Printers not transferred with Easy Transfer

Maybe I missed something, but I don't see an option to select printers when you create the download file. Anyway, after installing, I ran easy transfer, and he seems to have got everything except my printers. I travel for work and visit half a dozen offices around the world and feel for them. Not to mention 3 local desktop printers, etc. To re - install each printer will be a significant headache. Is there a reason why do they not appear during transfer? I still have my original disc (installed a new for Win7), with XP Pro and can still shoot her if necessary.

Advice/opinion?

THX

I confirmed that register users printer connection data are transferred by the application.  You will not see printers, and printers in the peripheral location until the printer drivers are copied from the print server.  So for several sites, you won't see the connections until the machine can connect to the print server.  I expect only the spooler to attempt the connection during startup, so remember stop and start the print spooler service after you connect to the new network. I followed the instructions from MS for the migration of my PC to Win 7 of WIN XP. I used Easy Transfer to save my settings on an external hard drive. After Installing Win 7 as a custom installation, I used Easy Transfer instructions to transfer user accounts and settings back to my PC. Then I started to reinstall my programs. When I reinstalled FireFox 28 bookmarks were not completed. Number of cases was in the list of bookmarks, but all the URLS that I have saved in these files were not there. I went on the external hard drive I used easy transfer, but there is only one program listed when I click on wants to redo the easy transfer. I don't think I want to do. How can I restore my favorites?

You could have found now, but if not, you should find it under:

    C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

If this folder is not visible, please see my link earlier in section of Microsoft technical support for the display of the hidden files and folders.

I recommend leaves all the contents of this file and make copies of what you need to (do not move files); This will allow you to make the future recoveries if necessary. This article lists the most interesting files: recovery of data from an old profile.

To restore an old backup of your bookmarks, it is easier to copy the last file in the old bookmarkbackups subfolder to a location such as Documents or desktop. Then use the option "Choose file" when you select the backup to restore. Restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer

Yes, but it is strongly recommended to use an external storage for backup device.

  • Download & install Windows Easy Transfer

I am trying download & install Easy Transfer from the site Web of M/S to this PC and have problems.

No. I tried to go at support.Microsoft.com, who told to download/install Windows Easy Transfer on two PCs, the former with Windows XP and a new one with Windows 7. The new PC (Windows & a W.E.T. already installed, but this one, old (Windows XP Hpme, does not, so I went to this PC programs: Accessories/system files/tools transfer, but still unable to get this to work o.))

You are using the wrong program.

Windows XP Home Edition does not have Windows Easy Transfer, so you went somewhere on the Microsoft site and downloaded something.  You should have gone to the web page linked above, where you would have had 4 choices: XP 32-bit, XP 64 bit, Vista 32 bit and Vista 64-bit.  Did you download the version appropriate for your system (32-bit XP almost certainly)?

Assuming that you have downloaded the version appropriate for your system, you should have and then double-click on the icon named "wet7xp_x86.exe" to install Windows Easy Transfer for Windows 7.  The start for this icon must be at the bottom of your start > list all programs.  It is NOT the same as the program that starts the start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > files and Settings Transfer Wizard.  This is the old version, which is designed for the transfer of files, etc. of earlier versions of Windows TO Windows XP.

  • Can I use Easy Transfer to transfer my files and settinigs if my old Win 7 PC has a broken video card?

The video in my old Win 7 machine is broken.  I am particularly interested in the transfer of all of the settings on my new computer Win 8.  The old machine has an external hard drive for backup purposes, but I do not know if this includes the parameters or a few files.

Can I use easy transfer to access the internal hard drive, even if this computer has no video?  If there is no way to do it, my external backup disk has the parameters that I'm looking for and is accessible with Easy Transfer?  Other options?

You must be able to see and access Windows Easy Transfer of two computers - they must be running and able to interact with. He has no way to initiate a transfer to a computer that has access to a second computer, without checking on the second computer you establish a transfer.  No work around, no other way to do it.  None. Your backup drives or external work not either except maybe to find a few files that can be moved.

  • Easy transfer - implementation of new user names

I'm moving all my stuff to another computer using the seriously bad named 'easy' transfer - up to now very step has been atrocious.  I'm in what I thought was the last step - load data to an external hard disk in the destination computer.  On the destination computer discs had been authorized by my son, is "Virgin."   But at this last stage, I get to a command prompt in Easy Transfer which requires me to create new user names (or re - use previous) for both accounts that we already had.  But everything I put, including the old names, he says just 'mistake of creating user': the name of account, he will accept is former name of my son, and I cannot use this time.  But without giving users the two old names, he won't let me go.  There is absolutely no help available in Easy Transfer and therefore no idea whatever about what is actually wrong or how I can fix.  Help!

  • Downgrade Windows 7 Ultimate, professional, using Windows Easy Transfer

I installed Windows 7 Professional and I have the file transfer of files with me. My Win7 Ultimate was SP1 and I just installed the basic version of Pro. Should I wait for Windows Update to get SP1 until I leave Easy Transfer. I was worried that some applications might have dependencies with SP1 or something.

Also is it good so installing a bunch of software on my new pc and do the Easy Transfer.

    Thank you!

It does not matter if the system is Windows 7 RTM or Windwos 7 SP1, Windows Easy Transfer won't work anyway. Please note that if you change your architecture if Windows Easy Transfer will not work. Easy transfer is only compatible to the front.

  • It is possible to run Easy Transfer after upgrading to Win7 AND AFTER installs all applications?

Update of XP (32 bit) for Win 7 (64-bit).  Transfer easy on the old system and also saved.  Performed a clean install of Windows 7 without any problem.

The instructions say to upgrade Win7, then run to transfer, and THEN install the apps.  Well, I have not read the instructions and correctly installed Win7, installed applications and now need to execute the transfer.

That is problem?  It is even possible to run easy transfer now?  Should I reinstall all applications again?

(I'm not worried for the part 32-bit to 64-bit, I just included this info with full disclosure).

    Thank you
    brand

Thanks for the post brand.  the transfer is intended to capture data and the status of the user.  He didn't have much to do with the migration of the applications with the exception of the view that it is able to create a report that identifies what applications may need to be installed on the new machine.  in order to integrate the data of the machine inherited from the windows machine 7, we should have run the version of Windows 7 easy transfer on the Windows XP machine before recharging.

If we capture the data of the XP machine before reloading, then we can re-read the data at any time - even after that applications are installed

Here's hoping that you captured user data and the State with easy transfer before you wipe and reload.

  • Where is the driver for Easy Transfer cable end XP?

I bought a new cable Easy Transfer to transfer XP sp3 (Dell Dimension 2300) for Win 7 laptop. When I plug in the cable on your old computer, the Device Manager regnized cable, but shows no driver installed. The CD that came with the cable has no driver. So where can I download this call so 'pilot for older computers XP' in order to talk to win 7 laptop? The driver is assumed installation in XP, no machine computers Win - 7, but must "talk" to Win - 7 later.

    Hello Linnex,

Thank you for your message.  Have you installed the software on your XP computer before you plug the cable?  Have you tried all of these steps?  If so, could you please let us know the results of each step?
If the easy transfer cable is not working properly, you can try a few things to fix the problem. Make sure that you have installed the drivers of the cable easy transfer on your old computer with CD included in the package of cable. If you do not, close Windows Easy Transfer, insert the CD that came with the easy transfer cable into your old computer and follow the instructions on the screen. When it is complete, repeat the transfer process.
USB ports can be another cause of the problem. When Windows Easy Transfer prompts you to connect your computers with the easy transfer cable, try to plug the cable into the other USB ports on your computer.
