Printer does not not on Windows 7
I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7. I have a HP deskjet 940c printer (old but worked fine with XP). I can't find my original installation disk. How can I get the drivers to use the printer? This printer does not have a USB port, only parallel.
Drivers Deskjet 940 are delivered through Windows Update as described in this document. The Deskjet 940 has a USB port, it is hard to see, but is located next to the parallel port on the back of the printer.

Why my printer does not print with Windows 8?
Did you just upgraded or purchased a new computer with Windows 8, and now you can't get your printer to work? If so, this can help you. Many people have questions about the installation of their printer on a new OS. This will help you answer these questions and make sure you get everything installed.
Before you start
Before you try to install the printer on a Windows 8, you should check to make sure that the printer is compatible with the new OS. The link below will give you a list of printers that will work in Windows 8.
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03168175
If you have upgraded your computer to Windows 8 formed another version of Windows, make sure all software uninstall complete of your printer. It should still print, but to use all the features, you will need to reinstall the software, if available.
Another thing to consider is how you want to connect the printer to the computer.
- USB. You must ensure that you have a USB cable which does not exceed 6 feet (about 2 m). Be sure to connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use a USB hub.
- Ethernet cable. Make sure you have the network configuration, you have a free cable port on the router, and you have an available Ethernet cable.
- Wireless. You must ensure that you have the configuration of the wireless network, and you have the password of the wireless network.
1. installation Via USB
Installation via USB in Windows 8 became much simpler for users of HP printer. In other versions of the Windows operating system, you need to launch the installation and wait that it asks for the USB connection. If you do not, you will need to uninstall the printer from the devices and printers folder and then launch the installation. In Windows 8, which won't be a problem. If you plug the USB cable from the printer and then install the printer software, work remains. Now for in depth instructions on installing the printer via the USB port click on the link below.
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03521864
2 installation Via an Ethernet network connection
For an Ethernet connected printer, the installation is disconcerting. All you have to do is to connect the printer to the network. Once you have done so, Windows 8 will automatically install the drivers for you. Then, all you have to do is install the rest of the software, if available. It's really as simple as that.

3 installation Via a wireless network connection.
For a wireless printer, network installation is disconcerting. All you have to do is to connect the printer to the network. Once you have done so, Windows 8 will automatically install the drivers for you. Then, all you have to do is install the rest of the software, if available. It is roughly the same as just Wireless Ethernet installation.

Alternative installation methods
With Windows 8, the drivers of many printers are installed with the operating system. These are called pilots InOS, since they come built-in to the operating system. If you have one of these printers, you should have to do simply connect it to the computer via USB, or connect to the network via Ethernet or wireless. Once you have that makes Windows will take care of the rest. There are other methods of installation of your printer if normal methods don't work for some reason any. You can install the printer is using the printer, or through Windows Updates Setup Wizard.
Set printer wizard:

I upgraded to Windows 10, when I tried to use my scanner, I get the message - the printer does not see the PC. Is there a way to get around this?
Hello
First of all, remember to install the communication driver USB LaserJet of HP (DOT4) below:
http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/readIndex?sp4ts.Oid=445197&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4192
Know that basic scanning capabilities only are offered through Windows Fax and Scan and only via a USB connection, not the network:

Windows Vista - default printer does not have a default
From: Freddie Kang
I have implemented several printers and have an assigned as the "default" printer network printer I noticed that this status of 'default' for this printer does not remain so after I stop and restart. It seems to default to the fax printer. I then have to reset the printer selected as 'default' to be able to print. This not happens whenever I stop - sometimes, the default printer is as default.
Someone at - it similar experiences? Solution to the problem?
Thank you.
Best regards, S.F. Kang
From: Cari (MS - MVP)
It will default to the first he concluded after opening session, so in your case, I think the connection to the network is taken longer, that so he finds the fax first.

OFFICEJET J4680 ALL IN ONE PRINTER does not print after installing Windows 7
THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN A MONTH. I STARTED WITH WINDOWS VISTA. HP SUPPORT ADVISED LATER FOR THIS WINDOWS 7 WORKS BETTER FOR MY PRINTER. NOW I HAVE INSTALLED WINDOW 7 AND I GOT THE PHONE SUPPORT TO GO ON MY COMPUTER AND SET IT UP. EVERYTHING WORKED AS SUPPOSED, PRINTING, SCANNING. THE NEXT DAY I TRIED TO PRINT SOMETHING AND I WENT BACK TO SQUARE ONE. The SCREEN LIITLE ON THE PRINT JOB CAME AND SAID THAT the PRINTER does NOT PRINT. I WENT TO THE HP SOLUTION CENTER AND A NOTE SAID THAT THE PRINTER IS DISCONNECTED. I RETURNED AND COPIED MY NETWORK CONFIG. AND THE WIRELESS TEST. EVERYTHING IS RUNNING WELL HUNG OF THE PRINTER. THE DEFAULT PRINTER IN THE RIGHT IMAGE. THE ONLY THING I NOTICED WAS IN THE PORT AREA. UNDER THE WINDOW VISTA, I GOT TWO PORTS. ONE WAS FOR THE PRINTER AND OTHER FAX. WHEN THE HP PRINTER HAS BEEN REINSTALLED, I DON'T KNOW IF IT STARTED WITH ONLY ONE PORT. THE PORT IS ENABLED BY IT AND HAS THE FAX FROM WORD TO THE END ON WINDOWS VISTA, BOTH PORTS HAVE THE SAME INFORMATION, EXCEPT A EU FAX OF WORD AT THE END ANY HELP ON WHAT SE PAST.
I JUST INSTALL WINDOW 7, MY OFFICEJET J4680 ALL IN ONE PRINTER. NOW IT WON'T PRINT. THE DAY BEFORE, IT WORKED.
Hey 123 problems,.

LaserJet 1320: Hp printer does not not on Windows 10
I just recently upgraded to Windows 10 and the HP LaserJet 1320 printer does not work. I went to the site and downloaded the correct driver (64-bit). The printer appears in the printer list when I go to devices and printers, but can not choose the printer when I go to print something. If I go into settings > devices in Windows, I'll see the printer listed, but I can not set the default printer, and it says "Driver is unavailable."
Is there a better driver, or a way to fix this?
Thank you.
It is connected through the USB port, and of course, I tried connecting directly first, who did install a driver, but he had the same result as the download of the driver separately. I was finally able to make it work by installing a different driver, which I don't remember, but this has been resolved weeks ago.

Windows 7 - Add printer does not work
I recently tried to install a new printer on a laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate. After trying this, I can no longer add a new printer or print to my existing printers. If I try to add a new printer, a message appears saying:
Cannot install the printer. The print processor does not exist.
If I try to print to an existing printer, the computer claims that the printer does not exist. Is it a good way to "reset" the Windows printing subsystem? I'm really at my intelligence end with this question and don't want to be forced to reinstall Windows to correct this problem.
I checked the Windows spooler service and it is running and doesn't seem to be generating errors in the event viewer. I also met some previous posts that said you may be able to install a new printer with a generic driver first and then change it, but it does not. Eventually a recommendation on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi AnimeDayDreamer,
(a) what is the brand of your printer that you are trying to install?(b) you are trying to connect the printer to a network?Use your administrator account to install the printer and print.
If this does not help, temporarily disable all security software and then try to install the printer and print from the printer, follow the steps mentioned below
Note: Allow all security software after you perform the troubleshooting steps. If disabling the security software doesn't help, printer Uninstall completely from programs and features. After that, restart the computer and re-install the latest compatible drivers and check if you are able to install. If nothing helps, you can create a new user account and install the printer.

There are only drivers for Vista at http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=us&s=bsd&cs=04&l=en&DriverId=R151559.

I had a recurring problem with random periods where my printer does not print and I get a message saying that my printer spool does not work. How can I fix it?
Hi LoraSwander,
· What is the number and model of the printer?
· Do you remember all the recent changes on the computer before the show?
· What is the service pack installed?
· What is the full error message that you receive with the error code as appropriate?
For now, try to run the fix it from the link below and check off the results: printing problems and printing errors: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/printing_problems/en-us?entrypoint=lightbox
