Possible replacement of SSD - what to disable?

I bring my 2012 MacBook pro SSD checkup/possible replacement.

I have a Time Machine backup, and Super Duper image.

What applications can I disable (if any)... Photographer Adobe CC (2014), perfect photo suite 9, nik collection, many applications of the "Topaz", print the Image are all on my MBP and iMac. Can I disable them? Just in case where the SSD is replaced or deleted?

What about other applications like Dragon Dictate, printing 3 or Vuescan?

I also use Dropbox (my cat LR there is among other things) - I would like to turn off sync with the MBP? Can I remove some Dropbox files?

Thank you...

Tom

If you have a backup of good machine, time, current, known and one clone of Super Duper that you plan to use to restore your Mac and there is no need to disable or disconnect from all Adobe software. You will restore it on the same exact system.

    Hello!

In my opinion, it could also be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. I mean you have tried another drive and the computer laptop doesn t read this disc too.
So for me it sounds like this drive is also defective.

But as Akuma said you should also check the SATA Mode in the BIOS.

I think the best way would be to contact you nearest ASP. They can check a defective hardware for laptop parts and Exchange. If your laptop is under warranty, repairs are free.

  • Replace the SSD 2015 MBP retina

Purchased the base early 2015 retina MBP (was on a real budget) and I'm looking to replace the SSD with a larger SSD.  I read on various forums that this can be done, but that nobody makes compatible SSD yet... However, these positions have been since around about a year ago.  Has this changed?  Is it possible to buy an SSD and replace my existing and if so, where?  Can't seem to find anything on ifixit.com, I saw mentioned OWC.

    Thank you!

Now, there is no replacement for the SSD for Macbook Pro retina 13 or 15 (2015) as Apple use a non-standard interface of its SSD.

The most economical way to clean large SSDS such as 512 GB or 1 TB on the last Macbook pro is to customize your rMBP when you bought from Apple so far.

  • Can I replace the SSD HARD drive in my sve15123cv

    Hello

I use sve15123cv, I want to replace the SSD HARD drive. Is this possible?

    Which SSD is good?

    Hi zunnun,.

Thank you for visiting the Sony community!

It is possible, but we cannot guarantee that it will work without any problem. You need to consider certain things such as the specification of the HARD drive, thickness or dimension of the SSD that you plan to install first. Your Vaio SVE15123CV is a non American model. Unfortunately, we do not have full details and specifications of your machine. However, you can coordinate with the Sony support based on your location or where you bought the device.

For further assistance about your concern, please contact the representative offices of offices/Sony Sony nearest your place of residence in the Asia-Pacific region http://www.sony-asia.com/countryselector.html?hpid=countryselector:AsiaPacific. Hello!

Unfortunately, this feature is only available with the GoPro cameras.

And Yes, if all cables already existing for these purposes, it would be kind of a pain to take pictures and do not shake the camera accidentally. Maybe, VSCO camera makers will make such feature in some time in the future. This idea is excellent and innovative. Maybe even Apple will listen to users and make their new iOS 10.

    Nice tip MichelBParis, thank you.

You don't mention how to get to the last option of conversion and it took me a while to find the menu options in Camera RAW. So I write a page if Judy want to use as well.

I love the ability to save these default Camera Raw settings to automatically apply to multiple images. Who can save a bit of time as well. Then, when you are finished using these parameters. You can reset Camera Raw in the same menu.

  • HP 700-330qe: how to disable or replace the SSD on HP 700-330qe

Help for my HP 5 months! It kills Me!

I bought a HP 700-330qe in 2014 from Amazon and just started getting SMART of Windows hard disk errors whenever my computer restarts, telling me that the hard drive failure is imminent. He also tells me to shut down the computer immediately, save it, contact the manufacturer, etc. Never seen it in any PC I owned before. Naturally, I freaked out and did some internet research, discover that it is relatively easy to clone and replace a hard drive. I ordered a new hard drive Western Digital 3 TB of Amazon, a docking station for disc brand cable hard of Amazonia and downloaded the Macrium Reflect free disk management software.

Items from Amazon arrived in a few days and I got to work making a clone of my one and only hard drive. Clone was made with little problem. Shut down the computer, it opens and replaced the old hard disk with a new one. Start the computer to the top and got the same message on imminent hard drive failure! So I paid more attention to it this time and looked up the model number in the warning message, which was: ScanDisk SDSA6DM - 016 G-1006. I Googled that and found it was the disk solid state drive (SSD) used as a cache to speed up certain operations. Arrgh.

I stuck my old hard drive in the hard drive docking station and was ready to be cloned partition SSD and all partitions on the hard drive to the hard drive and the removal or at least unplug the SSD drive to get rid of this problem. The software told me that the SSD is shaped as MPR (or something like that) while the main hard drive is formatted as GPT, which are different types of hard drive, formatting, so you cannot copy these different types of partitions on a hard drive.

So here's my options as I see them:

    (1) I have to either disable the SSD, but I don't know how and I don't know if the computer will always start the same. Windows is partially installed on SSD? I do not know.

    (2) to clone and replace the DSS about the same way I did with the main hard drive. I can get the SSD according to Amazon for $49: Kingston Digital 60 GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (height of 7mm) with adapter Solid State Drive SV300S37A / 60G.

For the option #2 above, the only problem is that I have no idea where the OEM SSD of ScanDisk is currently installed in my computer! It is in the hard drive cage? I don't see anything else installed there. I thought it was in the cage directly above the hard drive cage, but I think that what I was looking at was the front memory card reader/USB ports. I don't have on CD Player installed and I can see where it is. Help!

PS: I also downloaded EaseUS Partition Master 10.2 and it allows to analyze the SSD drive. While it was scanning it found 9 bad blocks (on tens of thousands of blocks), but when he finished the analysis it says there is a lot of blocks. For this to happen on an SSD, which is supposed to be more reliable than hard disks of small, to make this so much more aggravating situation. At least, I upgraded my hard drive 2 TB to 3 TB and know now that I can do. Sigh.

Yes, I had a frusrtrating very experience with HP customer support, even after it was raised to a case manager based in the United States, who called me home. She found no part at all in its computer system and wanted to send me in my whole PC to a service center customer (it was still under warranty) which would take at least 3 weeks. I said no and went forward and the DSS out of my computer. I stopped receiveing the error messages and did not notice a slow down in performance, but went ahead and bought and installed this one, just in case it actually provides an advantage: My Digital 32 GB SSD Bullet Proof (on Amazon for $25).

As a note to end funny to this drama, about 6 months after my discussion with HP support I describe above, I have randomly mailed an envelope of HP with the exact 16 GB SSD, they said that they didn't in their system. It also included an envelope to return my faulty SSD and a stern note saying if they do not receive the defective item within 3 days my credit card (that I never gave them) would be charged. I threw a long time ago the defective item and just throw it back into a drawer... or maybe that I returned it in the envelope for return of defective product? I don't remember really.

In any case, it was a horrible customer service experience, and since then I have another HP Envy (my PC 3 year to my son) have a hard drive and video card fail at the same time. I replaced the two after a few problems, but no matter what I do, it can get its setup dual monitor want to work more. I tried several video cards and nothing.

All of these factors combined caused me write off HP for the future PC purchases. The guys in my company IT say it's the reason why we only buy Dell computers at work (we have hundreds of maintain). They do not use strange pieces like these small SSD cache records, and their parts are standard and easy to replace because of the case. I'll either get a Dell or ASUS as my next PC.

  • HP Envy 14 A9P67UA spectrum #ABA: Add (or replace) mSATA SSD to the HP Envy 14 spectrum w/windows 10... possible? Worth the risk?

    Hi all!

So, I read in this forum on this subject and have seen mixed results.  I bought this computer a few years ago, generally pretty happy with it but I ran out of space and the battery is dying.  I am trying to decide whether to revise it or buy new.   That's what I want to do:

Add 2nd mSATA SSD in the second slot.  I saw a post like this HD is compatible but that's a post.  Around, I've read that others have had problems by adding a second SSD.  Some people can not access, some people, it shows only a 128 GB extra, in fact, some have a BSOD.   The post I saw replaced the original disc to help one of them and adding a second drive so the two HDs were of the same brand.  Is it a better idea?  Also, all the posts I've seen on this topic were two years old and dealt with Windows 7.  Windows 10 it will make it harder to do?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-850-mSATA-2-inch-MZ-M5E1T0BW/DP/B00TGIVRYU?ie=UTF8&PSC=1&redirect=true...

If not I can try and use the same car with the model came in the second slot to help in possible compatibility issues, but I would be limited to a 128 GB extra (or possibly 256?).

I have also upgraded the memory of 8 GB and add a new battery.

Reflections on what is successful? I wouldn't waste money on these parts if this is going to work.  Thank you!

    Hi @cdmdds,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand from your posts that you are having a problem with your Notebook SPECTRUM HP ENVY 14 - 3010NR and needing some updates. This system supports 8 GB (8192 × 1) of the maximum of memory RAM and 256 GB (128 GB × 2) Page 34 of the repair. The battery information on page 32.

This would be due to the limit with the processor.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this post as accept as Solution, this will help others easily find the information they seek.

  • Accidentally deleted a dynamic link library (DLL) file and the need to replace one possibly other system files - what is the best method?

I did a system restore to a point before that my main user account has been established.  I had to set up a new user, and then it was suggested that to copy all the data of the user "existing" to the newly created user.  When I did this it's not well at all and some DLL files have been corrupted or deleted or not connecting correctly to the user of your choice.  I actually then did a restore of the system to the last restore point.  However, given that SR does not change the data, I was stuck with the wrong DLL and other system files.  I thought I had stupid test because I had backed up data.  I tried to restore to an earlier point (using Windows backup and restore).  Unfortunately the restore will not work and I get the following error: "a systematic failure of the initialization of the Dynamic Link Library (DLL).  I need to repair or replace the corrupt to get the system back and then protected files again.  I'd appreciate any help!

    Thank you

In the case that he is a protected system file, you can check if you can always run the System File Checker

You can boot from a system repair disc to retrieve an image from the previous system that you have made.

  • Possible to replace an SSD with a HARD drive?

I am currently working on HP Mini 1030nr a friend.  It was sold with a 16 GB SSD and now the operating system broke down.  We decided to go ahead and upgrade to Windows 7, however, the SSD is too small.  I'd rather not go and spend $100 and more on an SSD to replace this one.  I'm able to go out with a HARD drive instead?  16 gb is hardly anything.

Well, after having read little more on it and opening it up, I discovered that although it CAN be exchanged with a HARD disk, it cannot have a 1.8-inch HARD drive.  I have more of a problem to find these tiny hard drives at a reasonable price.  So, Yes, you can use a HARD drive, but it's almost better just pay the bucks for a new SSD to go through the trouble to obtain one of these mini things.

  • Replacement of SSD on Portege R600

I R600-10 X with 128 GB SSD and I wanted to replace it with fast/more larger drive, but on the inside rather than the SATA drive, I found ZIF40 by car. Even as this pic that someone else posted: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3953/portegessd.jpg

Is it possible to have a new SSD SATA as Intel 320 connected to this laptop? There are a lot of suggestions in the forums what does R600 support SATA SSD, but nobody clearly confirmed it.

    Any information appreciated.

    Hello

    > is here a lot more suggestions in the forums that R600 does support SATA SSD

The Portégé R600 - 10 X was equipped with an SSD SATA drive so I put t understand why someone said that R600 does not support SSDS

Holders for laptop SATA interface that is why you must use SSD/HDD that supports the same SATA interface some if SSDS requires an update of the firmware, but it must be fitted by the manufacturers of SSDS

  • Replace HDD SSD Lenovo Y500 Guide?

Hello everyone I'm going to keep it is as simple as possible. I would trade my HDD in my Lenovo Y500 with a 1 TB SSD. My Y500 has the 16 GB of cache if that helps. I think it's a 2.5 "HDD but what kind. What is an mSata or Sata?

The physical installation, I can do easily, but what is the best way to backup and transfer things to the SSD?

I'm pretty decent with computers and I have some knowledge on this operation. I would like to transfer all my SSD HARD drive this includes the OS(windows 8) and all the other necessary components. I would do it with a DVDR that is 4.6 GB I think. It's a brand new computer, so I have no files, docs etc that I have to worry.

Please can someone answer my questions I would really appreciate the help of the community.

Please post a guide step by step for me and others to use!

    Thanks a ton

I found it easier to use an mSATA replacing the 16 GB one with a 256 GB SSD version. It runs at 6 Gbps.

Windows 8, I have installed from a copy retail DVD instead of imaging on the 1 TB drive. The activation key for Windows 8 is built in your bios. Windows automatically detected 8 mine installed without asking for it and active without problem.

  • HP ENVY 15-k009ne: replacement of SSD for ENVY 15-k009ne

    Hey there everyone.

I would like to know if it is possible to replace the hard drive installed SSD (8 GB) on my Hp envy 15-k009ne. The problem is that he is very much in quality and appear to be limited to the default files of hp. I have a few questions:

    1. is it possible to replace? If not, is it possible to replace the other hard drive (1 TB, 5400 RPM)?

    2. What size (actual size and capacity, I mean) or number/model should I buy?

    Thank you.

PS sorry if this is a recurring question. I must be sure before that I could buy another SSD drive which is quite expensive!

The specifications of your laptop do not indicate that you have an SSD. You may have a hybrid drive that has a cache of flash 8 GB built-in player for faster access, but this isn't a separate volume that holds its own files, just a different part of the reader. HP sold never, to my knowledge, laptops with an 8 GB SSD. You probably also a HP recovery partition on your hard drive. According to the specifications, the hard drive only your machine is a 1 to 5400 RPM mechanical hard drive standard.

See p. 66 of the manual here:

    Manual

Unfortunately, access to the hard drive Bay is very difficult and forbidden to an end user. In other words, it will jeopardize the warranty. If you are past the warranty and want to remedy let us know. You can replace the mechanical drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and your laptop will be much faster if you do. There is also a slot of the WSSD m2 on the laptop, to complicate things more, but use it to add a SSD and boot of it is even more difficult. Have any kind of SSD in laptop computer that is not the boot drive make not much sense. However, if you want to explore the option of WSSD m2 we are here to help.
