PowerConnect 7000 series in-band versus out-of-band management

Hi all, I have four Powerconnect 7024 configured as two piles: a battery is dedicated to iSCSI and the other pile is my front-end network. I have the installation of battery of iSCSI with OOB management with the port connected to my pile of front-end but how do I set up the front battery management? I tried to configure in-band management during installation but stupidly did not test and now its deployment and I can't handle the battery at a distance. How others remotely manage their kernel stack if there is nowhere else to connect the port OOB for? The powerconnect switch discourages in-band management, but I don't see why you would not use it in this situation. Thank you, Christian

If you can connect to a laptop to the serial port, the RJ45 beside the OOB port corresponds to the serial port, but you would need a cable designed to convert the RJ45 and then possibly series to USB and series. You can access it through putty and set a static ip address to use on the OOB port with the command ip address ip address {ip address {mask: prefix length} | dhcp}

It is also set to dhcp mode by default so if you connect to the OOB port for something that gives DHCP it can get an address.

  • Over 4500 X out-of-band management interface

Each of the X 4500 switches in our stack has an interface of Fa1 beside the console port series.  My understanding is that this should be used for the out-of-band management of the switch.  Here is the configuration of the interface:

    interface FastEthernet1

    VRF forwarding mgmtVrf

    IP 172.21.2.30 255.255.255.0

    automatic speed

    automatic duplex

    end

Samba configuration was by default.  The only thing that I changed was the ip address information.  My question relates to things like domain-lookup and GANYMEDE.  I can't use this interface for these functions.  Even if I add the following global configuration to my passage:

    IP domain-lookup-interface source Fa1

    Radius-server interface Fa1 source IP

the switch is unable to communicate with the reference of DNS servers by ip name-server command or the reference GANYMEDE + servers in the section profile of the RADIUS server.

In the case of GANYMEDE, the following debug output is produced when I try to open a session using GANYMEDE:

    * 10:24:58.874 29 August: MORE: Queuing AAA request 38 for processing authentication

This output shows that I can ping from RADIUS servers:

    HQ-4500 X - SW1 #ping vrf mgmtVrf 172.19.40.31

    Type to abort escape sequence.

Send 5, echoes ICMP 100 bytes to 172.19.40.31, wait time is 2 seconds:

    Success rate is 100 per cent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/1/4 ms

The Fa1 interface cannot be used for these types of functions deliberate or is there something I can do to make this work for my setup?

    Thank you

    Steven

Given that you can reach the remote RADIUS server, I suppose that you have created a default route for the mgmtVrf:

IP route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0. VRF mgmtVrf

The other bits you need to address is in mode config-sg-Ganymede:

    IP vrf forwarding mgmtVrf

  • volume control stuck on screen - not work - not adjustable, Inspiron 13 7000 series 2-in-1

I have just bought a new laptop Inspiron 13 7000 series 2-1. It comes with Windows 8.1. It happened (don't know why) that the volume control is frozen on the screen at the top left with the volume level of 0% so I can not adjust the volume of all on both the keyboard and the touchscreen.

What I've tried is less than

-In the Control Panel, sounds, communications: when Windows detects communications activity

    Select "do nothing".

-uninstalled the audio driver and leave it is reinstalled automatically after reboot

-uninstalled the audio driver and install the audio driver downloaded from dell support

-clean the boot and uninstall - reinstall the driver

It was solved once when I tried the pull-off and push the usb for the logitech wireless mouse. When the volume control is stuck on the screen again, I tried this again, but it does not help.

    Any suggestion please. Thank you.

  • PowerConnect 6200 series interoperability with 3Com Switch 5500.

    Hi all

We offer to our customer Dell PowerConnect 6224 and 6248 as they are expanding their network.

Their existing network is 3Com Switch 5500 and the main switch is 5500G - EI. Of course, on their network, they have mutiple VLAN and switch 5500G - EI core will make the VIRTUAL LAN routing.

I would like to know, is it questions about interoperability between 3Com Switch 5500 and Dell PowerConnect 6200 Series, especially on the VLAN routing?

    Know your opinion.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Syed.

I'm not aware of any questions that you would see with the use of these switches together. On switches 62xx you set them VLAN, and then set the connection of 3Com in general or Trunk mode, allowing the VLANS on the connection.

    Create a VLAN

    Console (config) # vlan database

    VLAN console(config-VLAN) # 2

    VLAN console(config-VLAN) # 3

    VLAN console(config-VLAN) # 4

    output console(config-VLAN) #.

Configure the interface in Trunk mode and allow for VLAN through it.

    console switchport mode trunk #.

console # permit trunk switchport vlan add 2,3,4 tag

You may need to set a static route on the 62xx switch so the traffic on the next hop.

    Console (config) # ip route 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.0.0.2

Here are a few good white papers to look over. Not all of them concern the 62xx switch, but the information is always good.

  • FirePOWER vs 7000 Series Appliances Cisco Cisco FirePOWER 5000 Series Appliances and Security more

    Good evening

I put this thread to better understand that we enter firepower vs FirePOWER 5000 Cisco Cisco 7000 series devices Series Appliances are stronger for AMP, IPS and URL protection.

It is accurate to say that Cisco FirePOWER 7000 series devices is more powerful and safer such as defence AMP IPS and url vs Cisco Appliances of series 5000 firepower?

about security Plus (a feature of the router ASA5506H-SP-BUN-K8) whose security it provides?

    have a good answer

8000 and 7000 series devices are devices that came with the acquisition of Sourcefire. Strictly, they perform the Sourcefire software only and do not have the features of the ASA (routing, AnyConnect VPN and many others). They usually also provide larger flow capacities during execution of all services of firepower (IPS, AMP, AVC and characteristics of the URL). So if you don't need all the features ASA then the 7000/8000 series devices is probably a better choice.

The ASA5500-X series includes the best of both worlds. The ASA and Sourcefire software are running on the same box. So you can still use all of the functionality of the SAA and then also re - direct specific traffic to the Sourcefire module for additional inspection.

    I hope this helps!

  • Shape gradient develops series of banded paste forms

The last two days, I noticed an annoying problem with my gradients shapes in Illustrator. Sometimes, when I copy a shape to a document and paste it into another, the gradient develops into a series of banded forms that are masked by the original form. What is going on? Is this a bug?

  • Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series WiFi question

I bought an Inspiron 15 7000 series a week ago. Early on, the wifi does not work properly. It takes too much time to connect and also automatically disconnects frequently. Sometimes it shows only limited connectivity. I've updated the drivers but no change so far. All other devices in the House do not work properly. Thanks in advance for your support.

10 days ago, I bought an Inspiron 15 7000 series.  I had similar problems.  WiFi worked when you're sitting next to the router, but it refused to connect at all in low signal strength areas.  In moderate zones (next room or room just below) it works very well for a while but intermittently lose connectivity and although showing that connected would refuse to transfer anything - this necessary apparently the router rebooted to solve.  Since this morning I seem to have fixed things.  It is now usable in any home, linking where it has not before and no abandonment so far in areas of moderate signal strength.  The solution for me was to download the drivers from Intel.  Note that it worked when I first completely deleted existing drivers for wi - fi and bluetooth using Device Manager - I needed to check the box to delete the files, not only remove the drivers.  Then run the downloaded Update resulted in different drivers being installed.  In fact, these seem to be older than those previously installed - version number lower, earlier, fewer config options - which may be why the update did not return to this version until I completely deleted the drivers existing. It worked for me.  Certainly worth a try if you a not entirely remove the existing driver before the update files.  Note that if you do this, you must replenish your router password when you first connect to the wi - fi again.

  • Question of Linksys LAPAC1750PRO band management

Hey everybody. I have installed two AC1750PRO APs for a customer. Setup was easy, I upgraded 1.0.6 Build 2, and they appear to be stable. ButI have a question about the option management on this unit group.

I understand other devices and documents that band leadership tries to force about 70 ~ % of devices that support dual-band on Channel 5 instead of 2.4 GHz, to reduce congestion, as most of the devices simply default dual-band 2.4 otherwise channel.

I'm not sure, this is how the Linksys 1750PRO behave with this setting? The only option that I see because it is in the menu Access Point virtual under radio 2.4 ghz, in the form of a or to disable the check box. Am I was right in my assumption that check this checkbox will result in customers dual band facing the 5 GHz channel, instead of the channels 2.4 ghz, if possible?

In my view, that documentation should be updated in what respect this setting and how it behaves. The FAQ on this devices has only a question about tape management, which is 'How to activate steering band?' and the answer is incorrect. The answer says that you go to Configuration > Wireless > advanced. But there is no section advanced 1.0.6. The setting is indeed on the menu of virtual Access Points (VAP) under only 2.4 ghz radio.

Yes, the documentation on the direction Strip is not the best.

You are right about what direction Strip is and does.

What I find weird, it's that you can activate Executive on 5 GHz. It's not logical in my thinking because the direction of tape effects only Dual Band customers who are connecting to 2.4 Ghz.

It seems to me that dual band rules are not strictly implemented in the user interface. I recommend that you test with the underside of configuration for the direction of the band.

    1. Radio 1 (2,4 Ghz) VAP 0 activate direction Strip
    2. Radio 2 (5 GHz) VAP 0 enable band management and reflect the Radio 1 PPV parameters 0

In my mind, this is the only setting where I can see band Director for VFR operation 0.
