  The Photosmart 7520 should be set to analyze the legal size through to choose parameters in the HP scanning software, I posted below as an example.

  Follow the steps below and check if it solves the problem:

If you are unable to install the printer after you perform the steps of scrub provided in the Message 2 of 8 then you will need to back up your data files on this computer, and then run a full system recovery. This will place the PC to the way it was when you bought it. After recovery finished, install the printer before installing any additional software.
