  • PowerEdge T100 CPU PE update

    Hello

    I have a PowerEdge T100 with a Xeon E3110 (Socket LGA775, 3 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB). It has a TDP of 65W. I want to upgrade to a Xeon X 3370 with a TDP of 95W.

According to this link the Xeon 3000 sequence must be compatible with the T100 (www.dell.com/.../SLN293995).
The heatsink on this machine is big enough and the cpu fan is very powerful. So can I expect that the upgrade of 65W 95W TDP will be OK? In addition, it will be much harder on food?
Do you know guys if this processor is really compatible with the T100?

    Hello

Yes, I show that we validated the X 3370 to E0 stepping. I looked into the list of guide and parts of construction for the T100 and I show that there is only one system of administration, PSU, and type of available heat sink. There should be no need to change all the other components.

If the system is near it's power with the current CPU limit, then by adding a power superior CPU can push you beyond this limit. I suggest you check your current energy consumption to ensure that you have the excess power available.

    Thank you

  • PE1650; Win2k3 Ent. SP2; The ERA\O default Post Boot Console Redirection

I have 6 of these units and I would like that the redirection of the console to be available after startup, but it seems to be running into a wall. Remot4e desktop works of course, but I ERA cards on all systems and how based on what my network design ends up being maybe I need it works. So basically, I have everything downloaded and updated to the new firmware 5.2 pre - os install cd iso. I have used burned and kicked the ISO, Setup the server and installed Windows Server 2003 instead of using only the managed node exe install post install a standard microsft. So, I wonder what I missed. Documentation seems to say that I did everything what I have to, I also have this problem with the drac3 in the same system (I used Acronis business to back up the system pre HIS installation and installation CARS I could restore every time to try both cards on a new OS).

I read through a bunch of wires; None seemed to really offer a solution but I have try this out without any positive result, only thing left is to downgrade firmware OMSA and/or RAC OR ask here for help :):
    ----------------------------------------
This problem occurs when you use the remote Microsoft Connect Client
(MSTSC. (EXE) with the option/console. Remote Desktop Client
connects to the Session 0 (that is, desktop connection). When the remote desktop
session is terminated (i.e., close the session or session is over) the
Services Terminal Server session is in a disconnected state and Session 0
is always locked. When an attempt is made to reconnect using the DRAC3
GUI, connection Remote Desktop is already attached to the Session 0.
    which has a black screen.

    Workaround solution:
    (1) use shadow sessions (do not/console)
    (2) when the problem occurs, a physical access to the console login will be unlock the session 0 and allow connection to remote DRAC3
    (3) restart the system will also delete Session 0, which allows a connection to remote DRAC3

My era is 3.37 firmware, would it not 3.35?
My OMSA is version 5.2, would he not 4.5?

I did not try a downgrade as dell site lists these versions under PE1650 downloads-> management systems so I guess that means that they have validated the compatibility / feature... I'm assuming too much?

  • PowerEdge 2500 - no available boot device

I'm trying to revive an old Poweredge 2500 that starts up with the error: no available boot device, press F1 to retry or F2 to enter Setup utility

I have 3 drives on the SCSI channel Hot and also have a CD ROM on this channel too

I set the boot sequence to boot to CD Rom first, so that I can maybe just install Windows Server 2008 and get things up and running

But it is not booting to CD ROM. its just commissioning and turning the device No. Bot available

Is this dead or can I revive somehow? Thank you

Server 2008 DVDS only and I doubt that any 2500's never delivered with DVD players.  You should be able to boot from a CD of 2003.

Is there a BONE here, you want to fix it?  If so, do you have RAID (PERC 3/Di) activated in a RAID 1 or RAID 5?

  • ESXi 4.0 and DELL PowerEdge T100

    Hi all

I have a question to any user of the T100 Server (or anyone abe to solve my problem). I want to buy a DELL (round) Server compatible with ESXi 4.0. But I have a problem with the compatibility logging, I found a document from DELL:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/eDOCS/software/eslvmwre/vs/AdditionalDocs/compatbltymatrx/compmat.PDF

Who informs on the compatibility of the T100 with ESXi 4.0 server. On the other hand on the compatibility list VMware it is said T100 is compatible with ESXi 4.0 but with Intel Xeon 33xx series. I have not found an exact match as Intel Xeon 3300. But in the configuration of the server, I found a processor like the Quad Core Intel® Xeon® X 3330; 2.66 GHz, 2x3M Cache, 1333 MHz FSB, 95W TDP.

And my question is this compatible with ESXi 4.0 Server and CPU? Anyone tried this configuration or knows answer this question with certainty? It would be very helpful because if I buy T100 which won't be compatible with ESXi 4.0 it will be useless. Please do not suggest other DELL PowerEdge servers - I have no money for them.

    Thanks in advance.

The selected processor would be correct. I don't know if controller SAS 6iR has of a cache battery module, but it is worth for the performance of the disk.

  • PowerEdge T100 and Xeon X 3320

Is the Xeon X 3320 (Yorkfield, 6 M Cache, 2.50 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, LGA775, 95W) supported by the PET100? I want to upgrade the processor and my ($) options are the E3110 or X 3320.

And what about the C2Duo E8400, Q8400 C2Quad or Q9400 C2Quad? If I can go to one of them (cheaper) I can invest on another stick of RAM...

    Bongobeat,

The E3110 (DW472 of the part for the single processor) or P694D of the part for the service kit is the only processor you was on the list that is currently displayed as supported in the T100. None of the C2 duets show, or the X 3320, there is a X 3220 and a X 3330.

Hope this helps to answer your questions.

  • PowerEdge R410 new RAID boot issue

We have an R410 on which I'm trying to install a new RAID 6 with 4 new SAS drives. However, after the configuration of the RAID on the PERC 6 / i BIOS utility, I have the "OK" tab, and immediately, the LEDs blink amber on all readers. Utility, the new VD shows as offline and under the physical disks, all readers say FAILURE.

All four discs are brand new. I tried to configure the RAID with the PERC BIOS utility and the interface of the USC, but with the same exact results. Lights are green and seems good RAID settings are applied, how all four disks have flashing orange LED. Once booted to the Server 2008 r2 installation disk, Windows does not see the disks.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the update.  It can very well be a problem of compatibility of drive.  I'm not saying you cannot use non-certified Dell disks, because there are a lot of clients that do. It's just that we cannot tell you the expected behavior of Dell not certified, we are able to solve effectively because of communication problems with the controller.  Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.  I've seen them work but with weird errors on the controller log.

You better bet to make sure that the controller in question is not faulty by entering a known well certified readers and test it by creating some temporary VD.

For updates of the platform, you can also try to configure your network via the menu of USC and make updates to the platform by hitting the source ftp.dell.com. Followed by the option of operating system deployment. If your lifecycle Controller (LCC) is updated, it should work well for system updates and operating system installs.

Let us know what you find, or how we can help.

  • Comments for the 64-bit Dell PowerEdge T100 support

    Hi all

Apologies if it's basic but I'm just getting started with virtualization and I installed VMWare ESXi 4 disc and connected remotely using VSphere. I am installing a guest OS Windows 2008 64 bit but I get an error indicating that the system is not 64-bit compatible when it installs well if I use the normal Windows 2008 disk to install the 64 bit OS. I checked the HCL, and he seems to suggest that it should work fine.

    Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the forums.

If you haven't already done so, you need to enable VT in the BIOS.  Check Ko 1000217 for more information.

  • SSD Raid 1 on the PowerEdge 100 motherboard Sata ports

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge T100 with a Raid 1 SAS. I want to upgrade the server with 2 SSD connected to the Sata ports directly on the motherboard. They would Raid 1.

Do you know if this is possible with the T100 PE?

    Hello

I can't say with certainty. It is theoretically possible, but here are some things to consider:

    1. I show that we validated a SSD for the T100
    2. I do not show that the T100 is supported by the AHCI. Better SSDS feature with AHCI
    3. Although the ICH9R chipset is capable of RAID I do not show that it is a feature of the version installed in the T100 system map. You will need to run the RAID software within the operating system if you want a RAID array.

Another thing to note is that the SATA ports are locked when a RAID SAS controller is present. Some of the ports are unavailable if this controller is present in the system.

    Thank you

  • Installation DVD does not recognize my internal HD on a 2008 iMac

I'm looking for suggestions here.  My 94 year old mother has used the iMac 2008 8.1 for internet e-mail.  We needed to upgrade its OS X 10.5 to be able to upgrade to a new version of safari to access some banking sites.  I upgraded the memory.  Sister has an iMac with OS X 10.6.2 Installation/restore dvd 2010.  I went to update.  I have caused the initial problem because after reading info seemed I could create a second partition on the hard drive of 250 GB and use Time Machine to back up before preceding.  See not all the warnings on the addition of the partition. (Yes, if I had not forgotten my external hard drive I should not try that, but I forgot it.)  Things seemed to make the partition, but time machine bogged down and hung up.  After trying many things, I found myself deleting and resetting on the internal extended (journaled) using HD, recreating a single partition using the guidelines GUID, thinking that I could just do a clean reinstall.  BUT, while I can check/fix delete etc the internal disk utility when HD started from my external hard drive so I boot from the OS install DVD it does not recognize the internal HD.   ? ? ?   Gives cannot update this post Mac.  If I run the Setup from the beginning of the disk upward once again, no offers to go to in the installation program.  I can access everything in THE RUNOFF when the post boot drive.

Why THE works on the internal HD of the post start up (which was made with the 10.6.2 installation DVD), but not when started to leave the DVD left me puzzled. The DVD is not just see the it.  When it is started from the DVD with the external drive, he sees very well.   You are looking for ideas, thank you in advance.  By the Way the machine had no problem before starting this :) live and learn!

If I understand what you were doing, you tried to use a Mac installation disc and to update another Mac? Is this correct?

If I am not mistaken, which simply does not work. The installation provided with Mac discs won't work on another Mac, the original installation discs are machine-specific.

  • Satellite Pro A100 (PSAACE) - do not display

    Hi all

You have a problem that has confused me.

A few weeks ago my very old a100 Sat Pro (PSAACE) began to refuse to display anything on the screen.

It comes to boot, that is, I press the power button on the cold, the system of vortices and fan will both nothing appears on the screen.

I left the cell only and noticed she appeared on my network, so I have remote desktop connected to and everything worked, but still no display on the laptop actually.

Thinking that perhaps it would be a weird configuration that I started by pressing Fn + F5 to switch between views, at this point, I managed to get a display on the laptop screen.

But at the next startup, it does the same thing, that lasted a few days with me by pressing Fn + F5 to get a display.

Then the Fn + F5 has stopped working, I was still able to remote desktop and use the laptop but I couldn't get anything to display.

In windows, the ATI Mobility 1400 had disappeared from the Device Manager.

I thought that the controller VGA card had blown to order it a new.

I mounted this now, and it has not solved the problem. The Fn + F5, workaround works sometimes, but give a very weird-like display corrupt fonts etc.

    * However if I do a screenshot it and the screen on another PC and fonts appear normal. *

The 1400 mobility is now recognized by Windows, but still nothing on the screen at during the POST, boot, or Windows.

Fearing corruption BIOS I re flashed with the official BIOS 6.00.

All in all the machine works fine, just no display or by pressing Fn + F5 I can sometimes get the corrupted + with screen.

Finally, I hung on an external monitor, at no time do get any screen top regardless of the Fn + F5 or windows, POST etc...

Any thoughts? A defective cable of LCD/FL would cause this type of problem? or even a faulty inverter Board? or because I don't have any external display I'm looking for a failure of the main card?

Happy to make all new test someone can think...

Thanks in advanced for the help

    Richard

    > Any ideas? A defective cable of LCD/FL would cause this type of problem? or even a faulty inverter Board? or since > I have no external display I am looking at a motherboard failure?

I understand you; you don t get anything on an external monitor?
Hmm, in my opinion it FL s inverter not given that the FL inverter controlled only a screen backlight
So even if the FL inverter would be defective, you'd see something on the external monitor, but very weakly.

Cable LCD/FL problem? Perhaps, but if the cable is defective you wouldn't see anything, even using Fn + F5 key combination.
So finally, it could be a motherboard problem. But just a guess
