  You use the default key, you will need to reactivate Windows 7:

  How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
   
  1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
   
  (2) press the ENTER"" key.
   
  (3) select your "country" in the list.
   
  (4) choose the option "activate phone".
   
  (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

  Hi, I recently bought a desktop computer (compaq presario cq5110y) and he qualified for the upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out in October. I followed the direcions on the sheet accompanying the tower and then asked me to fax on my receipt on a proof of purchase. I got a cover letter that I printed and has attempted to send the info to them several times without a bit of luck. So I'm on the phone with hp customer service for other ways, I can send a copy of this information. After hold for 15 min, the guy was told to go online and try to find for me because he could not get what. At the beginning of the call I already said that I looked everywhere online. In any case, I just tried hp online support, and whenever I click on my product model it fails and he sends me to an error page. All I want to do is send a copy of my receipt and proof of purchase. I'm stuck and starts to get pretty frustrated. Does anyone know the address for the upgrade team I can just send it to? Or their email? Phone number? No matter what?

  If the problem persists after that you have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the product key and activate the phone, then you can try the following steps to rename the Software Licensing folder and check if it helps.

  a. Click Start. type cmd in start search. Right click on cmd and select run as administrator.

  b. at the command prompt, type the following commands, and press ENTER.

  c. type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you're sure, select Yes)

  d. type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

  e. Enter: Rename tokens.bar tokens.dat

  f. type: cd %windir%\system32

  g. type: net start slsvc

  h. type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient).

  i. restart your computer twice.

  You may need to perform a phone activation after choose the option change the product key and make sure that the problem.

  I have the recovery disk and used it and my pc worked for like half a day and now it won't

  What happens is it starts and the first box pop up is "Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications - install wizard.

  I can't after that, I tried to install, or cancel, but nothing after about 2 minutes, the system stops and restarts again, and it goes on and

  I don't know what to do. I googled the message and he thinks I have illegal software I don't

  I thought I'd be factory restore but nothing happens

  In order to put the computer laptop back to factory settings, you must use the recovery disc.
  Insert the recovery disk and to start Notepad using this disc (press F12 and choose ODD)
  Recovery procedure would start and you should simply follow the instructions on the screen.

  PS: the recovery process formats the HARD drive

  1. download the updated WGA executable from this link:

  2. save the file in the C:\Temp folder.

  4. visit the windows update site and check if you are able to download the updates.

• Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications stalls to "execution of process after installation.

  On a corporate network, with a licensed copy of Windows, I just finished installing a load of updates that a PC has missed in the last months or years.  To restart, a window titled "Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications".  I click Next and it works fine, up to 80%, then it hangs at "running the process after installation" and never finished.  It is present each time that I reboot and reconnect.

  How can I do complete, or stop to run to the log in?

  1. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

  2. Restart then open IE (only) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. If KB905474 is available now, deselect / uncheck and then hide it.

  NB: KB905474 may be listed in the optional software category on the left side. If an update of root certificate is listed there, also, install it to take full advantage of the integrated IE security.

• Obsolete Windows Genuine Advantage on the MS Site

  When trying to update Windows Media Player 11 on the MS site, I wonder to validate my version of Windows XP using the Windows Genuine Advantage that comes back and tells me that the tool itself is outdated.  I then go hunt down the latest version of the Windows Genuine Advantage tool and download it on the spot.  I try validation again, but he seeks only on the MS downloads version itself which of course, is outdated to me in an endless loop.  Not quite as definitely infinite that the MS Online Chat, but nevertheless, I always have Media Player 11 on my PC.

  Please understand this is a problem with not getting to the point of validation of my store bought, legitimate and previously posted a version of Windows XP (with updates to date) - this is the Windows Genuine Advantage, which is obsolete.
