Priority of the BIOS boot options is not available

Hello. I'm changing the boot on my Windows 8 Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro sequence. I wish that the machine checks first to any bootable USB device before going on the hard drive. This would be necessary in case I would like to recover from a hard drive failure.

When I press F2, I can see the "Boot Device Priority". But there is only 1 option available: Windows Boot Manager.
I'm sure that there are other options available, but I did something to remove!
I disabled the Fast BIOS mode as suggested by some, but the situation persists.
How can I see other boot options?
Kind regards
Maury

On systems with Windows 8 pre-installed, you can access the configuration screens UEFI (BIOS) from Windows 8 Start menu:

  1. Press the windows () key + C or by scanning from the right edge of the screen to open your charms.
  2. Click settings.
  3. Click change PC settings.
  4. In PC settings, select general.
  5. Under advanced boot, click restart now. The system will restart and display the start menu in Windows 8.
  6. In the start menu, select Troubleshooting.
  7. In the troubleshooting menu, select Advanced options.
  8. In the advanced options menu, select settings from the UEFI firmware.
  9. Click reboot to reboot the system and access UEFI (BIOS).

  • HP ENVY 17-n013na: the Legacy BIOS boot option does not work

    Support dear HP team,

I recently bought for laptop HP ENVY 17-n013na .  It came with Windows 8.1. I have to install Windows 7. Unfortunately, the legacy in BIOS boot option does not work for me. Here is detailed information:

    BIOS version: F.04 Rev 5.0

I tried updating to the latest version of the BIOS on the Support site.

To activate the option to boot legacy, I followed the following steps:

    • Entered, BIOS configuration utility
    • Go to the System Configuration
    • > Boot options
    • Changed the setting to the Legacy Support on " Enabled"
    • F10 - save changes & exit

Now, after the restart, if I go once more, configuration of the BIOS Legacy Support is set to disabled. Whenever I have change to active BIOS, Save & Exit, it is up to the people with reduced mobility. Because of that I can't run the installer of Windows 7 DVD.

Please provide any help & suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    ???

Sorry - NO - if the BIOS or UEFI menus do not provide the ability to select a USB key to start, there is no way to add this option.  It must be hard-coded in the firmware first.

  • "protect tones" option is not available for images high resolution (1200 dpi)?

Hi community - I'm publishing some drawings I scanned at 1200 dpi and need to burn/dodge areas of images. However, the protect tones option is not available (can't click on the checkbox) and only works if I decrease the resolution. Help?

What picture Mode do you use and what are the dimensions in pixels of your drawing?

I noticed no check in/8 gray levels, it is ok with RGB/8

1200 dpi/PPP is a printing technique and tell me if the amount of pixels are above what the dodge / / burning tools can take.

Yes, that is: change to IDE in the Bios and it can start from the "upgrade Bay.

But Kinel can be wrongly assume that the origin of the "upgrade Bay" is known to mm. Helvet Paccard. Let's be nice to them and instead assume that "upgrade of the Bay" is obtained by a random generator to confuse the terms.

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

Why you want to reinstall your PC? It could be that you don't need to reinstall Windows, and solutions you could solve, which is recommended.

However, if you want to reinstall your Windows, it's NOT F8, F8 key belongs to Windows and he'll fix the problems. To reinstall Windows, you must use differently for Dell steps:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/KCS/document?c=us&l=en&s=Gen&docid=DSN_347576&isLegacy=true

And for more details, you could visit the Dell Web site and search for your model and find the method to do this, or contact technical support:

  • Satellite L450D PSLY5E freeze during the BIOS update - now does not turn on

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite L450D. I recently tried (unfortunately) update the BIOS after a clean installation, because the FN key no longer working to bring up the toolbar.

Winphlash program froze near the end and the system remained frozen for a good half-hour. The only way out was to remove the battery (as I know in any case).

Now, the system will light with battery in or out and plugged in. I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

Is it possible to fix? Or is it?

Thank you very much for your help.

BTW - I know now not to update the BIOS unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary and well advised.

    Joey

    > I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

The disk HARD isn t damage but the Rom module where the BIOS is stored was not flashed properly.
I guess that this happened because the flash procedure was interrupted.

I'm not sure if this can be fixed perhaps the service guy could flash the ROM module with special disc of crisis of the BIOS.

    I keep fingers crossed
