Any help appreciated, and my apologies if the answer is already on here.

Sounds not good, have you tried to connect an external mouse to check if this happens with it? If this isn't the case, then try it.
But a good idea would be to bring your machine to an authorized service partner, to check if your computer has a hardware related issue.

I had the same problem with my Tecra S1, so I sent it to my local service partner, and they fixed to swap the keyboard and the touchpad.

Welcome them

    Hello @Blackcow2 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that the cursor is jumping all over your ENVY TouchSmart m6-k015dx Sleekbook.

If this problem just started, I'd say a system restore to before the show began. This will cancel the changes to the system, uninstall the Windows updates and uninstall any software recently installed after the date of restoration. Example: If you have installed AVG anti-virus on 12 September, do a restore before allowing you to uninstall the software. A restore for the 13th does not remove the software. The system restore does not delete your personal files.

  • Mouse pointer jumps around on Windows 7 VM

    How to make it behave?
I have a Windows 7 VM with VMware tools installed.

    These preferences are set:

    • Take the keyboard and mouse input on the click of the mouse.
    • Automatically capture and ungrab the mouse.
    • Hide the cursor to ungrab.
    • Optimize the mouse for games: never

Often, the mouse pointer passes to a new spot when I click it.  For example, without exit fullscreen VM, I click on the center of the screen one pointer jump upward or sometimes low.  Click once again, the same thing.  I tried to uncheck Hide toolbar without result.

In addition, the virtual machine is maximized on my second monitor, if I move outside it to my main monitor mouse may not work.  In other words, if I click on an object, say Outlook, nothing happens.  It is as if the mouse is not there; the click does not happen.

This does not happen with my XP VM.  On the virtual Windows 7 machine, Windows is not activated yet.

I gave up and created new WMs.  They work very well.

Remove the old VMs of misconduct.

  • Toshiba Portege series 7100 recovery

    Please can someone help?

I have a laptop Toshiba Portege 7100 series has no recovery disk that does not work properly. Can I reset factory default? If so, how?

Can I restore laptop without the disc?

    Post edited by: helenglover

Yes you can set it to factory settings, but for this you need original Toshiba Recovery CD for this laptop model. I presume that you don't have, but you can do your own installation of the OS. The drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba supports the page.

Sorry, but your question is is not clear to me.

  • Satellite P100-188: type the question - forgotten key & pointer jump

    Hello

Bought my p100-188 week last to replace my toshiba PIII 2.66. After a week I noticed that when typing unless I press really hard that it does not record the keys. Also
the mouse pointer when it moves around the screen tends to move momentarily on a point, then jump past.

    All thought is appreciated.

    Hello

    I recommend you this announcement:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=14317

Check it out. It describes a similar or the same question. It should help.
In addition, you should compare the version of the BIOS on the laptop with the version of the BIOS on Toshiba page. If there is a newer version so you can update. But be sure you use the good BIOS and the right update procedure.

  • My entry point jumps away from the place where I post (and double-click) my cursor

I had a lot of trouble with the slider staying in the place where I have the position of the entry point.  I will place the cursor at the end of a sentence - or even in the middle of a sentence for an insert.  Then, when I start typing, the new text will eventually be listed somewhere else in the document.  This occurs in Microsoft Word (2007) and a single Note (2007).  The entry point for the text does not stay when I click the cursor for some reason any.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I work in Vista Home Premium on a Dell Studio 1500 series.  I use a Kensington Expert Mouse to operate the cursor.

    Antaresting,

Its probably your touchpad. Turn off your touchpad while you write. Sometimes I accidentally type my touchpad with my Palm when I type. Thank you, Jeremy M - Support Engineer

  • Portege series: when they come in the 21st century?

I owned laptop computers Portege during the last millennium and has always been happy with them. My last was a M100 and I liked especially for its trackpoint instead of the Tablet and much of its equipment has been running flawlessly on Linux (in fact the only system I run on my machines). Analog video output with large resolutions, however, was not convincing on this latest model. And since 2000 on screens with connectors DVI appeared. On the Porteges, with cutting-edge technology in other areas, Toshiba decided to stay with the D - Sub connector since the 1980s. For me a reason to switch to another brand.

Now, we are in 2009. Yet, the only video output on a Portégé is an analog D - Sub connector. I see televisions flat screen with HDMI everywhere wherever I go and I plug in my laptop (not a portege) for them. In this way, I have photo slideshows for friends and family and I watch my movies in hotels. For my work, I have to work abroad, sometimes on another site. I bring my laptop and connect to a large TFT via DVI. If I need to connect to a projector, I do so via DVI. If the projector is very old, I have a DVI-> D - Sub adapter with me.
Don't forget that you can always have adapters to DVI to D - Sub, but not the other way around.

But now, I'm a little jealous of Portege users. Why? Because of the Transflective Display. No other vendor sells laptop with Transflective Display. And if at that time, I have a choice: EITHER an output Transflective screen OR a digital video. And NO, I don't want to exploit to a docking station with me all the time. A laptop should be portable and a Portege is especially portable. But not with a docking station.

So here's my request to Toshiba: Please, give the next edition of laptop computers Portege a digital DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort video connector. I don't really like that, there are adapters. In 2009, no one wants an obsolete D - Sub connector of the last millennium. DO YOUR CUSTOMERS A FAVOR! PROVIDE THEM WITH TODAYS TECHNOLOGY, NOT YESTERDAY! I really want to spend my money on a decent laptop, but now, Toshiba doesn't want my money.

I hope to have an answer from someone who has the background info: the next revision of the Porteges will have a digital video interface? If so, I'm willing to wait for them. If this isn't the case, I'll stick to something else.

    Best regards

    USENIX

    Hello

I read your announcement carefully and I must say that you posted really interesting review on Portege laptops. At first, I must say that I agree with you that it would be nice to have a HDMI or DVI output on each laptop model. The fact is that portable Portege are professional laptops and in this market segment is not a high demand for a HDMI interfaces. I hope that this will change in the future and Toshiba offers will be more models of laptops with HDMI video output.

As you know in most computer laptop business professional will be used by clients or in the office. At the office you can use it with docking station. Docking stations offers DVI ports and you can use your laptop with the latest external displays, which you can find on the market. Video signal will be sent to an external display in the best quality and allow you a comfortable working with your laptop.

At this current HDMI ports are available on almost all the Qosmio, Satellite and Satellite Pro laptops. In any case, is really nice to have more different video output connections and I hope Toshiba will offer it on their next model of Portege R.
After HDMI all ports are available on almost all multimedia devices that can be used with laptops and can be used to watch movies or business presentation.

Let's see what Toshiba will do in the future.

  • Portege series, different on R100 and M100 battery life?

    Hello everyone,

I want to buy a new laptop with a high mobile work autonomy. The R100 and M100 are retained, but anyone know if there are differences in the life of the battery. I tested the two NBs to my dealer, but I have no experience of working with them over a long period.

    Goodbye, Tanya-LB

    Hi Tanya,

I had the honour to test these two laptops in our society. They are all two developed business model for great mobility and battery life. On one side you have the R100 with a Centrino ULV 900 MHz (ULV = Ultra Low Voltage) and a lithium-ion-polymer battery. This combination allows a battery life of 2 hours and with the second extra battery up to 6.4 hours.

On the other side, you have the M100 with a LV Centrino with 1200 Mhz (LV = low voltage) and lithium-ion battery. If you need that one unloading in use battery is approximately 4.5 hours with an extra battery up to very good 8.5 hours.

So in my opinion, these books are really well designed and complete specifications of high mobility. The M100 has the highest battery life and performance.

If you have any questions, ask me.

  • How can I erase fingerprints on Portege series

In my school, we have a decent supply of laptops and when one of them breaks we are told either wait briefly so that it be repaired or if it's more serious, that we are given a new and our data is transferred to our server.

I was recently given a student who was expelled from my school computer and the TrueSuite program maintains his fingerprints and I can't find any way to get rid of them.

I don't like on the stored passwords.
I just want to delete it and add my own so that I can use the features of this program.

Is it possible to correct this situation other than to go to the children's home and get fingerprinted?

    Hello

I doubt that you can remove this footprint without being locked in Windows System.
You can either use the footprint or the password to log on the system.

If you don t have one of these possibilities, then you won't be able to connect.
