PES 11 - unable to backup catalog on DVD

I can't back up my catalog on DVD.

Through the process of PSE11 tells me that I will need 16 DVD. After that the first or two (sometimes three) I received an error message advising me an error and update the firmware of my DVD burner. I have the latest firmware installed and don't have no multiple DVD burning problems with other software (Nero; (Version 12). I tried Fuji and TDK media and tried burning @ 8 x (my drive and media are both sides @ 16 x). Also, I tried to turn off the power of the media analysis. As a last resort, I uninstalled and reinstalled PSE11. All with no success.

I am able to back up this catalog on an external hard drive, but also a hard drive internal, but want to save on a more stable support (DVD). I can't find solutions, only others with a similar problem, not solved.

Win 7 (64 bit) with all the updates and all the drivers are the latest versions.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

I tried to uninstall the disk in Windows, turned off my PC, unplugged the drive, powering back, stop, re-connected reader and back turned on. During the power up, reinstalled Windows driver DVD.

I then tried to backup on DVD, and it worked!

  • External backup thumbdrive PSE 8 catalog of dvd player and usb

First post here, but have been visiting to learn more about the version windows PSE8 for the last two months.  Recently, I've converted an average size earlier version of PES in PSE8, before moving to one old computer to another.  Now that I organized PSE8 catalog and works the way I would like that, it's time to save everything related to it.  PSE8 backup in the Organizer catalog has not enlisted in action at the moment.

I use a third party software to back up files on my computer manually (don't not automatic) a reader external esata cable hd.  My photos in the catalog PSE file are all arranged in one place ideally organized on the internal drive.  My thought is that I'll use the PSE Catalog backup method in the Organizer to do an initial full and incremental backups as needed for the external hard drive.  My photo file linked to the PSE catalog file, I intend to backup in a different location with the third-party backup software.  The third-party backup software will allow me to keep the structure of the files, uncompressed and native file format, etc. for incremental backup.

I know that's redundant use of external hd space, but I am willing to trade it to keep the photo file linked to the PES in its "original" State  That being said, here's my question:

In addition, I would like to do a dvd set of backup catalog PSE (not the linked photo file) file with the method PSE Catalog backup in the Organizer, full or incremental backup with format dvd - rw media and perhaps a catalog of backup PSE for usb keys.  How PSE8 keep track of full and incremental backups to all three media.  I guess they would have to do as you want to sync properly?  Or backup catalog PSE8 there a way to identify what source is backup and where it stopped (increments)?

Any comments or advice related to the hybrid approach to backup are also welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

I think not that the backup program from the PSE can do incremental backups to several different media. I think that once you do one additional media, there is nothing after backup. Instead, you can use the backup of the PSE to make an incremental backup, then WIndows command to copy this incremental backup to other locations.

Your backups performed by software third party necessary to include the file catalog. You did not say specifically that you did that, then I guess you're not, and this is why I urge you to include the catalog file in your backups.

Of course, all of these backups seem to be exaggerated. Only you can decide what level of protection desired (and how much work you are willing to put into it), but the only thing that is missing in your description is an offsite backup. All backups are useless if you have a fire or a flood. An offsite backup looks like it would be in your obsessive backup procedures.

  • Photosmart D5160 with Windows 7; Unable to print on CD/DVD

I installed my Photosmart D5160 on my new HPE180t.  I used the "HP Photosmart and Deskjet full feature software and drivers" for Windows 7 64-bit.  Before, with Windows XP and HP Photosmart first, I was able to print on a CD/DVD.  Now, HP Photosmart Essential replaced HP Photosmart first, and I'm unable to print on CD/DVD.

This same question was also documented on this forum, but no resolution found: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-and/Photosmart-D5160/m-p/154007/highlight/tr...

I chatted with HP Technical Support online and they had me install Roxio Express Labeler for Windows Vista and run it in compatibility mode.  The result was that I was able to print on a CD/DVD, but the image has been moved to the top.  HP technical support said that I should buy a third-party CD/DVD printing software and they suggested call me Nero to determine what software to use.

    My questions:

    1. is this a known problem, the fact that the D5160 impossible to print on CD/DVD with Photosmart Essential and Windows 7?

    2. If someone has had this problem, what do you do to solve the problem?

    3. Another option would be to buy a new HP printer that prints on CD/DVD?  If so, what printer?

    Thank you very much

old computer: HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32-bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600
    new computer: HPE-180 t, Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), Nvidia GeForce GT 220, Intel Core i7 - 930 quad-core CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8 GB of RAM

That's what I did to solve my problem:

    1. buy a HP Photosmart D7560 h

2 use Windows Photo Viewer to print on CD/DVD

Note 1: The only way to buy the HP Photosmart D7560 h through HP's through its "upgrade" program, because this printer is no longer available via the HP shopping site.  Do NOT buy the D7560 h through the 'upgrade' of HP program because you will receive a refurbished printer.  After talking with the resolution of HP service, they advised me to buy this printer to a retailer who sells this printer yet.  I bought my new HP Photosmart D7560 h from newegg.com.

Note 2: This printer (D7560 h) also uses the HP Photosmart Essential 3.5 when you use Windows 7, like the HP D5160.  When I installed the EP 3.5 and only had a printer is installed (as opposed to a printer and scanner HP), the 3.5 HP allow for printing on CD/DVD via the HP Solution Center.  The problem (not being able to print on CD/DVD via PE 3.5) occurred when I plugged in and installed my HP Scanjet G4050 scanner, which also uses the HP Solution Center.

Note 3: I believe tha the D5160 could work with Windows 7.  It may be able to print on a CD/DVD, if you do not have an another printer/scanner HP device installed on your computer.  It may be able to print on a CD/DVD using the Windows Photo Viewer.

Note 4: To replace the cartridges of 5 ink (XL) on the HP Photosmart D7560 h, it costs a total of $115.

Let me know if you have any other questions.  Bottom line... I am able to print on CD/DVD with the D7560 h on Windows 7 operating system but I don't have to use the Photo of Windows display program.

    Take care

  • How to restore a backup catalog of my images on a new iMac

I have one all my images of almost 700 GB Lightroom Catalog

I did a backup of the settings catalogue (without images) one day before the death of my old iMac

I also have a backup of the images via Time Machine (made daily)

I bought a new iMac and copied images inside of Time Machine - keep the same folder structure. I also have the settings saved on the new machine Catalog backup.

My question is: in the newly installed copy of LR on my new machine, how can I restore and apply this saved catalog related images which are now on my new iMac?  Can I do a new import of images in LR and then somehow apply the catalog, or I load the catalog and then point it to the pictures, that respect?  I tried the latter and all I get is a screen full of blank thumbnails with question marks on them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi KurtHeck

    Greetings!

You must open the backup catalog on your new computer.

    • Choose file > open catalog.
    • Navigate to the location of your backup catalog file.
    • Select the backup the .lrcat file and click Open.

If after the opening of the catalogue you found images as missing.

Reconnect your Images in the catalog suite Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

  • Lightroom: Sync has been turned off. This seems to be a backup catalog...

Lightroom crashed on me and now I get the following message is displayed:

Sync has been turned off. This seems to be a backup catalog that can be updated with Lightroom Mobile.

To ensure that your catalog sync, go to: Edit > Preferences > Mobile with Lightroom and click the button "delete all data" to start over.

I'm in my main catalog, not a backup.

No one knows how to stop Lightroom to my main catalog as a backup? I don't really want to delete all data and spend the next week re - synchronize their brand-new.

I use the latest version of Lightroom CC on a pc Windows 10.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like I fixed it now.

I was in the main catalog, not a return to the top.

The issue seems to be with 1 private collection. No synchronization this collection, Lightroom is connected to the Mobile with Lightroom. I allowed him to delete the files in the cloud, then re - synchronize the collection. It seems to work fine now.

  • Edition of Lightroom Mobile Sync - 'Sync has been turned off. This seems to be a backup catalog... »

Hi, I just tried to synchronize. I am logged on LR5.4 and on mobile. I ran the sync once, that seemed to work. The next time that I'm connected, I got a dialog box saying "Sync has been turned off. This seems to be a backup catalog that can be updated with Lightroom mobile. "To do this, your catalog sync go in Edition > Preferences > mobile Lightroom and click on the button Delete all data.

It is not a backup catalog, is my main and one alone, but I deleted all the data anyway. No difference. When I start the synchronization immediately made up the dialog.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.

    Scott

Scott, you mention in your post "the next time I logged in." do you have explicitly signed out of sync Lightroom Mobile on the desktop after you sync the first time?  Or you might need to reconnect on the launch.  If it's the latter, this should not occur and could be another indication that the catalog you have signed forward is not the same (that is a backup or a copy that is not state same you were when you last signed in).  This catalog is shared between both machines somehow?

If you see this and you are certainly not in a backup catalog, you should be able to perform the following operations with Lightroom close.  This will work better if you did remove all the data, even if it is not mandatory.  If you do not, after relaunch of Lr, we will rebuild your sync status which can take some time depending on how much you have synced.  I wouldn't do this for any other situation.

On OSX: In the Finder go /Users/Data / Sync.lrdata Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Sync and delete it.

Windows: In explore go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Sync.lrdata and delete it

  • Separated necessary backup photos when you use the backup catalog

Well, the title says it all. When I backup the catalog, I assumed that the backup would be mede to al the tags added to the photo. When I check the catalog files, I see a whole bunch of jpg files. My real photo collection contains-jpg, raw an avi files.

I used to make a copy of all my photofiles, but it seems now double

Question: Backup-function of photoshop elements 11 is actually make a backup of tags and photo?

    Greetz, forward a response.

File-> backup catalog creates backups of the catalog file and all the photos in the catalog.

  • My computer is running a backup catalog or the catalog 'master '?

Recently I lost a good amount of work I had done in LR after the deletion of a bunch of my backup catalogs. (RAW images are safe, but all settings were gone).  This leads me to believe that the catalog I was running was stored in my folder of backups and he had a name that made me think it was several months, while he was in fact the most recent catalog.

Then... How can I find out where my catalog 'master '?  It doesn't seem to be residing in the User/pictures/Lightroom folder (this file has a 'last opening' date which is since the beginning of August) and when I do a Finder search for the name of the catalog that is running, this file is located in my internal 320/Lightroom backups .  This leads me to believe that I'm turning one of my backups as the "master" file

I want the catalog I work every day to be located in the User/pictures/Lightroom folder and the backup until found in internal 320/Lightroom backups.

Is this a likely risk or is there something in the outline of production of LR that I don't understand?

    Thank you

    Bruce,

It is reasonable, but it is not what you were doing, of course. Backups are just direct copies of the original catalogue. At some point you can double-clicking on one of them, causing it to be opened in Lightroom. Once this happened, this catalogue has become your "main catalogue", i.e. the default catalog LR opens at startup.

Are your deleted catalogs still in the trash? Did you remove all, or is it a recent that you can copy where you want your catalogue to be? If there is, copy it, and then double-click its icon.

  • Backup catalog is much too large - is it possible to copy a smaller instead?

I just installed PES 13 on a Mac under OS x 10.10. After creating a catalog, I decided to make a backup, but I couldn't believe what happened. It literally took all night for backup to do, and that she consumed 1.5 TB of space on an external drive. It contains a complete copy of each image, which most is larger than 20 MB RAW images. I don't need these images saved - I have already two backups of all original images on different drives - and I can't save another 1.5 TB of disk space for this.

The catalog that organizing PSE actually use - the user > library > file Adobe etc. - is only 900 MB. Of course, it contains copies of all the images. Can I copy this catalogue to a backup disk and send it to users > etc if I need to replace? This will keep information on the sides, version sets and batteries, which is really what I want?

Yes, you can copy your catalog folder where you want as a backup. That will keep everything in your organization. Note the catalog is all the catalog.pse13db database folder and its subfolders and associated files. This folder should not be in the default path, it can be moved elsewhere.

The reason of built-in backup/restore of the Organizer is to provide backup image files and catalogues so that you can restore everything on a new drive or computer, on another operating system or OS version...

If you do not have such a backup, you will be able to restore your catalog and the same disk image files, they are now, no problem. But what happens if your current drive breaks down? You will restore image files and catalogues in another computer... and all the images will be declared missing, given that the new drive not to be recognized. You can use the reconnection of the Organizer function... good luck!

  • Organizing backup catalog

After the installation of 10 items, I did a reconnection, who finished without a problem. Then, I tried a backup of organizing catalog.   Got the message "Preparing."... "that lasted 30 minutes before I gave up.  There was no disk activity during this period.  Then attempted a repair, which seems to do nothing for 30 minutes before I gave up.  Finally, I have made backup once again and it was 2.5 hours before I had an abortion.  Once again, no drive activity.

    Any ideas?

I agree that the codecs does not seem to be the problem.

Before performing maintenance or backup, use Edit... Preferences to disable all the functions of media analysis (and backup/synchronization photoshop.com if you use it).  Also use the file... Look at the files and disable this feature.  Then restart.  The idea is to not have access to your catalog no background processes.

The only other thing I can think is the available free space on your internal drive.  As users, we do not know that PES is done and who need backstage, but a general rule seems to have at least 2 x the size of your catalogue available as free space.

  • For non-hard drive backup catalog

Since the passage in PES 10, I did successfully a full and an incremental backup - the two extremely slow process.  My collection of photos is a bit more than 11000 points.

Then I tried an incremental backup and chose the previous incremental backup as the predicate.  The correct steps are quite clear and any backup approach seems ill-conceived. However, I'm confused.  2nd incremental backup also seems to take a long time, so I left for several hours.

When I got home, I found my iMac as I've ever seen-a blue screen.

I'm pretty disappointed with the design and performance of this backup system. All I really want it back up is the catalogue - there is no need to backup all the media, which she insists.  I have a Time Machine for people who I trust.

Can someone tell me where the catalog itself.  Can I safely simply rely on Time Machine to back up and avoid dependence on the PSE total backup system?

    Thanks for any help.

BU is the whole point of the PSE backup - to backup everything. If you want to save the entire catalog, select help > information system and you'll see the location of your current catalog file. Then just save this file:

I just bought a Photosmart C5380 to replace my Epson sick.  Load on an iMac than 2.4 GHz with Snow Leopard and all the latest updates and drivers.  Prints and scans very well... almost.  I'm unable to printon a printable CD/DVD.  Lower the door CD/DVD and prssing OK brings up a message telling me to use the CD/DVD software to print.  But I can't find anything.  The manual I have in front of me told me I should use the software provided with the product to create and print on a CD/DVD.  I can't find anything!  I downloaded HP Photosmart studio, but that doesn't seem to work.

    Hey all,.

When we developed the drivers and software for Snow Leopard, there were some problems getting CD/DVD printing to work.  We decided to go with the release of the software without the CD/DVD printing functionality.  In the meantime, we modified the HP Photo Studio software and got everything working in 10.6 again.

    So, what should you do?

#1-make sure you have the latest drivers from 10.6 to your printer downloaded and installed from hp.com.

#2-go here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/united-states/pse/hp_photosmart_studio_software.dmg and download and install HP Photo Studio.

You will now be able to print on CD/DVD by HP Photo Studio.
