Portege M700 new genuine battery discharge in about 1.5 hours

Releases of my old original battery in 30 minutes and I bought a new original of the authorized dealer of Toshiba in Croatia.

After several days of loading and unloading, the new genuine Toshiba battery discharging 1.5 hours of normal use without turning the voltage of external devices or optical drive.

Specification of Toshiba Portege model indicates that the battery should last about 4 hours.
How can I get the battery replaced when the local dealer said that it cannot guarantee autonomy and the new battery came directly from the authorized distributor of parts Toshiba in Europe?

> After several days of loading and unloading, the new genuine Toshiba battery discharge 1.5 hours of normal use without turning the voltage of external devices or optical drive.

The battery needs to be calibrated correctly. This means that you must load and unload the battery until it s completely empty. This should be repeated several times

In addition, the working hours of battery depends on use notebook use laptop with brightness max or running applications that require performance CPU, GPU and HARD full disc would decrease battery working time.

  • Portege R200 - battery discharging when it is off

Hi bought a Toshiba R200 in Australia about 2-3 months with the standard battery and long battery life. My problem is that even when I turn the machine off of the battery discharges (i.e. it is not hibernating or it is suspended). For example, I left the computer off for 4 days and he did not. When I came back and used the main battery was down to 60%, and the extended battery also fell to about 60% (both were full when I left). It loses about 10% per day. I have never experienced this before in the 5 notebooks dell/toshiba, that I had before.

It may not be my use of the batteries because I rarely use the machine away from its AC adapter. Most batteries have maybe 10 complete charge/discharge cycles since I got it. Also, if I'm not running on battery I get about 7-8 hours of battery life with the main battery and extended (which is normal) so it doesn't seem like "memory effect" of the battery.

I am trying to disconnect the batteries from the computer for a few days check if it is the battery or the computer, however I just wanted to know if anyone has ideas or experiences with this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Believe me it's normal. In my laptop the same thing happened. During the night, there is deficit of 3 5% of the battery capacity. Don t you worry about it. Only what you can do is to do something to maximize the battery life.

For the Nickel metal hydride batteries (NiMH) battery will be better hold a charge if allowed to meet at least once a week. The chemical reactions that correspond to load and unload a rechargeable battery in case to get the maximum number of cycles of charge/discharge of the battery.

It is not necessary to remove the battery from the computer during the week when it is on current alternative.

Google all over the place. You can find lots of useful information on the laptop battery.

On this forum, you can find similar discussions, and many users have reported on this known issue. I just hope you have charged the battery on track as described in s operating manuals.

  • Portege M700 - Speed/standdard for new SSD SATA

    Hello
I would like to by SSD drive for my Toshiba Portege M700-116.

What dish speed SATA can I buy?

    SATA 1.0 (SATA 1.5 Gb/s)
    SATA 2.0 (SATA 3 Gb/s)
    SATA 3.0 (SATA 6 Gb/s)

    Thank you
    Jan

    Hello

I'm not quite sure on the SATA specification, but I think that the Portege M700 m supports SATA II HDD controller.
However, you can install like Sisoft SANDRA hardware diagnostic tools for detailed specifications of controller.

But SATA is backward compatible, which means that even if you want to use a SATA III SSD, SSD drive would be recognized but speed will be limited to the performance of SATA II.

  • Portege M800 new battery - "no battery is detected.

    Hello!

I bought new Toshiba battery original for my M800-107, since man alone has lost half of its capacity. The problem is when I plugged this new battery in Win7 says "No charge, battery connected" and after that "no battery is detected. When I unplug AC, laptop works, but when I plug it again, still no load (no existence of the battery). The Red of the battery charge indicator flashes, when the AC is unplugged, lights when AC is connected. I have tried everything what I found on the internet for this problem, but nothing worked :-(

I also tried Ubuntu to see if Win is the problem, but the same problem occurred.

    I have BIOS v. 5.00.

Do you know any solution? Maybe - new BIOS if there was any news?

  • Portege M700 - DVD drive fails during the recording of discs

    Hello

I tried the Disc Creator that came pre-installed and also Nero 9.2.6.0. All this on Vista 32 bit.

The latter seems to have no idea about the problem, as it says smething like unknown failure.

The creator of disc mentions error code 380381-26-BF040304.

The problem occurs only at the beginning, I tried with three discs, so I don't think that the disks are the problem. In any case, they are DVD + R DL Verbatim and support up to 8 x, while the recorder goes only up to 4 x for the double layer, so I think I'm ok.

My suspicion is that maybe the firmware in the DVD version needs update... He mentions Hw 1.00, 1.10 Fw. Other manufacturers of laptop as offer updated firmware DVD for her, but I couldn't find one of TOSHIBA.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

There are several disks for Portege M700, they are compatible. Usually in the user manual, you can find a list of supported CD/DVD players they are pre-tested by Toshiba and work correctly.

If you have any other questions about a new drive, ask the service provider authorized in your country. They can offer you a compatible player.

  • Portege M700 - protection of HARD drive problem

    Hello world

I searched the net for a full day now try to find answers to this.
Note, I am an accountant and not a computer geek.

I have a laptop Portege M700. I am updating from Vista to Win7.

    Here's the problem:
-Initially tried to uninstall Toshiba HDD Protection via Control Panel and got the message error "internal error 2753 setupftc.exe.
-Then searched the Internet and realized that I had to stop the service first. Note that I does NOT initially stop the service in the Service Manager.
-Now went in the Service Manager to seek Protection of HARD drive and it is not at all.
-Returned east to configuration-Toshiba HDD Protection Panel is listed as a program. It will not always uninstall it... the activiates Assistant uninstaller, and after a few seconds, he simply says the same error message is ' «internal error 2753 setupftc.exe»»

-a search on the internet about this error does no useful result. They underline that the registry cleaner programs. I have NOT installed the registry cleaners.

    - then I went to the registry and created a backup of the registry.
Then tried all the items containing 'HDD Protection' and started deleting them hoping that it would work.
    Then I tried to uninstall.
The computer popped up a message stating that a restart is required.
Tried to restart and got a blue screen.
Then restared in safemode, reloaded the old registry file and VOILA the computer is back to normal again.

    BUT...
I can not even uninstall HDD Protection. Get the same bloody error.

-then downloaded the site Web of TOSHIBA HDD Protection file.
Try to install this file... I get the same error, i.e. "internal error 2753 setuptfc.exe.

Ok.. now, I'm ready to give up.

Really, I didn't wipe my comptuer clean to do a fresh install, because it's such a big hassle. And I'm an accountant, not a computer expert so I don't know what to do for a new installation.
For the time I've wasted on this already, I probably just to find instructions on the net and then made a complete new installation.

All the advice to fix it, pleeeeeeeeeeeease! : ??

    Thank you.

So clean Toshiba HDD protection tool didn't help installation then some registry entries must be screwed to the top.
Believe me, best you can do is to install the OS to aid installation of HARD - disc of recovery http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm recovery mode or use if you have a.
After a clean install of Vista, everything will work correctly, and then you can start with the Win7 upgrade procedure.

    Hi all

When he starts just shows toshiba logo and then it "Please insert system disk and press any key when ready.

I do not have any disk where can I download the iso and then burn it to disc or something like that, I don't know really much about PCs and sorry for my bad English, please help me if someone can

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to download the image of Toshiba.
Where you n t have recovery disc for your model mobile, visit this page to order this disc: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
But I don't very well if you'll be able to order the disc because of the age of the laptop of m

However, the message: insert the disk system is displayed because the system is not installed on the Toshiba Portege laptop, that's why it asks for the disc.

Of course, you can use the clean Microsoft Windows disk to install the system, the essential drivers are available on the page of the driver Toshiba UE Toshiba image is not necessary to reinstall the system, if you are the owner of a MS Windows disc

  • Re: No display on Portege M700

    Hello

My son put his computer bag stuffed with his laptop Toshiba Portege M700 inside his office (just out of warranty).

The laptop shows no sign of injury, but on turn it only "all the right noises", but there is no display on the screen. If the laptop is turned on with the charger connected and then some colored vertical bars appear, and then they fill with white, but nothing else.

We tried to connect an external monitor and pressing Fn + F5 and the vertical bars disappear from the internal screen and it goes totally black, but nothing appears on the external monitor. Pressing Fn + F5 new returns the vertical lines at random on the internal display.

We have also tried to start the laptop in the Mode menu without failure by pressing F8 during the initialization of the laptop, with or without an external monitor, with or without the Fn + F5, but you cannot get any video on the monitor either internal or external.

Fact it seems that maybe a connector was dislodged by the shock of the fall, that you think that the laptop is now pushing up daisies?

    Any notice received with gratitude.

    WIBs

To be honest I n don't know which connector you want to say but there is no pic on external displays to be a serious problem.
It seems impossible to send the video signal via the video out port.

It is not easy to offer an accurate diagnosis on this virtual path.
What do you do now? Try to repair it or what?

Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and ask for verification. They can run diagnostic tools and tell you what is defective, what needs to be replaced and how much it will be cool. Then you can do what to make the decision.

  • Portege Z830 - shortage of battery after installation of Win8

    Hi all
recently I have install windows on my laptop and put 8 to update drivers using the assistant, but I noticed that the battery life has decreased about 7 hours for about 3.5 hours. All the drivers do not work properly and I am using eco mode all the time but I still get a very bad battery life.

    Any ideas?

This difference in very big s battery operation.
Are you sure that you will get 7 hours battery still works if you return to Win7 64 bit?

I did other tests: on my machine Win8 I ve installed Win7 64 bit and there is not much difference in the battery operation. I put t really know what can be the problem.

I hope some other owner Portege Z830 can say something more about it.

  • Battery discharging when NB520 - 10H is off

Looking for help with the battery problem.

When fully charged and then disconnected from the mains, the battery has the good life, a period of about 7-8 hours.
However, if the netbook is so off and remains with the battery overnight, it is quite dead in the morning, even if it was fully charged when it is off.

It is as if something is draining the power even when the computer is completely shut down.
It's really annoying and means I have to take the battery whenever that becomes cumbersome when transporting.
Only to have the net book weeks and apart from that, it's great.

Can anyone help with perhaps a setting that may be wrong or something?

    Hello

It s nothing unusual battery discharging if the laptop is OFF but its strange that the battery loses power in this little time.

In the BIOS Wake up on LAN option may affect the battery but the battery loose usually only 5-10% of the power.
However, go to the BIOS and disable this option.
Save the BIOS and check if that helps.

  • TrueSuite Access Manager on Portege M700 - 13p

Whenever I start my new Portege M700 this program says that the drivers are not installed for the fingerprint reader and t testing install again. Install TrueSuite Access Manager starts and then it asks me to restart my PC. Every time. I'm currently ignoring this but it bothers me.

I can connect with the fingerprint reader, which suggests that the message is bogus.

Recommend a way to solve this problem?

I'm tempted to remove the device from the hardware Manager and uninstall the software, then restart, reinstall the software and then redetect the hardware...

Anyone got a better idea before that I'm wasting my time?

    See you soon,.

    Rob.

I agree with you and I think that the first step, you can try to remove preinstalled software and install the latest version of the Toshiba support page.

  • Satellite L500 19 X battery discharge when not in service

My new and practically unsused portable is its battery at the rate of 10% in 48 hours when it is turned off and not in hibernation mode. To remove the battery is losing 2% within 48 hours.

I fully charged the battery to 100% and closed while still in charge.

There is no doubt in my mind that the battery is discharging when mounted and only lose a small amount of charge when removed from the laptop.

All users have the same problem. The result is that, in a week, the battery will discharge some 35%, what I find unacceptable.

    Hello

I think that's not bad boyfriend
The battery will always be s discharge a little even if the laptop is not running.

Take a look in the user manual.
    I did and found this:

    When you turn off your computer with fully charged batteries, the batteries keep following approximate data periods;

Battery pack 12; 2 days ("sleep mode"); 20 days (shutdown mode)
Battery pack 6. 1 day ("sleep mode"); 10 days (off mode)
Battery pack 3. 0.5 days ("sleep mode"); 5 days (off mode)

Always check the software suite / settings of the bios in order to decrease the discharge of the battery:
-sleep / recovery mode hibernation etc. will reduce the time that the battery is drained considerably
-always check the weather Wake-On-Lan or Wake on HDMI is enabled
-always check the weather USB sleep & charge is activated

  • Satellite Z830-10J battery discharge when the system is shut down

My new Toshiba Satellite Z830 10J ultrabook with Win7 64 bit. all updates, works fine and shows no anomaly, there is however a strange exception.

When the battery is completely charded and I 'pull the plug', the system runs on the battery for sometimes more than 5 hours, so I guess that the cycle of the battery is ok.

When the battery is now fully charged again and I SHUT down the system and not using it for a few days.
Then the battery is completely DISCHARGED to 0%, and the system does not start, until I plug.

This phenomenon occurs in less than a week. So: loading of the batrery 100%, turn the system off, pull the plug, want to re - use the system after 7 days, yields 0% battery charge.

Is there a specific reason for this?

    Greetings

    Roland Schweiger

    > It appears that one of the BIOS settings (disabling the sleep_and_charge or disable WOL) solved the problem

    Great! Thanks for the comments!

  • Portege M700 falls down after upgrading to Windows 7 32 bit

    Dear all,

My portege M700 laptop played most of the reliable time.
However, it was taken very slow sleep after a few iterations of sleep-wake, taking > 5 min.

I have now installed Windows 7 32-bit, which works very well. Has no problem with the release of sleep. However, on 1-2 times per day now, I get a message that Explorer crashed and must restart. About once a week, the system crashes completely with a blue screen of windows (without core). Most of the time, in seconds to the time that the screen freezes, I hear the fan switch on at full speed (much faster that it never runs normally) and the case becomes hot enough.

I installed the latest drivers for 32 bit Windows 7 on the site of Toshiba UK.

Can someone help me to diagnose the cause of these accidents?

    Thank you very much

    Chris.

    Hello

It is difficult to say what might cause this behavior strange system.
But you said something about the hot deal and fans begins to spin faster

It seems that the internal temperature of laptops increases to a higher level.
A higher temperature may affect the RAM modules and this could be the reason why the system hangs and does not answer.

What to say that you should check the Win 7 power management settings.
There are many options that could decrease the performance of the processor and increase the cooling.
In addition, you should check if the cooling fans are free of dust obstructed fans might not run properly and this would increase the temperature as well.

    Hope this helps you
