  Greetings-

  I'm new to the cmd - allows VMware Powershell and have studied this but have not found much.  I find that doing a simple search VM:

  Can take up to a minute to return the value.  Is there a better way to do this?  I currently have only 650 VM in my system virtual center but that will increase to more than 3,000 people this coming year.  I suppose that if I made this request while "next to" the VC box it may be faster, but unfortunately I do it work on a 500 k WAN link (via VPN at home).  I haven't done an analysis of the packets, but I'm guessing that get - vm is pulling through clear text soap each entry until he finds what he's looking for.

  The Get - Vm cmdlet is indeed very slow.

  Take a look at speed by using Get-VM vs Get-viewin that thread Andrey (one of the developers of the VITK) and Carter (product manager for the VITK) gave some comments.

• Cable modem has no WAN port

  I have XFinity for my cable and internet services.  We just moved into a house built in 1850 and due to the size of the House and horse hair plaster, upstairs gets very little signal WiFi.  I want to extend the reach of WiFi and intended to do with a couple of Airport extreme.  The only problem is, every tutorial I watch shows the first Airport Extreme being plugged into the WAN port on the modem cable suppliers.  My router/modem, made by Cisco, has no port Ethernet WAN port only 4.  Can I connect the Airport Extreme on port 1 and then put in place using the Airport according to normal or need a WAN port?

  If you have a modem/router, then you would connect an Ethernet cable from one of the four ports Ethernet LAN <>-... choose any you want, they are all the same... to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port.

  Then use Configuration utility of Apple AirPort "Wizard" to configure AirPort Extreme to create a wireless network that uses the same exact wireless network and the same password that the wireless Cisco uses.

  The wizard will apply automatically other correct parameters... Mode Bridge, by example... so you don't have to worry about things like that.

  I connect to an access provider via Airport Extreme, which is extended through two Airport Express.  When I try to edit anything in one of these devices, even a name, I get this message: "you have entered the address of the router is not compatible with your WAN IP address.  My connection seems to work, but there is clearly something wrong with her.  The Express has no DNS and will not update without the same message.  I have no idea what this is all about and will greatly appreciate the ideas.

  Hi, here is my setup:

  I have the DSL modem/router (cannot access the administration panel (ISP does not give) - so it must be in router mode acting without DHCP) hooked up to my no. 1-2 to time capsule (latest model, latest firmware 7.7.7 - in Bridge mode - acting as a dhcp server).

  My 2nd time capsule, also of 2 TB, latest firmware 7.6.7, is connected to the extended bridge ethernet mode (mode dhcp client) 1 St time capsule.

  I installed all the capsules of the time with the overall dynamic hostname and entered my apple for the CCMM ID (green light is on in the airport utility).

  Now the problem is when I connect to the external IP I can properly connect to the 1 St time capsule and browse files, backups, etc, but I can't connect to my 2nd time capsule of the external IP address.

  The two time capsules appear fine in the finder when I'm off the LAN, but it does not connect to a 2nd.

  What is the problem? Am I missing something?

  Part of the discs on WAN is not an option for me as I said I can't put no.1 Time Capsule in router mode due to my ISP give me admin for my DSL modem access.

  Your problem is that the two TC are on the same (your public WAN) IP address and the same ports, according to the standard CCMM. So the first TC in the chain is the one who gets the attention and captured the port.

  Apple didn't CCMM system able to cope with two of the devices themselves I guess.

  The usual way around this kind of thing is to use a different port. Unfortunately, Apple has hidden everything and so there is no way to connect to another port.

  The only solution I can think to... other than the simple move all the files you want to the first TC... is to use VPN not CCMM.

  Buy a VPN router... What are cheap... type of SME end pretty cheap, you can buy or you can buy a router in most common domestic type and run it to third person (dd - wrt, openwrt, Gargoyle, etc.).

  Once you have established a tunnel in your local network, then all in the local network is fully accessible.

• The WAN Port is communicating with the Ethernet switch?

  I have a Comcast gateway that the router is disabled in so it acts only as a modem. This is related to an Airport Extreme, which serves as my router via the WAN on the AE port. I created a different WAP with a Capsule temporal from the airport, located downstairs with an Ethernet cable from one of the Ethernet ports on the AE to the WAN on the TC port. I think it's what we call a 'roaming network.

  My question is, can I connect my switch Gigabit 8 ports in one of the Ethernet ports on the TC to complete connections wired to all devices connected on it, or should I first connect EI to the switch 8 ports and then connect the switch to the port WAN TC to complete my network "roaming"? In other words, plug it into the port WAN AE or TC still allows you to use other Ethernet ports as a switch?

  Yes, assuming that the TC has been configured to run in Bridge Mode, which would be normal.

  It would be considered preferable to wiring, if it is convenient to do so.  For example, in the configuration of the wiring in the previous example just above... If there is a problem with the time Capsule, then all devices connected to the switch to the time Capsule would have a problem as well.

  If the switch is connected to the AirPort Extreme, and the TC is then connected to the switch... If the TC has a problem, the other devices connected to the switch of will not be affected.

  Yes, it is... but NAT in router is not powerful enough to manage gigabit connections...

  I'd say you're still shy of the number... I expect about 400-450Mbps as the best, that the processor can handle without hardware NAT.

  The problem is firmware Apple removes material NAT... and without it the speed decreases considerably... but you probably other things running that is causing slow downs.

  Apple Airport extreme is in the list... a long long way down. Place about 80... with prices upwards... the design is now 4 years old and simple fact is that they have been exceeded on all fronts.

  Please take a look in the user manual which must be preinstalled on the laptop.
  There is information that the FN buttons in combination with the F1 - F12 keys would have enabled some features/options.
  The WAN/Wlan can also be switched on and off using the FN key!
