Periodically, I get a checkered pattern of missing, transparent rectangles upper-right or lower-right corner while using Firefox in full screen.

I don't know if it's actually a Firefox problem, but I was not able to reproduce it in another program. It is not that the graphics are completely lacking, just everything what needs to be visible in my FIrefox window is not, and I can see the same background blur, transparent image as shown in behind the top border of windows in WIn7.

Use a type of compressed as PNG or JPG image to save the screenshot.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.
