'Phone' mode only to blackBerry Smartphones

Hello.

Is perhaps a silly question, but I've only had a Blackberry for a few days, so I'm still trying to understand everything.

My question is, if I set the mode "phone only", will I continue to receive SMS messages during this period, or is it just the phone calls?

Thanks for your help!

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

Phone only mode is a profile setting. You will continue to receive all messages and SMS, you just will not be advised of them via an alert or flashing LED. In other words, it calms down the notifications, all, except the phone.

I put the phone in "phone calls only" sound profile.  Switch to night mode allows you to always see the clock, but turns off all notifications.

It disconnects only of notifications if you choose to disable the 'Radio '.  But it kills your ability to receive calls too. If you need to be able to receive phone calls (ie you're on call 24/7, or you will have to be reached in case of emergency) you will need to define the profile of sounds to phone calls only to enter the bedside Mode.

As far as I know, in bedside Mode it really displays only clock for you all night.  Later in the night, I'm going to my phone calls only sound profile, then when I put it on the charger it'll BSM.

They said iPhone isn't a similar option? How is that possible?

I think that you have only Favorites call with no other notifications (can someone clarify?) but I also

Someone said also you can plug headphones during the night and it must allow that phone calls (can someone clarify?)- but

It's worse than the favorite options because it allows anyone in my contacts list to call.

So is there an app or an easy way to do this?

And if not, how BB and Android figure this out and not iPhone?

We might think of the billions of dollars and great talent could not understand a work around?

There is no app for this, but do not disturb, that's what you're looking for. It does not work exactly as you describe for the other operating system, but you have a little understanding of how it works for favorites. You can set do not disturb, and it will not have any type of notification. Another option is to prevent anything but calls Favorites, while the other would be to block all calls, but turn on repeated appeals, which would then allow a second call to the same person within 3 minutes to come through. If you do not use your Favorites list because it is too large, then you will need to use repeated calls. If it's important for you, you can return to your Favorites list to see if you could reduce the list to conform to what you want at the times Do not bother or because you want to just family, possibly teach them the capability of repeated calls.

The BB itself is not in the control of the rings how before you roll to voicemail. On the contrary, it is in control of your wireless service provider. Their ring upwards and inquire to adjust according to the level you want.

Hello and welcome to the community!

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

Hello and welcome to the community!

I think that you may need to perform a clean reload OS... from your post, I can't quite tell if you did that.

Please visit this official download portal as you go along. If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. After installing the operating system on your PC package, please remember to remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Don't forget that you remove, since your PC, any other BB OS devices as packages with more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

Please refer to this information, which is at the top of each page on this site:

Contractually, BlackBerry cannot provide any support from first line for nothing. All support first line begins with mobile service providers, to the place of origin of purchase or an authorized service center (it varies according to the region and the specific question). When you bought your device and the services, you should have been informed about your methods of formal support... If you weren't, you need to check your place of origin of purchase or your service provider mobile as to what those who are for you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones active new SIM - now phone SOS only

Hi all. Have a little problem. I had to go back to an old 9700 When my current iPhone broke. I needed a new card SIM from the iPhone using a different card. When I called Rogers to activate the SIM everything was fine for about a minute. I received texts that were pending since Sunday when my iPhone broke. I had full bars etc. Once a minute, he went to SOS only. While I was on the phone with Rogers Tech Support I have reset and removed the battery and SIM and all the things they wanted me to. Everything looks good on their system, he said that the problem must be with the device.

    A bit on the device:

Originally with Mobilicity in 2009. Opened and used with the wind. My father then used with Rogers and Fido. Since Sunday, when my phone broke, I used SIM card of my brother-in-law (he just swung at Rogers to the wind, but his plan has always been paid until the end of September) and the BB worked very well. If it worked correctly with a Rogers SIM.

Now, I get the same problem with my brother-brother SIM. SOS only. No connection. What happened when active Rogers SIM card must have done something to the camera itself because now it does not connect to any of them. That both SIMs work as I have tested both in my wife's phone.

The guy on the Support of Rogers suggested that perhaps the closed phone itself - but when I enter the settings advanced for the SIM card that everything is disabled in customization... so it appears not to be locked.

He said that I should try to reinstall the OS, but that it will block the phone and I need to unlocked again.

Is there anything else it could be? Will reinstall the OS relock the phone? Any other suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

First this... avoid this tech Rogers like the plague. He has no idea what he's talking about. All what he told you is simply not possible. Once MEP unlocked, a BB device can blocked at the factory. Nothing of what you have done or the facilities of any OS can relock a BB.

I'd rather a complete security on the Device Wipe:

    • KB14058 How to delete all data and applications in the smartphone BlackBerry using the security option wipe

    Otherwise, a ResetToFactory WIPE:

    • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

After each one, put it in the SIM card and switch on the device, and then make sure that the voice is through Rogers. Only then start to worry about getting all the data to work (if you subscribe BIS, in other words).

If you want to get off the OS Reload path, then the easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do this on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below. (not applicable in your situation)

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. 6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Media Sync continues to display 'Please connect a Blackberry smart phone' when the Blackberry Storm is connected to the PC

About a 2 months ago when I would like to connect my (the first storm) blackberry storm to my computer via the USB cable supplied with the phone, I was able to transfer music from my computer (itunes) to the blackberry via Blackberry Media Sync with no problems (open Blackberry Media Sync, connect blackberry to the computer via the USB port and screen Media Sync would change so that I could sync to the blackberry storm music). I didn't even have to install Blackberry Media Sync in December 2009

But now after I connect my Blackberry Storm to my computer, the screen of Blackberry Media Sync does not change and continues to display "please connect a Blackberry smartphone. I tried these tips I found online:

1.) several reboots my computer (windows vista)

2.) update/reinstall Blackberry Media Sync, then by restarting my computer

3.) reconnection from blackberry to the computer, then open Media Sync

4.) Open Media Sync first and then connect the blackberry to the computer.

5.) installation BlackBerry USB and Modem drivers (even if I can't find the USB driver for it under the Universal Serial Bus Controller when I check in the Device Manager when you go to control panel – system and Maintenance – Manager of devices, but I found a v2 COM4 and COM5 RIM virtual serial Port when you select "devices by connection" under display in Device Manager) or are RIM Serial Port virtual v2 COM4 and COM5 drivers I'm looking for?

6.) go to Options (on blackberry) - memory and make sure Media Card Support, Media Transfer Protocol (MTO) and Mass Storage Mode Support are resolved on 'On', the encryption Mode is set to 'None' and mass storage Mode Auto activate when connected, it the value "Prompt" although I tried to 'Yes' as well. It says I have 785 MB of memory space of the unit out of 879 MB total memory of the device and 7.1 GB of free space on a total of 7.3 GB of Media Card Media Card.

None of the above tips and troubleshooting tips worked. I also checked the Blackberry technical solution center but I've not found anything there that has contributed to the other. I found discussions forums online, including issues of people with 'blackberry media sync cannot connect to the device' pop up, but I have not had this pop-up. The Media Sync screen remains just the same as if I never connected the blackberry storm to my computer in the first place even if my blackberry storm recharges via the computer.

Is there something that I miss or have not yet done? What should I do?

Too bad. I went to a Verizon store and they me remove the battery and turn the blackberry. Worked like a charm and I can now use Media Sync.

Also told me that I need to update the software of the phone blackberry using Blackberry Desktop software (I have version 4 and need to update to 5) and make sure to choose to back up files when you are prompted during the update or you will lose all files, the media and info saved on blackberry.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones cannot lock the phone through blackberry ID

    Hello

I take a phone of my coleague who has left the company. For some reason, I can't able to connect on the phone. Firstly I didn't at first, the password of my coleague ex, I went online and changed the password. However, when I want to connect with my new password to unlock the phone, I have this message:

"You have exceeded the number of attempts to connect.

For security reasons, you have been locked for 15 minutes. "Click on forgotten password if you need create a new password.

But after 15 minutes and try again, the message... helpppp

You try the BlackBerryID, or the security password, on the device?

It looks like the BlackBerryID if you are locked out for 15 minutes.

A wrong entered security password would give you only a message something like «wrong password 2/10»

Then, to change the BBID of this device and make it 'your own' device, you'll need to do a wipe of the device security. This will delete all the data in personal, contacts, calendar, etc. and restore the State of the plant basically.

How can I get the load to the top of the screen to access my phone?

My phone had OS6 installed at the time it was released. Today, I decided to update to the latest version of the OS6. I downloaded the update through my device, and then click the button install. There is a prompt message warning that the installation can take 2 hours or more. After 2 hours, I started the monitoring device and noticed that there seems to be a pattern to the load up screen. 1 loading screen screen 2) black with LED light red 3) the load screen and then ends with a bright white screen 4) back to the black screen with LED Red 5) repeat this pattern.  I waited another hour to see if there was no change in the situation, but nothing. There are two methods for recovering for you to try:

    One:

    • Open Blackberry Desktop Software & connect your device with the PC using the USB cable, without inserting the battery.
    • You have three Retry option, update or cancel, and then click Update.
    • Once it is at the stage of the "initialization of pocket" update, then insert the batteries.
    • If this does not work, and you get stuck on the safeguarding of social data feeds, go to the second method below.
