Hello

I found a FAQ that explains how to recover a Portege 2000, I think it is related to your laptop :-)

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=port%C3% a9g % c3% a9 & FID = tro0000001721

The FAQ says that you must have the companion disc, it is available at http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com in the Driver download section. Choose your laptop P3110 and Windows98!

Good bye

    Hi storm36,

You must have the Windows XP disk to repair Windows. As the CD/DVD drive is not getting detected, we recommend you try the following steps and check the result.

Step 1: Check if the device is detected in the BIOS (basic input/output device)
    a. start your computer and press on delete key continuously to see the BIOS.
    b. check if the CD/DVD device is detected.
    c. If this isn't the case, then unplug the unit and he reconnected inside the CPU/Tower.
    d. check the result.

Step 2: If the device is detected in the BIOS, try the following steps:
    a. start your computer and boot to the desktop.
    b. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    c. select my computer, click the Action menu and click scan for hardware changes.
    d. check if the CD/DVD device is listed in the list.

Step 3: If the problem persists, restore the computer
see How to restore Windows XP to a previous state .
    b. Once you have restored the computer, check if the CD/DVD drive is visible.

  • Windows 7 upgrade CD-ROM drive

I intend to one of my computers with Windows XP on it upgrade to Windows 7 or even to buy a new computer. I did a check of compatibility on the computer and everything is good for a 32-bit version. My only question is why it tells me there is a free update available for my CD-ROM drive to use it under Windows 7. I clicked on the link where I'd get the update and it took me here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us I have to follow these directions if I upgraded to Windows 7 to use the CD-ROM drive?

    Thank you!

    Hi MicrobitMan,

You use the DVD player to upgrade to Windows 7. The issue of cd-rom only means that your cd-rom drive is not compatible with windows 7 and you will need to download the software directly from the manufacturers Web site.

  • Portege Z930 - new Windows 7 and installing the driver

    I have a Toshiba Portege Z930 Ultrabook.

I don't use it for a while because he was very very slow when navigating or attempt to perform other tasks. I scanned the system with several antivirus (now I have Avast and Fixila, but I also used Kaspersky and Norton) and nothing came.

Now, I decided to reinstall Windows.
So, I received a kit of Windows 7 Pro (it's the license granted with the laptop) and I'm fighting for a week to make it work properly.

Now seems as graphics card does not work, I have most of the hard disk full some old files of windows, etc, etc.

    1. How is the right way to install a new version of windows on this laptop (without the old installation files) and use the accessories available on the laptop (graphics card, fingerprints... tool)

And YES, I tried all THE drivers available on the Toshiba support successfully section only for the wireless card.

    2. have you had problems with the speed?

    Thank you
    Victor

    Hello

    > Now looks like graphics card does not.

Does that mean exactly? Graphics card is recognized correctly in the Device Manager?
In case it is, the driver is installed and works of the GPU.

    What Portege Z930-xxx are you?
The exact part number might be useful to check the specs of the laptop.

By the way: the driver / software installation is not very difficult.
Forget the other Toshiba software if you n t want to install it
    Pick up the pilots only...

However, some parts of the software as a value-added Package must be installed because this package installs a range of important public services.

  • Portege M400: Installtion Windows - cannot install the RAID driver

    Hello world
I installed my original form of the system DVD Toshiba (60 GB partition).
So, I bought the second system with my notebook (Windows XP Pro OEM PL) and I want to install it on my second partition. When installing WinXP installer asked me about RAID driver on drive A: (I USB floppy drive, so it's no problem)... next step - partitioning - no problem. But when Windows starts to copy files (after select and format partition), ask again on RAID driver disk A: - and that is the problem, because my floppy drive is not present (maybe disable it windows after formatting the partition, I don't know)...
    There is also no results:
-J' tried to install Windows on USB HDD, but there are blue screen after the first reboot,.
-J' have tried to compile the RAID driver in driver.cab, this does not (or I did wrong).
Someone has an idea how to install my second system? It is OEM, and I don't want to lose him.
.. Sorry for my poor English :)...

    Hello

After installing the driver RAID you should not make any partition or format the HARD drive.
If you do this, the RAID driver is deleted and you will get an error.

So do all the changes on the HARD disk before you install the RAID driver.

    Hello

Description of errors related to the 10 Code that generates the Device Manager in Windows on computers
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/943104/

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

  • Portege 2000 - new installation using the PCMCIA CD-ROM XP

I try to install XP on Portege 2000 using the official PCMCIA Toshiba CD-ROM drive.

Install the XP disk boots fine, but after that Setup copied the files it blue screen (BSOD blue). I'm not very tech savvy, but I think it means that the BIOS can 'see' the PCMCIA CD-ROM, but that the real image of XP loaded by the installation program cannot, probably due to missing drivers for the PCMCIA CD-ROM?

Then, I thought that maybe I could use F6 to load additional drivers during the initial installation, but it is beyond me to create the right set of files required. I know that you can download the Freecom drivers, but I don't know what are the driver files from CD to use and how to create from scratch the txtsetup.oem file right.

Does anyone know how to properly use F6 and load the drivers for it?

I found a lot of messages suggesting I copy the installer to the HARD disk and launch the installation from there. My problem is that the XP installation is an upgrade CD, so I will ask you at a certain time to insert a previous Windows CD and if at that time there I don't have a working CD-ROM drive...

First post on this forum so be nice - I did a search but not find a thread with a real solution, but of course if I miss a please report!

    Hello

I managed to install Windows XP Home the Portege 2000 using the PCMCIA reader but I ve used recovery disks original Toshiba which includes the correct driver for external optical drive.

So far I tried not to install Windows XP Home edition, using the Microsoft installation disc.

Maybe you should get the disks of facilities and not use this upgrade disk. I think that on this path, you will be able to install WXP as suggested when you copy data from facilities at the disk directly.
Have you tried to get the original recovery disc Toshiba WXP?
