCP server, the extreme Apple router can join this network and get IP from the DHCP server normally, but all clients connected to Apple Extreme cable cannot get DHCP.

I tested the same configuration but replace Apple Extreme by an Apple Express, the customer may obtain the DHCP when connect you cable.

Anyone has an idea about this?

    Thank you

    Tuan

My main router connected to the internet and to act as a DHCP server, the extreme Apple router can join this network and get IP from the DHCP server normally, but all clients connected to Apple Extreme cable cannot get DHCP.

Unfortunately, it is because, unlike the AirPort Express, the extreme can serve as a wireless Ethernet bridge to provide wired clients with DHCP.

Please please help

I made the switch to Dvorak and love it... but I guess I'd also put off like you if I use QWERTY to my email...

There are a few things you can try.  First, turn on the language bar.   Right-click on an empty space in the tray (usually at the bottom) and select:
    Toolbars-> language bar.
This should put a checkmark in front of "Language bar" and a keyboard icon should appear on your screen.  Then, while you are in an Outlook Express window with the [UM] "undesirable" available, click the icon in the keyboard language bar and try to change the 'United States Dvorak' to 'English United States' (or any English you use).

You can also go to the Control Panel then:
Regional and language-> languages (tab) settings-> details (button)
You will then see the installed keyboards.  The default value will be in bold.  Then click on:
The key parameters-> click on "Switch between input languages"-> change Key Sequence
You can see one of the boxes is checked it will allow you to switch between installed keyboard layouts.  On my settings, I checked the "switch Keyboard layout" and checked the 'CTRL' key  On my keyboard, whenever I hit the shift and CTRL keys at the same time, it passes between the languages of two keyboard... but this come into force in the currently active program.
