Portege 4000 - video card

Hi, I have a Portege 4000 and the computer detects the video card, but I can't install a driver on it. Another problem is that my computer does not detect my WiFi wireless.
Can someone help me?

Hello

I think you should do a system with your recovery CD recovery. All the drivers are properly installed. But don't forget to backup your data.

Good bye

  • Can I change the video card in the Portege M700?

I recently received a Portege M700 as a gift and I didn't really like the Intel supplied with the laptop video card. If I want to change the video card to a more adapted to more modern games. Something like an nVidia or ATi video card. I don't think it's possible, but if this is the case, could someone answer?

    Thanks in advance.

    > On the other hand, it is possible to change the whole motherboard, and if it is possible, it would cost a lot?
The replacement of the motherboard is possible, but it can be replaced with the same card published by Toshiba for this series of laptop.
In addition, the replacement of the motherboard is a costly business because the mobo is one of the expensive laptop parts

  • Portege R500 - Powerpoint and dual head video card

Urgent! I have a presentation to do tomorrow.

Anyone know if the Portege R500 has a dual head video card so that Powerpoint can be used in presenter view. That is to say, the notes show on laptop and external display or via a projector presentation?

I put t know what you mean exactly with dual head video card but the Portege R500 may be connected to the projector too.
You could extend your desktop on the projector by using the FN + F5 key combination and could spend the PowerPoint on the extended desktop.
    This should also work.

The 570 both the 580 on the list supported and therefore do not require the 'hack '. In my case, using a GTX 480, I need to use the hack, because it is not supported.

All the cards that you mention are good. Other good brands are Palit, Zotac, Asus, perspective, etc. The differences between these brands are very small. The choice of one over the other should be based on the price guarantee functions, where features usually boil down to the speed clock and the amount of memory.

I suggest that take you a look at our last results page, because it allows you to sort on (almost) all fields of the database by clicking on a column header, so you can find the info you want faster. http://ppbm5.com/DB-PPBM5-2.php

The new database contains all entries, since the new configuration cannot be transferred from data provided after January 29. All the news from before that time would require new presentations. Nevertheless, with about 340 entries is still an important source of information.

  • Portege 4000 - upgrade RAM & graphic card driver installation

I'm having some trouble with my Portege 4000 for the moment. I installed XP on a disk, but will no longer have that I have 256 MB of RAM...

-Have you tried 2 manufacturers but the PC133 512 is not compatible. However, my system has an IBM of PC100 256 chip, which was bought early last year, after much trial and error, and I wonder now if the motherboard will be more suited to the PC100 and PC133 non?

-Consider the options alternative to XP, 98SE or 2000 because they are lighter operating systems. I can put it on a spare drive (test). Is it possible to set up a partition for recovery CD Rom (which has 98SE) on this subject and have little space left over to install another Linux operating system or its Manager partition crushes everything?

-J' put another post for .exe drivers related to the display/vga for 98SE and 2000.

-Just for the record, not all Linux distributions seem to go back on the size of the screen, so it takes some work...

    Thanks much for any help.

    The protégé 4000 is compatible with the PC133 modules! AFAIK, you can upgrade RAM of this notebook 1 GB (1024 MB) and you can use these modules;
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

You can create partitions on the HARD drive using a 3rd party like Partition Magic 8 tool. I use this tool and it's really nice.
After you create 2 or three partitions on the HARD disk, you could install different OS (operating systems).

  • Portege 4000 - how to install the display driver for XP?

    Hi-

I did a clean install of XP Portege 4000. The system has been previously default 98SE.

Noticed that there is a yellow exclamation point in other devices about the video controller (VGA compatible). I downloaded the display on the Toshiba site driver (if it is the right thing?), but can't seem to install. There is no setup.exe to help me.

My XP screen covers only 3/4 or more of the screen total, so that something is wrong somewhere...

    Hello

No, Toshiba don't support Linux or Ubuntu on the Portege 4000 and you can t find drivers for it on the Toshiba page. Only Windows drivers are available.

I m not an expert in Linux, but as far as I know you don t need additional graphic driver for Ubuntu. You should only change the resolution of the screen or something in the settings of the screen. I had the same problem on the first time I used Linux and I could solve it without additional driver but I put t know how I did it :(

    Good bye

  • Portege 4000 running XP Pro SP2, no WPA with Wireless option

    Hello
Can someone let me know if the Portege 4000 Mini wireless adapter supports WPA? I tried the Cisco and Lucent drivers on the Toshiba site with no joy and I am up to date with XP, SP2 etc.. The card works fine with an open wireless link.
    Thank you

    Hi Charlie

AFAIK This oldie, Portege 4000, was equipped with the card Wireless LAN ORiNOCO (Agere).
According to the user manual the Wlan card supports only data encryption Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP short).
So I doubt that the WPA would be available.

Maybe you can switch on an external USB WLan key that supports the ciphers.

  • The driver install Portege 4000 with Windows 2000 Pro

    Hi all.

I'm having a small problem with a reinstall of windows 2000 on my portege p4000. Everything seems to work fine except for the wireless. All drivers are in and there is nothing in Device Manager is listed as unmanned, the wireless client shows the connection to my router, but ipconfig shows that there is no link at all.

If I installed drivers and utilities in the wrong order? I would use my recovery CD, but they are damaged.

Is anyone know the correct order to install drivers or where I can get this information?

  • Satellite L850-13R - internal video card cannot be detected

    Hello guys,.

Two months ago I bought above mentioned model and I have problem with his video card Intel internal - Intel HD 4000. The problem is that it cannot be detected.

Someone with the same model has the same problem?

    Cannot be detected?
According to the specifications of the laptop this model comes without an operating system.
What operating system you have installed?
Have you tried installing the driver from the Toshiba download page?

  • Having a problem getting 2 video cards to work

Windows is having a problem getting 2 video cards to work in a desktop HP dc5800 SFF computer.  The first video card is a nVIDIA GeForce MX 4000 Jaton and the second video card is a VisionTek X 1300.  The two cards are dual monitor.  We strive to give the user 3 screens, but this configuration should be able to output of 4 monitors, if none of the material is in conflict with each other.  The integrated graphical subsystem integrated into the motherboard is disabled whenever a new video card is installed, due to the design of the Intel video chipset.  Any ideas what to try?

    Hi Myextraidentity,

You cannot combine NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards. This configuration is not possible

You can consult with NVIDIA or ATI to learn more about what is needed to support 3 + monitors

  • Can I upgrade the video card in my Pavilion m6-1045dx?

The vehicle currently has graphics Intel HD 4000, but I was wondering if, because it is not as fast as it should to play games like the Sims 3, which could be improved. It is a Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello:

The video card is unable to be upgraded without a complete replacement of the motherboard.

The cost of making such a replacement would likely exceed the cost of trading or selling your laptop and buy one with the desired graphic solution.

Below is the link to the service manual.

Motherboards supported is listed in Chapter 3.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03328663.PDF

Based on the specifications of your laptop, the best video solution is the motherboard with part # 686930-001.

The cost of this motherboard is $447,45.

    Not worth it, IMO.

  • Inspiron 15R SE 7520 video card does not work after update Windows 8.1

The internal graphics are Intel HD 4000 and the graphics card is a Radeon HD M 7730. After update for Windows 8.1 almost everything worked, except that it only uses the integrated Intel graphics card. Now, the resolution is not right and parts of the interface Windows look rather mediocre in comparison.

    What I tried:

    • Uninstalling the video card drivers
    • Reinstall the drivers for the video card in Dell
    • Install the latest beta drivers directly on the AMD website
    • Disabling the integrated Intel graphics card
    • Uninstall the Intel integrated graphics card

    So now what?

    Hi all

After a lot of Googling, got this Dell website which has 8.1 Windows drivers for Inspiron 15R 7520 SE:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/published/pages/Inspiron-15R-se-7520.html#TopSolutions

After having installed the drivers from AMD & Intel HD4000 for Win8.1 on the site above, blurry of the screen disappeared and catalyst works again!

Please spread this link autour!  Very weird representatives Dell did not provide this link. Their advice to uninstall drivers / stop windows update does not help.

  • Problem with the video card Inspiron 7520

    Hi all

Since I installed the 8.1 update windows I have problems with the video card. PC 2 video cards are installed:

    (1) AMD Radeon HD M 7730
    (2) Intel(r) HD Graphics 4000

The main problem is that the resolution of the screen is fuzzy. I downloaded from Dell, the updates for both cards and tried to install, but it does not change Sub. My question is: is there a special procedure to install a driver?

    Thanks to you all!

    HELPPPPPPP!

  • Have I not AMD Radeon HD M 7730 2 GB video card on my new laptop Inspiron 15R?

    Hello

Last week I received the delivery of Dell, with my new Inspiron 15R laptop.

I struggled again to learn how to use Windows 8 more comfortably (to be able to perform the same actions/tasks as in Win XP or Win 7), discovered playing around the Panel, in the section of the graphics card, I was surprised and frightened the driver installed is "Intel Graphics 4000.

I was shocked! I specifically paid for AMD Radeon HD 7730 M 2 GB video card!

I searched on the driver CD that came with the laptop, I found the driver for AMD Radeon video card. I installed it. Then I disabled the driver Intel Graphics 4000.

Windows have complained about this version of the AMD Radeon driver, turn it off and turn it on (and of course installed) driver Intel Graphics 4000!

    Question:

Have I not AMD Radeon HD M 7730 video card in my laptop? Is this a problem of driver on Windows 8, or Dell forgot to put this video card more expensive on my laptop?

Maybe I'll take a look in the BIOS, it should include all hardware components.

I can't believe you posted just your device manager, display the map in question . What the hell was all panic.

I foolishly assumed when you said you looked at graphics cards configuration panel, you mean you couldn't see in the Device Manager.

    Thanks Ejn63

  • Dell inspiron 3521 (i5), how to configure Radeon video card laptop use as main graphics card?

    Hello guys.

IM using Dell inspiron 3521 (version i5 to 1.7 ghz, Radeon HD 7670 M / Intel HD Graphics 4000, 6 GB of ram)

I don't want to use the Intel HD video card at all, because the quality of the texture is so low. I would like to know, how to set up the main video card?

    Its possible?

    Thank you

The 'main' video chip is the Intel one - it's the only one who has a connection to your display board.  The AMD GPU is a co-processor - it can be used (chosen from the AMD Catalyst Control Panel) for the applications you want to use it.

It CAN be made the default GPU - GPU from Intel's wired for this role.  By design, all of the video data through the Intel GPU (which is part of the central unit of system processing).
