PowerConnect 8132F temperatures

Hello

When I check the temperature of the PowerConnect 8132F I can see the PHY and MAC temperatures. What do these?

Thanks for any response.

Kind regards

Martins

These are different chips on the switch.

"An Ethernet PHYceiver is a chip that implements the transfer of equipment and receive function of the Ethernet frames; It's interface to the modulation of the line at one end and the binary package of signaling to the other. Features such as the MAC address are being implemented by the Media Access Control function. ROM's Boot and Wake-on-LAN functionality is implemented in the network (NIC) interface card, which may have some PHY, MAC and other features in a single chip or as separate chips. »

You see problems of temperature with them?

In the last days, the Dell PowerConnect 8100 disappeared from the Dell Web site and now, the M4000 series with the same characteristics are presented.

It's just a change of name or these devices differ in some way? The M4000 firmwares is usable on 8100 switches in the future?

Dell PowerConnect N4000 switches series both Dell Networking PC8100 series share the same version of the firmware of the image (for example, N4000v6.1.0.1.stk). The Dell Networking N4000 series switches can be stacked with switches Dell Networking PC8100 of the series with any battery necessary for the performance of 6.0.0.8 or later firmware (6.1.0.1). Dell Networking PC8100 switches can support the firmware both 5.x and 6.x versions, but Dell Networking N4000 can support only the 6.0.0.8 and later versions of firmware (6.1.0.1)

    I hope this helps.

  • Reference Dell PowerConnect 2848 OID for CPU time and memory

    Hi all

This is my first post in this forum. I searched all the messages that can solve my problems, but I could not find so if there is already an existing post and I couldn't find it please guide me to it.

My case is. We have a few Dell PowerConnect 28xx switches in our network. We want to monitor things like the CPU, the temperature, the use of the RAM usage. We use Solarwinds IpMonitor monitoring tool. I downloaded the MIB, I could find the download of Firmware from Dell drivers and downloads page. I went through the entire MIB, but I couldn't find an OID for the foregoing.

So if anyone can help me please what OID is used for usage of CPU and RAM temperature it will really help me.

Please let us know in case we need more information on my side.

    Thank you

I did use SNMP on the 28xx but here are some various sensor OID, I used for the N-series, as well as some older models Powerconnect.  I don't know if they will work for the 2xxx, but you can try one or two and see if they work.

  • CWDM between Powerconnect 6200's

    Hello

I try to get CWDM working between two sites in London on Dell Powerconnect 6224 and 6248 a. I have the 2 x 10 GB SFP + modules both at the back and some optical CWDM SFP + listening that are coded to dell.

I have a link on both sides, however, cannot get any job adequate connectivity. Another post suggested that they were working with these switches before CWDM.

I've put the transceiver diagnostic information below:

Any suggestions, should CWDM SFP+ optics work in these switches?

    Thanks,Peter

    Hello

I don't think that no matter what optical CWDM provided by Dell.

Anyway, I managed to borrow some perspective to test with and they work very well. CWDM works on these switches...

  • PowerConnect 2824 - SNMP monitoring

    Hello

I want to monitor the State of a switch Dell PowerConnect 2824 using SNMP. I have trouble finding the proper MIBS.

Duplication of port is configured on a single port

    Thank you for your help

The rear modules are not designed for the addition with the switch, so even if this is not the cause of this, unplug the switch before you add modules is the recommended method to add. EnvMontask and BoxReq are for surveillance of the fans and the temperature, so adding a module could be the cause. With what is a PoE switch, it could be a device drawing too much power.

Reloading is probably the best first step to take. In addition, remove the module and update firmware would be the next steps. Is probably not a device connected, but unplug the cables and see if it causes a change in the CPU usage can also be useful.

  • List of SNMP OID of the PowerConnect switches

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone could can give advice on this survey, like all my research and investigations have not until this product no result.

I conclude on a significant deployment for a customer who has a mixture of 80xx PowerConnect 62xx, 55xx and M8024K blade, M6348 switches. All switches are deployed and operational, and we are now trying to set the SCOM server to use SNMP to retrieve events etc. of the switches.

the problem is that I couldn't find SNMP OID anywhere to concerned, switches that are required. the events that we want to keep an eye on relate to connect the downs, lag switch, battery, authentication and critical failures for the models.

There is no requirement for the consumption of its use, of temperature, fan or CPU power or memory, so they are not needed.

Are there SCOM management packs that might help out here?

Any advice or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Richter,

Looks like you just need to install traps to send alerts to your SCOM server.  Normally, to see the things that you listed as changes to links, lag, batteries, authentication failures and other critical changes of your switches, it is not necessary ask an OID.  All the these can be controlled automatically traps.  The processor, memory, temp, fan and power you listed are in a different category, because they are all sensors in the switch that can send a trap when a threshold is reached, but can also be queried for exact measurements.  Traps are easier to use than to the vote an OID and let you keep an eye on the areas that you mentioned.  To install traps, set your community on your switches string and the management server, enable all traps and configure your management as your recipient of the host server.  The commands are:

(config) #snmp - known private community server

(config) #snmp - server enable traps all

    (config) #snmp - private host 10.10.10.5 Server

I hope it's useful for you.

  • MacBook Pro lights at room temperature.

    Hello

I had this problem with my late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro since last year that he only turns on when I use a blow dryer and blow directly to the logic board to increase its temperature to above 70 ° c/160 degrees Fahrenheit.

I only found on this quick fix to turn it on a few days ago, before I had kept on for several months and as long as it's on it's a machine works well without any problems no matter what was the temperature of House of logic. I brought in a genius bar earlier for a verification of the material but they could not identify any problems.

Any idea of what this could be the cause?

    Thank you.

Just speculating, but maybe a cold or damaged joint to weld. When you heat, parts develop a connection. Cold, parts of contract, leaving a void in the weld joint.

  • Room temperature for SSD - iMac 2011

I had a company local 'geek' install a 1 TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD in my iMac 2011 after the factory 1 TB WD HDD went belly upwards. The iMac works fine after installation, but the fan runs continuously. I think (and check with technician) they have not connect the thermal sensor that I understand other forums, there is a spare cable. anyway. I installed Mac Fan Control, which was extremely easy and place the SSD fan to operate "sensor value based on '-'Ambient '. the default value for the SSD shows the temperature the fan will begin to increase is 75 degrees F, with a temperature Max to 95 degrees f. once set the fan has appeased and now always so gently purr, but I wonder if the settings are correct.

The Question: what would be the temperature for a SDS now in an iMac 2011? are the default settings listed above in the correct range? where can I find this info. I searched on the web...

    Thanks in advance.

The vendor who installed the SSD correct wiring, the fan control installation should work (although I don't recommend generally), but the seller must install things correctly. after 2009 iMacs had HD with temporary sensors integrated in the HD, your SSD does not only so you are correct in your statement that he needs the heat sensor wire. OWC provides one with their kits.

BTW, if you have taken your computer to Best Buy, which was your first mistake. I would not let any tech BBY within 5 miles of my equipment.

    If this Celsius, then no..

    These times are not good.

Maybe all the different events are hooked upward with the dust and fluff?

Maybe the inside of your iMac and its internal fans are inlaid upward with the dust, dirt and lint, too.

Did some research by writing this post and found that 11 "2010 a 10 watt tdp CPU and it has 17 watt tdp CPU. But still I would like to see some comments on the time.

Has it stopped due to the heat yet?

  • The fan speed does not match cpu temperature

    Hi all

following my last post, I have a new question. I have a 13 rMBP inches early 2015 2.7 ghz dual core i5.

by running ' Yes > / dev/null & Yes >/dev/null "(for about 4-5 minutes), I managed to get 100% load on both hearts, beginning of time editing.

at one point, fans of kick (they were before, 0 RPM, which is normal on the new mbp) and start climbing in RPM also.

then, cpu temp reached 97 - 98C and the speed of the fans stops about 3250 RPM rise. Temp remains steady at 97 - 98C as if 98C is ok and should not be cooled more far.

IMHO I'm not sure it's a hardware problem because obviously the temp reading is ok, fans begin to climb in rpm, the only issue is - why they stop at 3250 RPM when the CPU is 98C? (I know about fans of older models, kick to 100% after 90 c, but I wonder if this is the case in the new models or the fault is in my MBP)

also, it of not like the fans are completely disabled or works 100% all the time, looks like a problem of software for me.

If someone has the same model of rMBP I would appreciate running the ' Yes > / dev/null & Yes >/dev/null ' and sharing the results.

    p. s.

resetting the SMC has not changed anything

    diagnosis of Apple was ok

diagnosis more advanced on apple store was ok

performance of the mbp is quite normal than
