Premiere Pro CS4 support native Canon 7 d mov format?

Having recently ordered the purchase of a Canon 7 d DSLR that captures files at 24, 25 and 30 fps mov mov clips, first Pro CS4 supports these files?

My intention is to capture mov files and edit them using first Pro CS4.

Is the edition of mov files possible?

What fps setting would be best?

Any tips, suggestions or other errata with first Pro CS4 mov files?

Answers to other questions of typical newbie would also be appreciated?

MOV is just a container that can hold all kinds of different things. It's all about the substance inside that container that matters. Very likely PR will support it not natively, and you need a special codec like Morgan or MainConcept. But first you need to understand which codec is used.

    Ewan,

After you have installed the latest version of Apple's QT player, did reboot the system?

QT Player should install more common MOV CODEC, but for them to show in the system (where they are installed), usually, we need to restart.

  • Motion JPEG AVI codec not supported by Adobe Premiere Pro CS4?

    Hi all

First of all, I must say that English is not my mother tongue. Forgive me if I make spelling mistakes or if I write inpolitely, it is not the intention.

I have a couple of videos made with a camera. The videos have an .avi extension and a Motion JPEG codec. I can watch them on my computer fine with the two Windows Media Player, Winamp, or Quicktime. However, when I try to use them in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, the videos are stuck after a few images (half a second), even if the sound is going very well. I am quite sure that this is a problem in Adobe Premiere Pro, because they DON'T work well in Adobe After Effects CS4. I tried to convert the video to another codec, but no matter what that the settings I use, there are still many quality loss.

Nobody knows how to solve this problem in the first? I read the following document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/166/tn_16612.html but I don't quite understand, I'm not used to working with the property inspector or Lingo. If someone could explain this document to me it would be too good.

    Thank you in advance,

    Bib-lost25

The link you provide is related to the Flash program and is not relevant to your problem.

I don't know why the Mjpeg files work in some programs (including After Effects) and not first.  But the reality is that you need to add an Mjpeg codec. I love Morgan (although I don't have CS4 and it was inherited from my days of Pinnacle real files).

There are other threads on this topic; try searching for "mjpeg".

  • Premiere Pro CS4 trial update, now the codecs are missing

I had to reinstall my Premiere Pro CS4 (which was a downloaded update) on a new computer and install the free trial first. Now, after working with Adobe support and supposed to have been upgraded to full CS4, I get the error message: "additional codecs that do not appear in the Premiere Pro CS4 trial version must be installed." I try to update on the Help menu, but get the message that "there no update at this time."  Anyone have any ideas?

First of all, this isn't Adobe.  This is a user to user forum.  We are customers like you, with the exception of a few employees from Adobe that are similar to.

Second, Adobe doesn't support a change of platform (operating system) for current software versions, although you can switch to another platform:

  • Premiere Pro CS4 hungs on importing or opening files

    Hello!

I have a serious problem with Premiere Pro CS4. I have install on Windows 8, everything goes well. I create the first project and import mov files. First time I tried h284 Canon DSLR raw file. He played really bad. Secondly, I try AVID DNxHD mov, plays too slow, but everything is normal. But shortly after the first absolutely freezing. I restart, try to import the file or open the project with imported files (no matter what codec it is), it freezes again as before. And nothing helped. I tried to reinstall it about 5 times, it has no effect. What is c? Please, help me!

P.S. I don't know it worked on Windows 7 with MOV of the Canon camera, but I was working with other codecs.

Update. I found this problem described appears only with files DNxHD. regular H.284 causes different problem - during the first window loses focus (when I go to explorer, for example) first crashes, it's the window disappears and only strange red line stays on the screen. WTF?...

  • AVI file won't play in Premiere Pro CS4

I wonder if someone can show me a simple solution to this problem.

I did an AVI movie with my Canon Powershot A2100 640 x 480 to 88 kbps and 769MB. After a tutorial of Project http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cs4/getting-started-02-setting-up-your-first-/ (and more) I can't my video to play. The games sound but the video portion is not... It does not correctly play with Windows Media Player

As a separate trial, I ran my video using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 export to another AVI file and this file will play in Premier Pro. The only difference is that I exported it without the audio.

Any thoughts?   My goal is to change the sound and hopefully reduce the size of the file so that it will be able to my site web watch.

    Thank you for your time

For a film MJPEG, another popular CODEC is the Morgan.

  • Export of parameters (Premiere Pro CS4 with Matrox)

    Premiere Pro CS4

    Canon XHG1 camera (HDV/Mini-DV/NTSC)

    Card Matrox RT. X 2

HP's Z800 with Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz, 12 GB of RAM and running Windows 7

I have experience with digital video editing in first, export up to 40 minutes the videos (which took maybe 2 hours for export), but the last version I used was perhaps first 7 and I didn't have the Matrox card (and used a much less powerful than this computer). I used as just a level of consumption, not the big Canon camera. Now, I try to export the video and there are more choices that I had before, and it seems that the time estimated to export is quite high, despite a good machine and the Matrox card.

So my question is, is there anywhere a chart that shows what settings to use for the particular output you are looking for? For example, what should I choose for the web that's enough quality but not a giant file? What should I choose if I want to make a DVD? Is it possible to export directly to a DVD, if you do not manipulate the video at all? I said, I should be able to use the Matrox card to reduce the time to export, but it seems that at least 5 times the length of the video export anything.

I guess a question important here is: what is the normal amount of time I should expect something to take to the export? I have a 2 hour video that just needs to be transferred from mini DV tapes and engraved on a DVD - no necessary effect. Time to export the lowest estimate I can get is about 10 hours, and I don't know what that looks like in terms of quality when finished.

In the future I'll do more often in short (2 minutes or less) video for the web, so time for export should be short, but I would still like to know what are the best settings and how much time it should take.

I hope this makes sense - thanks for your help!

    Geneviève

The major bottleneck appears indeed disk I/O.Even if you have two physical disks in the system, Win7 consider them as a single disc, because they are attacked as a raid1. For performance optimal disc I suggest you to add at least two physical disks + 7200 RPM (so SAS or SATA, the latter cheaper, the first with a best performance), move the pagefile and projects and the cache of media in one of the discs and the other disk media. Which will improve your results significantly in my opinion.

Then have a look at the two latest guides here, storage and tuning: How to get the best from a PC? Some guides...

The setting guide was written for Vista, but the Blackviper site now also has a guide for Win7 services.

    I hope this helps.

  • Premiere Pro CS4

Customer notes: I had a file zipped with all sources of creation that somehow got clobbered. However, I have all .cfa and .pek files.  Can I reco
nstruct source the use of these files, or at least make a new output file?

If while do I do or what tools do I need?

    (1) I want to retrieve the source or to recreate the source of the only thing I have left and who are the .pek and .cfa files.

    (2) I'm using Premiere Pro CS4.

    Operating system: Windows XP Professional

    Case number: 181174894

Ajay, I assume that you are a kind of support staff tries to help a customer.  The .pek and .cfa are intermediate files that cannot be used to create the files needed to save the project.

The client seems to say that they do not have the source, and the answer here is that you can not rebuild the 'source' (i.e. files that actually contain video and audio information) of the .pek and .cfa.

The customer does not use the strange expression of 'First source' but the source isn't really a file first, that's what they brought in first first.  First doesn't create new versions of these files. It uses the files that they imported.  So if they copy those files to another disk and delete the source files, first doesn't have a copy of those lying around.

The slight exception to this is if they saw the files in the project, but they will usually have extensions .avi (and be in a folder with "Preview" in the name).

Now the customer might actually have the original tapes or other original material; I would ask them.

  • My notebook yourself run Premiere Pro CS4?

    Hey guys,.

I'm new here. I was wondering if my laptop could run Premiere Pro CS4. Regardless of the conditions on adobe.com, could my laptop still run ok?

    Data sheet:

    Dell Studio XPS 16

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 - 2.4 GHz, 3 MB cache, 1066 MHz FSB

4 GB DDR3 RAM memory twin 1067 MHz

Graphics ATi Mobility Radeon 4670-1 GB

    320 GB AT 7200 RPM

    1920 x 1080

Tell me if I need to add more specifications.

    Thanks in advance!

Amazon page you can click the menu drop down and choose the 500 GB model, which is only $119 (I paid $184 last year for the 500 GB, then got the 1 TB for $155... price!). He comes to 7200 RPM drives and important features.

No, you needn't the ExpressCard if you have an eSata port. I did not, so I was just showing what is available.

eSata drives are not faster than internal hard drives (at least 7200 rpm ones), but they're pretty close. The point is NOT to use USB or FireWire, port ports, they are slower. But for editing on a laptop, you'll want a second disc for your support with your internal drive for the OS and creation. You can do it on a drive to the rigour, but performance will suffer. If your laptop could mount a second internal drive then that would be nice, but it's going to be a hot laptop!

  • Premiere Pro CS4 and Adobe CS5.0 compatibility with Windows 8.1

    Hello.

I installed Adobe Suite CS5.0 and Premiere Pro CS4 on a PC with windows 8.0 and work well. If am I on Windows 8.1 I'll find some compatibility issues the with these software ?

    Thank you very much

I use CS5 with Win8.1 and have no problem, but cannot comment on CS4 (you may need CS4 right click and select Windows XP mode in the options window)

You probably want to run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL permissions... said again, but sometimes necessary for all Adobe programs

N ° platform Swaps apply only to the last version that was CS6. Apart it's a moot point - CS4 is not compatible with the current versions of Mac OS X, anyway.
