Problem by setting a default mail on Windows 7 program

I use Outlook Express as my email client. When I try to email a picture to a Web site by right-clicking and selecting the e-mail option, I get a pop-up message box which tells me this: "there are no associated messaging program to perform the requested action. "Install an e-mail program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. Well, I followed the instructions and opened this program, I chose the one that says, "program access and computer by default", then I chose the dot next to "Microsoft windows", because Outlook is Microsoft and comes with windows, but I still can't the system to set a default e-mail program. No! Outlook.com is a web service, not a program. It goes same for webmail that provide most of the suppliers. In order to use functions such as send this page by email or send by e-mail link on a web page, or send to > message recipient in Windows Explorer, you must have an e-mail program client installed on your computer.

All versions of Windows since 1998 has included an e-mail client, to the exception of Windows 7. Several Windows 7 computers are delivered with an e-mail client software installed, often Windows Live Mail. Others do not, so you need to install one yourself. Microsoft produces two - Outlook, which is part of the Office and not free, and Windows Live Mail, part of the free Windows Essentials. Several others are available, some free, some not.

    Although the problem is not the same, please follow the instructions in this article to support to reset the launch Services database. Instead of typing the shell command in the article, I suggest that you copy and paste the web page in the Terminal window. Make sure you only select the entire line. One way to do that is triple - click anywhere in the line.

    If you do not already have a current backup, back up all data before proceeding. You should perhaps log out or restart to see a change.

  • Setting the default path in windows 7

    I use VMware Player 3 in a box of Windows 7.

    I need to set a default path for my virtual machines.

    With Windows XP, I used to edit the %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\preferences.ini file and insert a line that looks like defaultVMPath = "C:\work\vm".

    In Windows 7, I found a file whose name is C:\users\ < username > \AppData\Roaming\VMware\preferences.ini but I can't find the exact syntax for the string, I have to add.

    Is this the right file to edit?

    Can someone please provide ther good syntax of the string to add?

    Can I change the registry instead?

    I solved this problem.

    In Device Manager, I clicked on imaging devices and four things listed there: my two printers hp, brother and my webcam.

    I have a right-click on a printer hp and selected disable.  The message says: "disable this device will stop working.  Do you really want to disable? »

    I selected Yes.  I then did the same for the Brother printer

    Now, when I go in fax and scan, I am not offered a choice of scanning devices.  I go directly to the choice of menus to do the scan with my hp 6110.  With respect to printing, I checked and verified that the hp and the Brother printer work. So the message that gaves from windows to the point where you can choose to disable is misleading.

    Obviously, the camera itself is not disabled.  Only the scanner in the device is disabled.

    Which brings me to another long date general annoyance I have with Microsoft.

    Users should be able to copy and paste the text into any message that is displayed in response to everything that users do.

    I wrote an editorial on this page on the linguistic challenges presented to people who want to solve their own problems.  I propose a solution that would allow users to more effectively solve their own problems.

    Regarding the comments here - why Microsoft has not released a searchable database full error messages?

    Unfortunately, Microsoft did not very basic things that make it easier for users to help themselves.

  • Problem send and receive e-mail with Windows Mail

    For two days, my Windows Mail service ceased to send or receive e-mail addresses. My internet service provider is Comcast. A Comcast tech checked the problem and determined that the problem is with Windows Mail and not Comcast.     Here is the answer.  Log in to Windows mail.  Click on tools.  Access accounts.  Click on your username.  Go to properties.   Click on the box under servers, click the box my server requires a secure outgoing connection. This must be a POP3 connection.  Under incoming mail must say: mail.comcast.net.  Under outgoing mail it should say: smtp.comcast.net go to the Advanced tab, your outgoing mail must be 587 & your incoming mail must be 110.  None of the boxes requiring sure connectrion must be verified on the Advanced tab.  On the general tab, you must enter your mind to email Comcast.  On the Server tab, incoming mail, you must enter your username & password.  Also, not everyone at Comcast knows what is happening.  I had to tell me that my email problem was caused by a virus, when in fact, it is because their system was down.  They had me go to Microsoft.com download a virus removal toll which has led in turn to make me lose my all the Windows operating system.

    I solved my problem by trial and error, but don't know why. I use IMAP.charter.net and port 143 and SMTP.charter.net and port 25, but without SSL.  Not the mobility settings.
