Pictures too dark and faded printing

My photos processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CC is absolutely superb on the home screen. When I had paper copies of the photo shop, they were extremely dark and faded.

It was such a big difference that I ache to believe than the settings in Photoshop is so terribly wrong.

Someone has any advice what configuration in Photoshop / optimum color settings?

Best regards

Terje Helberg

It seems that if you give them ProPhoto files and their printing process is not color management.

Try to convert it to sRGB and see if it's better. You must always send on sRGB if you do not know how the files are processed.

You are at half way to know the answer.  The trick is in the balance: 125%.  The smile.

The size of the output is generally managed in mode print - preview in browsers AND Word.

  • Pictures too dark compared to Media Composer

    Hello

I recently ran a few comparisons between Premiere Pro and Media Composer, just to see if there is a difference in the quality of the exported both videos when I stumbled upon this question.

First of all, let me clarify my machine parameters:

    I use a PC under Windows 7 64-bit.

    Processor: Intel Core i7 - 4790K @ 4.00 GHz

    RAM: 16 GB

    I have two graphics cards:

    (1) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

    (2) Intel HD 4600 Graphics

I was using Premiere Pro 2015.3 (currently, the latest version) and Media Composer 8.5 trial version (if it would make a difference)

Second, the images I used comes from a short film that I shot last year. It's from a Blackmagic film camera, and media are encoded in Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files.

Here's what's happening. When I import the media files in both programs, I notice immediately that the film looks more like dark at first he made in Media Composer. However, when I checked the waveform monitor in both (using waveform YC) two signals looked about the same. Here are a few of the problem screen grabs. (P.S. attached to photos are taken using Snipping Tool Windows)

    (01) that what looks like the images as in Media Composer

    01 Media Composer IMPORT.PNG

    (02) this is what it looks like in Premiere Pro

    02 Premiere Pro IMPORT.PNG

And here are two waveform signals:

    (01) Media deal

    04 Media Composer WAVEFORM.PNG

    (02) first Pro

    03 Premiere Pro WAVEFORM.PNG

The problem persisted when I exported the images. I have exported the two as QuickTime files, encoded in Avid DNxHD 1080 p/25 185 10 bits, with 709 color levels. I played in QuickTime Player and the exported video from Premiere Pro seemed darker than exported to Media Composer despite them playing on the same monitor. Here is the screen grab to show the problem (again once they are taken using Windows capture tool)

    (01) export of media composer

05 Media Composer EXPORT in QT.PNG

    (02) first Pro of Export

06 Premiere Pro EXPORT in QT.PNG

In fact, when I re-imported video that I exported created in the project to create, it seemed even darker. Here is a screenshot.

    07 Premiere Pro Re-IMPORT.PNG

Can someone explain why this is happening. Is this something in the export settings. If this is the case, why this does not happen with Media Composer. For me, there seems to be something that happens during the import of the first sequence. It seems the only explanation why the exported images of first seems even darker when I re - import.

If it's something that happens at the point of importation, what she is, and how can I solve this problem? If not, then what is the problem?

I hope I explained everything as detailed as possible. If you need information please let me know.

Use AE utility - color profile converter

set the HDTV (Rec 709) input range and HDTV output (Rec 709 16-235)

That will set the new video range(16-235) values and lighten the image of good level again.

  • Updated 3.6.11 today and added a character on top of the screen. How can I delete? It of too dark and toolbars is hard to see

When the option after the update has been completed, to try new character, I choose an autumn scene. However, it is so dark I can hardly see my Tools/menus toolbars. I want to CANCEL but am unable to find the option in Mozilla

You can cancel it by opting for the default theme. For more information on how to do that see use themes to change the appearance of Firefox.

  • Pictures Printing too dark

HP Officejet 6500 a Plus All in One.  Windows 7, 64 bit.  Print all pictures too dark.  I have checked the cartridges, cleaned print head, set preferences - set everything I can think of.  Provides excellent print quality but all of a sudden this change.  Can not think of any change I made to the computer itself.  Any thoughts?  And thank you very much.  Small drives me crazy!

Thanks for help. I did NOTthink of printing as a PROJECT; may have worked. But only one solution temporary vs a fix, right? I finally gave up and changed the black ink cartridge, even though it was almost new. With the new cartridge, returned to perfect photo printing. Now I think I bought a faulty cartridge. Once again, thaks for taking the time!

  • Too dark prints

In CS5 I get printed pictures coming out too dark and with altered color. Regardless of evidence or settings paper settings that I use, they are always the same. I does not always seem to have this problem, but the impression that I am trying to print today is like it no matter what I do. What I am doing wrong?

Well, it get close enough to the change of ink so he could be a suspect? I guess a lot of ink is possible. A rather tedious next step may be reinstall drivers printing factory.  You can also try a preference reset Photoshop: Mac - press and hold down Cmd + Opt + shift and run Photoshop. A box will appear, asking you if you want to continue with the reset, select 'yes '. Try to hold the space bar when you click on the Photoshop print button too.

  • LR 2: workflow colorproofed but prints too dark. Help, please.

    Hello

I'm new here. I have read all the other threads on this problem and tried all the proposals. But I can't solve the problem.

    In detail:

    IMac

    Progs: CS 2, CS 4, LT 2

    Printer: HP Photosmart B 9180

    Display: iMac + Eizo CG21

ColorProof by eye - one display and colorvision spectrophotometer for printers.

I even put the brightness and Gamma of the monitor for each type of paper measuring the brightness/white paper.

In CS 2 all works very well. 100% matching printmakers.

In LR 2: too dark images. Printer has the default value. Color-correct profile is selected. Printer is set up for color management software...

If I send the same image of LR2 to PS2 to modify, print in PS2 without changes, everthing is ok.

CS 4: Too dark prints as in LR2

Help, please! I love LT2 to manage the huge amount of images and you want to use for printing photobooks (easier to print if you want to print pictures 20 or more...)

    Anyone have more tips?

    Thanks in advance

I have the same setup as you, perhaps with the exception of the osX version (10.5.7).

The impressions of my B9180 are thin and assorted in color managed LR and printer managed.

Wheter that the printer is set up by default or not never made no difference.

My printer driver version is 2.3.3

However, I have the same problem with another printer and LR.

The fact that people with the same configuration and drivers get different results only confirm my idea that there is a bug / flag in LR who gets together and then all your prints for a certain printer is screwed up.

I am rather disappointed that Adobe has not corrected this and seems even to the same bug in CS4.

I won't pay for LR or CS4 until I have confirmation that this bug is gone (if I were to upgrade to CS4 and get the same problem, I would not be able to print over all)

  • LaserJet 1300: LaserJet prints too dark gray

I suspect that this can happen several HP Laser Jet printers.

Even when I print a C = 0, M = 0, Y = 0, K = 10 Gray (a setting that makes gray barely distinguishable on screen) to the black wire, black is very difficult to read in print. Gray is simply too dark.

I've looked everywhere and complaints most people about gray printing have to with the gray print thread too light. This isn't my problem.

I have updated drivers with no luck.

I am hoping there is a kind of software that will allow me to recalibrate the gray my HP Print.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no utility calibration for this printer. I am certified on them when they were new. Grey s printing too dark and you use the OEM toner cartridges then I would replace the engine Board. If you use replacement cartridges they print darker than the new HP cartridges and I just turn to OEM.

  • HP Photosmart premium C410A fainted faded print

Printer was purchased in July as an HP upgrade offer to a wireless printer. I use sometimes use the C410A as a printer, but my main printer is a HP Photosmart D7560 h.

I use printer with 2 computers apple using OS10.7.2 (Lion) and an Ipad using ios5.1

Recently, I replaced the cartridges that were original with the C410A with new cartridges. I start to meet very thirsty sun prints. I called the Help Center and they told me to do a cleaning of printheads and the next print was pointed dark and good quality. A few days later, I tried to print, and again, it was so dark that I couldn't read faded amd. I repeated the printhead, clean-up operation and the print quality improved for the most part, but not where it had been before. The following characters was dark and faded at the point of being unusable.

    I buy a 3-year service contract.

Question: Other owners have similar problems with the C410A printer?

Other than to go out and buy all new cartridges and start over?

Troubleshooting steps here can help solve the problem, expecially the event check the Solution 6, step 3.  If this does not resolve the issue, see the post here.

  • Portege R500-10J: not possible to watch movies - colors screen too dark

    Hello!

I recently bought a Portege R500-10J and have a pretty bad problem - I can not watch every movie (DVD or *.avi or anyone else) here. All media are invisible on the screen. Its too dark and some colors are recorded.

I have no problem with all office applications, or browsing the internet, the colors are perfect for screen 12.1 inch, but using any application media is almost impossible.

Didn't help not change any settings. The colors are extremely poor. I have not install anything but this was while the computer is first.

Anyone know - is it a hardware problem (video card) or software (drivers, codecs, sth else), or it is a normal phenomenon?

Hope it can be fixed. This laptop is supposed to be used for watching movies on a trip...

To be honest, it is not easy to understand your problem. I guess you use battery power while traveling. In this case, intelligence tool will probably switch to energy saving mode. In this case, the display brightness will increase at a lower level.

You can set it to the highest level by using the FN + F7 key combination. Be sure that the screen is in the right direction (90 degrees from your eyes).

  • My pictures are too dark when printing on an epson printer. they were ok on my last printer

I just bought a new epson printer xp960. All my images printed from photoshop CS6 are too dark. If the print outside photoshop, they're ok. They printed accurately on my old Kodak printer. Epson sent me to Adobe

Could you please uninstall the printer drivers once and then install the latest drivers for the printer.

  • I have a new Epson R2000 and my impressions are too dark.  How can I get WYSIWYG?

I disabled the color management on the R2000 and 10 elements to optimize for prints.  I try to get WYSIWYG.  It is complicated by a new LG Flatron IPS235 monitor.  It is supposed to have the best calibrated factory of color and FRY Electronics said that it would be the color of the true range and complete.  I tried to change the mode sRGB, photo mode and user mode and prints are still too dark.  I'd appreciate any help I can get.  I'm a scrapbooking working on pictures of my world travel bucket list.  At the rate I'm going, I will kick the bucket before I get printed photos.   Thank you!

If there is a "16-bit" option in the Epson controls, try turning it off.

Apparently to allow this control breaks the mangement of the color codes in the Epson driver.

Let Photoshop control color is more accurate, but sometimes encounters bugs in code printer (such as the switch from 16-bit) driver.

Let the printer color control is easier, but much less precise and leaves your images subject to some secret sauce of the printer driver wants to apply to them (which can vary between images!).

  • My pictures are too dark inside the workshop

I use a canon EOS Rebel t3i 600 with 18-55 mm. When I take pictures with prolights inside my studio using1/20 and f5.6 and ISO 200 in manual mode, it's too dark. I use two prolights. I can improve aesthetics with increase the ISO, but it decreases the sharpness and saturation of the picture. Is there something that controls exposure other than apature, shutter speed and ISO, this camera?

NO, you need more light, more thoughtful walls, ceiling etc.

  • LaserJet Pro M452dn color: Color LaserJet Pro M452 prints too dark

All prints much too dark. Even in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. I downloaded the user guide, but not able to find a way to adjust the intensity of output. Setting the output seems to be available for Windows only. Is - everyone there knows the secret formula for Mac users? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I usually check the option of directly on setting intensity her pinter.

Go to system set up, select the print intensity or density and 3 is the default setting, it goes on a scale of 1 to 5, five being really dark, replace it with a 1 or 2 and try out it.

    Print too dark

Can someone help me with this problem

Welcome to the Forums of HP Bazza46,

By your post, I see that the photos are too dark print.
I can help you with this problem.

I have provided a document to solve Print quality problems see if that will help solve the problem.

Make sure you select the type of paper in the printer driver and is not a default unspecified paper.

Most of the settings should be set the application you are printing from.

    You use Genuine HP Toner?

What kind of paper do you use?

What are the results when you print the page of diagnostic quality and print?

If you need help, let me know.

    Good day!
    Thank you.
