  • A potential loss scenario

Hello world. Thank you in advanced for your time.

What I'm trying to understand is this hypothetical scenario.

I have a s 6 of the iPhone with the most updated to iOS version.

I find my iPhone is turned on.

I have a defined authentication code.

    I put on location Services.

I have the control center hidden when the iPhone is locked.

I lose my device at the Mall. Someone finds it and quickly notice there is a) any identifyable as my name info can. (b) the phone is password locked. (c) I'm nowhere in sight and probably do not know I lost it or do and have no idea where.

At this point, the finder has good or bad intentions.

Good... I have a chance. Bad intnentions, phone gets probably turned off and chances got thinner.

I want to first focus on the good finder.

They take my phone with them because, as many good intentions finders, they are afraid of the return exceeds any member of questionable personnel, they may keep it for themselves. So they take the tasks themselves.

Battery dies on them and they do not have an Apple device and therefore not (yet) charger. Or maybe it was actually left on the roof of my car and the broken screen and can not be read.

They go to an Apple store, is summoned to give it to law enforcement (Finder believes that, "Yes, they will get right on it.")

In the meantime, I try to use Find My iPhone app and freaked out about what to do. Put lost Mode, send a Message, followed by its location and perhaps even given to erase distance etc. But my phone is off and nothing can really take place in any case for this reason.

Time passes. I need my phone for personal and professional reasons.

How long should I wait before I take serious acts as the caller my carrier and report lost/stolen and then pulling my pocket book or by calling my insurance?

Let's say that I give a week that we all know is eternity. Meanwhile, the finder's ad on CL they found my phone completely unbeknownst to me. They went to Apple and the police station and have not given up on me still.

But I give in and suspend my service with Verizon and BAMMM, I kill my cellular data connection.

NOW, the network connection based on everything I have read and understood, a "known" wifi is my only hope if this phone is able to load and turned back on... that active things with, I found my iPhone right?

    Here are the important questions:

-What exactly is the scope of networks wifi "known"? They are not just networks I joined physically, but also wifi phone networks comes in contact with who are not locked and not me necessarily to accept its use as a Starbucks?

-How this detector can help get my device on a network that is known when they cannot get in it to do?

There's a part of what Apple is talking about here (on privacy and location - Apple Support Services) that contributes to the situation and the finder on my iPhone?

-Are there applications that take advantage of the hardware of the iPhone and the software better than Apple does?

    D ' other thoughts?

Thanks for making it through all these words!

First of all, to find my iPhone work correctly, the following must occur. The device must have find my iPhone activated prior to the loss, the device must be turned on and have enough power, and the device must have an active connection to the internet, cell phones or wi - fi. If none of these things are not in place, then you can not follow the device.

In this context, to answer your questions:

Known wi - fi networks are those that you connected to in the past. It may be those that you have the password registered for, or public wi - fi you have agreed to sign in the past. IPhone will not connect, even to a WiFi unprotected, if you have not agreed to join her in the past.

There is no way for the person to agree to your device to connect to a wi - fi network if you have not agreed to it in the past, since they cannot access the device to agree to join.

Your location service must were lit before the disaster, and it is automatic to find my iPhone If you have enabled.

There are no applications to help you locate your device, and other applications are not accessible outside the iPhone and then be able to follow the iPhone. While you can connect to www.icloud.com on the computer, it is only if your device is connected as in what I described at the beginning.

  • Estimate of loss of data in GG

    Hi all

As GG is the async, how could estimate the potential loss of data?

    1. is it possible to estimate the maximum data loss when using GG? Is it only delimited the network?
    2. What is the default time for the synchronization interval? Is - this configurable?
    3. to cite this as an example:
-There are 5 transactions (for example, the update statement) production transfer to backup DB
T (time) = 1, the first transfer of transaction started to backup DB, then t = 2 for the second operation and so on.
-Due to the reason for the network, 3rd transaction is not given to save. On the other hand, the 4th and last transaction already get backup DB
-My question is: will the 4th and last transaction waiting for update in the backup until the 3rd transaction is updated to backup DB?

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards
    M.T.

Depends on how configure you it. I never lost ANY data using goldengate

The latency of the network depends on what you throw at the target and how much it can take... If you have too much data through replication, you can add moer than a replicat process and force them to work in harmony to play tracks.

In addition, what you're saying... for a reason update 3 can't? What is c? If he agrees then gg will be extracted from redo log and send over the network.

Im not to follow what you ask, Mr President. Please explain yourself.

If configured properly, you won't lose any data.

  • Is it possible to restore without losing my passwords, settings and especially favorite?

Recently, my computer has been infected with a malware that has removed some DLLs and damaged the Firefox, Opera and Google programs.

The other two browsers I reinstalled without any problem. But Firefox is my main browser and I'm afraid of losing all my information.

Is it possible to restore without losing my passwords, settings and especially favorite?

You can check if the Firefox profile folder is always present.

If that's the case then Firefox will automatically detect its presence and use.

You should regularly make a backup of your personal data stored in the Firefox profile folder in order to avoid a potential loss in case of problems.

  • delete the partition after a failed installation of windows 10

    Hello world

How is it possible to delete partitions, if in disk utility, there is no possibility to click on the '-' key?

So I made a failure (several) attempts to install windows 10 on my new iMAC.

I could download an ISO of windows and start the bootcamp assistant.

In the last attempt of last night, I selected the bootcamp in windows installation partition, however, installing windows said it was impossible to read the hard drive.

I then re-formatted this partition (BOOTCAMP) in the installation of windows, and after that, still could not read.

Then, I deleted the bootcamp partition in windows and re-created a partition on "unallocated space" in the windows installation.

Installing windows 10 still wouldn't move forward then I've bailed out and went back to OS X with the hope of turning it back on (again) by deleting partitions.

I was unable to delete the Mac partition.

Then, I deleted this partition (the one original bootcamp) and reformatted as OS x journaled. At least now, I can see the Partition.

However in Diskutil, I was then impossible to delete this Partition. There is also a small partition 16 MB that cannot be erased.

Wizard bootcamp will be past a pop up station: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

So I will now try to delete these partitions (the boy and the training camp original one) merge into the original and give then installing bootcamp, another go when I have a lot of energy!

any help would be appreciated. I'm a little cautious to use Terminal command lines for fear of ruining my new computer.

  • Windows will not be displayed! Help ASAP!

So about 2 weeks ago I used bootcamp to partition and installed Windows 7 and then upgraded to Windows 10. I downloaded the software, but now the 300 gigabytes of storage isn't enough so I made the smaller partition for OS X El Capitan. So I reboot so I can do the biggest Windows partition, but it shows then in a kind of MS-DOS format "No bootable disc - insert the floppy disk, and then press any key" or something like that I like "Ok, I'll just reboot and hold down the ALT key so that the screen appears, but it shows that Mac HD and no TRAINING camp." Please, I have a lot of important data on that partition.

It is not officially supported - Boot Camp: resize the Windows partition .

  • Windows 7 32 bit does not start after the installation of the need for assistance

I have an iMac 21.5 inches (mid-2011) with 8 GB Ram, 2 TB SSHD, new HL-DT-ST DVD - RW GA32N and tried to install windows 7 (32 bit) on using Boot Camp Assistant.

I already downloaded and copied software 4.0.4033.zip Boot Camp here-> https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630?locale=en_US for my 16 GB Pen Drive MS-DOS (FAT32)

The installation was successful, and windows 7 loads just fine 1st time, I created UserID and password, settings etc... using the apple keyboard then installed the drivers from apple on this issue of my 16 GB USB key. Seems my Magic Mouse works but my keyboard is not detected

Then I tried to restart so the changes would come into force, and since then my Windows will not start or run Windows 7

Now if I start my iMac hold down the Option key, I get Macintosh HDD, windows, recovery 10.11.4 and DVD. If I select Windows or Windows DVD it starts Booting then black screen followed by this Message on the screen «Press a key to boot from the CD or DVD...» »

If I press any button it starts booting from DVD and gives me the option to install Windows and if I do not press a button some then nothing happens

Windows does not start a BootCamp HDD and I'm left with no option but to press on the button / stop to stop iMac.

Fortunately my El Capitan works well, but my Windows will not start. I tried 2 times install windows 7 32 Bit on my BootCamp HDD.

So any help, I do not understand what am I'm doing wrong, I would be really grateful if someone who knew bootcamp can guide me so that I can run Windows OSX on my iMac.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Bootcamp for repair after changing partitions in El Capitan

(For a better format version, please visit this link.) I did have luck with answers on itself)

I wanted to create a shared partition that I could access between my install Bootcamp and OS X I have been on Yosemite and utility disk would allow me to resize or create new partitions, but I heard that I could do it by upgrading to El Capitan.

It worked well, I could reduce my OSX partition and create a new partition with the remaining space, however, when I try to start directly in my bootcamp partition running Windows 8.1, I now get an error:

Your PC needs to be repaired

    An unexpected error has occurred.

    Error code: 0xc000000e

According to some messages that I found, this may indicate that the hybrid MBR is damaged and needs to be recreated, so I tried this by following this link.

I also tried to boot into a Windows and running recovery disk

    bootrec /rebuildbcd

but it does not work. It returns

The requested system device cannot be found.

So, looks like it has something to do with my EFI partition, because according to other messages, maybe I need to assign a drive letter to the EFI partition, but it does not appear when I use diskpart. I see the output similar to:

    > list vol

Volume ### Ltr Label        Fs  Type      Size    Status

    ---------- --- ------------ ----- --------- -------- ----------

    Volume 0 E IRV_CCSA_X6      UDF  DVD-ROM  4120 MB  Healthy

Volume 1 C BOOTCAMP        NTFS  Partition 93 GB    Healthy

    Volume 2 D Removable                        0 B      No Media

However, I think that's because I see when I run diskutil in OS x:

    $ diskutil list

    /dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

     #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

I even tried refined, that doesn't seem to change anything.

Another note, my Windows partition is fine, because I can always start using Parallels, just a direct start in Bootcamp is not.

I am quite confused where to go from here. Nothing seems to work and I've tried several dozen approaches with no luck. How can I fix Bootcamp?

Article Nerder is one of the worst possible solutions and causes more data loss. It also provides a clear warning. Can you post the output of the following OS X Terminal commands?

  • Is it possible to manually reassign a BSD name on a disc?

    Hi all

I'm running a dual-boot configuration (via Bootcamp) and after initially all set up, had to temporarily set up another partition on the hard drive with my OS X and Windows/Bootcamp partition. Do seem so have reassigned my Bootcamp partition to disk0s4 which means that it now can not be started. My question is this, is there any way by which you can manually reassign BSD names of drives and partitions? I'm pretty comfortable in the terminal so muck out there duty to do would not get me out of any solution that required that. I'm really just hoping it a bit more 'elegent' one available alternative to get rid of the Bootcamp partition and start over from scratch with everything.

    Thank you.

If your MBP is before 2012, or if you run a BIOS/MBR Windows installation, create a new partition on the side of TPG, causes the GPT and MBR as out-of-sync. This causes Windows startup problems. Of the disc BSD is relevant on the side of the OS X. Windows is just the MBR to fix.

  • Lack of HARD disk space

    Hello!

I have a model of Mac Mini end of 2012. My HARD drive supports 500GB and did it when I got it. Around last year, I tried to use Bootcamp to have 250 GB Windows partition and my Macintosh HD partition of 250 GB. The problem is that it has not worked and Bootcamp almost destroyed my computer everything. So, I reinstalled my whole system. Unfortunately, after that I went to mode of recovery and reinstalled OSX, I was left with only 250GB on my mac. The windows partition did not exist, and it's an empty space that I couldn't add to my Macintosh HD. I was fine with 250 GB but, however, later that yesterday I got 10 Windows successfully on my bootcamp! But I can only give him 80 GB I need the other 170 GB to my Macintosh HD! The windows partition needs more of! What should I do? I want all of the 500 GB back. I put a screenshot. It seems stupid how 250 GB is just sitting there and is not available after reinstalling OS X or now. So, to summarize, I lost 250 GB my HARD drive and I don't know where it is or how to get it back. Last time I reinstalled OS X, he has done nothing. I really want to reinstall OS X or Windows, because it took me hours to all well put together. I also bought own it would be a hassle to reinstall the applications.
