  My Photosmart C7280 all in one works fine through a USB cable with my new iMac.  I miss the HP printer icons on my old desktop PC that I use for printing, scanning, etc.  Is there a way I can connect my printer with the iMac so I can use the desktop icons, rather than the printer itself?  Should I reinstall the drivers that came with the printer on the iMac?  I need to download somethings on HP website?  Thanks for your help.

I'm glad to hear that you are able to print correctly on your computer Mac OS X 10.10 to your HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-all-in-one printer. Because your printer is working and you see your device in your dock, it would seem that you are using the correct driver.

  When you run the permissions of the drive stage, it's OK not to check before repairing disk permissions. But it's a good habit in the future to check before the repair as the verification process will help identify all the questions that are found on your computer that will resolve itself with the repair process. However, if everything works you shouldn't have to worry about this step.

  The version of the HP 3.0 software package is supposed to install on your computer by using the Apple updates feature. I suggest only manually downloading as a troubleshooting step because I can't guarantee that your Apple updates will find this package. I'm being proactive making you just do this step manually. Once again, no worries for having your printer no download function and installation of this driver package manually.

  I suggest that you continue using your printer. If, on the road, print starts to act up again just run the steps I provided in my post to manually resolve this problem.

  The only file type that allows to print's email (Gmail account).  When you try to print any type of document from MS Office, PDF, or HTML, the page file is empty.  I restarted my iMac (el Capitan OS) and my printer (Epson XP-400) without change.  Problem just started today (12-16 August).

It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

  1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
  2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

  I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

  At this point, I ask:

  1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
  2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

  Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

  Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

  With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

• I can print at all, EXCEPT the web. No problem with Explorer. Help

  I can't print from the web with Firefox. I can print emails, PDF files, word documents, Excel - BUT the page comes out blank.
  When I use Explorer - I have no problem. I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled. I also reinstalled my printer.
