USB 3.0 issues with Portege Z830 & Renesas electronic drivers

Hi all

I have a Toshiba Portege Z830. Until today I have use any pendrive USB 3.0 external. I bought a Kingston HyperX, but when I try to use it, the port recognizes the drive, but disappears in a few seconds...

Also when I use a port USB 2.0 back, it displays the unit, but it cannot read the contents of the USB drive.

I checked in internet forums, and I see similar cases, but not a clear solution...

More information:

1. the disc works if I restart windows on SafeMode (Windows 7-64 bit)
2. the disc works on other computers (without electronic drivers Renesas).

I think it's a problem of Renesas electronic drivers, but I've updated, installed the modern version, power usb change, etc. but no solution...

This ultrabook is an expensive appliance, as well as the USB key, and of course, this should be a solution...

Thank you for your help

Hello

I downloaded the latest 2.1.28.0 USB 3.0 v driver available from the Toshiba UE driver page.
The fichiers.ini (64 bit driver) contains information that this USB 3.0 host controller driver is developed by Renesas Electronics Corporation.

I read a lot about the problems of USB 3.0 as part of different devices to USB 3.
The questions are not related to a specific manufacturer for laptop or device in most of the cases it s a compatibility issue between the two devices, I think that's most of the time impossible to test all USB 3.0 flash drives, HARD drive, etc. with different controllers USB 3.0 for compatibility problems always seems

I found a 3rd party page where you can find a few other drivers USB 3.0 of Renesas and NEC. But the use of these drivers is at your risk and perils do not know if they work properly.
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/Renesas.htm

I think you might have to force windows to use the specified driver, then first choose "Browse my computer dethrone" and then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers...". ». This must be done in the Device Manager.

Would be interesting to know how it works

  • 1.60 BIOS does not recognize the USB bootable in Portege Z830

    Hello
I have a Portege Z830 with BIOS version 1.60. It runs an operating system, ubuntu, (without a windows OS, it is not possible to upgrade the BIOS). I have a USB bootable (debian, created by copying a .iso image using dd) which works on other computers, but not on this one. With the USB at the top of the boot priority, it is not recognized as a device start-up and the computer boots from the HARD drive. The boot is in legacy mode, no UEFI (there is no switch in the menu of the UEFI/legacy BIOS).

Pointers how to allow a booting from a USB key on this computer?

    Thank you and best regards,

    James

As you probably know, Toshiba does not support Linux so you can't upgrade the BIOS under Linux OS.
Also, it is not available to be installed from USB.

It runs as an application and must be run under Windows running.

  • Re: Portege Z830 with keyboard United States in Europe?

    Hello

I am interested in getting a Toshiba Portege Z830. Unfortunately, everywhere I looked this unit is offered with UK keyboard (i.e. high enter key, running toward the left, / between moving to the left and Z) which is a real bother. I live in Poland and our keyboard is identical to the United States one, so I'm used to and have on other computers, I'm working on. Toshiba always offers its computers (at least in Poland) with the UK keyboard layout.

My question is whether it is possible to buy Toshibe Portege Z830 with a keyboard layout of United States in Europe?

I contacted Toshiba Polish hotline, but they did not support in this case.

    > My question is if it is possible to buy the Toshiba Portege Z830 with a keyboard layout of United States in Europe?

Maybe you should order a U.S. version of Portege Z830 :(
On the other hand, you could order a keyboard support a US provision and replace it.
Usually, the registered maintainer Toshiba in your country should be able to provide this single keyboard.

  • Fresh install of Windows 7 on Portege Z830-10R with new mSata SSD

I have Toshiba Portege Z830-10r and you want to reinstall Windows 7 costs on mSata new SSD.

The problem is, * Windows does not recognize the device and wants additional drivers.*

The 120 GB SSD Kingston is visible in the BIOS, updated automatically in AHCI mode (no option to change).
    How to fix?

    > The 120 GB SSD Kingston is seen in the BIOS.
Where did you see the SSD in BIOS?
If it is stated on the first page of the BIOS, including the name of readers and other details such as the size of the SSD?
If the SSD drive is recognized properly, there must be another question, why the system requires drivers.

I m wondering what camera you used to install Windows 7.
Boot you from external CD/DVD USB drive or did you use the USB flash memory key to install the Win 7 OS?

The point why I m asking is one of the key flash memory forum members used USB to reinstall the Win 7 OS on the same model of laptop, and it was not possible because the USB flash memory stick has been connected to the USB 3.0 port.

In case you have also connected the device to the USB 3.0, please try other * USB 2.0 port reinstall the system!

  • Compatibility issue with stereo w/USB Port (and radio too) with the "rocket" GB 2

I bought a 2 GB rocket. In MSC Mode, I downloaded a few songs and I went to connect to my Sony MHC GT222 (with the USB cable), and he said "No Media". Read the manual, I found that the MHC can only read on devices FAT16 or FAT32. My question is this:

Can I format the "rocket" in FAT16 or FAT32? Then what? Download a firmware update, update day, then format the device menu?

Or should I just format the device menu? The unit is Sony too, so the same restriction applies.

Oh, and I can plug a 4 GB microSD card in the "rocket" GB 2? When I bought it, told me that it can only support 2 GB microSD.

    Thank you for your time.

I believe that I have found a workaround. Please have in mind that it is a Sony stereo or a USB car stereo.

And remember also that Sandisk did not test compatibility with Sony, and so this workaround might be replaced by a firmware update.

It worked for my Fuze 2 GB.

    • Have a LCD card and put it in the slot. Preferably a 4 GB, 8 GB or 16 GB, if you have the resources. Reasons later.
    • You connect Fuze on a USB port.
    • Under Windows XP, my computer appears a Sansa Fuze removable drive (say: and a removable drive (let's say I the removable drive after the "rocket" is the LCD map.))
    • Now, the removable disk in a directory called MUSIC (usually the "rocket" already done this a when you plugged the micro card) drag and drop all the music files you want to access.
    • Remove the "rocket".
    • Wait so the "rocket" updates the music database.
    • With the USB cable, connect the rocket in the Sony stereo / car stereo. Press Play. The player is available as a silent reader, and music should start playing.

Why the card must be equal to or greater than 4 GB? Because these cards are formatted in FAT32, and these materials are accessible by the Sony with USB ports. Why with a card? Because the Sony apparently are programmed to recognize a player as a SOLID-STATE drive or an adapter for an SSD, not until the case of the "rocket" (not the technical details, but it's more understandable) and in this case the Sony, even once, apparently recognizes the "rocket" as an adapter for one SSD drive, so the internal memory is invisible. A Pro with this is that the "rocket" can be used in a way as a music for personal tastes in the internal memory and music for work in external memory if you have a Sony with USB port in the car or at the office.

  • Portege Z830-10F - WLAN stops working when USB3.0 port is in use

    Hello

On my Portege Z830-10F wireless stops working when I plug in a device on the USB 3 port. The wireless connection back upwards as soon as I remove the device.

The problem occurs with any device I plug. I tested with disks external usb (usb 2 and usb 3), USB, a receiver wireless mouse and a printer/scanner.

This problem only occurs when something is connected to the USB 3 port. The USB 2 ports on the rear do not have the problem.

Port USB 3 itself works very well.

    Running windows 8 pro:
    * Wireless lan adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR9200WB-1NG (version 10.0.0.75 driver)
    * USB port 3: Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0096 (version 6.2.9200.16420 driver)

I see that I ve got the latest drivers installed on the wireless LAN card and the usb host controller 3.

The problem arises as well on windows 7 and windows 8 pro. I used the wizard to upgrade Toshiba upgrade of windows 7 to windows 8.

This problem is present since I got this laptop. I ve already done a reinstall / recovery back to the original with windows configuration 7 but this doesn´t solve the problem.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is there a way to fix this?

    Thank you!

    Hello

To be honest, it's the first time I read on this issue.
I have no idea how a device attached to the USB 3.0 port could affect the Wlan functionality.

I assume its hardware fault and cela must be verified by a certified maker Toshiba.

  • Portege Z830: Cannot install Win7, complains about driver CD/DVD

    Hello!

I have a brand new Portege Z830 and as usual wanted to start by installing a new installation of Windows 7 x 64 (that I don't want the software provided and cannot be trusted, that it is safe in any case). I have saved all of the disk, prepared a flashdisk USB bootable with Windows Setup and it. The flashdisk OK boots, Windows wonder about my language and keyboard, and then shows a screen where I can choose between installation, repair and something else (the Recovery Console, I think).

I click on install, Windows starts the installation program aand once a first dialog box appears, it displays an error message that basically says (this is a translation of the message from my localized Windows): "a required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you use a driver from the floppy disk, CD, DVD, or the flashdisk, insert now. "And I can't get over this error message. The strange thing is, there is no reason for that Windows requires no additional driver, because he can read the installation flashdisk (apparently) and he can see the ultrabook SSD, too (can be verified as well in the recovery console and clicking the browse of this dialog box). So far I have tried:

    (1) four different Windows 7 images (two of them to MSDN AA, two physical, that have been used successfully to install the OS before).

    (2) switch SATA mode to AHCI Compatible.

    (3) two different flashdisks.

    (4) any combination of the boot order.

Nothing has worked. I even tried e-mailing of Toshiba, but all messages to return with 'user unknown' (understandable, I had to guess addresses since Toshiba doesn't seem to provide some official way to communicate with them - or is hiding if well I have found it). Does anyone have an idea what I can try next? I rather like the Z830 and I'd love to use it, but the ability to install my own installation of the operating system is essential for me.

    Thanks, Pepak

    > I tried e-mailing of Toshiba...
Maybe stupid question now, but have you tried to contact Microsoft too? If the BIOS is OK, and if all the USB ports work correctly, I don t think it is Toshiba related issue. Toshiba offers notebook with the original recovery image (WIN7 64-BIT HOME PREMIUM) and ability to create bootable USB stick with the recovery image that can be used when you want.

What you do now is your own installation of the OS. Toshiba has to do is to offer to all the important factors, download tools and utilities on the drivers page.

What else could you try? Try to get external USB ODD and trying to install WIN7 using Microsoft installation disc. I'm sure it will work.

  • Portege Z830 - can't boot from DVD

I have a Portege Z830-11F. I upgraded my machine to Windows 8 and but I didn't like it. So I decided to do a clean install of Windows 7.

I downloaded the file .iso on the internet and it was engraved on a DVD.
I plugged in my external DVD drive, rebooted, entered in the BIOS and changed the boot order and restarted again.

Everything went well and I was able to install Windows 7.
But I didn't have the drivers, (thought the BONE would recognise the driver LAN at least, I was wrong)
So I've upgraded to Windows 8 again (without restarting) just to download the drivers for Windows 7.

I did, but now I can't boot from the DVD.
When I enter the boot order section, sometimes the DVD is listed, sometimes not.

In both cases, the machine starts with Windows 8 straightly, does not allow me to boot from the DVD.
The strange thing is that I was able to start on the same DVD in the first place.

What can I do to start from the DVD?

At first, I must say that I n t understand why you didn't create recovery media before you changed something. Using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator you can create USB recovery and the whole situation would be not so complicated. This recovery image is activated but now if you install own OS version you will not be able to use the product key you got with your laptop.

Anyway, now proceed to a complete stop Win8 and after having this beginning for laptop and use F12 to get into the boot menu. Of course your external DVD must be connected before starting your laptop. It may be that external drive is allowed on the like on my U940 USB boot option.

  • Portege Z830-PT224E - Windows 7 display of function FN has lost

Suddenly, I realized that I lost the display function button.

In addition, some function keys do not work like the brightness, the keyboard light, wireless.
However, some such as volume and mute control still works although not displayed as flashcrads.

I downloaded the latest software of value added and enabled, and the flashcrads it has not changed anything.

My system is Portege Z830-PT224E with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium SP1

As far as I know you can use the FN key for the function keys, but also the function keys would work without pressing the FN key. In this case the function mode must be enabled in the BIOS.
Please go to BIOS (F2) > Advanced-> system configuration

Here, you should see the special function key mode (without pressing the FN key) that can be enabled or disabled.

But if this issue is software related, it would be pointless to change this option.
I think that in this case you must first uninstall the VAP.

Then you must clean the registry with CCLeaner.
Restart the laptop between procedures and then install the most recent PPV available for Win 7 64 bit

Reboot once more, and then test the FN keys. Good luck

  • Screen turns black and shuts off when wakes up Portege Z830 - 11M

    Hi all

Anyone know what could be the reason for the screen goes black and turns off when the laptop wakes up?
The laptop is Toshiba Portege Z830 - 11 M W7HP, purchased in September.

The problem started shortly after I bought the laptop, but gradually began with a period of 1-2 seconds black screen whenever I tried to wake the portable computer of fashion 'sleep'. He didn't look like a regular part "blackout" of the wake-up process so I just tried to ignore it, but it started to happen more often recently. It got really worse after two months of use and the black screen two or three times until I'm at the login screen. The error was also difficult to re-create because it was random. Sometimes, the screen went black once sometimes twice or just blinked for a fraction of a second.

Yesterday, I worked during the day and at night it turned really bad. The screen went black several times, whenever I went back to work after a short break.
I changed the laptop off when I'm done, but when I turned back on it in the morning, the screen was just black. I tried to use the touchpad, but it is only the screen on the gray.

Can anyone suggest what to do?

So finally that cannot start the laptop is Hmm normal?
It would be interesting to know if this help:
    -Battery adapter and ac removal
-Press and hold power button do this for 30 sec
    -Then reconnect both sides.
    Turn on the laptop?

If this is not good enough, you're in trouble I guess its hardware related issue and in this case you must service help

  • Portege Z830, PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

    Hello

I have a problem on my Toshiba Portege Z830. After that I turn to the top of the computer, windows attempts even to start, instead, I saw the following message:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.
    Insert system disk in drive.
    Press any key when ready...

From what I understand, it seems that laptop is trying to boot from LAN, instead of SSD.

I did that in the BIOS boot order is reasonable. It is:
    1 HDD / SSD
    2. USB memory
    3. USB WEIRD
    4. DISKETTE DRIVE
    5 LAN
I also tried to load the defaults in the BIOS, just in case.

I also tried to re - install Windows 7 and Ubuntu installation, USB. In both cases, Installer was not able to discover any drive where system could have been installed.

That seemed to me like a problem of material with SSD. And it's actually the second time I'll have it with this laptop. I got it about 4 months ago and at that time I sent my laptop certified Toshiba service in Zuerich. They sent it back, saying that the material was OK and he must have had a software problem.

To my surprise, after that they sent back for some portable reason indeed started working, I have not yet lost all data (didn't need to reinstall the system, everything worked).
I was happy, but since now the same thing happen again, I don't know what I have to do.

Whether any other SSD that hardware problem? If Yes, what else can I try?

If the only option is broken hardware, how can I make sure that this time he gets permanently fixed by Toshiba service?

    Thank you
    Alan

    > From what I understand, it seems that laptop is trying to boot from LAN, instead of SSD.

It's OK; the message appears if no other boot device could be found.

    _Question: _
SSD or HDD disk appears on the first page of the BIOS (size of the SSD drive and the name should be visible)?
In case the SSD drive isn't in the list, there must be a problem with this device and I guess you have to replace it.

    > If the only option is broken hardware, how can I make sure that this time he gets permanently fixed by Toshiba service

You simply ask the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country.
I guess guys will try to recover the laptop and where this is not possible, they would replace the faulty device.

  • Portege Z830: None buttons FN and fingerprints after Win 8 upgrade

I have a Portege Z830 PT224V with windows 7 64 bit... I went for the upgrade of Windows 8, but get as error "/ windows Explorer is not responding", I decided to clean up the computer and start again.

I chose a "all delete and reinstall Windows" option in windows 8, which is used when things do not work. By doing this, I got a new installation of windows and eliminate errors.

Now my 'Portege Z830' specificities as finger print scanning and other controls of forces nouvelles (Fn F6 and F7 to control brightness and all other functions) don't work anymore.

I tried to download the drivers but seems that they do not enter the set of drivers.
Is there a way I can back the controls? Maybe some tools or something?

Simply put: a USB 3.0 port does not work but the other USB 2.0 works correctly.
    Right?
    > because one day before, I had a moment really difficult mounting a USB flash and may have damaged connectors.
This could be possible, perhaps that damage you it to the other hand, I recommend to check the Device Manager if all USB ports are recognized.
