Presario C700: laptop computer monitor

There is backlight of my laptop came out, and when I checked the cable for the monitor, I noticed that the cable has a few threads that are broken (warranty laptop was gone until I checked the cables) and I was wondering how it would be to get the cable replaced so that the monitor can be used again. The cable P/N is DC02000FM00.

Here's the part on eBay:

HP does not install this for you he will either have to be DIY or buy the part and bring it to a repair place local computer and work would probably $ 50-$100, or on what the laptop is useful. It's a thing of medium difficulty. Here is the manual if you want to see how to do it yourself:

My quetsion is, I need 4 GB of RAM for this c700, should I update the Bios for Win 7. By doing so the c700 I would like to install 4 GB of RAM and works?

Well, I just told you that you could improve it to maximum 2 GB, it is scalable.  This model is an old model of value, so if you are wanting to make all the upgrades (RAM, Windows 8.1) - I would seriously consider to put this money to replacement.

I'm sorry. HP did not provide Windows 7 drivers for your laptop.

Windows XP drivers are not a problem. If your computer uses a processor Intel and the chipset driver chipset can be found at Intel.  Download and run CPU-z to determine whiich chipset and processor are installed.

  • Compaq Presario 2586US laptop - hard drive upgrade

Recently, I took a chance and bought 2 'parts only' Compaq Presario 2500 laptop computer series off Ebay and was able to make a unique work PC with motherboard of the 2586US being the motherboard, I used.  I don't have a hard drive, so I bought a Samsung 160 GB ATA drive.  Turns out I have to not need the adapter on the end of bus because it plugged right in the motherboard making.  The reader is supposed to be ATA100 and ATA133 at the upper end (I don't remember which).  I put the drive and installed Windows.  I noticed that it seemed slow but Windows showed the disc to the original format.  Then I went to dual-boot with a Linux distribution and encountered errors.  Thanks to a lot of research on the web I found the BIOS and the IDE interface itself (?) apparently does not have a drive larger than 137 GB.  I checked the BIOS and indeed it says the maximum usable size 137 GB.  It also shows the transfer rate to DMA2, which, as I understand it, means that it is only the transfer to 33 MB instead of 100 or 133 MB.  The service manual says ATA100, so it should support a transfer DMA5 rate.

I don't pretend to understand all of this at all.  So, I'm looking for help.

    (1) is anyway to go beyond 137 GB on a hard drive in this laptop?

    (2) otherwise, it's the fact that my drive is actually 160 GB when the PC support 137Go cause more problems?

    (3) what should I do to obtain a rate of transfer beyond DMA2?  The configuration of the BIOS doesn't let me tab this field to change.

Thanks for any help and explanations that I can understand.  Don't forget that I am just your average Joe and not some kind of expert at all.  I found a lot of this on the web but don't know what it means.

    Thanks in advance!

    Dave

After a lot of research and reading on the net, I found the following link:

    http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~leeey/A7A266/

Basically, the driver ALi M5229 was the problem.  It was not really support the DMA modes.  The link explains this and provides a link for the driver of the UDMA for the chip (it is not only the miniport driver that you get from the Compaq/HP site).  I installed it, had to reboot about 3 or 4 times due to messages "new hardware has been installed, but a reboot is required.  When I finally got around those I noticed that in Device Manager I see the ALi controller and it is listed as a UDMA controller now.  The individual channels are not displayed (the pilot seems to configure the drives as SCSI peripheral nickname).  Using the included ALi utility, it shows my driver running at ATA100/133.  Startup, everything including startup items until my office is there, the system's busiest has been reduced to about 1/4 or 1/5 while she was before.   I have a new system of hearts for my office, so sometimes I think that it still seems a bit slow, but there is a world of difference between a modern quad core system and this old laptop P4 architecture, etc..  But okay, the laptop works fine now in Windows.  Now I'll have to see what it looks like for Linux, because I have no idea what it uses for the driver ALi M5229.

I think we can safely call this thread closed, how ever do you that.  Somehow, I thought she was going to be a bit obscure, and I guess you can say it was!

Thank you all for any help here!

  • Compaq Presario C700 CTO - blue screen drivers/events/mode RAID or AHCI?

    Hello

I need to know if my PC Compaq Presario C700 CTO Notebook is running in RAID or AHCI mode because of problems with a driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager (IMSM).  The Read Me text file in the menu start > all programs > intel Matrix Storage Manager folder said if my system works in RAID or AHCI mode determines if my computer needs this driver.

For the past month, my computer stops and restarts with a blue screen and message when the desktop appears as a message. (The blue screen does not last long enough to read.)  The message is always the same except one I had yesterday which is described at the end of this post.

"Windows has stopped unexpectedly. '.  The details are:

    Signature of the problem:
    Problem event name: BlueScreen
    The system version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    More information about the problem:

    BCP4: 00000000
    OS version: 6_0_6002

    C:\Users\Dawna\AppData\Local\Temp\WERE54F.tmp.version.txt

    A solution:

Problem with the Intel IMSM driver.

Intel IMSM driver has stopped working properly.

Press or click on to download the update on the site of ASUS computer.

I several times installed upgrading after the blue screen event ever.  The download is an application called V8.9.2.1002_logo_Win7Vista3264.exe.

The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver is not in the list of devices in Device Manager > show hidden devices.  I found information on the HP site indicating how do I know if my computer has the driver, because I thought that maybe it has not been installed correctly.  I found the Intel Matrix Storage Manager program folder in the start menu > new programs.  I can't know what version it is.  Reading tells Me to text file in the folder to open the Device Manager and search for specific controllers SATA RAID and SATA AHCI controllers.  If not in the list then it appears that my OS is not running in two modes.  I can't find these devices in the list, but the Read Me text file advises me to contact the manufacturer in case of doubt.  My warranty has expired, so I'm here asking for help.

When I use the HP product detection analysis to try to automatically scan for driver updates, it reads my product incorrectly.   Running the tool has sometimes followed by a crash and blue screen.

I do not remember the changes that I made at the time when the events of the blue screen started to happen.  There was an event yesterday blue screen and the message on the desk said a problem with the HP Recovery Manager and backup.   He advised me to install an update from the HP website.  The link did not open so I downloaded the version 4.0.100.1189sp39296.exe of HP update.  I've also updated my graphics driver.

I would be grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.   I'm worried about damaging my computer.

    Hello:

First of all your needs from laptop to have the hardware (CPU and chipset) Intel to run the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

Your C700 CTO may have either hardware Intel or an AMD/Nvidia chipset so I can't tell you what your laptop has.

You can tell however, and you can tell what mode of the controller to your PC is currently running (AHCI or RAID).

If you have PC, go into the Device Manager and if you have a category of an ATA/ATAPI IDE controller based on an Intel processor, click to expand that and if your laptop is running in AHCI mode, the controller will have the AHCI word in the description of the controller.

If your mobile phone is set to RAID (which I doubt), scroll down further on the Device Manager list, and there would be a category of storage controllers if the command is set to RAID.

Click to expand, and you would see a description of disk with the word inside RAID controller.

  • Rebuild a Presario C700

My Presario C700 worked for a while with Windows Vista installed.  He began to expose problems, mainly communications.  After about 1 year of blindly look to correct his mistakes, I tried to install my copy of Windows XP on the laptop to replace that awful Vista.  N ' T WORK! .

The system constantly returned a message that he does not see the hard drive.  Then I started to a bootable CD Windows 98 Super which enabled me to reformat the hard drive with Windows 98 DOS.

I then repeated the attempt of Windows XP installation and to my dismay he cannot always see the hard drive.  When I start the computer without CD or DVD installed, it starts immediately to C:\.

Someone will direct me please in appropriate methods or software necessary to configure my Presario C700 so that the unit will operate with Windows XP as operating system.

I did the research further through the entries after that I had posted my problem and found the solution to my problem.  I am very grateful for the information.

  • 'my' recovery disks to recover 'his' presario c700

    Hello

can someone help me with this one?

someone contacted me asking if he could borrow my recovery disks. We have... the same computer laptop presario c700, but my c794tu is more recent than hers... I forgot what model, but it does not mention it was a c700... a c78xxx something w / 1.73ghz I guess.

in any case, his laptop came with Vista Home Basic preinstalled even than mine. the thing is he reformatted his hard drive... and went out of the partition of recovery as well... and you've probably guessed it... without having its own recovery disks.

so... can I use my recovery disks to restore his computer? I know that differences in the drivers problems can arise because of the difference in model... but he is willing to take the risk because he has nothing to lose really. He would have at least one operating system running.

of course, to protect my own license, I would like to ask about the 'Change product key' option in the control panel. grant, all right, if we change the product key with his... that would be ok? He still has the Vista OEM sticker on his laptop, so we think that we can activate Vista of my installed on his laptop recovery disks using its product key.

Finally, given that we have already restored his laptop to factory default OS, the correct drivers and everything works as if it came from the factory, can make its own recovery disks so he would not have this problem again?

    is this possible?

Thanks in advance to those who can help you.

    John

Recovery is installed with a generic key (volume license) used by HP. It does not use the license key that you have on the sticker, so it wouldn't be a problem. The license key on your sticker is some sort a formality and is not actually used during installation using recovery. If you used a regular dvd of Vista to install, you will need to enter the key to activate

The key used by recovery is similar to an enterprise license that may have a company allowing them to use a single copy of Windows to install on their machines without having to enter a key or activate.

This is why there are restrictions on the recovery discs, if it does not find info in the BIOS to check that a HP machine_they could be used to install on any & every machine without necessary license key.

  • Compaq Presario C700 video card

I have a Compaq Presario C700 computer laptop (C769US) and I was wondering if I would be able to upgrade the video card to play Fallout 3, that I bought yesterday. The card that is here right now is 'Intel 965 Chipset family' or something of the kind.

I would like to put this here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8761878&type=product&id=1202650704648

It will go? My father said something about PCI and AGP, I don't know how to find out if mine is PCI.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    -Chris

If you put beside the video card laptop I think that you see that there is no way to put it there. The video card is almost as large as the laptop. We receive a few tons of these posts here these days. But the answer has not changed. There is no upgrade for your video that is remotely possible in this life on this planet. Cannot be done, no cases in any way. The video is a chip that is soldered to the motherboard with the set traces to work only with this specific chip. Even the best ubertech with mad fine welding skills could not do anything else's work. When you buy a laptop get the graph and the processor you want and need for now and the future. If you need something better it means a new laptop not a level 98% of the time. When you buy a game controls the minimum requirements and see if your computer can meet.

Sorry if I sound a little harsh but as I said we get 2 or 3 of these questions every day and I blame the computer manufacturers (HP, for example) and retailers such as Best Buy for not educating the public about what they are buying.

  • Compaq Presario C700 stops frequently

I have Compaq Presario C700. There: 1.73 GHz Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2370, up to 2 GB DDR2,

Recently, I noticed that the laptop stops frequently when I'm listening to music, watching movies, or sometimes when you work. I did some research on the problem and I found that most people say find the manual on COMPAQ.com and watch the plug in order to open the laptop, then spray/clean fans / or heating of the parts. Is it the right thing to do.

Several times a laptop overheating is directly related to the cooling of the processor. The main culprit is the fan. The fan draws in air from the bottom and it blows on the side. It will also suck in the hair, dust and other debris. Often this kind of thing is trapped by the heat sink and the wire time accumulates in a layer that stifles the cool air, go to the processor, making the fan to redouble their efforts.

    Read this:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01657439

What I recommend is to take a canned air and blow out vents in the side and the underside of the laptop. If after that you still have overheating problems and your laptop is under warranty, you can take your laptop to an authorized Service Center HP and ask them to clean the fan and the heat sink. You can check your warranty here:

    http://www13.itrc.HP.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyResults.do?admit=109447627+1286541891570+28353475

If it is out of warranty, consider looking for the service manual for your specific model, in the manual it is patterns to disassemble the laptop. It is much easier that remove a motherboard, so don't feel intimidated by the idea of clean the fan. Also you can remove the heat sink and then remove the thermal grease and apply a new layer, which also helps reduce heat related issues.
