Hello
If the edition of Vista is not written on the COA sticker, I suggest that you ask in the Forums to Support HP about this:

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.
With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

Vista backup and restore tools are distinguished by the backup program provided with Windows XP and if the backup files would be incompatible.
Perhaps you should look at is:

How can I restore my Acer laptop running windows Vista to the factory specifications?
I was given an Acer Aspire laptop. It is running Windows Vista with 512 MB memory RAM. It has been used and I want to try to restore it to the factory specifications. How can I do this? I tried system restore and it fails every time.
Hello
you have a very low amount of RAM to run Vista
System Restore should not perform a recovery plant
Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista
Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it
they do it for a nominal cost of $
https://secure.TX.Acer.com/rcdb/main.aspx?brand=Acer
____________________________________________________________
also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought
you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer
Ask them of the exact key sequence
Acer is usually press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process or through the Acer eRecovery Management under all programs

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Dell etc recovery disk
Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer
they contain all versions of vista
This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

ONLY "there are moments"? Not always?
There is a setting that will turn off the computer when the lid is closed.
Check this setting...
Start > in the search box, type power options > press enter > column on the left, click "Choose the closing cover" >
to turn off the title screen and put the computer To Sleep section, you can set the time to 1 minute forever by clicking the pointer to the right.
Click on save changes when done.

Why my computer freezes every 5-10 minutes I have a laptop running windows 7
I have no idea why, but whenever I'm on the internet or do two things at once that my computer completely blocks nothing works not even ctrl + alt + delete to the ideas as to why I use McAfee, but sometimes my firewall will stop once I activated it it will turn off once more. Don't know what I can do.
Thanks BeaHello
Use the startup clean and other methods to try to determine the cause of and eliminate
the questions.---------------------------------------------------------------
References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.
What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have NEVER
on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which can cause
strange problems). You said McAfee but I left this matter in the resolution of problems, then you might see
how important it is. McAfee can cause or worsen the problem, so I uninstall it and run the McAfee
Removal tool to be sure, don't let any debris. For more information, see the following message.----------------------------------------------------

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.
Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.
This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:
This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:
-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.htmlFor drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have. Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htmInstallation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.htmlIf you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally

get new manually if you wish. How to disable automatic driver Installation in Windows Vista - drivers
