Problem installing Windows Vista after Linix based system crashed.

So when I bought this laptop it was running Vista, I then upgraded to 7.  After running windows 7 for a few months, I decided to try Ubuntu Linux.  I made a mistake when trying to dual boot and ended up taking my computer windows.  Ubuntu crashed while I was doing something to my Iphone with it and she would not allow me in the operating system.  I got my restore disk and installed windows again, but when I did I found that all my drivers are not installed for my wifi card and the graphics card.  I have the drivers also disk, but here shows all installed.  What should I do to recover my laptop to factory settings?

Hey SteveZea

you don't say if you used your laptop to join here or not

go to your site to manufacturers of portable computer with the computer that you use for here and find a download section

find the drivers for your laptop model number, download and save if you use another computer to get here

copy to flash drive, if you use another computer to do this and reinstall on your laptop

If the problem persists then contact the manufacturer of your laptop as their recovery process is not microsofts you have problems with

  • Satellite A200-23W: problem installing Windows Vista

    Hello..

I now that this topic is discussed several times before, but after trying many solutions of the forum and some of my only, I reached a level that it makes no sense...

First off I would like to explain what I do for a living, it has to do with IT and that is what makes it even more tempting for me.

2 days ago a friend bought a Toshiba A200-23W. The first thing I always do when I buy a new laptop is to format it and install a clean Windows operating system.
After my first attempt, I realized that I have to install first the matrix storage driver.

I downloaded the driver from toshiba place related to my model. (Intel Matrix Storage Manager - 7.5.0.1017).
I created a usb key with the required driver files:

    iaAhci.inf,
    iaAhci.cat,
    iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
    iaStor.sys, and
    TxtSetup.oem

in the folder (F6flpy) of the (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) you can copy them to the root of the USB stick.
When the form "Where you want to install windows" windows Vista appear I select load the driver, and then by clicking (Browse), I select the USB drive as source for my drivers.
The (Intel(r) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller) will automatically appear as a choice and by clicking on the (Next) the process of the pilot installation begins.
    So far so good..

    Here's where things get complicated...
When Vista back to the form "Where you want to install windows", even my system has 2 x 200 GG HDD only 200 GB HARD drive appears in the list...

Selections of 'New' Partition, or a Partition of 'Delete' are disabled.
and even when I click 'Next' for selected HD a windows message:

"Windows has no determine if this computer contains a valid system volume."

    I'd appreciate your help...

    Thank you in advance...
    George P.

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD disk or delete the partition because this would remove the SATA driver too, and the HARD drive would not be recognized by Vista!

Therefore, you need to install the OS on the HARD drive that is displayed in the installation program.

  • Problem installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1

    Greetings,
I've been running Windows Vista for a while now. In general, I have no problem. I tried to install Service Pack 1 with a bit of luck.

My first attempt was to install using Windows Update. When it installs it gives me error 0 x 80070490

My second attempt was to install it as a Sandalone by Windows.com. He also gave me an error
    0 x 80070490

I followed the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366.
I tried all resolutions and nothing will work.

Both times when I try to install it, the bar fills up all the way and then fails (no reboot or anything else) with in a few minutes. It restarts what only it either just fails or not. I tried using safe mode and normal Mode.

I tried to repair Windows to solve the problem. While the repair done, the computer has restarted and gave me the 'blue screen of death', the only way he could properly load was to load mode without failure. I had to wrap the last know configuration to start normally.

I'm running out of good ideas please help

    Desperate, try: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Description of the preparation tool update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 system

Usually, the tool is available to computers that could benefit from these tools, but you can manually download the same and see if it helps.

Unfortunately with your error code, it is usually a necessary repair install, but the damage may be too much even for a repair installation.

BTW - back up your important files just in case where you don't have to start over.

  • Try to install Windows Vista. When the system starts, I get a black screen with no message and no prompt.

before starting up the plant, black screen

A friend gave me the laptop since they bought a new.  I tried to do a clean install of Windows Vista on a laptop Gateway P6831 FX.  After changing the boot order in the bios settings, the dvd starts to spin.  The only thing that appears on the screen is a screen black/Bank.  I'm never invited with the message 'Press any key to start the installation' to start copying the files for vista.

The Bios recognizes the hard drive (Sata).  I don't know what to do at this point.  Help, please.

I fixed it.  I looked at a few other responses in this forum and used the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows XP.  After that, I've upgraded to Vista.

Basically, my laptop picked up what appears to be a boat load of virus / malware of some link and has started flashing upward with safety messages, then adobe flash crashed... then the entire closed system.

But as the laptop computer does not respond, I don't know what to do... is it completely kaput, or is it possible to save her?

    Thank you!

You can consider starting another thread/topic just for your problem if things don't mix with Tarkin75 (Tarkin75 has a different problem).

If your system starts without complaining and you are just having trouble getting on the Internet, here are some things to check after relieving your system of malware:

We will check your network connection properties.

Some malware will alter these settings and your anti malware software can't tell if you have changed the malware changed them or so, after removal of infections, it will leave just the settings as he finds them (it is usually a good thing), but can leave your disabled Internet access.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Inetcpl.cpl

Click OK to launch the Internet Properties Control Panel, choose connections, LAN settings.

Or, in Internet Explorer click on tools, Options, connections, LAN settings.

These settings control your Internet access for all browsers.

(If you make settings, write them down so you can undo changes if you must)

On most environments, not independent, there will be check automatically detect settings and the other boxes are (as Proxy Server) is disabled.

Automatically detect the setting checked =
Use the automatic configuration script = unchecked
Use a proxy server for your LAN = not checked

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Check your settings for how your network adapter gets its IP and DNS settings.  On most home systems, these parameters must be defined for the system will get the settings automatically.

If you have another system on your network that works, you can compare these settings with the settings of the system which is not a work and make adjustments.

Click Start, settings, Control Panel, network connections, and then select your current network connection.

On the general tab, click Properties.

In the drop down in the Middle, find and highlight the selection of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

In the Internet Protocol Properties window, the usual selections are to get the IP and DNS settings automatically.  Select the following two options:

    Obtain an IP address automatically
Get a DNS server address automatically

The rest of the options on the screen should then be grayed out/not available.

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Restart your computer and test your connection.

If it still does not work, check your settings are still in place after a restart and then release and renewal IP of your network device configuration settings.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window, and then type the following commands:

    ipconfig/release
    ipconfig / renew
    output

Restart your computer and test your connection.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • Problems installing Windows Vista on a p9x79 pro raid setup.

I'm trying to load Vista in raid0 on 2 WD 1 TB SATA 6 gb hd black

I used the flash drive I created with the asus dvd provided with Mo and he installed the 'Inter c600 series chipset sata raid controller' allowed the installation to continue.

  • problem to activate Vista after a Toshiba system restore

I did a full restore using a new restore disc, I bought at Toshiba. I restored the computer but had to do a restore again. Now I can not turn on. I don't have activation key. Can help?

The appropriate recovery disks shouldn't need a key.

Your key should rely on the machine th ecase COA sticker.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.
-* in your own thread *, please

Please also state the Version and edition of Windows cited on your COA sticker (if you a) in the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but does NOT quote the key on the sticker!

    Hi man chic,

    1. This only happens when you try to install the printer HP or with other programs?

    Step 1:

Before you install Windows Vista SP2, uninstall completely printing software.

Check out the link to uninstall a program:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/uninstall-or-change-a-program

    Step 2:

After installing SP2, try to install the latest version of the drivers available for the printer and the printer and check if it helps.

  • Local tech installed Windows Vista Home Premium after a hard drive failure. However, my key is Windows Basic. Is the copy, he put on my system illegal?

    Genuine Windows clean install

    Hello

I had a problem with my laptop Acer Extensa 5230th. It was not started and so I took for Matech computers.  They diagnosed as having a mechanical drive problem.  So they replaced the drive and installed a more recent version of windows vista on.  Note: I haven't bought a new copy of vista family premium, he said he was going to reinstall vista.  It had windows Vista Home Basic, it has installed vista Home premium and said that he had validated by call from windows, but I'm suspicious because I don't think you can use a base of windows key to validate Home premium!  It means that he has put on an illegal version on windows or used the genuine key that came with the laptop.

In addition, on computers of brands, if this happens again, how is a technician for legally to reinstall the original windows that it came with the new hard drive? How to install windows vista basic on the new hard drive by using the original key to make it genuine? What windows installation disc would you require? or is it easier to just buy a new copy of windows?  I heard that many technicians, prefer to install illegal versions of cracking of windows instead of the customer to buy the new installation of windows.
    Kind regards
    Lewis

Here are some utilities which displays product key Vista Matech used to activate Windows:

Please do not post your key on this forum, rather checking to see if it matches the key on your laptop, I(Correction: "if it isn't') it will fall sooner or later"Non-genuine"that your key was for another version of Vista so what was installed.
