  • I am running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, use the 32-bit or 64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium?

running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, used the 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade?

I followed the instructions on the card that came with the software... indicating that, if I look at my computer it was telling me that my computer works... either 64 or 32, but it does not work.  So my question is, how do you know?

You probably have the 32-bit version of XP (in most individuals, and if your system properties page does not have 64-bit, then you have 32-bit.)

However, if you now have XP 32 - bit or 64-bit XP isn't the issue that relate to your decision to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.  This decision depends on the question to know if your hardware can support a 64-bit operating system.  In this regard, the main reason for users to install a 64-bit operating system is to allow the use of more than 4 GB of RAM.  If your hardware does support more than 4 GB of RAM, there is no interest to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

You run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?  With what results?

Click Start > run and type msinfo32 in the "Open" box and click OK.
After the system information window has had time fill, click Edit > select all, and then click Edit > copy.

  • I have Windows XP Home Edition SP3, 32-bit and IE8. Do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

I have Windows XP Home Edition SP3, 32-bit and IE8.  Do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

The upgrade to Windows 7 is a personal decision.  Chances are that if you can do what you need to do on Windows XP then it is 'useless' to upgrade.  If you plan the upgrade anyway, you should first check to see that your hardware is supported under Windows 7.  To do this, Microsoft has provided a program of "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" to run on your current computer.

  • I have a Windows XP Home Edition, which does not list if it's 32-bit or 64-bit

I have an OEM Windows XP Home Edition, which does not list if it's 32-bit or 64-bit. How do I know what

To check if your XP operating system is 64-bit, you only have to right click on "My computer" and select 'Properties' to display 'system properties '.   If your XP operating system is XP Professional 64-bit, 64-bit will be indicated in the information displayed in the general tab.  However, XP 32 bit operating systems won't have 32-bit, there is no information about this particular point at all.  The XP Home Edition will be 32-bit, but this information does not appear.  XP Professional, however, can be either 32-bit or 64-bit.  If it is 64-bit, it will be indicated on the general tab of the system properties. However, if it is XP Professional 32-bit, nothing is there to indicate that the operating system is 32-bit.

Vista and Windows 7, unlike XP, OS will indicate if they are 32-bit or 64-bit.

  • Portege M700 - need drivers for Windows XP Home edition x 64

    Hello

    I recently bought a Portege M700
It comes preinstalled with Vista on the disc.

Now, I got an original Win XP x 64 and all my programs are not really compatible with Vista. If I want to install Win XP x 64.
I have install Windows XP Home edition x 64, but there are no drivers for it, only for drivers vista and Windows XP tablet pc edition.

Is it possible to find the drivers for Windows XP Home edition x 64?

Someone at - it already had a problem like this one?

in any case thank you already for the answer.

    Hello

I doubt that you can get 64-bit drivers for Windows XP for this laptop from the Toshiba driver page.
I didn t find drivers for Windows XP 64 bits for Toshiba laptops.
Why? I think the Win XP 64 bit was not so popular like Win XP 32 bit and most of the applications have been designed for XP 32 bit OS.

If install you XP 64-bit on this computer, you will have to look in the various 3rd party Web sites for the compatible drivers

  • Satellite L40-139 - need driver Windows XP Home edition for 'ethernet '.

Please can you send me the link to Satellite L40 ethernet control model of laptop for Windows XP Home edition?

    Hello

Satellite L40-139 belongs to the PSL40E series. Am I wrong?
You can check the serial number of your laptop. It should be placed somewhere at the bottom of the unit. Check all labels.

Anyway, the Toshiba driver European page doesn't provide XP drivers for this series at this time. Seems you have to wait a bit until all pilots to be released!

For the only moment that two versions of the BIOS for L40 PSL40E if released.
The BIOS must be updated to the XP version, if you want to use XP on this laptop.

By the way; It seems that this series is supported by the Base map - TX Ethernet Realtek 10/100.
Then you can try the LAN driver from the site Web of Realtek. Should also work.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P10-804 - recover to out of box (Windows XP Home Edition)

Hi friends, this computer has been pre-installed with Windows XP Home Edition. Several years ago, I installed Windows XP Professional. Well I just did a complete installation, return to the publishing house.

One of the first things I download WinZip, as I would expect a lot of updates, installation of WinZip has failed because he said some parts of missing words or not compatible Windows for this purpose. I have all the original disks, but don't know what to update first, although I am trying to install Service Pack 2, no idea what to do?

    Thank you, colin

PS: I did it because it was very slow, could take 15 minutes before I could use it and now it takes 45 seconds to load.

    Hey,.

To be honest, it's a bit confusing

If you want to restore your laptop to factory settings you must boot from the Toshiba recovery disc. It is a boot disk and you have to follow the instructions on the screen to restore the factory settings.

Toshiba Recovery disk erase the whole HARD drive and then unpacking settings will be restored with all the drivers and tools for your laptop is ready for use after the Toshiba recovery disc.
