Printers HP Officejet 5740:5740

My printer is about a month. I had a variety of problems, usually when the copy.  Examples: '1) paper tray empty' when he had a lot of paper, 2) "ink empty" referring to the black cartridge when there is still ink remaining and 3) "remove and install the indicated ink cartridge, maing it is correctly installed...» "" "all showing a red 'X' as if there is no black ink cartridge in the printer, but there is a black ink cartridge and it print well in black.    In addition, he occasionally says "Printing cancelled" at all times, but the error message does not disappear.  I was able to successfully copy & print periodically, but the bugs seem to keep coming to the top.

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. Because the problem persists and affects the function of copy on your machine, I believe that there is always one occurring question programming specifically. Now I will send you a private Message with instructions on how to perform a Semi full Reset programming on your HP Officejet.

  • OfficeJet 5740: Proliferation of printers/queue

    I had to remove and reset my printer several times, for reasons that I won't go into maintenant.* but now when I go to print, I see that my list of available printers includes 'copies' of the same printer (copy 1, etc.) as well as the versions that I deleted.  Most of the time they do not appear in my file devices and printers or in Device Manager, just in my list of available printers that access from within an application, such as Outlook.  Some of these even have aligned upwards documents representing previous unsuccessful attempts at printing.

    So, before that I have once again remove and reset my printer, how can I get rid of these bodies 'Phantom' for my printer?  Is this something that I must go to the registry to do?  (Please say no!)  And is there a better way to remove a printer completely, not to mention what to do just in the folder devices and printers?

    I have a 5740 which is defined as a remote wireless printer by itself in my home network.

    Recently, I received the message 'printer is in an error state' when I press print and found out the print job will be lance automatically, only after I turned the printer off and restarted. What happened several times. I tried to use HP & Doc Scan printing, but this did not help.

    Appreciate your advice on the following points: -.

    1. What is the cause for this?

    2. connecting the printer via the USB port on my HP All in one PC would help eliminate this recurring issue?

    3. If Yes, should I uninstall the printer software first?

    4. always print wireless from my laptop or mobile devices when the printer is connected via a cable to my PC?

    What do I have to uninstall and reinstall the software for printing these devices as well?

    5. when I reinstalled the software, it come a last step where it will ask me to register so far HP ink. As I have already registered for the program, what should I do to allow me to complete the installation of the software without duplicating a new series of HP ink instant registration?

    Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printer problem.

    I understand that you use a HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one printer with a Windows 10 computer and you need to restart the printer to clear a State of 'error', so the printer will print. I would like to help with that.

    There are also a few different reasons why something like this can happen. It could possibly be network or firewall related, or maybe even related software.

    I would like to begin by downloading and running the tool HP Print and Scan Doctor to check the installed printer software. This tool can diagnose and solve many problems of printing software and printer.

    You can also check to make sure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. On the Control Panel Home screen controle control printer, drag your finger from right to left on the screen and select Setup. In the menu select Maintenance of the printerconfiguration, and then select update of the printer, and then look for the updates of the printer.

    If the printer doesn't have the printing problem with PC and not with cell phones and mobile devices, you can try following the steps described in this document of support - printer is offline (Windows).

    If you plan to use a USB between PC and the printer connection, you do not need to uninstall the software, you just remove the printer devices and printers on the computer and connect the USB cable.

    You can always the printer wirelessly with other devices if you have a computer with a USB cable.

    Finally, you need not re-register with the HP Instant ink. You can close the windows when they open after you have installed the software.

  • HP Officejet 5740 e-All-In-One: multiple frustrations with printer e-all-in-one-hp officejet 5740.

    I have a HP Officejet 5740-e all-in-one that has all sorts of problems: periodically decides not to print documents from one of my laptops HP or Lenovo.  Do not accept ink cartridges HP Instant ink or HP ink cartridges purchased in a store.  Unable to get decent support for this HP product.  Is essentially a disposable item now?

    As far as I know that there is no user replaceable parts in these lower end home use printers. So if nine ink cartridges do not work, and seeing that the cost of the printer is less than $ 100, Yes... it's basically a Jet printer away. Wish I had better news for you.

  • OfficeJet 5740: Cannot print duplex automatically and can not connect wireless

    So, I recently bought a new laptop for academic purposes. Back in September, I bought the HP Officejet 5740 because it could print wireless and can print double sided also.

    Everything worked perfectly fine when I was using Windows 8. In microsoft office, that I could see the option to print double-sided and had no difficulty, printing or the connection to the wireless printer.

    Then, I upgraded my computer to windows 10. I downloaded the hp driver and tried to add the printer several times and did not get it to connect successfully. Moreover, I see more two-sided printing option. I have the option to print one, or to manually return the documents to make it double sided.

    I downloaded the driver installed the printer and uninstalled the printer a LOT, a LOT of time with nothing doesn't. Please help me. I really only print in powerpoint and word, so it is very important to have this ability.

    For the connectivity problem, I would say the Print and Scan doctor, you can download it from HP to http://www.hp.com/go/tools.

    For the duplex issue make sure the duplex module is selected.  Click on start, devices and printers, click with the right button on the Officejet 5740, select printer, device settings, both installable and set properties automatic duplexing on installed unit, apply, OK.

  • OfficeJet 5740: using the photo tray

    having the same problem as the other. Cannot get the printer to use the photo with photo tray 4 tray x 6.  But I did specify in setings to use the photo tray.  My new 5741 DID see and recognize the tray and paper but invariably printed on paper 8 x 10.  ?????  using windows 8.1 and photo gallery.

    I read your post on your Officejet 5740 do not print to the photo thew tray and wanted to meet you with my suggestions. If you have not tried to uninstall the printer software, restart the PC and then reinstall the printer once again, try it. You can run the Installation Wizard for Windows HP printer to find and install the printer for you.

    Let me know what happens when you try to print to the photo tray afterwards. Try another program to see if that makes a difference.

  • HP Officejet 5740: Why HP Utility say that my softward scanning must be updated?

    I had 3 scans this afternoon.   Tonight, I tried to start a new search and got the error message on the front of the printer that it is not connected to the computer.   Also, I realize that for about the past 6 hours, 3 files I sent to print, not print.

    The utility HP says I need to download the current software.    The software part of the HP Web site says that the last update the software of the printer for my model was done in December 2015.

    So, what should I do?  Simply download and install the software again?

  • Install HP Officejet 5740 & USB connection problems

    I recently bought a HP all-in-one OfficeJet 5740 printer for my desktop Dell XPS 8700-(Windows 8.1) and attempted to install, using the USB connection option. I was informed by the instructions of configuration to go online to a Dell website for the latest version of the installation software to download if I had access to the internet. I have DL'ed software and it apparently installed OK-(aucune erreur ou quoi que ce soit pour indiquer qu'il n'a pas abouti). Once finished with the installation of the software, I got to the window option connection-(wireless, usb cable ethernet cable). I chose the option of usb cable, however after having to then connect the USB cable to the printer and the computer via the usb cable, it tries to connect, but alerted me, stating; "Failed connection to printer, printer was not able to connect successfully via the usb cable. I tried this several times-(par moi-même et remote assist avec Support ordinateur Dell). I had the same problem last week when he tried with my old HP Officejet 6100, which I wanted to replace. I ran the program of doctor printing/scanning HP on the 5740 and it lists the printer and the software installed, however the HP printer install lists assistant the complete software package for the printer is not installed and some basic features drivers may be missing or damaged. Also when I go into Control Panel, then devices/printers, it displays the icon of 5740, however after rt - by clicking on the printer icon, instead of the regular menu that comes up to the top-(showing the complete properties, select this printer as the default printer, etc.), it displays a menu of smaller selections very-little (who don't understand not the "select as default printer"). I tried downloading the printer software two ways-(via the HP website on line 1, and then click the installation CD supplied with the printer, the same results. The printer was purchased 11/15/2014 and seems works very well-(tirages test-page, page d'alignement, etc.), but I can't print anything, and apparently it can not connect via the USB-(* j'ai acheté un nouveau câble usb 2.0 hier et, utilisé pour écarter la possibilité d'avoir un mauvais câble). My Dell computer is only 10 months old, and I upgraded to 8.1 Windows back on 25 October.  The USB ports on the computer all seem to work properly when connected to another USB device other than the 5740 printer.  What is the software apparently is not fully installed, with some missing drivers or, possibly, USB drivers should be updated? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

    Thanks for responding, but I was able to get the printer installed with the help of diagnostic, remotely in line with my computer manufacturer support staff. He was determined to be a software problem because of a recent update of Windows 8.1. Thanks for the effort!

  • OfficeJet 5740 e not install correctly

    I try to install via USB. The Fax installed but the printer and scanner will not. Have uninstalled and downloaded the drivers a few times. I tried 2 new and 2 old usb cables. 3 different tech support people couldn't understand it either. Last solution was to do a full restore, which would be impossible because I would lose a lot non-recoverable software. The drivers cannot recognize the part priner/scanner unit. I've tried 8 different usb ports (1.1, 2.0 4ea 2ea. 3.0 2ea.) does not. Today I borrowed a friends fully operational xp pc and get the same exact error message "the specified module is not found. I wonder if the drivers have never been tested with an xp system. My xp system runs on other all-in-one usb without problem.

    Has anyone reading this successfully installed one of them on a xp operating system? Any advice would be welcome.

    Sorry to hear that you still have the problem!  I have another suggestion that might contribute to the addition of the printer!

    You should be able to add the printer using a different printer driver.  The best driver to use is the HP Deskjet 990c driver.

    To add the printer using the HP Deskjet 990c driver:

    1. Open fax machines and printers
    2. Click on add a printer
    3. Select "local printer attached to this computer" and click Next
    4. Select LPT:1 for the print port, and then click Next
    5. Choose HP on the left side
    6. Choose HP Deskjet 990c on the right side, and then click Next
    7. Name the Officejet 5740 printer, and then click Next
    8. You don't need to share the printer
    9. Click next and print a test page!

    Here is a link to a video to manually add the printer HP for Windows XP.  In the video, they do not choose the HP Deskjet 990c driver, but I recommend you do! Just follow the first part of the video at 01:40.

    If this does not remove the printer in printers and faxes.  Follow the steps above to add a printer again.  When you get to step 4, instead of using LPT:1 see if you can select USB because the printer is connected to USB.

    I just bought a HP 5740 and have implemented to print wireless from my PC, iphone 6, notebk.

    I have the following questions & any advice would be much appreciated:-

    1. is there a limit on the number of wireless devices, I can connect to the printer?

    2. when using the Automatic Document Feeder for scanning/printing of documents, scanned images or impressions appear slightly

    biased.

    Is this likely to be a problem with the ADF?

    I thought possible is to refine the ADF paper tabs more far but I worry about the documents in

    could be stuck causing a jam.

    Welcome to the HP Support forum.

    I understand that you have purchased a HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one printer you have connected wireless to a 10 PC Windows, but also an iPhone 6 and a notebook. I will be happy to answer your questions about the limits to the number of wireless devices that can be connected and the output of the ADF is slightly biased.

    There is no real limit to the number of wireless devices can connect to the printer. Devices are actually connecting to the printer on the wireless network of your router, so that it really on the number of the router wireless connections can handle. I've seen some cheaper model routers handle 5 wireless comfortably, but once again, it is more on the router and what are wireless devices on the network the router wireless.

    For the unbalanced output when using the issue of the ADF, you definitely want that paper is loaded properly, and the paper guides are to the edge of the sides of the paper without being so tight that it is originally the paper not to remain flat in the ADF. If you have problems tilt when using the ADF, here is a document that can help - the ADF (ADF) documents do not choose paper. It is a generic document that covers all the printers with ADFs.

    Printers are manufectured for a specific market, a printer purchased from the Italy will have all available languages...

    If the Greek is not an option in the menu, it cannot be added to the printer.
