Photo Album vs iPhoto event

I always prefer iPhoto Photos but because at some point, I'm sure he will be eliminated, I strive gradually switch to the pictures. One thing really miss me is the iPhoto EVENTS. I can almost do the same thing by creating albums, but one thing miss me is the the "description" field, I had of events. I could essentially tell a short story that applied to all the photos to the event and then put exclusive details in the description field of the individual photos in this case. Before I have to abandon the idea, I want to be sure miss me not only how do. Is there a way to put in a common description that applies to all photos in the album?

Select all the images you want as a group; Get information by pressing command + I. You can then add the common text for the Description field, but notes that there are other, perhaps more appropriate to use fields. To add specific image descriptions, run Get Info on individual photos.

  • Photos app contains iPhoto events, do not understand.

Since the upgrade of the Mavericks to Yosemite (and now ElCapitan) my photo library contains my old iPhoto events. Here are my questions:

    (1) my iMac shows that I have 27 000 photos, but all my other devices I have 11 000 pictures.

    (2) ' iPhoto events' contains 393 events, but many of them are grayed out? These photos to go and how can - I recover?

    (3) I still have the iPhoto application. Can I trash the app or will remove that somehow all my iPhotos currently on the Photos app? Is it possible to merge the iPhoto events in the rest of the Photos app so that I don't have to deal with the old iPhoto?

1 & 2.  A great basic list may take several days, or even weeks, to migrate and syncs to iCloud, then to your devices. The 'missing' and grated the elements, might simply need more time.

    3. Yes, finally you can remove the iPhoto app and the iPhoto library, but leave the long until you're absolutely, positively sure that the migration to the Photos is successful. There are no big rush, that you won't get a lot of accumulation by removing.

  • Photo albums order 2nd time

I did a photo album in iPhoto in 2007 and ordered him. It was delivered and looked very good.

I would order again, but I don't have it in iPhoto (or Photo, now) more. Apple keeps a copy in case you want to order again later?

    Thanks for the reply.

Apple will only keep the PDF of the book for a few weeks, to a maximum of six weeks.

After that you can not order the book again.

The store print products will be no longer accept to print iPhoto books after March 31, see post of the old Toad: Re: Apple Print products store Drops Support for iPhoto

So he must hurry to get any iPhoto for printed books.

Recreate the photo book will be the best that you can do.

  • I don't see my iphoto events account more in the display of the Photo Album

My apologies if this question has already been submitted, but I couldn't find an appropriate solution to this day.

Photo app has properly downloaded all my photos from iPhoto and I can see them in Moments - Photos full discovers.  However, I used to see my old photos in a folder named "iphoto events" using the view of the Albums. This iphoto events simply disappeared - is missing after a software update.  I do not see my old photos (from iPhoto) classified into events more - they are all dispersed by the dates in the full view of Moments.

I get this "event iphoto folder" for Albums?  Why pictures show all files from iphotos in times of the year but cannot group by events more?

Really appreciate apple or group of support on this issue.

You have albums showing? You have the sidebar displayed or hidden? What has changed since the record was there? What software upgrade you did it?

  • Photos and my iPhoto imported events/albums

Finally, I have to venture into the pictures and let it import my single iPhoto library.

    I have some Photos Version 1.2 (340.4.0)

It has imported very well, but I have problems with the Albums which existed in iPhoto and are now submerged under "iPhoto events."

I wish they were at the highest level in my last album, but can't see how. Of course, I didn't dare attempt to remove the "iPhoto events" where all things goes.

    Advice, please.

The albums iPhoto events are standard albums, which can be moved to different folders like all other albums.

If you have not yet revealed the sidebar with a list of the albums, reveal her pressing ⌥⌘S (command-option-S).

You can easily drop off your albums at a different place in the list of albums.

  • iPhoto events?  I want to CONVERT but NOT Album... possible?

I update for Mac OS and I have a folder called events iPhoto in Photos with 1400 events, mainly just some simple pictures.  I've read some threads here that explain how to convert in Albums, but I don't like albums that I already have my albums put in place.  I want just the missing file (my OCD)... without losing the photos.  Or are these copies and I just delete?  And suggestions or help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Steve

Those who already are the albums - when you migrate an iPHoto library your iPhoto events are converted to photo albums and stored in a folder 'iPHoto events' names - that are not options, that's what happened when you migrated - How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Now you can manage the albums as you like - combining them, deleting them, placing them in different or ignorant folders

and like all the pictures, they are simply a way to view photos - they are not a place or duplicates but simply a view of photos in your library

To remove an album right click (control click) on it and select Delete album

  • Events and Photo Albums

I recently upgraded from the Mavericks to El Capitan and therefore iPhoto has been migrated to Photos.  Is there a reason why I should do the Albums new for new pictures added since migration or can I add new events and save them under iPhoto events?

Photos does not support events as it existed in iPhoto. Moments replace new auto-generated events. To manually control which is content, you create Albums.

One of the more experienced members of the forum created a tip user explaining the differences. Sorry, but I cannot visit the tip link now, please search for it.

  • Cannot delete a photo album of the Ipad 2 that has been created in iphoto

I can't delete a photo album of the photos on my ipad 2.  The album was created in iphotos on my macbook air and synced from itunes.  All my photos on the macbook were imported to 'photos' and the album I want to remove my ipad does not exist on my macbook, not more.

What I'm supposed to do is sync my ipad with itunes and delete the album in iphotos.

However, there is no photos tab in my itunes me to synchronize the photos until I do?

Create an album with a name similar but empty - and then synchronize with the iPad – which should erase your photos

  • How can I add my iPhoto events to the Photos app again?

Is it possible to do if I already have a library of Photos put in place application? is it possible to reset so he invites me to ask if I want to import my iPhotos events?

Photos cannot merge libraries, but you can open as many libraries in the Photos as you want.

To open your iPhoto Library Library in pictures drag the iPhoto icon library in the Dock of Photos.  This will create a new library of pictures of him and open it in Photos.

  • The list of albums in iPhoto format

    Hello

It was the case that my records are displayed in a list in iPhoto, with recently uploaded pictures downstairs waiting to be added to one of the albums above. If I clicked on one of the horizontal bars that open the album. Now, the format is a split screen - half superior showing things like "all photos" 'faces', 'last import', 'selfies' (why must define it, I don't know), etc. The lower half shows my albums, but in a different format, many are grouped for one thing. Instead of a bar marked, they are punished by an image of this album and a title.

I don't like the new format, and also I can't work on the distribution of pictures newly imported to use it. I used to highlight photos and drag them to the appropriate folder, but I can't do this now.

I would be grateful for any advice you could give me on the above.

    Tom

It looks like you were is no longer using iPhoto but News Photos for Mac app instead.

On Photos for Mac, you can get a decent album list by revealing the sidebar.  Enter the combination of keys option-command-S (⌥⌘S) to display a sidebar Album. In the sidebar, it is easier to sort your albums and to move them between folders.  CTRL-click on any folder and you will see sorting options.  My sidebar looks like this, for example:

I don't like the new format, and also I can't work on the distribution of pictures newly imported to use it. I used to highlight photos and drag them to the appropriate folder, but I can't do this now.

To create a new album for a new selection of photos new photos in the album last import, then enter the ⌘N key combination to create a new album for them.   Then drag this album in one of your folders in the sidebar.   In addition, you can drag the photos selected in an album in the sidebar.

You can also create new albums and folders to groupp your albums in the menu "file".

And you will find all your events iPhoto transformed into albums in a folder "iPhoto events" in the sidebar.

  • Comments on missing photos after photo import from iphoto library

I use iphoto extensively for my company and I recently updated my OS to El Capitan and discovered that it didn't work anymore.  There was a note which directed me to download the latest version of the app store and when I did it it says there is no download available.

So I tried to go to the pictures.  I started the pictures and it prompted me to import my iphoto library, which is about 70 gigabytes.  Import ran for a long time and all images now appear in the Photos, but there is a problem.

Before the upgrade, when I downloaded photos in iPhoto, they went to a group and have been dated from and prepared accordingly. But I would add notes and/or descriptions so that when I entered a search for specific photos, they came to the top and I didn't need dates. Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone. Do you know if they're hiding, or if we can find them? Otherwise I have no idea where the first photos are and I have to visually through the 22 000 photos.

If not, is there a way to return to iphoto for El Capitan?

There was a note which directed me to download the latest version of the app store and when I did it it says there is no download available.

Apple sells iPhoto, is more then the tab update of the AppStore works is no longer.  You can update only by reinstalling, see user tip Barney:   cannot be updated iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store)

Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone.

Are the descriptions of the events?  If you open the sidebar with the albums, (enter the ⌥⌘S - command-option-S key combination), you will see a folder iPhoto events.  It will be an album for each of your events.

See also: How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

If you enter titles and captions for each photo, you will see them in the Panel information for each photo. Titles can also be displayed under thumbnails, if you enable it in the view menu > metadata.

  • Photo Album using for screen saver

I would like to use a photo album for my screensaver. I did it in the past with iPhotos and Photos.

Using OS 10.11.16 on MacBook Air

    Photos 1.5

I moved my old library of Photos on a hard drive that I needed storage space.

Succeeded in creating a new photo library.

Went in system preferences to set up the screen saver as I did in the past.

Can 'see' the new photo library, but it is shaded on so I can't choose it as my screensaver.

I opened and closed applications and restart the computer.

I could choose a picture of pictures for my desktop image

Have you turned on the photo library as your system library system in Photos preferences > general tab, after you have created the new photo library?

"Use as a Photo library system" option should be grayed out in the Photos > Preferences > general, when you view the library you want to use for your saving screen and with other applications.  If 'Use as a Photo library system' is not grayed out, click it.  Then log market once again before trying to activate your album as a source of the screen saver.

  • photo albums

I had a book (photo album) ready to order, but I was asked repeatedly to change the lay-out of some pages.

It seems that it is not possible for example to open picture frames. I do it because I put a picture in the background which will then be better visible through the open frames on some pages.

Please help me answer this question. Why Apple has changed that. I left executives open before, and then I was, before you send it, always asked if I wanted to send it as I did.

I hate Apple. First of all, they changed options of photo books and now this.

    Help, please.

Are you trying to order a book in iPhoto or Photos for Mac?  I ask, because you send messages in the forum of iPhoto.

Apple does support is no longer printing of books from iPhoto, from Photos to Mac. So, you will not be able to submit an order for the book in iPhoto.

Photos for Mac you can not order a blank book with Picture placeholders. But you can simply drop a screenshot of the empty page in the placeholder pictures so there will be something included and the box is not empty.

  • How to remove a smart photo album (not photos themselves)?

I just created a photo album of smart defined by dates.  It does not show the symbol of the wheel to the left like the others, I created.  I've recreated the same smart album defined by dates, and the symbol of the wheel is visible.  So, how can I remove one without the wheel symbol... not the photos themselves?

Photos Ctrl-click on the name of the album, if missing the gear icon. He must always bring up the context menu with the command "delete a Smart Album:

Or ar you use iPhoto?  In iPhoto, you can also ctrl + click on the smart album and use the command "Delete Album".
