power cable 4-pin internal for a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n

I just installed a USB 3.0 card which needs a 4 connector pins for power. There are several connectors which are white and numbered P1, P2, P3, etc. and so forth. From what I can tell, they resemble power wires to the other devices on the computer (DVD. There is a double connector coming out of them to be used for the power supply to the USB card. I think correctly? There is a power cord two USB2 plugins on the front of the computer who probably will not be used anymore. Can I steal power of this connector? Thank you

If you had mentioned the map accurate usb 3.0 (by name), a definitive answer would have been returned. Connectors 4 pin would be a four pin peripheral or the old floppy power plug. Here is a page that describes them.

  • Video card (and others) upgrades for a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-510 t

Hello... First of all, I just want to say that these forums have been an invaluable resource for me in my quest to upgrade my current PC. A lot of good answers and always at the top of the Google search results, you guys have been so super helpful. Without a doubt a very different experience from what I got when I bought my PC from a company that rhymes with 'hell '.

I have a few specific questions, however, and thought I'd throw them to let experts weigh... For the record, I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t with all parts except for the video card, which is currently an ATI over-pants v4800. I am running three monitors 20 "(1 DVI and Display Port 2 at present, but who can be flexible). Also, I don't a few moderate games (FPS, MMO) and watch a lot of Netflix...

    1. I'm certainly looking to update my video card, but I do not know what actually fits. I'm ready to upgrade the PSU as well (probably to the Corsair CX-600 recommended elsewhere on this forum), so power should not be a problem. And money is not a huge problem either, as long as the card is less than $500 or more. I've been watching some of the newer cards (like a 680 GTX or even the new 770), but I'm afraid that they will not physically fit in the case, or will be not compatible with the motherboard (which seems to be the PCIe 1.0? Or I read wrong?). So basically, my ultimate question is: what is the best possible graphics card given my case current and potentially put to level power supply, motherboard, I could use? If it's important, SLI is feasible but not more.

    2. I also intend to add additional RAM. The page on the card to my PC to the HP support Site says it takes DDR3 1600 PC3 10600, but everything that I find these days in the RAM is DDR 3 1600 PC3 12800. My mother/PC card will support the 12800 or do I have to keep hunting to find 10600 sticks?

    3. and finally, I'll also put in a Pro 840 Samsung SSD. Do you know if the motherboard compatible with the SATA connectors suitable for speeds of 6 GB? Just plug page says "SATA" and does not specify a version.

Any help you could give me on these questions would be greatly appreciated. This computer has served me well for a few years now, and I'm hoping to keep it for a few more years. Thanks in advance and have a nice day...

Here are the specifications of plant origin and configurable options for your desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t CTO and here are the specs of his card mother IPISB-CH (Cleveland). According to the specifications, the motherboard uses the Chipset Intel H67 Express that supports an extension v2.0 x 16 PCIe and 3Gbs SATAII (SATA2).

    (1) SLI is not "feasible", so no need to go there. GeForce GTX 680 cards are going to be long, perhaps too long. You need to measure the space available at the back of the case more further along the x 16 PCIe slot to determine what can be installed. You will need to resign it a notch or two... until you find one that matches. The CX600 Corsair is a great choice and fits, even if you can buy the place CX600M. The CX600M is modular and allows much better management of the cables and so the potential for a better air circulation.

    (2) with regard to memory, the State of the plug;

    Four DIMM DDR3 240-pin connectors
    Supports the PC3 10600 connectors DIMM DDR3 (1333 MHz)
    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered

Then, two sets of most of these (2 x 4 GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Kits should do the trick. You can also go to the website Crucial.com and use two of their 'guaranteed compatible memory upgrade'.

    (3) your computer supports speeds SATAII (3Gbs) and this is the best it will do. However, the SATA connector is identical to what is found on a SSD SATAIII and it should be compatible with your computer.

  • Request help second addition, internal hard drive [HP Pavilion Elite e9290f]

    Hello

Quick question here. I am a music producer and you can always use a ton of extra space as some of my projects are 17 to 20 GB in size. My HP e9290f comes with a stock of 1 TB Seagate (I think) internal hard drive. I intend to add this DeckStar HGST hard 4 TB (7200 RPM)

However, I am not sure, if this drive is compatible with my computer. I talked about the upgrade & maintenance manual but inside, he tells me only how to replace the current internal hard drive. The addition of this amount of space external hard drive is not an option since all my ports are used by external hard drive! Can anyone shed light on what tools I need exactly to connect this HD extra 4TB? I would appreciate your answers, because time is of the essence

    Hello

I have not tested a HDD 4 TB on the motherboard of truckee. In theory, it should work as a data reader set shaped like a GPT disk.

Another option if you don't want to take the risk is to install two hard drives of 2 TB. The one in the location empty in the cage from the hard drive and another in the optical drive Bay (if open) second.  You will need one 3.5 "to 5.25" adapter if you use the optical Bay.

Check on the return policy for the 4 TB harddrive and see if your can return/exchange it if it doesn't work.  Kit retail for Hitachi 4TB has an optional driver if the motherboard of your PC will not format the drive completely outside up to 4 TB.

The ASUS GTX 560 should adapt and work very well. The Antec PSU is great and very likely to have problems in the space provided. It can interfere with connections to the motherboard and push against the CD/DVD discs. Please look at the Corsair CX600 instead. It is only slightly larger than the block of power SUPPLY HP stock and is known to adapt.

HULU Desktop: Host Version: 0.9.14.1 - SWF Version: 0.9.15.33

    HP MediaSmart/TouchSmart Netflix Version: 1.0.2.0

I have apalogize, I know that this has been done before, but I'm looking for different software or updates not upgrades.

A couple of weeks, I tried to watch a movie Blu - ray (made before 2013) through HP MediaSmart DVD, when I put the movie in him would ask if I wanted to check the updates, so I said yes, he started the process of loading and asked again if I wanted to check the updates. Finally, I took the film and went into settings, watched in updates and there was an update. So I chose the update and HP MediaSmart DVD HP TouchSmart DVD changed. After that, the movie played fine.

Now I'm watching a Blu - ray movie (made in 2013) and still once he asks me if I want to check the updates, so I took the film out, went into settings, that update, but there is nothing there. I put the movie back to try again and he asks me if I want to check the updates, so I push No., he would say "disk ready for play. Press Play to start. "So I press start and it will immediately message asking if I want to check the updates. So then the movie is still in I go into the settings, that update, and there is still nothing.

All DVD for the 2013 game and rain fines. All comics before 2013 play fine. All BDs for 2013 keep asking check updates.

Now, I find another reason that could not work the BDs is because my DVD/BD players could be updated.

Device: hp BD O DH4O3S SCSI CdRom Device & hp DVD a DH16AAL SCSI CdRom Device
    Driver provider: Microsoft
    Driver date: 21/06/2006
    Driver version: 6.1.7601.17514
    Digital signer: Microsoft Windows

I clicked on the update for both driver and said that I was aware.

I find no new updates for HP TouchSmart DVD on CyberLink website. Where can I check updates? In addition, what I have to update all of the HP MediaSmart Software Suite to make it work (and where I do that)? Are there updates for DVD/BD drives and if there is where can I find them?

Someone, please help me to find the updates.

Sorry it took so long to get back to that.

I finally got a new monitor (a long while ago):

HP Pavilion 22bw IPS monitor 21.5 backlit "

    1920 x 1080

    VGA, DVI - D, HDMI

So I tried again a movie BD 2013 on the HP MediaSmart/TouchSmart DVD thanks to the new screen and he asked again if I want to check for an update, but it worked fine on PowerDVD from CyberLink 13 (which means I have to buy ). So I have not watched all BD movies on my computer for awhile.

I recently bought a new computer and restored my old computer to its factory condition and reinstalled all programs and installed the updates I could find.

After I restored the computer I tried BD 2013 & 2015 on HP MediaSmart/TouchSmart DVD movies and he even asked if I want to check for an update. It's been 2 years and still no new updates! Looks like HP MediaSmart has become obsolete. I don't know if PowerDVD 13 still works because I obviously don't buy it.

Thus, it seems that if someone wants to play movies BD 2013 or newer that they should ensure that they have the right connection between the monitor and the computer and buy a new BD software to replace the old software obsolete.

With my new computer, I'll be closing this and boxing upward. So I don't need to worry about this more.

Thank you for your time and your help. And good luck to anyone else who might have the same problem.

  • Two monitors for the HP Pavilion Elite HPE with a Nvidia GeForce GT420

I currently have a HP 2211 monitor x and I have no connection problem which, however, I recently bought a HP s2331a I have bad to configure the monitor because it does not recognize the monitor is there something I am missing or just may not know how to connect the 2nd monitor. Please help me.

Mike, thanks for the clarification and the model of the computer.

There is a DVI - I and HDMI port on the computer.  You probably have to use an adapter to plug one of the monitors.  The key is to ensure that the drivers and software for both screens are installed on the computer.  Otherwise, it will never work properly.

Also, here's a guide that should help you get properly connected.

Yes, the power is 300 watts. Minimum 400 watts are for full power to retail graphics cards. The map provided by HP was custom designed to meet the requirements of power weaker and is is not the same as a retail card. HP has traditionally used Bestec and Lite-on original UPE.

To install a gaming grade graphics card, you will need to replace your power supply. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 are highly recommend and forum favorite. Further, these power supplies are only slightly larger than a block of power SUPPLY HP stock and are known to adapt. Power supply Idleness will put you back on the $50 - $75. I guess I can't install a player?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Hello

Your computer is fairly new, you should be ok, installation of a 1 TB drive.  Older computers may have problems of card motherboard/bios with bigger hard drives.  You can also install a SATA2 drive, but if your motherboard doesn't support SATA drive will just default to this speed (SATA2 is backward compatible).  The player below is to consider.
