  Each computer has different startup programs - if you if you stop that you need you can turn it back on. See step 5 to turn them off.

  Windows 7 is slow

  (1) unplug all devices such as printers, external hard drives, microphone, webcams etc.

  (2) if the computer has only 1 GB or 2 GB of RAM, try adding more RAM.
  (3) make sure that your drivers are up-to-date.

  One thing about RT, is that applications written for traditional processors, 32-bit and 64-bit programs, does not work on it.  They are simply not compatible with ARM processors.  So similar to Mac from the old days, most of the viruses or malware just cannot run on it at all.

  In addition, Windows RT has some strong reinforcements that block the execution of arbitrary code. Only software signed digitally (marked with an encrypted key) by Microsoft can run on the Surface of RT.  This is another layer of security.

  Finally, because the software can be loaded on the Surface RT by the store or portal approved your business (essentially an internal store), all the apps that you load on the Surface RT had to pass inspection before being put at your disposal.  Similar to the iPhone and Android app stores, this offers a level more (but not infallible) security.

  It is worth noting that because the Surface Pro running the regular version of 32-bit Windows, it might be infected.  I firmly believe in the bulk of the security, but the Pro can run any other security suite you wanted, just like a traditional PC.
