PRI Master Hard disk S.M.A.R.T Status Bad

I have a Hp mini 110 net book with a windows xp what OS and I cannot start at the login window. It displays a blue screen for 1 second and it restarts. Now, it says disk error and it won't pass this point. I tried to do a primary disk hard test but it failed and he said doesn't have an unknown element. I was wondering if this hp mini has a safe mode because I can not find it. I have to send it back to hp to install a new hard drive and reinstall windows xp OS. Help-thanks.

Hi nhim,.

1. What is the exact error message?
2. don't you make changes before the show?

It seems that there is a problem with the hard drive. We recommend first to get in touch with HP to diagnose and check if the hard drive is working properly.

Try the following steps to disable the automatic restart in case of system error and check the result.
a. start your computer and press the F8 key to display the advanced startup options.
b. Select Disable automatic restart on system failure and press to enter.
c. check if Windows starts.

Also try to start your computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

    Can someone tell me what this means and how to fix it? Thank you!

    This means that the CHIP think that your hard disk has failed and must be replaced.  If the disc cannot be replaced immediately you should not take chances and backup the disk while you still can, if you do not you may lose all the files on the disk!

    SMART isn't always reliable 100% so you should get a diagnosis from the manufacturer of your hard disk drive and run it to see if it agrees with the SMART utility.  If the drive diagnostic utility reports the disc as failure, you should replace the disk as soon as.

  • ? Primary Master Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T. Bad Status. WARNING: Return immediately-up your data and replace your hard drive.

    When I start my computer, an error page appears. At the bottom of the page it says, "Primary Master Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad." WARNING: Return immediately-up your data and replace your hard drive. Press F1 for Setup, F2 to continue"I was just pressing F2 and then it starts normally, but whenever I start my computer, the same page comes up.

    Is this serious or it could be something minor? Do you have any suggestions? What does that mean? What should I do? I followed some information in the forums of someone who has had the same problem and finally, they fixed them, they said that when they made a prior microsoft update what they where missing a Parcer.

    Note: I tried to save my data before, but something goes wrong and the backup will not be completed.

    You can download the program for diagnotics HUtil Samsung http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/downloads/Hutil210_iso_for_CDROM_drive.zip

    It's an ISO image then unzip the file and write the ISO image to a CD.

    Then restart the PC and booting with the CD. To do this, you must change the priority/boot order in the BIOS to boot from the CD first.

    Once you have started the program HUtil it will detect your hard drive Samsung. Select the hard disk.

    Enter the main Menu on the tool. Go into the menu of the tool and enter Auto diagnosis. Enable diagnostics to run, once done it will ask you if you want to perform a surface analysis - enter Yes. The analysis of surface will take some time to complete. If errors are found, it reported.

    Once more I recommend you backup your data as soon as possible, preferably before executing HUtil program.

    For more information on the program of HUtil you can go here: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/Support_HUTIL.html

    Write when the cache is enabled: when data are written back to the hard drive, it is written in the cache that is much faster to actually write to the hard drive. An acknowledgement of receipt is then sent by saying that the data has been written on the hard disk, when in fact it does not. In this way so that the data is actually being written to the hard drive to the rest of the system can continue to work. However memory cache is volatile, if the power goes off, the data in the cache is destroyed and if it has not been written to disk hard and yet he's lost.

    If your settings are correct. Usually the drives are configured for performance and the write cache is enabled. While flash drives and memory cards are configured for the fast-moving and write cache is disabled.

    I get this message at startup ' 3rd Master Hard Disk:S.M.A.R.T. bad condition. " -What this means and how can I solve this problem?

    SMART is a technology on newer computers that allows the computer to monitor the health of hard drives in your computer. Something happened to one of your readers that detects the smart as a problem, and she's trying to warn you proactively to this topic before it fails.

    It may be also that you have installed a very old hard drive that does not support the CHIP and the monitor reports that it can not read the drive status.

    So depending on your level of knowledge and experience, you can watch to replace the hard disk that is reported, or you can disable SMART followed to make the message disappears. The second option but then means if it is really a failure, it is likely any work stoppage or corrupted so data you do note to solve.

  • Help, please! A master hard disk partition information lost and cannot start the Vista system

    I have Vista with my dell desktop computer.  I guess I got a virus that has deleted/messed my main hard drive.  All of sudden my computer was dead and when I try to restart, I found I can't boot the system.  I loaded the DVD for the resettlement of Dell to come with the computer and try to install it.  But it shows "Disk 0 unallocated space" with 222 GB and 'Disk 0 Partition 2 Recovery' with 10 GB.  I could not install Vista on the first, as it says "Windows must be installed on a partition formatted in NTFS.

    How could I solve this problem?  I could not allow me to format the drive because there a lot of data, that I just can't lose.

    Any help is very welcome!

    Problem with the recovery process, contact Dell at the link above.

    It's recovery process from Dell, NOT Microsoft.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try this to save your data:
    Data recovery:
    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    See you soon...

  • installation and replacement of hard disk in the computer hp mini 110

    I need help replacing a hard drive on my computer hp mini 110.

    HP Mini 110

    Windows XP sp3

    I just posted a question about the installation of the operating system.  Fixed that issue but found another.  I installed the operating system and everything was fine.  I started to install the drivers and applications, and after you have installed hp applications the pc has restarted and came up with a message saying:

    PRI Master Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD, Backup and replace, press F1 to resume.

    PRI Master: WDC WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1 13.01A13 ULTRA DMA MODE 5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and BAD Status

    I press F1 and it started.  I was still a few drivers requiring an installation.  Since I've installed just everything, there was not much to save.

    I installed a different driver and rebooted and this time I hit F1 it didn't start.  I got a black page with a line of blinking cursor and nothing else happens.

    After some research, I've seen it's a bad hard drive.

    My question is:

    Is this something that can be replaced at home.  I can read the instructions.  What I need to get the same hard drive, or are there others that will work?  If I can do it at home, where can I find instructions to replace it and what is the best place to get the hard drive.  Is this what I need to know.

    Thanks for anyone's help.  I'm sure I look like an idiot, but it's something I've not done in a laptop.  I replaced and internal hard drive in a desktop computer.  I remember myself set to land and out and plug in another.  I had the chance then because the computer had 2 hard drives.

    I guess I'll need to reformat the drive and start over again with the installation of the operating system etc.

    Would I be able to upgrade and install vista or windows 7?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi, Tamara:

    Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop, which also lets you complete the You-Tube video.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01895806.PDF

    You can buy a 2.5 "laptop hard drive size 160 GB SATA II, should not exceed 500 GB.

    You can get a 5 400 rpm model or a model of 7 200 RPM.

    The difference between the two is that you will get better performance (faster seek times) a disc of 7 200 RPM.

    However, it will be at the expense of the life of the battery between charges.

    So, what you choose, it's up to you.

    Here is a link to a site that sells hard drives of laptop.

    They have great prices and there are a lot of feedback from customers that may be useful for you to decide which one to go with.

    http://www.Newegg.com/store/subcategory.aspx?subcategory=380&name=laptop-hard-drives

    According to specifications, your computer can run Windows 7 well.

    I recommend edit you your message and remove any reference to the discussion of smuggling copies of Windows 7. These assignments are not in accordance with the rules of the forum.

    In addition, please keep in mind that a lot of these free copies of Windows can be loaded with traps that can steal your personal data and do other nasty things, including perhaps turn your PC into a Bot who committed illegal activities.  It is not worth it for me to install such illegally of is software and possibly have the bust of the FBI to the bottom of my door and arrest me for something that I didn't know that was going on with my PC.

    It seems that the recovery XP disks are available for your PC, even if the link is broken, so if you want to reinstall XP, contact HP by telephone and you can get a set for less than $20.00.

    Otherwise, you can get a game online site for $27.00 + shipping costs.

    You get a legitimate copy of Windows OEM 7 (relatively) cheap at the link below.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16832116983

    Or you can pay double that and get the commercial version, which you can transfer to another PC. With the OEM edition, you can only use it once.

  • Dv6 hard disk 3F0 problem

    I have a HP DV6-6001TX with the 6770 m GC. I tried to boot my laptop for a while now, but every time he says hard disk not detected and undetected boot device. I tried to secure the connection from the HARD disk several times without success. What should I do now?

    Hello

    It is perhaps that your hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

    As a new trial and to help eliminate a problem with the Sata controller, try the following.

    Follow the procedure below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in part 3 of 'Try' to see if the operating system is running.  The option 'Try' runs the operating system from the CD without having to install on your HARD drive.  If it works Ok (it will be slow running on a CD), this would tend to confirm that the problem is only with the HARD drive.

    http://www.Ubuntu.com/desktop/get-Ubuntu/download

    If your laptop is still under warranty, you can contact HP and arrange for the replaced HARD disk - you can check your warranty status.

    If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

    If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

    Hello

    1. you are trying to attach an internal hard drive?

    You may need to contact the device manufacturer for more information on the physical connection and the BIOS (Basic input output) configuration when you fix the hard disk.

    Note:

    BIOS change / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Once you configure the hard drive in the BIOS, you can consult the links below for more information about how to partition and format a hard disk using the Windows XP Setup program

    Hello, I have a portege a100 laptop, I want to buy a Dvd for my laptop burner and one in mind, even if I need to put my hard drive in slave mode first, that the dvd drive is set as master.
    My hard drive model is MK1032GAX, could someone tell me that it is possible to do so, before buying the dvd burner to 100%.

    Hello

    To my knowledge it s is not possible. The technology of the laptop is different, and you can't compare it with the desktop PC.
    As far as I know, the settings are fixed and you cannot change it. I think that the HARD disk controller is set master and you need to buy a compatible CD/DVD player.
    Player settings are different and the Toshiba service partner can give you more details about compatible CD/DVD players.

    Hello

    The BIOS should recognize the new HARD disc without any installed SATA drivers!
    The SATA drivers are needed only for Windows OS!

    Please check the position of the jumper on the HARD drive. Usually, these riders are avaialbel for 3.5 HARD disk but some 2.5 drives hard also supports a rider where the master/slave/c-salt settings could be changed

  • Satellite L350 - persistent master hard drive errors

    I've known persistent main hard disk errors. Errors, in their first incarnation, were windows freeze at loading screens and screensavers, and then developed by stopping Windows to boot at all. It certainly would not start normally and sometimes would not start in safe mode. I used the recovery partition to restore the computer to its factory settings. A day or two later, the same symptoms began to manifest again, although not as severely. The hard drive errors, freeze on screens and loading screen savers.

    My question is: if I re - format the hard drive master, thus destroying the recovery partition, I could then just restore windows from a newly formed recovery CD? And, in addition, what is the probability that reformatting the drive hard completely would have an effect on the frequency of errors?
    If the hard drive is simply borked, format or not? And if yes, what is the next step?
    Could I restore windows on my drive hard slave and give up on the master?

    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

    Hey Buddy,

    Are you sure that all these problems related to the HARD drive at 100%? How did you check that?

    I don t mean it s not the HARD drive, theoretically, you could be right but before you think to change the HARD drive please use a diagnostic tool special for HDD as Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/support/downloads/#DFT

    This tool can check your HARD drive for bad sectors.

    If the HARD features of bad sectors disk, formatting will not help you because the sectors are physically damaged. With other words, the only chance is to exchange it.

    But if you have already used the recovery feature of HARD Toshiba drive to reinstall Windows you can say s that no problem of software and it must be hardware related. ;)
