  I have a Photosmart 5510e and just upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8).

  I can print wireless, and I can scan using webscan.

  I've been through the process of HP twice, remove the drivers etc. With HP drivers not installed, I can see the scanner the HP utility, to enable the computer analysis.  If I select scan from the computer to the printer, it launches HP Scan on my Mac, but it fails with an error of communication.

  It doesn't work completely once I do software update for the Apple drivers.

  On the printer and scanner app in settings, the product reports as a printer only.

  I had this problem with 10.7 up to what a new set of drivers have been released.

  I can scan Windows machines on my network.

  A bit annoying that the printer is a product Apple has approved.

  I suggest first to remove the HP software again and then first add the printer (and scanner) via the "built-in" drivers

  Go to the folder Applications/Hewlett-Packard. Here, open the HP application uninstall. While you click Uninstall, please press and hold simultaneously the keys 'CTRL', 'ALT' and 'CMD '. This will remove all the HP software (so if another HP device installed, their sw will be deleted as well).

  Then restart the Mac and empty the trash. I recommend that you also run repair disk permissions (utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder).

  That is why it is over, open system preferences and choose printing & scanning. Click on the Plus sign to add a new printer. Select your device and beside the job please go to AirPrint for the HP device driver. Now, you will get a message that there is software available and if you want to install it (if your Mac is connected to the Internet). Accept and install the software. You should now see the print scanning & digitization tab. Please check if scanning works currently (in this interface to scan, you can also choose to scan to PDF in a single file).

  If that still does not work, there could be a problem of your network communication - maybe your router does not perform total supported Hello. To verify that you can check in Safari via Hello bookmark so you can access the SAP from here (only not by inserting the IP address).   I have a HP Photosmart 5510e printer that has suddenly stopped printing correctly because the black ink is not getting through.  I did everything possible troubleshooting I can and replaced all the cartridges for new ones, but nothing helped.  When I did a report print quality he had no black ink on it at all.   I was helping my sister set up his new printer HP Photosmart 5510e on a laptop that has Windows 7 64 bit.  She was not wearing the disc so had to download the drivers from the HP website.  Since she has downloaded the drivers, the computer not giving him stop, go to the Task Manager, or do much.   Follow the steps below to completely remove the HP software. Let me know if you still have problems with the laptop after uninstalling the software?

  1. type % temp % in run

  2. look for a folder called 7z? Example: 7zS6D6F, and then open it.

  3. open the contents of the file Util

  4. open the folder titled CCC

  5. If you have an HP computer, run L3uninstall.bat. If your computer is not HP, then run the L4uninstall.bat

  6. once the uninstaller cleaning brush is finished, restart the computer.

• I have a Mac and recently purchased a HP Photosmart 5510e HP.

  My new photosmart 5510e keeps giving me error messages "Align cartridge" on all my computers. I did that so many times I'm wasting ink and paper. I can't turn this option off, and there is no way to know when this will happen. I run a recording program and this message interrupts me so many times that I am about to trash this printer.   Hey Stephen. Sorry to hear about this issue. Make sure that you acknowledge the messages inside the Hp Message Center. Clicking OK on the pop-up just will not stop messages. If you have a handle you can Ctrl-Click and select all the messages and then close them all at once.

  If the grateful inside the Message Center does not set it you can turn off all messages permenantly open the HP utility, located in the Applications folder (in the Finder). Once inside the HP utility should be a button at the top right to settings. Click on that and uncheck the boxes for the Alerts view.

  Fine thank you. What the third step: select a superior printing quality and seven step: run the automatic utility to clean the print head, have you tried these suggestions? Although you can print on standard photo paper, the steps may help.

  Also, have you tried different photo paper coincidentally? I know, it seems not likely the root cause is the paper, but has given all this we tried, it might be a good next step to venture.

  I replaced all 3 color cartridges, but also the black with the new HP cartridges but when I tried to print the Cyan (blue) does not print.
