Ultimately, and after reading the other storys peoples about these scams and calls after that I hung up on him which im happy I did it, he then phones me back saying today the problem has not been corrected, in an application for Mr. family name once again on your computer. I got protection as IE firewall and software spies but I havnt got the malware protection, anyone got any idears what I can do? or how these people got my number, p.s do you recommend pc spy software new help for example?

  When he calls again, tell him that you save the phone message. Tell him to hear again, or you must notify the police for internet fraud. Then hang up.

  I just had a phone call from a person who said that it is Windows (non-Microsoft) and said I have viruses that have made some of my windows certificates expire and he would help me to restore the certificates so that I can delete the infected files.  "" I followed some of its directives, i.e. you press Start key simultaneously with the letter e R and typed in "inf junks.  It said that all of the files that were listed are infected files.  He had me so close that window and type ammyy.com who brought up a remote coelio.  I told him I was hesitant to do it, but in order to varify that it was, I would call him back.  He gave me the 'john' and phone 905-588-7942 # name.  I hope that it has not reached way triggers a virus in my being gone that far.  Any suggestions?

Well long story short, I didn't know it was legitimate... microsoft make repairs online, right? Surely, a bum like me gets no special treatment?...   I get phone calls from a person claiming to be a Microsoft contractor.  He said that my computer has been hacked and wanted me to access my INF file so I could correct and stop piracy.   Microsoft introduces not calls to customers about technical assistance. More than likely the person calling you is a scam. For your protection, do not provide information personal to that person or him allows to access your machine remotely.

  It is a SCAM, you did the right thing hang up on him. He just wanted your information so he could use it for illegal purposes.

  This is a scam and that is becoming more and more common lately. But
  worse, if you leave them in your computer, which knows what losses are that they
  done there, or what confidential information they stole.
  So, if you did. I highly recommend that you do both of the following
  immediately:

  1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
  2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
  financial sites.
