Placement of WLAN Interface 5508

Hello

I'm deploying a 5508 controller in a test environment.

However, I have a question.

My switches "of basis' and 'access' are separated by a link of L3. (a link point to point routed 10 GB)

Has the 'access' layer 2 VLANS, one for voice and one for data. APs, get an IP address from the subnet data and you sign up for the controller in this way.

Management interface is physically attached to the heart, a 4.4.8.0/reseau 25 for any other 'shared' devices such as the UCS Manager, etc..

By default, the devices associating want to get their IP address to this VLAN (e.g. the 4.4.8.0/25 network). However, there is no scope for the local network, this interface is on.

I would create a separate VLAN for wireless guests and hosts to get their addresses in this range.

Is there a problem with me filing a separate interface of the WLC directly in the VLAN database on this access switch and letting the management interface in the subnet 'shared '. In this way, the DHCP server on my farm will see the DHCP from subnet 8.8.4.0/25 data req.

I know that in most scenarios, create you a port channel, resources shared until the WLC and allow several diff. VLANS for different SSIDS, however, in my lab is not simply possible since my limits of L2 are within the base only. My sites talk / MDFs are all 3-layer set for extending over one VLAN outside of the kernel is not possible.

As long as the WLC does not participate in spanning tree, I don't see a problem with falling one another physical port separated in my switch to access and use this as the interface that the APs register since and so, route their DHCP req.s of.

Thank you

If your installation is basically a layer 3 for closets.  Usually you create another interface on the WLC and put it on the vlan that you want to clear these users.  Because you do not LAG, you probably have a connected to your port/25 network 4.4.8.0, and then you have 2 port connected to your network 8.8.4.0/25.  Port 2 in your lab, does not mean that you must place in your kernel, you can connect that to your access sides if you wish.  Just make sure you have dhcp for the installation of clients.

  • M40-154 satellite WLAN interface does not send a single packet

    Hello

I own a Toshiba M40-154 with built-in Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Chipset. I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. 9.0.1.9 driver version.

The Windows hardware Manager shows no conflict about resources memory, interruptions or anything else, just said me eth. would be nice (.. .and Yes, I changed the WLAN switch in front of the box to 'on')

I configured both Wireless-Lan, once using the Toshiba and Windows XP itself once.

Wireless networks are recognized, but I can't make any connection. It seems kind of strange to me, because when sniffing Interface with Ethereal, lie, not a single packet is sent by my WLAN interface. I checked all the configuration on another laptop with the same chipset and just works well.

After the first installation of Win XP, I had a similar problem with my Marvel Yukon LAN interface. He comes to recognize connectivity (even LED a cover connectivity) but not sent or received a single package. I could only get rid of this feature by installing the device drivers located sequentially.

When you run the diagnostic tool for Toshiba it tells me just the network test "fails". I m really get angry with this tool to completely unnecessary IMHO, because she neither doesn´t made the distinction between my work correctly Marvel Yukon LAN and WIFI, nor give me any hint, what could be the problem...

Anyone with similar problems or able to give me a clue?

    Hello

I'm really confused. Last week I set up the Satellite M40 and WLAN network by a friend of mine. His unit is pre-installed with recovery DVDs and everything works fine.

Have you had problems at the beginning or just after installing WXP professional? I put t know how you installed the operating system, but I hope that you used the instructions to facilities provided by Toshiba. The order of the facilities is very important.

If the WIFI network is visible in my opinion there must be a problem with the WLAN settings. Your WLAN is locked with a WEP key? Try to establish a connection without restriction.

I hope that your access point is just configured and type of PPPoE. In this case the IP address must be the value automatically.

Sorry, but on this path, it is really not easy to say what may be the problem.

    Good bye

  • IDS 4215, good place for an interface sniff (LAN or DMZ)

I have this sensor with two interfaces only at work, I was asked to check that

an interface that is Ethernet 0 connected to switch in the DMZ, and 1 Ethernet connected to switch 4005, logically I have to monitor DMZ not switch box 4005 (since I had only two interfaces, my case), I'm right?

That means that ethernet 0 should be to sniff (surveillance) since it is connected to the DMZ and interface 1 for command and control, since it is connected to switch 4005, but according to cisco specifications

FastEthernet0/1: Interfaces do not support Inline (command and control Port)

Note: Cisco has mentioned FastEthernet, one I had Ethernet, makes all the difference?

Because I did not have this configuration, he made by another, should I change this?

It seems that your credentials are equipped with the basic ports (2 x Ethernet) with E0 C & C port, while E1 is followed by port.

BTW, Ethernet/FastEthernet ports are in fact the same.

To monitor your DMZ segment, then place the E1 in this segment, as E0 on inside segment where in addition to directing the Manager of its web management or CLI interface box, you probably can use basic VMS that comes free with it.

And since you have dedicated switch to host the entire DMZ segment, you can easily monitor box (SPAN) all and send all traffic to the IDS.

If you need to change the configuration, you may need to test at least to verify signatures is enabled/disabled and pc/mgt host is allowed to access the box and so on. But it is a good practice for audit and review the new config/setup, as it is a security zone, you need to do to monitor trust and you talk about all the possible threats, attacks or violations.

The SCS and CAM are on VLANS separated and the CASE has been added to the CAM without problem.

I followed the example of document for OOB WLAN (VLANs and mapping etc.), but I don't get all current identifications. The customer indicated in customers wireless on the device of the cam page

Once, randomly the own access connection Page appeared on the client (battery dead and waited for about an hour) but when I rebooted the CASE check it was she never came back.

I do not set up the SSO part, must it be filled or is it a valid test without it so far?

No idea where to start with this problem?

    Thank you

Yes, it looks like that somewhere, your 'placing in quarantine/no authenticated' vlan is filled to the full network, I do not see another explanation.

Try to configure the WLC for a new vlan quarantine which does not exist anywhere.

Then you should not have any access at all to anything whatsoever. Then try to leave this vlan gradually reach the heap and constantly test. You should find the point where the vlan 'flows '.

  • Trying to figure out a mooring - WLAN reviews

We have six controllers among three main campuses and two remote sites. I set up a WLAN guest at our main location on two of our controllers (we have two controllers for our main campus)

I would like to set up my other controllers so that a user can connect to the WLAN guest and their traffic is sent to my main controllers, this way they get to the intellectual property in the VLAN of my main controllers. It seems that mobility anchors are my answer but I find it very confusing.

For me, it looks that I create a new WLAN to my remote controls, go to the advance tab and choose mobility anchors and select my two PDCs I want my traffic to go to. But to set up a WLAN, I need to create an interface and VLAN to place the WLAN on.

Or is my thought full backward and I had to go to my main controllers, go towards mobility anchors and choose my remotes from there. My main controllers will then configure my remotes for the SSID. I can't do a lot of testing because it is a production system that needs to change management and it is difficult to test a remote site.

All my controllers are in the same group of mobility

Well, since you have all the same mobility group controllers, you are almost finished.

Create the ssid of comments on the other exatly the same as controller (s) in the main campus. The only difference will be that the interface you'll be assing the ssid on the other wlc is management. Then select on the ssid on the blue icon, anchor of mobility. This will bring you to a different screen... you will choose the ip address of the wlc two in the main campus... one at a time and choose Create mobility anchor.

    That should do it...

    Hello

I guess your VLAN DATA is another VIRTUAL local network that you have configured on the WLC.

    Make sure of the ff.
    1. you have configured the correct WLAN interface
    2. you have assigned the right WLAN interface on your SSID
    3. the DHCP of your users (where btw?) if in the WLC, check if it is on the correct subnet and that it is enabled

Also considering it is a safety device, check that the ff:
    1. you have configured the necessary policies and fro the AP and WLC
-Note that traffic CAPWAP able, to avoid any problem, just allow and fro WLC and AP for example, two policies a WLC-> AP and another AP-> WLC

    2. of course, the policies necessary to allow traffic

PS: The compatibility is not a problem, note that your servers SMB of device as a connection of the WLC. You should have no problem integrating the two

  • Elitepad 900 Windows 8.1 WLAN problem

I have several Elitepad 900, model number is D4T16AA.

Recently ugpraded to Windows 8.1 Enterprise using Microsoft Enterprise Agreement media, works as a full clean install (not an upgrade on the spot). All updates to existing Windows were then applied on top.

Now the WLAN has stopped working. The WLAN interface seems to be upward, but it says 'No networks detected' - of course, there are networks on the site: at least four of us, as well as a few edge com the roundabout.

I installed the latest driver from the support site (SP64649 that's as far as I know - correct me if I'm wrong). No joy.

I found this article: http://www.shcherbyna.com/?p=2113 and I downloaded and tried all the older versions of the driver mentioned here - SP60450, SP60664, SP60901, SP61232. In any case, I uninstalled the device, rebooted, installed the old driver and restarted. In all cases, the results were the same - 'no network not found. '

Please can someone confirm what version of the driver will actually work in this machine?

I lose a lot of time trying different things, surely it should "work", WLAN is no longer rocket science.

  • WRT54G v3.1 (firmware v4.21.1) is not route packets between interfaces

I am at a loss, because it seems that I'm really close to having my small network of installation works, except my router linksys faithful does not seem to be interested in packages of brewing between the WAN and WLAN interfaces.

    Background:

I just moved into a new House, AT & T U-verse is taking their sweet time thought of digging a trench, so I have no wired internet, but I have a phone with 4G support that I can use as a hotspot Wi - Fi (high-end and very limited functionality).

My goal is to rebuild my local network (two servers by cable, half a dozen various wireless devices), using my WRT54G as the central routing for her component.

    Plan:

    1. install a wireless bridge that connects to the Wifi 4 G hotspot.

    2. connect ZyXel bridge to the WAN port on the WRT54G

    3. connect and other devices in LAN WRT54G and wireless interfaces.

    Results:

    1. I got a ZyXel WAP3205 to this effect, and it seems to work fine (when connected to PC, PC is to get internet access through it perfectly.)

2 seems to work fine. the linksys router is able to obtain an IP address on DHCP 4G Wifi hotspot (the Zyxel will exercise a passthrough.) The admin/diagnosis tab let me DNS resolve/ping/traceroute arbitrary sites on the internet.

3 is not happy. I am able to access the router admin page. I can ping the router from any of my devices to end IP addresses, but nothing goes further. I can not ping IP of 4G Wifi hotspot for example (but I do go in the WRT diagnostic tools)

    Details of config:

-4G - Wifi hotspot is configured as a DHCP/Gateway server. His IP address is defined as 10.10.10.1, subnet 255.255.255.0, assignment of IP addresses between 10.10.10.2 - 10.10.10.254

-WRT router is configured as a DHCP/Gateway server as well. Its local IP address is set as 192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0, IPs assignments between 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.51.

-All the rest is to default settings. Mode of operation is the gateway, routing table is showing

Destination LAN IP.  Subnet mask |  Entry door |  Hop count | Interface

    192.168.1.0. 255.255.255.0. 0.0.0.0. 0           | Wireless LAN &

    10.10.10.0 | 255.255.255.0. 0.0.0.0. 0           | WAN (Internet)

    0.0.0.0             | 0.0.0.0. 10.10.10.1. 0           | WAN (Internet)

    This seems reasonable.

-Status/router tab displays an IP WAN address 10.10.10.172, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 10.10.10.1, DNS1 10.10.10.1, which looks very good as well.

I tried to adjust various settings on the router (gateway in router mode switching, disable DHCP and manually configure IP addresses), but nothing seems to convince the router to start, you know, routing of packets autour.

I hope I'm missing something stupid here, and I'll be grateful for any help and judgment on this.

    Thank you

    Henri

    * Edit: I should add, I use this little guy for years previous houses, and it has always worked, even if its WAN port was always plugged into a modem cable of some sort. So I don't think that the WRT54G is likely to be broken or defective.

  • WLC5508 problem with dhcp and flexconnect local switching

    Hello
I have a new WLC 5508 with firmware 8.0.133.0 (suggested one right now) and I'm trying to set up a WLAN with flexconnect and local switching, but when I try to connect a client it is not getting an IP address.

    Here's what I did:
    -put the AP mode flexconnect
-support vlan in the AP has allowed
-local switching license and only in wlan
-spread the vlan from AP to the local gateway
-put the IP helper on local and pointed the wlc management ip gateway
-set up a scope for the vlan Server dhcp internal WLC
-set up a working group with the vlan-wlan association flexconnect

    Here is what I checked:
-l'AP obtains an IP address in dhcp in the vlan, and a lease for that appear in the DHCP Server internal to the WLC
-If I put the interface vlan on a switch in DHCP it gets the ip address of the same way
-If I set the static IP address in the wireless client it ping the local gateway and navigate normally
-J' tried the deactivation/activation proxy DHCP in the management connected to the WLAN interface, but nothing happened
-J' tried Central DHCP activation of treatment with no luck

It seems a dhcpdump on the wireless client client ask for an IP address, but get no response, as if it were the DHCP request is be filtered or diverted somehow.

    All you other ideas?

DHCP on the controller is not a real dhcp server, see it that way. The management interface is used when defining aid ip and proxy dhcp must be enabled for internal dhcp. In your configuration, dhcp only works for the AP and should not work for any cable customer. You should be able to use the IP helper pointing to your WLC management interface but also make sure that you create an interface on the WLC for the local subnet and assign the interface to a correct address, even if it is not actually using it. Then in the new dynamic interface of this local subnet, you create, make sure that the primary dhcp is the ip address of the controller management. I think it works.

I would really use a true if possible dhcp server or even put a dhcp scope on the interface of L3 on the production site.

Apart from the question of Surendra, I think your config looks totally bad :-)

You say just the DNS in IP pool is the WLC management interface. Which makes no sense and will prevent webauth to work normally.

You also say that you attach your comments interface to the virtual ip address? Why is this?

I think it would help if you post a 'run-config show' of your WLC so we can check for errors.

The manual indicates that the keyboard and wireless mouse are connected to the all-in-one computer! I recommend the user manual.

Usually the keyboard and wireless mouse may be detected by computer automatically.
But in case that does not work, you may need to match the WLan keyboard and mouse.

    (1) turn on the computer
    (2) press and hold the middle mouse button
    (3) slice the power that, in the back of the mouse on the market
    (4) the battery indicator starts flashing to indicate that the mouse is ready to be paired
    (5) keep the mouse near the bottom right of the computer within 10 cm place the WLan receiver
    (6) the battery indicator lights up for about 5 seconds if the pairing is successful
