Although my administrator account has not been recognized during an attempt to make the download 8.1, it acknowledged the role of the administrator when the technician needed administrative approval to all uninstall and reinstall activities in trying to solve the problem.

  You are not alone. Many have had the same problem with no resolution. I think there's something funny to do with user accounts. Making a second account with admin privleges does not work. I would try to reinstall the operating system of hidden image and try again. A refresh like tried Dell will not do because it retains much of the data before the update; you need a clean start. Do nothing witht the account Admin other than to let Windows put up and set your password. All updates must be installed before the upgrade is displayed in the store. I have improved five facilities to win 8 and have had zero problems.

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
