Potential scam from AdobeFlashPlayer_18_a

A potential scam from AdobeFlashPlayer_18_a - was asked by Adobe to download this file twice - the last time this morning.  The first file has a file of the June 1 date.  The second file has a date of June 30.  The DMG (I use a Mac) file names are the same.  Installation this morning was Adobe logos in dark red.  It's a scam, and Adobe has suffered a security breach?  Your urgent response would be appreciated.

Hi dc72282719,

Please goto - Flash Player Help, click check now and please confirm that the version of Flash Player is 18.0.0.203. In addition, Adobe has made some rebranding of all its products including Flash Player and now you see a dark brown Logo instead of the old red, one, please visit Adobe Flash Player install for all versions and you will also find the new logo of the Flash Player.

Thank you

  • Scam or potential fraud from Microsoft

I think I have been targeted for fraud today.  I received a phone call from a man with an Indian accent who said he was with Microsoft.  He called because my computer had sent Microsoft a lot of messages about a virus in my computer.  The virus is very active; However, it could not be removed by Essentials.  He said that it was imperative to that upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate for the discounted price of $150 immediately to make sure that my computer has not crashed.

Is this kind of contact action legitimate Microsoft?  I refused to buy the upgrade.  If it of a scam or fraud, I'll help Microsoft with any information I can.

  • Potential scam

I received an unsolicited robocall, in a female voice, offering help with my purchase of Dell 'recent' and called the number. After waiting for several minutes on hold, a man with an Indian accent said he was doing a service call on my computer, bought last year.

After I asked her name - Henry Dell - so I could report it correctly to the United States * general, calmly, he said, insisting he was merely a service call and asked if he could move forward.  I told him that I would write down the steps, he has provided.  He gave me the steps to run MSCONFIG and check to see if there is available a certain 'enable '.  If this isn't the case, I was to call again for additional instructions.

Henry Dell phone number is 844-248-6949.  Any comments you can give would be appreciated...

  • INSIDE JOB "DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT" BASED IN INDIA HAS A SCAM

    Hello

I am writing because I was the victim of what I believe, it's a "Dell inside job" in this scam of technical support for users of computers Dell off warranty or expired support based in INDIA. I've been a customer of DELL since 2003, was always the best technology support without problem, even when I called once about 7 years ago they cleaned up my computer for $49.00 which was ok with me without any problem. I bought an all in one computer in 2012, with 3 years of support. My problem started when I called DELL April 2016 of course didn't help because my computer was not covered, they wanted me to pay $89.00 a service of time, at this time there what I wanted was to get my computer to windows 8.1, I wasn't happy with 10, my computer was working fine. A week later, I started getting calls from ladies with Hindu accent claiming to be from Dell who want to help me fix my computer. I was always busy, and I told them that I not had time to seat 2 hours to do. They called it forth, until the day exactly a 29/08/16 months ago, I had the time to fix my computer slow and accepted their offer. He gave his guarantee Id # DELL9929 its name: Eric Thomas with a Hindu accent, I asked him: are you really from Dell? He reassured me that it was, they were getting signals from my computer that something was wrong. I thought because my computer after this call in April started to have more and more slow. He wanted to have access to my computer which is the only way they can fix it, I gave him access he installed an internet to analyze and clean security program call them KAPERSKY, he began to clear the files etc. According to him clean my computer. I made it clear I was not buying anything, he said no worries we do it because we have too many alerts to your computer. He told me he was going to monitor my computer for a week that he will call me Monday. I didn't go on my bank account or check e-mails because I felt that they looked at me, but instead of Monday he called me on Friday, so I told her that I don't have confidence in him. As soon as I hung up to 02/09/16 I called said Dell TECH SUPPORT what happened, to my great surprise this Hindu guy named Muthu Chidambaram Service Request: 935549938 has acted as he was aware of the scam, told me he's going to clean my computer for $89.00 service time or $239.00 per year. He also told me that I needed better security that he had one that was best for $249.99. I paid the $89.00 did not buy anything, but when I went to the Dell website to find a security software they had some for as low as $14,99 as it was the labor day weekend. I wonder why he tried to sell me one so expensive? As soon as I suspended with DELL, I went into my email to find that I had been charged by PayPal $450,00 leave DEN SUPPORT, called 801-829-7424 # imposter ask my money back either. PayPal and my Bank got my money, but it does not stop there. Why do I say is an inside job? 5 days after calling DELL TECH taking charge on 02/09/16, once again I received a call to a different number I gave only Muthu to contact me in case we were disconnected my phone Earth when it was fix my computer, the guy also Hindu told me exactly the same thing others had said in so many calls : They received signals. After you fix my computer Muthu asked me to respond to his email if I had more problems with my computer. My computer started acting again when I answered by Muthu email because I need help, he never responded, but when I called the 09/09/16 DELL SUPPORT because my computer was not at beginning, they wanted me to pay again, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, Rajeev (name of Tech) told me I had to pay $39.00 to talk to a supervisor which is something that I have never heard in my life, dealing with many companies. I was upset and told him they were running a scam, an inside job of the technical support because everyone involved was based in India, I told Rajeev history and he said that I was going to go further. 13/09/16, I got a call from DELL, a supervisor called Hindu Dave too, not too sweet. I told him about the scam from inside DELL, suddenly, he said: "I can refund your $89.00, you can call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT so they can fix your computer". I got the $89.00. My computer does not work. I'm afraid to call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT because they do the same thing again, their scam's with Dell Support off users guaranteed because they can make money in this way. I think they get a bonus if they sell us more, so our computer will never work as they should, because they want to keep us reminded. If we fall into their trap, like I did, you call DELL to fix our computer every time. A SCAM. They have our computer tag #, all of our personal information. Scary. I think the enamel of Muthu, I answered, was something that has infected my computer. Long story, but true.

Read thisand follow the link to report your problem to Dell for investigation.

  • How can I transfer all the emails from the old hard drive to a new hard drive, Windows 7

This transfer of e-mail has some quirk to it.  I am running Windows 7 Professional on a concert of 150 old drive raptor WD with Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.  I'll be installing Windows 7 Professional on the new drive and running Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird and the need to pass all the information the browser and e-mails (with folders) to the appropriate place on the new drive.  I will use the same Windows 7 Professional disk for the operating system on the new drive, and then the old drive will be trashed as soon as the transfer is completed.  What is the best way to transfer the data since I use two different browsers and e-mail clients?  Do I first transfer all on the same type of browser and e-mail on the new disk and then import in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, or can I do a direct transfer to them?

    Hey there James :)

If your original WD Raptor drive is in good health, have you considered cloning it to the new drive and so keeping everything as it is without the need to reinstall and backup and restore your data to the e-mail and other applications? I suggest to check out Acronis True Image WD Edition for this procedure: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=st8xw8
I would first of all check if the drive is healthy, as the procedure could transfer some potential errors from the old drive to the new. I would recommend running tool WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic to check the status of the WD Raptor drive. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=p7VtBy

After the back if you have any questions!

Put the KB numbers in the search at the above link > download them manually.

    My answer

[...] However, the problem is not not downloading, but it's the installation later. Some return immediately with a failed installation (80070003) and others fail to install after the required reboot of Vista (8007371C).

A repair install is the usual solution of SFC/scannow does not work.
However, a repair (AKA In-Place Upgrade) installation will be not solve the problem if it is due to a hijackware infection.

If you don't know how to do a repair install, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044
Method 2 (do not hold account of the article refers to the error code, I only use it as an example of how repair installation).

NB: If you have installed SP1 or SP2 for Vista

Step 7 (method for Windows Vista), the * UPGRADE option is not available because Service Pack/s are installed and that your operating system is newer than the system you are trying to reinstall, so service pack/s must be removed in this case.

  • TV on my computer

I would like to connect my TV to my computer. I have a pc connector on my TV I VISTA]

    Hello

There are two main options that I see in the connection of your television to the computer. One is a hardware solution by getting a TV tuner card, the second would be a software solution by using your internet connection (this should be a high speed / broad effective solution of the band) to stream TV on your PC.  Each of these types has its own unique advantages.

    Hardware solutions (TV Tuner):

Let's start with the hardware solution as you mentioned that you have a PC connector on your TV and it sounds as if you were curious about the direct connection method. Examination of the main material here is the tuner TV for your PC card.  An example of a vendor for this would be here: http://www.hauppauge.com/ . I don't know what "PC connector' you speak precisely, but in this case study is to ensure that you have the right connection from your TV on your PC. There are several types of connections that could potentially work from your TV for PC: coaxial, RCA, S-video and VGA are some of the most common. One of the connection more interesting types on the site mentioned would be a device that converts a signal from coaxial cable to the TV in a USB device which can then be plugged into your computer. One of the benefits of a hardware connection TV is the ability to record live TV, and the software for this feature is often included with the TV tuner.

Solutions software (Streaming and porn TV on broadband):

Software solutions can be very economical because it piggy back on your existing broadband connection. Another advantage would be that the shows can be listened to on request.

Prices can be as low as free, one example being http://www.Hulu.com/ where you can listen to the full episodes of television through a license agreement between the content providers and Hulu.

An example of a subscription model would be http://www.yourfreetelevision.com/ , which is about $30 every month.

So, there are a few options and this should certainly point you in the right direction. Hope this helps,

  • "Dell Backup and Recovery" asking the upgrade with the inspiron 15 model

    Hello

I'm new to this forum and also started to use the Dell laptop. I bought Dell Inspiron 15 (model 3521) 01-Jan-2014. I am trying to take backup of my laptop on a DVD. When I clicked on 'Backup and restore of Dell' app in app Manager. I try to click on backup system option 'Dell backup and recovery' section, its upgrade premium or enter key. Its not that allows to create backup DVDs.

What may be the issue? Because when I bought it, seller said that his original one.

It's part a scam from Dell.  I've got 5 Dell portable computers/computers / tables all have this software on it with a VERY limited useage then weekly or if I get a pop window op offering the upgrade at a special price which, in the end, is the same price as if you would have just bought or 'improved' (like Dell likes to call it) the program to a regular price which IS : 39.99.

What I hate about businesses, in particular, the one that I spend a lot of money with it, is when they think they can put a quick access on me or in my case 5 times that I have 5 of these upgrade special offer windows popping up each week.

You're better off getting programs like Goodsync which will back up your computer or synchronize your files on an external hard drive, and that you can use on all of your computers for only $29.99.  I use it on my servers and my offices.

Otherwise good luck with Dell and their implementation to special day called 'offer' that is the price of retail, after all.  NOT COOL DELL ALL!
